It came as a great surprise when Nail accepted to press on vinyl the 2011 produced “BPMs Vol.1” he had so far only released through his own website. Nail has been one of our favorite producers for quite some time now and his relentless beats always part of our selections. One half of UK electronic act Bent, Neil “Nail” Tolliday has released a series of solo records between 1994 and 2000 on Classic and DiY, the imprint developed by the Do It Yourself free party collective formed in 1989 in Nottingham. Nowadays, Nail releases new music under various aliases on his own GFI Music website, on which the “BPMs Vol.1” was released in 2011. Two titles out of the six originals were especially extended for the occasion. “Bulldogz” and “Fucked Off” come surrounded by four shorter titles all developing a very special realm… More

the last time alejandro mosso released one of his original productions on airdrop, he was still operating under his funzion alias. released in april 2008 and designed with franco cinelli, the singa*pure ep left a distinctive footprint on many wooden and concrete floors. the mendoza-born producer is now back, revealing here one of the highlights of the new live performance he has presented throughout europe and japan over the last year, “nightwalker” - a cutthroat, synth-driven number, which slightly departs from mosso’s usual signature sound. on the flip, who better to spread some funk and soot than legendary frankfurt artist losoul? one cannot possibly forget his 2008 title “west side horn” on playhouse – the one that actually made us think how most appropriate the losoul treatment would be on nightwalker… we were not wrong!

Funkalicious James is one half of disco-house super-duo Childhood '87, along with his old pal Le Loup. Their "Caught Up" edit on Airdrop's Aux-Rec imprint back in January 2010 got some mouths talking and feet sliding. Funkalicious James is now back with his debut solo EP and Airdrop is really glad to bring it to you on vinyl today. The Parisian born producer prepared two explosive cuts for his A-side, starting things mellow with "Call On Groove" and speeding it up a notch on "Broken Hips". On the flip, Douze -- another young Parisian producer who appeared on the last Hold Youth record by Seuil and Le Loup -- brings back a certain touch of french filtering, in the classiest manner. Exactly a year ago we released our first collaboration with John Spring, the Benzo EP which included three phat floorburners, featuring that classic Spring sound. We are really proud to present you with outstanding remixes for each of these.The first person on board was none other than Mr. Mike Huckaby himself. Spring and Huckaby being fellow Native Instruments workers and contributors, the project possessed an instant appeal to the Detroit-based producer. Fresh from a series of outstanding project, including Tresor's 20th Anniversary compilation, the 2nd volume of his Sun Ra Reel To Reel edits and an outstanding 10" on Sushitech, Huckaby's mix is a fresh burst of pure groove. The second ones to be selected for their participation, were Felix Dickinson and Jamie Read from England. Felix Dicksinson is a man of many guises - aka Foolish from duo Foolish & Sly, he has been running the Cynic label since 2004 - Dickinson is also one of the best disco re-editers the old continent has to offer. Long time production partner Jamie Read is well known for his mid '90s productions, many of which got simply stolen by Joe Lewis and released on Target and Relief. Together they call themselves LHAS Inc., the Larry Heard Appreciation Society. The last mix, comes from Airdrop spearhead Franco Cinelli. Upon receiving internal information about the project, Cinelli immediately decided to contribute to the record and dropped a disco house party stormer, making it directly to the A-side.

Over two years ago already, we were announcing Andres Zacco's first EP on Airdrop. The 'Seated Hopping EP' had been sent to us by Andres' best friend, none other than el Señor Franco Cinelli. Needless to say, we fell in love with the subtlety of his music. Fast forward until today and be prepared to be blown away by how much Zacco's musical refinement has developed. Impossible you will say, as you remember last year's 'Something In Your Smile EP' on Airdrop or 'Drawing Clouds' on Zacco's Greener label. Well, give it a listen! Here are three beautiful original tracks, made out of a collection of universal sound, carefully crafted and perfectly mixed in Andres Zacco' Rosario studio. This fully-fledged EP comes to round off a year of successes for Andres Zacco. Having released key 12"s on Dario Zenker's Ilian Tape label (out of which Raresh included 'Icegrass' on his latest Cocoon compilation, or a few weeks ago bursting all techno charts with the original 'Dextre' track on Jonas Kopp's Traut imprint. Swayzak's Brun listened to the first sketches of this EP and immediately decided to give a go to the main track. The result is a conceptual treatment that reflects the advanced maturity of the Swayzak sound, deep inspiration to most, if not all.

Leonel Castillo is undoubtedly Argentina's most gifted producer. While his releases remain extremely rare, his daily creations keep adding and adding onto the thousands of tracks he produced over the past 20 years. On this very special artist EP - Leonel Castillo, the great engineer, sets some
intricate and complex rhythmics in motion, forging El Salon De Los Espejos into a highly feverish hotbox of a record. Get this right : no other man can devellop such elaborate and throbbing patterns as he does. From his lucious grooves featured on Sushitech, to the stripped aesthetics as heard on Illian Tape or even the Dubby Techno textures from his record last year on Greener - needless to say, Leonel covers a wide and complete musical range. Recently, Leonel Castillo was also featured on Resident Advisor's esteemed podcast series. On that occasion, he prepared close to 2 hours of his own unreleased productions only, under a live set format. A mixed recording about which followers commented wildly about for weeks. A true legend in his country, Leonel Castillo actually never crossed the Atlantic ocean to unveil his DJing and Live wonders to the old continent. A fact that will soon become outdated, as el maestro already prepares his ?rst tour for 2011. After releasing milestone EPs between 2007 and 2008 on Pheek's Archipel imprint, Immigrant and their home label, Cynosure, the Uruguayan duo MONOBLOCK completed a great 2009. Inaugurating the Spanish Une Label during the summer with their Introduktion EP, Monoblock also released InTensiones, their third record on Mike Shannon's Cynosure. Recent Berlin implants, by way of Valencia, MONOBLOCK start off 2010 right with a superbly executed whole artist EP on Airdrop Records. Andrés Zacco, the Pergamino-born Argentine producer is not an unknown to the scene. His highly descriptive, funkily elusive, reduced yet very driving house sounds that are finely layered and always utterly tasteful in their composition have surfaced on labels as varied and renowned as Stock5, BPitch, Alphahouse, Esperanza and Traut Muzik. Andrés also releases on his own imprint, Greener, which features works by Lineas de Nazca, Kai-Maan and his dear friend Franco Cinelli to name a few involved. As part of an exciting new wave of Argentinean sound producers, he, alone and together with studio partner Lucas Mari, manages to stun a receptive audience not only with the array of productions and remixes he has been releasing since 2006 but also with his gripping DJ sets.
