Soul Clap, - The Alezby Inn (feat. The Genevan Heathen)
The EFUNK effect continues to echo across the universe as Soul Clap’s mantra “Everybody’s Freaky Under Natures Kingdom” summons the Egyptian Lover himself, who revisits ‘The Alezby Inn’ to deliver his own spin on the Soul Clap cover of his classic electro-funk jam. The Crew Love is in full effect as Nick Monaco, Night Plane and recent Marcy Hotel regular John Camp deliver the magic on more remixes of ‘The Alezby Inn’, ‘Ecstasy’ and ‘I Need Your Lovin’ feat. 90s pop soul singer Mel Blatt. The 2012 debut album ‘EFUNK’ from Boston duo Soul Clap entered into unchartered territory, blowing apart the "dance" song format with their freaky sleazy surreal antics, ‘EFUNK’ fused the entirety of Soul Clap's past musical influence with super fresh execution. Here Wolf + Lamb Music further explores the debut by delivering a striking collection of remixes for three of the stand out tracks.

Soul Clap - WTF
Feature: Gatefold, Printed Inners, Two Colour Effect Red & Black Vinyl
Boston duo, Soul Clap drop their new album WTF (World Transformation Force) on Fools Gold, exhibiting their consistent evolution in the studio delivering a diverse body of work that hones in on their uniquely soulful spin on underground house, blending in elements of RnB, garage, hip-hop, funk, and downtempo electronica.
WTF is a call for radical love and radical hope, while affirming the Boston duo’s long-standing mission to change our world beyond the dancefloor.
Soul Clap explains…….. "WTF (World Transformation Force) is our reaction to what’s happening to this planet called Earth, and to us, the human beings on it. It’s a call for radical love and radical hope. Our belief that things will get better, even if we are still just beginning to learn how to get there. It’s a wake up call to action, a time for all of us to join together on the path to positive change. Dance music was born as a subversive, underground movement of marginalised people and we believe it’s our duty to follow in their footsteps and use the power of our culture for positive change.”
Soul Clap are astute in looking to the past in order to build the future, a constant ethos driven by their many influences and the respect and genuine acknowledgement to the roots of dance music. They connect with artists from the source and this is further displayed on WTF with collaborators like Nona Hendryx (one third of Labelle and who toured with Talking Heads), who delivers a powerful spoken word on album interlude ‘What If There Was No America?’
The album also features Tra’zae Clinton, who is the grandson of George Clinton; Harry Dennis, Chicago house music producer and lyricist who was part of the original generation of house music in the late 1970s and early 1980s; Rich Medina, a key figure of the East Coast scene, creator of Lil’ Ricky’s Rib Shack and resident for Q-Tip’s ‘Open’ Fridays events; and Sha-Lor vocalist Lori Lava who burst onto NYC Club scene with classic ‘I’m In Love’ produced by Newcleus/Dream 2 Science mastermind Cozmo D in the late 80s. Soul Clap - Lady Smith (Drum Tool)
“We’re going to Graceland! Soul Clap returns giving one of Paul Simon’s most beloved records in history that signature edit ‘tidal-wave of emotion’ touch that has taken so many other classics and brought them into new light for Today’s dance floor. The nostalgia is in full effect as this 1985 anthem takes the boys right back in their formative school years.”
“The Clap flips this Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo sample into a tribal house groover. Propelled by tube driven drum machines, cascading scales and melodies, Lady Smith’s rooted in the raw sounds of bygone synths nurtured back to life”
“Soul Clap breaks the main mix down to its bare essentials on this drum tool bringing the rhythms to the forefront highlighting the vocal chant that gives the original record its signature feeling” More

Soul Clap launch their new club music imprint with the duo's first EP of 2019. Two party tested instrumentals filled with that signature electronic funk ready to work any freaky dancefloor.
EJupiter Crush' takes us on a ride around the moons of the gas planet, sound tracked by the sounds of Roland's Jupiter 8 over a broken-beat house groove. While 'Natural Bliss' brings us back to earth, with warm percussion setting a gentle mood, before evolving into a feel-good, disco influenced house joint.
Everybody's Freaky Under Nature's Kingdom.

Once a distant message written in the stars, the wisdom of Soul Clap has been beamed down to Earth in the form of EFUNK - Everybody's Freaky Under Natures Kingdom - their debut album on Wolf + Lamb.
Before today there was yesterday and after tomorrow is the future, but what happened in-between? The dark age of lost-cool, a time of dimensional imbalance when music was devoured by a black-hole of wackness. Now, marked by a solar-flare in the funky constellations, Soul Clap delivers a galactic renaissance to fill our ears with interplanetary consciousness and emancipate our booties from the androids of dancefloor repetition. The days of EFUNK are upon us, restoring dopeness in the universe, as we groove on and move on together in intergalactic harmony!
EFUNK: The Album is not just the culmination of two musical lives, it's Soul Clap's statement about the sound of now. After years spent traveling planet earth with only a turntable as transportation and a crate of records as a guide, Soul Clap settled on Earth's tropical Art-Deco paradise of Miami as the perfect spot to build the EFUNK mothership. Limited to 13 songs over 45 minutes to fit on one 12" record and operate the mothership control panel, EFUNK: The Album also tells the story of Soul Clap's journey so far in a concise musical statement that could only be accomplished with the skills of master DJs.
Along their path returning from the outer-reaches to save dance music from the eclipse of darkness, Soul Clap's pop sensibility captured the hearts of many earthlings. A series of game changing edits, originals and remixes, a 2010 summer anthem 'Extravaganza' and edition of the legendary DJ Kicks series saw their reputation reach intergalactic levels. By harnessing the past, they look to the future and their timeless reworks and original formula has led to remixing legends Laid Back, Robert Owens and DJ Harvey as well as modern pop stars like Metronomy and Little Dragon. With summers spent touring the world and winters in Miami training at ping-pong and charting new musical territory, Soul Clap continues their quest to be the hardest working duo in the game.
Time stands still, but traverses great distances on the EFUNK transmission. Eli Goldstein AKA Elyte and Charles Levine AKA Cnyce have locked secrets from the outer realms into its design, only to be deciphered through careful attention to its soul. Help in the transformational process is obliged from their close knit Wolf + Lamb family, who have shared and shaped their journey into the consciousness of the terrestrial. The young Jules Born of Voices Of Black duo injects his raw funk stamp into 'Let's Groove On'. Baby Prince AKA Gadi Mizrahi of Wolf + Lamb features alongside other members of the family on 'The Clapping Song'. "We were just hanging out in Charlie's bed when this one came together. We all just sang our own versions of the lyrics," says Eli who contributes the saxophone to the jam. Charlie also plays Kazoo, guitar and keys. Greg Paulus of No Regular Play beams in his magnificent trumpet on the serene closing broadcast, 'Islands in Space' as Charlie sings in cosmic frequencies and Eli's father Gary Goldstein strums the bass. Charlie's vocals play a big part of the appeal of the Soul Clap sound. Their 'Lonely C' anthem of last year made it onto BBC Radio 1 daytime and 6Music rotation and EFUNK's 'TroubleTroubleTrouble' shares a similar vibe - wholly connected and real.
Goddess deities lead EFUNK's transmission further into the light. Franceska unveils her Janet Jackson like powers on 'Take It Slow' and Mel Blatt of All Saints fame wrote and sang the lyrics for 'Ecstasy' - a typical slow jam from Soul Clap, defined as a record that pulls the body low to the floor and slows down the energy vibrations. Hijacked by a UFO to study the effects of the spotlight over a decade, Mel recently returned with divine powers. "We met Mel at DC10 closing," explained Charlie, "Her vibe is incredible and the fact that she's seen it through a pop stars eyes is an added bonus." Her lucid voice returns for 'Need Your Lovin'. Originally an edit Charlie created from an intense love for the original, when they shared it with Mel over stargazing, her mutual feelings led to them recording her vocal and replaying all the parts, becoming a reinvigorated fresh interpretation of the rave classic.
Further into un-charted territory 'The Alezby Inn' a cover of legendary west-coast electro don Egyptian Lover, features the humorous genius Genevan Heathen, who shares a Boston connection and unleashes an EFUNK masterpiece, a mischievious jam that speaks its own truth, "its strange but I like it!" 'Let It Go' was resurrected from an early demo Roldy Cezaire gave to the guys during their legendary midweek parties in Boston. It became a staple in their car cd player, never forgot it due to Roldy's vibe and innocence, and finally resurrected it for the EFUNK voyage. South African Lazarus Man's epic 'When The Soul Claps' is a staple accapella in Soul Clap performances since he shared it with them. The EFUNK formula beams a mysterious and powerful skyrocket to the stars. More

Ladies and gentlemen, we're introducing you, in this very precise moment, to a world novelty: the info sheet without words. Why? Because we're left speechless: this record is just so "wooow" it hurts to close the gap. It's like it says on the tin of clichés: “THE DEFINITION” is giving you a concise description of where SOUL CLAP, the humorous Boston-based house duo, is heading. Well, not quite: more where they have arrived, actually. They have found their style. Eleven out of ten! This is light years away from the sick “Puppy Crack” anthem that left you with wobbly legs. Get ready to be completely overwhelmed as the sassy producers beamed themselves into futuristic groove heavens while staying firmly grounded on the proto 90's floor. Right on! Now, “THE DEFINITION”: Deep, funky, percussion tinged sways that do not shy away from being completely trippy although they are as tight as the bar boy's fish nets and sexy get spiced up. Talking about sexy: it can't get any nicer than being “GROWN-N-SEXY”! A slippy funk guitar lick and easy listening freestyle piano keys drift into eternity while sweet female voices murmur the listener into ecstasy. The filtered trumpet that happily plays away while hard hitting filter house beats pump the dancers onto the next level are just out of this world.

The Soul Clap boys from Boston who come up with the next AIRDROP outing, outdoing themselves every single time. It’s becoming increasingly hard to hammer them down to a certain sound or aesthetic as their thirst for innovation is just unquenchable! Just when you thought you kind of pigeon-holed the two crazy-ass house lovers who do not shy away from direct references and cheeky samples by labeling them somewhat discofunky deephouse techy, they strike back with a record that’s just way out.

SCENES FROM OUR CLASSIC FUTURE IS THE REALIZATION OF THREE SONGS AND TWO PROJECTS THAT CAME TOGETHER AS ONE. AS YOUNG ASPIRING MUSICIANS SINCE THE EARLY AGE OF 12, GREG PAULUS AND JOHN CAMP PRACTICED PLAYING JAZZ STANDARDS INTO THE WEE SMALL HOURS OF THE MORNING TOGETHER. EVENTUALLY THE TWO WOULD FIND THEMSELVES BOTH IN NEW YORK UNDER NEW AND MORE ELECTRONIC CIRCUMSTANCES. DEEPLY INDEBTED TO THE MASTERY OF HERBIE HANCOCK, PAULUS AND CAMP WOULD RECONNECT, THIS TIME WITH SYNTHESIZERS, AND CONTINUE ON THEIR MUSICAL JOURNEY TOGETHER. ON ONE PARTICULAR DAY, CAMP PLAYED PAULUS A TRACK TITLED "REMO". PAULUS INSTANTLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THE TRACK BUT BOTH FELT IT NEEDED SOMETHING MORE... PAULUS INSISTED ON LAYING DOWN VOCALS AND WITHIN 15 MINUTES HAD THE LYRICS WRITTEN OUT AND SOON AFTER ADDED TRUMPET . AROUND THE SAME TIME PAULUS WAS REVISITING "SURF SONG", A TRACK HE AND BRIAN DERDIARIAN HAD BEEN WORKING ON SPORADICALLY FOR SOME TIME. THE TWO WOULD RECORD LONG ONE-TAKE JAMS ON TRUMPET, JUNO 106, AND GUITAR, FEEDING THEM ALL THRU LOOPING AND DELAY PEDALS. FROM THESE SESSIONS THEY WOULD FIND A STRIDE AND IN ADDITION TO "SURF SONG", RECORD "FIRE IN THE SKY". SIMILAR TO "REMO", "FIRE IN THE SKY" WOULD COME TOGETHER IN A LIGHTNING BOLT SORT OF WAY. WHEN ADDING THE FINAL TOUCHES, CAMP WAS AROUND AND WAS ENLISTED TO ADD PIANO WHICH WOULD BRING THE WHOLE EP TOGETHER. AROUND THIS TIME, PAULUS BEGAN TO SEE THE CORRELATION BETWEEN THESE THREE TRACKS. EACH, IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER EMBODIED THE FEELING OF WHEN THE BEACH MEETS THE OCEAN. REMO" WAS DISTINCTLY REMINISCENT OF THEIR TIMES SPENT ON ROCKAWAY BEACH: THE TRIPS OUT IN THE CAR OR BUS, DRINKING AND SMOKING ON THE SHORE AND SLOWLY MAKING THEIR WAY BACK INTO THE BROOKLYN NIGHT TO GET CRAZY. "FIRE IN THE SKY" AND "SURF SONG" HAD A DISTINCT WEST COAST VIBE, MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE FACT THAT DERDIARIAN, BEING FROM CALIFORNIA, COULD NOT HELP BUT BRING THAT WEST COAST SWAGGER TO THE MUSIC. AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE IDEA OF HAVING THEIR GOOD FRIEND TANNER ROSS ADD HIS SIGNATURE TOUCH TO THE PROJECT WAS A NE- CESSITY. ROSS WOULD TAKE "REMO" AND MAKE IT HIS OWN HAZY GEM. WITH THAT, PAULUS WOULD END UP WITH FOUR SONGS THAT REMINDED HIM OF THAT SPECIAL PLACE WHERE THE SAND HITS THE OCEAN. AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT PAULUS WOULD MANAGE TO TAKE TWO PICTURES THAT PERFECTLY ENCAPSU- LATED HIS FEELINGS FOR THESE SONGS. ONE, A BEAUTIFUL DAY ON THE ROCKAWAYS AND THE OTHER, A LUCKY RIDE IN HIS BUDDY'S CORVETTE STINGRAY UP THE PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY TO MALIBU. SCENES FROM 0 UR CLASSIC FUTURE IS A COLLECTION OF SONGS THAT PAULUS, CAMP, AND DERDIAR- IAN LOVE AND HAVE LABORED OVER FOR A LONG TIME. THEY HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM AS MUCH AS THEY DO.

FOR FANS OF: Soul Clap, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, Art Department
San Francisco three-piece live band PillowTalk are surprising dance music treasures. Manipulating pop melodies, classic R&B, soul and boogie into the loose rhythms of house music and performing live on stages in nightclub settings across the world, they have bridged an impossible gulf between worlds and created new expectations for electronic producers and live musicians alike. Their success is twofold, for not only are they stand out performers capturing the stage with Sammy D's bold and sultry vocals, multi-instrumentalist Ryan Williams' dextrous guitar and keys and Mikey Tello's fluid synth work (not to mention their matching classic black tie attire) they are also musical chameleons. As comfortable creating the upbeat 80sinspired synthpop heard in lead single 'Lullaby', as the psychedelic funk of 'We All Have Rhythm' and the classic rock and roll of 'Devil's Run', PillowTalk also adeptly deliver slow electronic ballads ('Naive') and house driven anthems ('If I Try') for their eloquent debut LP, 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' on their home label Wolf + Lamb. A soundtrack to long nights, lazy days and the hazy space between sleeping and waking, the record spans everything you want from the band: sunsplashed jams, peaktime party tunes and lowlit moments of intimacy.
BACKGROUND
The broad nature of 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' came about because the record was pulled together from melodies thought up while on long plane journeys, impromptu jam throw downs in Berlin apartments and musical sketches created during epic studio sessions sharing bottles of vodka. For instance, the offkilter R&B ghetto tech of '4 Walls' happened during a late night session with the band throwing ideas around with friends DOP and Navid Izadi. "We wanted to challenge ourselves musically and lyrically, so we made the song at 144 beats per minute but still gave it a soul vibe," says Michael. The song took ninety minutes to write and this organic and spontaneous approach is key to what PillowTalk are all about. The final album session was recorded in Portland, Oregon, during a month in 2012, which allowed the band to work communally, drawing from various ideas and influences including the vast Americana of Bruce Springsteen, the wrought post dubstep of James Blake, the deep soul of Sam Cooke and the incendiary jazz of John Coltrane. The result is music to suit all times, with a subtle and magnetic atmosphere that is warm, lush and dreamy. Though they've only been releasing records since 2011, the three members of PillowTalk have known each other for years. Meeting at social gatherings in their home of San Francisco, they have been neighbors and even roommates. They formed after the three were mucking around on the baby grand piano in Ryan's kitchen. A guitar and a Wurlitzer, some offhand vocals, were thrown into the mix in true Doowop style. The result led to their first release on the Life and Death label, which soon led to further output on Visionquest, Kompakt, Life And Death, Bang The Box and a multitude of singing collaborations. 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' sees them stepping into their own as a band, a statement of intent born from the highs and lows of their loves, laughs and heartbreaks thus far.

Wolf + Lamb & John Camp are no strange bedfellows. In 2013 John contributed to tracks on Wolf + Lamb records, including his remix of Soul Clap's "Need Your Lovin" and his work on No Regular Play's "Birdfeathers" making him a seminal part of the family. "Make Me Fall" is a timeless tune featuring the haunting volcal work of Patricia Edwards. Driving hi-hats are peppered with jazz saxophone leading the listener through a soaring arpeggios that make it easy to fall in love with this track. On the flip Navid Izadi brings his own sound offering a dynamic spin to the original.

Over four instant classics as suitable for a humid dancefloor as an outdoor BBQ, Navid’s Feeling Purple EP exudes an unmistakably summertime vibe. Think Spike Lee’s cracked Brooklyn concrete, a crisp new pair of white Levi’s, your older brother’s Latin Freestyle mixtapes, high-tops straight out of the box, an afternoon cruise around the block.
