The distance from Ricardo's last field trip "Thé au Harem d'Archimède" (PERL43) in 2004 to the present epic 5x12"LP-Set is a galaxy of electronic expression through sound independent from time and pace. It is said that Funk is defined by the notes that are not being played. The space between the notes here is so vast that Funk becomes transformed into the spirit that creates unfathomable emotional adventure. The rules of dynamics between 0 and 1 shift the relation from reality to relaxation. 14 freefloat sessions are made of natural, secret ingredients from the limbic system of astro aztecs. They evolve from rituals, ending in the release of the sinuous percussion ghost from the machine who breathes out a score for easy living. Which sounds like a primordial soup aerosol of funky molecules and molluscs.

The marvellous Chilean blooded "Llovizna", produced by the talented Felipe Venegas & Francisco Allendes was originally released in 2009 on Cadenza 40th vinyl release. We are delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its publication with a crisp remix by the mighty Luciano and a rework hot off the press by its original writers. Furthermore, there will be another heavyweight remixer,a big surprise and an appreciated comeback: Loco Dice need no introduction, and his remix of this Cadenza classic leaves us speechless. A magnificent bond of the original latin vibes and astonishing peak-time sound manipulation with a relentless pace. The remixes and the rework will be released both on a vinyl E.P. and in digital format.
"Llovizna" is a track with an indissoluble bound with Cadenza's South America roots, a bound perpetually fortified by the origin of many of the artists involved with the label, and by the choice to host amazing massive events in Chile and in the rest of the continent. A funky bass line and full- bodied reverberating jazz drums make out Luciano's bubbly and shiny remix. The cutting edge climactic sequencing of its synthesisers and the seasoned use of percussive breaks and fills exalt the emotional interlude of the folkloric female Latin chant, just before a fully fledged dancefloor oriented restart.
The rework delivered by Felipe and Francisco starts off banging with a resolved bass drum, rattling shakers and fierce hi-hats. Subtle melodies slowly raise from its minimalistic framework revealing in advance all the sweetness of its Andean singing. A majestic rework, which resonates far beyond from a dj tool aftertaste.

Shimza, one of South-Africa’s shining talents, makes his return to Cadenza with ‘Eminence’, a burning compound of profound percussions and late-night rapturing synths. This Gauteng-born artist is one of the most celebrated African electronic musicians and has garnered the reputation of the “Effect Master” and “Vinyl Assassin” for his technical prowess and intricate mixing abilities.
The vibrating drums and persistent arpeggios of ‘Eminence’ make for a captivating peak-time anthem, offering the nostalgic essence of Detroit’s late-nineties splendour. As the EP journeys to ‘Dancefloor Keeper’, the slick trance-inspired stabs and permeating bassline expose its ominous nature as it swells to a seismic drop. On the B-side, Shimza expresses his creative flare with ‘Kunye’; a hypnotic cut that blends the spirit of futuristic synthwave with the soul of African tribalism.
‘Warrant For Arrest’ is a charged number, driven by a snappy compressed kick drum and chiming sequences. As its percussive forces fall away to the second break, a monstrous siren and obscure vocal cuts take focus, guiding it to its summit. The penultimate offering ‘MSC’, is a euphoric gem that flows with expressive phrases and evolving synth pads. The EP’s digital-only bonus track ‘Mirrors’ shuffles effortlessly with a funk-tinged riff, maintaining a high voltage pace, closing the EP in an emphatic manner.
Shimza has been on a mission to make 2019 his biggest year to date. Launching his One Man Show concept in Soweto in 2009 to help raise funds for underprivileged children, the project has now matured into an annual event that draws in over 25,000 people each year, hosting some of the country’s most in-demand artists, such as AKA, Black Coffee and Black Motion. The show has seen
international editions in France, Spain and Portugal and has helped position Shimza as one of South Africa’s greatest musical exports.
Catching the attention of Rumor’s boss Guy Gerber, Shimza celebrated his Ibiza debut at Destino’s Closing Party alongside Luciano in 2016, returning to the iconic White Isle venue a further four times. In recent years, he delivered explosive performances at RESISTANCE Cape Town and Boiler Room Johannesburg, and has since extended his pioneering sound to global audiences across New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Manchester. Luciano has arranged a special series of four releases as part of the celebrations for the fifteen years
anniversary of his own Cadenza Records, launching the first one to begin the festivities. Each episode
is coming out in a different season of the year; the first one, with the catalogue number 118, is the
chapter dedicated to the summertime and contains 5 enchanting tracks with an exquisite sound. This
series is just one of the astonishing surprises that Luciano has set aside for the birthday of his
beloved label.
The show begins with “The Amazing Lilou”, a crispy ariose tune with elaborated percussions and
calypso-flavored synthesizers. “Hiding Hearts” is a latin prelude with pleasant guitars and restful
melodies, flowing with joy and peace. “Nabusima” is another Caraibic spell, with noteworthy carefully
mixed drums and elevating harmonies. “Magik Mechanics” explores complex broken beats and
electronic textures, drawing a colored narration in between a fairy tale and a sci-fi movie. Finally,
“Tirana del Oriente”, as disclosed by the title, is a trip into the Oriental ardent magic. A collection of
five long summery compositions to accompany our hot pleasing days from the dawn till the dusk,

Argentinian veteran Jorge Savoretti has been djing for more than 20 years, and his first release for
Esperanza Records traces back to 2005. In this time laps he has produced 2 albums, 20 EPs and a
great number of remixes, on labels such as Raum Musik, Visionquest and Ilian Tape. His debut on
Cadenza is a crisp breeze of graceful music for dancing.
Side A starts point-blank with “Bou Gei” bouncing shuffle, driving bass line, lively cymbals,
sparkling band-passed chords, summing-up Jorge´s true dedication to nightclubs and nightlife. With no
reprieve, “Ruth” suspicious pads lurk behind a funky swinging rhythm spruced up by a continuous
surfacing of snare rolls and giggly stabs.
On the B side, “Sensu Dub” explores without hesitation darker textures and resonances,
leaving no concessions to leave the dancefloor. Finally “U-Fonk #04.01” dives into sweating hotblooded

Fausto Messina is a veteran dj and producer from Treviso, a small town on the plain between the
Gulf of Venice and the Alps. Fausto has been releasing music for more than 10 years and “Pica Pica”
is his debut E.P. on Cadenza.
In the track named “Pica Pica” a recurrent evocative voluminous chord is convoyed by a classy
powerful kick drum and an organic symphony of fluffy percussions and metallic bonks, with a
triumphant layer of dense whistles and shimmering cymbals.
The extremely intense vibrant rhythms of “Idiophono” contrast with the gentle reverberating
harmonies of an ensemble of struck idiophones, angelically flowing in the background of the track.
The smooth magnetic flux of “Planets Ballet” concludes the E.P. with high style. This jacky stride
over a stack of steamy synthesisers and bubbly bleeps is a golden tune for a quivering late-night
dance-floor.

Shimza, real name Ashley Raphala, is one of South Africa's brightest young talents.
"Ascendent", his 4 tracks debut E.P. on Cadenza reveals solid production skills and
an innate instinct for peak-time bangers. The opening track, "Congo Congo" is a
dark ride over abysmal tom-tom drums, lively percussions and a gloomy bass lead,
ignited dramatically by an ensemble of wide synthetic stabs and chords. In its "Dub-
Mix", the drums and the percussion become lighter without diminishing its dynamic
tension. The overall weight of the leads and the stabs is reduced, leaving more space
to its intense piano and string chords and swinging sub bass. "Shimza - Secret
Melodies" starts with an obscure bass line, but the intense twist of fractioned rolls
and arpeggios bring an ascending piano progression that quickly blooms into an
uplifting symphony. "Selector" is a deeper cut that keeps the gaze on the dancefloor:
the incessant hand clapping and a cloud of low frequencies bumps unexpectedly
drag its hypnotic harmonies into a breath-taking drop.

Swiss-based, Jamaican producer Ezikiel returns to Cadenza for his another outing,
this time dropping the ‘Tales Of Roots’ EP. With this new EP he demonstrates his
flair for the musical side of club compositions, imbibing his productions with sultry
atmospherics, deep emotion and organic keys and strings.
The title track ‘Tales of Roots’ is a 15-minute opus, which unravels slowly but
surely, working from a soft yet persistent bassline and a hypnotic rhythm. Samples of
tribal singers add a distinct human element, entrancing you with their organic
vibrations. As the voices continue to sing out you’re transported to a vibrant sub-
Saharan landscape, captivated by the irresistible guitar riff…
On the flip we have ‘Makha Poetry’, a more experimental workout with a variety of
warped and twisted effects spluttering and wobbling away at its foundation. The
jaunty yet slightly eerie low end gives this track a naughty allure, as those strange
bleeps and whirrs continue to bounce in and out of the background. There’s a
controlled restraint about ‘Makha Poetry’ which gives it a devastating simplicity and a
very unique aesthetic.

Pablo Cahn is a talented producer hailing from and currently residing in Bogota,
Colombia. "Soul Rain" is his third release on Cadenza, and it comes with a massive
remix by the Spanish don Paco Osuna.
The original mix of Pablo is a long attractive dance floor tune textured by an
overwhelming bass line and a deluge of vocal grains that shapes a large number of
fills and break downs all over the track. As the journey go further, a complex twist of
harmonies and resonances arise from the rhythmic grounds, shining over a blissful
body of beats.
Paco Osuna's remix recap all the rhythmic elements and shrink the vocal drizzle
maintaining their relevance to the building of the track. The bare inter-twin of its
relentless bass line and its stinging hi-hats works out a magnificent outbreak of the
dense original tissue of chords.

up for “Esperanza” a long awaited release that will fire up the summertime. David
and Luciano composed the track together but then each one refined his own personal
mix.
Luciano ´s “Flow Latino Mix” is a long tribalistic ground moving crescendo with a
sub-frequency dense kick and sparkling nuyorican flavoured percussions. The hand
drums ensemble ride a magnetic bass provoking a state of hypermnesia slowly
reaching a climax of celestial chords. This subtle spectral progression finally breaks
down a feeling of positive trust and spiritual healing.
David Morales' "Red Zone Mix" is a lengthy dramatic ascension with a darker
feeling. Stretched textures are the background of a constellation of scattered
percussions, over which fast paced hi-hats subliminally introduce evocative strings
and arpeggios, as they were coming out, at last, as the Hope from the Pandora's
Box.

Originally released in 2014, Luciano's 'The Great Amael' is an enchanting and endearing trip; a lo-fi bubbling groove and dusted Hammond organs that hustle along whilst live percussion cuts through the oceanic atmospherics. Two years on, and Cadenza Music call upon a brace of remixers to provide fresh and unique interpretations of this hidden gem in Luciano's catalogue.

Having recently released his first album in over 10 years, Matthew Dear AKA Audion boldly steps up to the mantle and stamps his intelligent techno sound all over 'Amael' in the first of our remixes. Cutting a sprightly pace from the off, Audion melts stuttering sine waves and bulging tones over concrete beats, tweaking in the original organ riff and fathoms deep pads whilst adding additional vocal refrains as he playfully teases the arrangement before dropping a superb riff in his 'Backward Melody' Remix, which takes a most psychedelic and unexpected twist!

Two other musical heavyweights collaborate on the second of the remixes; Phil Moffa and Seth Troxler are no studio strangers, having released a joint project on the British Hypercolour label last year, and remixed for Tiga a few months back. Their LSOS LOVE/GOD Remix builds from ambient beginnings, save for a rhythm carved out of spongy electronics, a sturdy beat kicking in and setting the controls destination unknown, as the duo steer through breathy vocal cuts and propelling bass, stripping the remix back before leaping back into hyperspace with some adventurous and dubbed out vibes, before coming back down for landing with those unmistakable pads from Luciano's original.

A fitting remix package that brings together four of the electronic music scene's most dynamic talents, Luciano's music is given that extra special touch by respected and like minded individuals that will continue it's work on the more discerning dancefloors this Autumn.

Philippe Quenum returns to Cadenza Music with 'Solitaire', some thirteen years after helping kick start the Swiss label with the 2003 release 'Orange Mistake'/'Funky Dandy'. This groundbreaking single, co-produced with Luciano, has since become a landmark release, not just for the label, but also as the benchmark for the micro-house and minimal tech-house genre that developed over the decade.

With a music career than spans back to the mid-80s (dancing in NYC as part of the breakdance troupe, The Magnificent Force), Quenum found his forte with house music, both as a DJ, and as a producer and label owner. Setting up the Access 58 label in 1998 as a platform for his music and collaborations, Quenum has consistently released over the years for labels like Crosstown Rebels, Soma, alphahouse, Thema and Trapez LTD.

'Solitaire' finds Quenum on fine form; on the lead track, dubby FX and bass shaking shots roll out over an urgent disco beat, muted brass and technoid stabs fire from all directions as the tension building pads flourish. Shadowy forces are at play on 'Mystic'; discordant sounds echo and bellow over reverberating percussion and a dense back beat that fire into life with shuffling hi-hats. Wrapping up this welcome return to the label is 'Mystery'; whipping snares and industrial clangs rumble over the urgent drums for more hypnotizing dancefloor work from Philippe!

Electronic music has always had a special affiliation with space, and the sounds of the cosmos. An inherent love of all things sci-fi, galactic and otherworldy has always been a common thread, especially with techno producers, and so it's always a pleasure to come into greater contact with the science of these sounds when creating new music.
Project ALMA is a new collaboration between Luciano's Cadenza Records label and the ALMA Sounds initiative that bridges two sets of individual passions; that of Luciano's love for music, and ALMA astronomer Antonio Hales' love of the universe. Their 20 years + relationship has finally had the opportunity to cross paths, and Luciano, alongside fellow producers Felipe Venegas and Diego Errázuriz, have produced this special release using sounds collected from the ALMA resource library.
Each producer worked with various source sounds, incorporating these planetary samples into their compositions; Luciano takes us on a trip to Orion in his own inimitable style, whilst Felipe Venegas goes deeper with a truly spatial piece. Diego Errázuriz opts for a beatless excursion that marrys soft and atmospheric piano to the planetary tones.
The ALMA observatory is an astronomical interferometer of radio telescopes in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. The collection of 66 telescopes provides an insight into star birth, and detailed imaging of local star and planet formations, by observing millimeter and submilimeter wavelengths.
ALMA Sounds is an initiative that seeks to interpret and decode the frequencies of the Universe, transforming them into sounds that can then be used by artists around the world to compose, share and create a community united around a search that has captivated humans for thousands of years.

Swiss DJ & producer, Mirko Loko, continued to indulge in his intergalactic persuasions on last year's long player "Comet Plan". Released on Cadenza, Mirko's second album was enthusiastically received and picked up many fans for its collection of blissfull and wide-eyed electronica and techno sounds. Featured guests on the album included dOP's vocalist, JAW, and Francesco Tristano.

12 months on, and "Comet Plan" gets revisited and remixed by two stellar names from the electronic dance community.

Sebastian Mullaert is well known for partnership with Marcus Henriksson as Minilogue, the Swedish duo responsible for killer albums & singles for the likes of Cocoon, Silver Planet and Wagon Repair. Mullaert plumps for a solo remix of "Venus" of epic proportions, split into two versions; "Phaze One" and "Phaze Two". An organic trip through the cosmos, Mullaert tweaks and teases over two seductively trippy versions, showing us a master class in minimal electronics.

Hailing from Dallas, Brett Johnson has become synonymous with masterful jackin house music via singles for Derrick Carter's Classic, DJ Sneak's Magnetic, Freerange and Visionquest. Brett tackles "U Special" featuring JAW, and turn in a very tasty Remix and Instrumental version. Soulful, spacey and groovy in equal doses, Brett delivers the goods in abundance on these mixes.

A tight remix package that bows respectfully to Mirko's original visions, and a timely reminder, to the uninitiated, to check out the album for further inspection.

Sebastian Fiegen rolls out his debut solo release for Cadenza Records this Spring, with a trio of excellent house cuts on the 'Theofidelity' EP. The German producer has been crafting quality productions for some time now under aliases and collaborations, and it's on Luciano's label where he makes his mark as a solo artist.
'Dopeman' opens the EP with a rolling Chi-town house style groove, a simple yet effective filtered vocal loop and sustained strings harvest the feel good vibes over its solid beats. Fiegen keeps up the pace with 'Anando', more drum led house grooves with a high production value, the vocal refrain cutting in and out of the mix whilst the simplistic bassline and woody percussion maintains the bouncing vibes.
Closing the EP is 'TH01', again coming correct with the 'feel good factor' with its use of the looped sample and lazy, hypnotizing drums. A cracking debut production from Fiegen, and a well rounded release for Cadenza.

Spanish DJ & producer, Eduardo De La Calle, has continued to explore the outer limits of the electronic palette since his Cadenza Records debut back in 2013, clocking up stellar releases for the likes of Mule Musiq, Hivern Discs, Be As One and Nonplus over the last couple of years.
Eduardo returns to Cadenza in February with the 'Anima Animus' single, coupling two tracks of refined techno for your listening pleasure. Taking inspiration from the psychologist/philosopher Carl Jung's concept of anima and animus (and do take the time to explore this), Eduardo marries arpeggiated synths and melodic chords with a soft kick and tantalizing hats, producing a slick piece of reflective techno that's alive with melody and groove.
On 'North Pole', we get more of the signature 'De La Calle' sound; subaquatic bass and searing, melancholic strings play out over a steady mechanical beat, nodding its head not only to the Detroit masters but also to the European New Wave sounds that influenced the Motor City artists in the first instance.
Another assured single release from Eduardo that will further solidify his place in the current electronic music landscape.

Cadenza Music opens up its 2016 account with the debut single from Swiss producers, Rare Movement feat. Disco Channel.
Cutting their teeth on the DJ circuit for many years, and playing alongside such esteemed jocks as Seth Troxler, Ricardo Villalobos (who mastered the audio on these tracks), Jamie Jones and Luciano (who ultimately signed this single to Cadenza), the guys have crafted a pair of tracks that sit right in the DJ sets of the aforementioned company.

'Rare 007' combines tension building synths and a wandering bassline, wrapped up tight in solid drum groove, its hypnotizing tones carving out a most useful club tool. On the flip side, 'Rare 011' digs deeper, with cinematic string sweeps over the sparse and bass heavy kick drum. Flashes of vocal refrains and micro percussion fly in and out of the arrangement as the melodic elements give this one a real sense of drama as the track blossoms into life. A very accomplished debut from the guys will no doubt provide a real 'dancefloor moment' in the right setting, and no surprise that Villalobos gave these tracks the audio master that they deserve.

You can guarantee that Luciano always comes through with a signature tune once a year, and of late has leisurely road tested singles like 'Rise Of Angel' and 'Cachai' at clubs, festivals and at his Ibiza residencies for full seasons, before releasing the fruits of his labor.

And so 2015 throws up "7directions" featuring JAW on the vocal, a mesmerizing and low-slung track that's already getting pole position in Luciano's sets, ending his momentous off-Sonar show at El Poble Espanyol with it, as well as becoming a staple at his weekly Vagabundos residency at Space in Ibiza this season.

New York house royalty, Dennis Ferrer, sprinkles the track with his own inimitable style, a sound that has crafted hit records and undergound bombs since the 90s, for labels like Nite Grooves, Defected, Ibadan and his own Objektivity label.

And to complete this huge package, Matthew Herbert joins the party with a head scrambling "One Direction Dub" mix. The UK sound designer has mesmerized and innovated over the last two decades with some stunning music on his own Accidental label as well as remixes for the likes of Moloko, Jamie XX, Björk and a host of others.

On the Original Mix, brooding pads and spikey synths linger over a spacious drum pattern, live drum fills and claps bouncing off the bass pulses, as wandering keys usher in the unmistakable tones of JAW AKA Jonathan Illel, the musician and vocalist extraordinaire who ply's his trade with the French electronic group DOP and as a guest on recordings from artists like Mirko Loko and Guillaume & The Coutu Dumounts amongst many others.

"7directions" is perhaps one of Luciano's more understated productions; it's a sprawling and sultry journey, with deft melodic touches and intricate production techniques, taking care not to become cluttered, rather using the space is enunciate the sheer hypnotism stored within and for JAWs vocals to glide over the listener without fanfare or dramatic clichés.

Cadenza Records displays a deft touch in showcasing new talent, just as much as it leans on its core of established producers. The 'Split' EP shines a bright light on the musical endeavors of Enrico Gasperini AKA gAs, and fellow Italian, Lino Pugliese.
One side of vinyl each, and gAs opens up Side A with 'Rack Attack', its woody hits and scattering hi-hats holding a solid groove whilst gentle keys entwine a melodic touch with a stuttering synth riff that's designed to circulate around the brain. Splashes of cymbals and white noise provide the all important drama as the track rises to a crescendo. Enrico's second contribution, 'Agogo', keeps up the ante with another slice of exquisite house grooves. The inner-city street ambience opening gives way to an undeniably funky rhythm track, incessant spongy stabs and frenzied percussion that makes this one a sure fire winner.

Over on Side B, Lino Pugliese gets to flex his sonic palette after recent releases on Cadenza Lab and Memento. 'Banging On Your Door' takes its time to unfurl; a percussive swing not too dissimilar to the Stones' 'Sympathy For The Devil' sets the tone magnificently, as low frequency synth sweeps and distant vocal effects build, the kick drum jolting the track into life with bursts of furry snares and handclaps. More ambient soaked business on 'Aniwama' as Lino forges melodious piano and clanging ride cymbals with low end sonics as the track deconstructs as quickly as it builds, tearing up the arrangement rule books to create a unique cut that can perform as a mood-setting piece just as well as a peak time genre-shifter.
