Chicago house great Lil Louis really nailed it when he wrote 'Cub Lonely' back in 1992 with his group The World. It was taken from their album A Journey With The Lonely and has lead vocals by Joi Cardwell that helped it become an instant club smash. All these years later it always gets a big reaction on the floor which is why it has now been reissued by Epic complete with a series of remixes. The I'm On The Guest List mix is the one with the wonky sax lines and steamy vocals, the instrumental is paired back and more club-ready then DJ Pierre's Afro club mix bringing some big and freewheeling synth energy. The Bellbottoms & Platforms mix is a subtle tweak and then the most raw of the lot is the Radically Lonely mix to close down.

compilation with a new EP named BLACK METROPOLIS.
Within its, at times, rough-hewn textures lies a core
that explores joy and energy within the roots of black
techno. In her words: “I want this release to be black
and beautiful, to be queer, and playful, a nostalgic nod
to the 90s but also reimagining it in the current times.”
The Ghana-born, London-bred, now Berlin-based
producer’s research into afro-futurism, envisaging
a path forward for science, technology and culture
through the black experience, has impressed a deep
vision on this EP. Yazzus sets like a cartographer, using
her tracks to explore a technologically advanced world,
each representing di erent regions and environments.
Human Error Processor introduces an ear-worming
percussion pattern nearly swamped by distorted bass
drums and a vocal sample screwed just beyond
recognition. Perforated leads with a 150bpm four to the
floor stomp, infectious and supercharged. Gluey synth
motions soak in an otherworldliness, where industrious,
mechanical rhythms map out futurist structures in all
directions.
Metro City Bay Area exhibits a ghettotech soul, lean and
bouncy - this part of the galaxy is an infinite source of
fun, with the heart of groove at it’s core. Three Deities
brings adventurers of its region towards higher powers,
its ravey synths and an engulfing bass provoke
a complete NRG release, ascending into a spiritual
trance where dense melodies bubble and fizz.
Digital-only track United By Fate meddles busy vocal
samples with searching melodies, a fitting end to the
kaleidoscopic that is BLACK METROPOLIS.

A long-standing force in Minimal and House with a discography stretching two decades, collaborations on Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8, and his own Cynosure and Haunt Recordings labels, Shannon has carved out a reputation as a respected staple in the booth and the studio. Inspired by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Möbius’ INCAL graphic novels, Mike Shannon’s ‘Off World Synthetics’ EP opens with ‘Synthetic Salsateca’, where a static groove drives a playful, squelching synthline. ‘Back To The Hood’ follows with rattling, mechanical energy before the fl ip reveals ‘Off World Sparkle’, its wonky sequences bending around rubbery low-end. Mathias Kaden returns to Rekids with ‘Fyutr’, featuring Zoë Xenia and a remix from Dennis Ferrer. The single is a preview of Kaden’s upcoming album. Mathias Kaden returns to Rekids with ‘Fyutr’, following his previous four releases on the label and once again linking up with DJ, producer, and vocalist Zoë Xenia, who also featured on his 2022 ‘Blackbird’ EP on the label. Set for release on 27th February 2026, the single offers an early glimpse into Kaden’s forthcoming album on Radio Slave’s flagship imprint, and comes with a remix from New York House legend, Dennis Ferrer. A slow-burner with real progression, Mathias Kaden’s ‘Fyutr’ unfolds as a mind-melting journey. Dub chords creep in gently before stretching and mutating, while Zoë Xenia’s spoken-word vocal drifts through the mix, and sweeping strings give it a deep, timeless feel. The single is complemented by a remix from Dennis Ferrer, who flips the original into a beefy, pared-back House cut, warping Xenia’s vocals and locking into a rolling groove before resolving in lush chord work. Active since the mid-90s, Kaden first appeared on Rekids in 2019 and has since built a wide-ranging catalogue across labels such as Cocoon and Vakant, alongside remix work for DJ Koze, KiNK, Monika Kruse, and Trentemøller. ‘Fyutr’ marks his fifth release on the label, following last year’s ‘Freedom’ remix EP, which received support from Ben Sims, Anja Schneider, Kölsch, Honey Dijon, and more.
