REPRESS!
This is the first 12“ of the new Move D - “Recurrent Recollections“ series. “Something ’Bout The D“ is featuring three previously released tracks, that only ever appeared on Various Artists compilations on different record labels - from Fred P’s Earth Tones Vol. 1, via Russ Gabriel’s Ferox label to Lowtec’s Out to Lunch imprint. Now for the first time on Source Records, this 12“ kicks off with Aspiration 2010, a subtle and slow building Deep Acid House track evolving across the entire side A. On the B-side the title track “Something ’Bout The D“ takes the vibe back to 90s oldschool Detroit inspired house music - spiced with some 909 euphoria, some uplifting chords and a technoid, abstract but soothing melody. Closing out the 12“ on B2 is the much beloved and hard to find Move D contribution to Out To Lunch’s “Airbag Craftworks Vol. 2“ compilation “Marshmellow Boots“. A hypnotic and bouncing hookline is transformed over surrounding synth stabs and dubs. A subdued fluffy little groover in a typical Move D trademark fashion. More

mule musiq dives into the archives of humanoid ambient music history, bringing the vinyl premiere of a masterwork by german dj, producer, and musician david moufang, globally known as move d. released in 1995 on pete namlook’s fabled fax +49-69/450464 label, the album marks his only output as solitaire, featuring heroic, supple ambient music, that some folks call one of the best works by move d.
just three years before he dropped it, moufang launched with jonas grossmann the celebrated label source records, active from 1992 to 2005. it was the platform for his first move d album “kun-ststoff”, likewise released in 1995, highlighting diverse genres like techno, house, idm, ambient, electro, and downtempo.
“solitaire” works with pulsating rhythms, too. gentle ones, that cater sensations beyond the propel-ling dance sectors. a spiritual album. recorded at the resource studios/heidelberg in july/august 1994. it reaches out to higher ground, never leaving the sediment.
still state of the art. not a single melody, note, tone has aged. all sparkle, all innocence is still there, somewhere deep in the arpeggiated space, absorbing time. an exploratory early electronic work by an artist, who still had his most prolific years to come.
and yet, “solitaire” sounds like being shaped by a fully mature creative mind, that defined his sonic language already profoundly. six epic tunes between five and 16 minutes, listening to emblematic titles like “damaskus/dakar, “sergio leone’s wet dream”, or “indian mantra”, while opening ambient into investigative textural layer landscapes, that subtly incorporate acid, downbeat, idm, or early techno districts.
for those who have been around in the electronic music sphere for a while, “solitaire” is a classic. for those who are young at heart, it opens new horizons. each new passive or active listing loop fresh ones. hidden in the harmonies. hidden in the melodies. somewhere inside the sound. leading outside into a visual texture, where you can almost see the music! Move D - The System Is... Original First Take With E-Harp/Sitar
This is the last 12“ of the Pandemix Live Jams series. „Right About Now“ is built around a friendly Move D jingle dedication by Scott Grooves. A smooth flower with a breeze of calypso featuring live bass and guitar. After this gentle and rather uplifting opener, things get deeper with even more guitars and guitar synths. „The Bottom“ is a call for an end of the pandemic and the restrictions upon (night)life that came with it. Move D goes through some jazz inspired fusion modes on this one. Finally „The System Is…- Original First Take with E-Harp/Sitar“ offers the initial version of this song which was previously released on Smallville Records #57 featuring a second, more sparse mix. However, this original version is even more dreamy and introverted, but at the same time still a groovy little stomper with a steady techno pulse to close out this 12“ along with the whole set of 6 vinyl EPs.

Move D has seen a massive career over the years, starting with his early days as a German pioneer of House Music. In 1993 this was one of his first 12“ records on TIME UNLIMITED which was mostly known for Trance and Hard Trance. This surely is a cult record and has become highly sought after over the last ten years. Its unique style of sampling comined with an uplifting, basement style production is still mindbending and timeless. This reissue was remastered by David's long-term friend LOPAZZ for a full range sound experience.

Move D's 'Building Bridges' is David Moufang's latest studio album. Close friends and long time collaborators, Thomas Fehlmann, Fred P, Juju & Jordash, D-Man & rEAGENZ all feature alongside Benjamin Brunn. Building Bridges was recorded at reSource, Heidelberg between 1999-2019 except "One Small Step..." which was recorded at Thomas Fehlman's Space in Berlin
This album initially started out as an entry for the Inside Out series on Aus - based around the idea of collaborations with his nearest and dearest but when David sent me the music and wrote a few new tracks there was such a cohesive, timeless feel to it as a body of work I decided that it had to be a stand alone artist album. These tracks have been written over a twenty year period and involve 6 people but it sounds like it was written in one sitting. This is testament to David's creative aesthetic and the closeness of the relationship with his collaborators as a common feeling of warmth and smudged soul oozes out of every poor of this record. Will Saul

Move D is a true legend in deep, house music. We own A LOT of his records. When we found the track 'Wanna Do' on the 50th Groove magazine cd full of exclusive tracks, we contacted him to ask if he would be interested in a vinyl release. The track was too good to be only available through that cd. So Move D sent a second - also really great - track along, and the result is what you're listening to at the moment. The first 300 copies are available on marbled purple vinyl. Get yours.

Move D, JuJu, - Your Personal Healer (Hydraulic guitar by JuJu)
Move D's The ‘Hydrophonic EP’ features musical contributions from friends Gal Aner (Juju) and Eric D. Clark, reflecting David’s long-held love of collaboration. The record opens with ‘Your Personal Healer’. Against the backdrop of a disco break, a filtered piano rises and falls mesmerically. Vocal spectres float, as further elements are artfully woven into the mix. Perhaps most notably, some smooth guitar licks are provided by Juju (of Juju & Jordash). There’s a playful feel to ‘Things Will Come... (...for Those Who Wait)’ – a perfectly compact track which is somewhat reminiscent of early Herbert material with it’s flat kick drum and sample-based composition. The reclined groove of ‘Sur un Bateau avec Eric’ occupies the whole of the second side – evoking memories of a Summer now just out of reach. Eric D Clark whispers in French and wind chimes sound delicately, over a square wave bassline that animates the track for the dancefloor. It’s as classy and sophisticated a release as you’d expect from Move D – for the more tasteful DJs!
