Rick “The Godson” Wilhite is a Detroit born producer/label owner/record store owner/DJ and founding member of Detroit’s 3 Chairs. Rick also releases music under his Vibes New & Rare Music label. For this release Rick has provided us with a brand-new track entitled “Mind Control” – a thumping late night dance floor stomper
reminiscent of early 3 Chairs, that is sure to keep the crowd jumping!
Ron Allen is a Toronto based JUNO Nominated music producer/songwriter/DJ and founder of legendary dance music label Strobe Records that was instrumental in developing the house and techno genres in Canada in the early 90’s. “Whispers” by The R.A.S.E. (Ron Allen Sound Experience), features melodic keys, dreamy vocals and a groovy, head-nod inducing bassline that sounds just as fresh now as it did when it was originally released in 1994.
Terrence Parker (“TP”) was born and raised in Detroit and has become legendary for his skillful turntablism style of playing House Music. Terrence has released more than 100 recordings on his Intangible Records & Soundworks label and various other international record labels. With lush keys, and soaring vocals, “Embrace (The Original Melody Vibe)” is one of the deeper cuts in the Intangible Records & Soundworks catalogue.

There is no evidence of it on this reissue though - that bassline powers the tune perfectly as the plunging kick drums and dancing synths get you moving your body. Perfectly deployed vocals bring heart-aching soul as this most warm and dubby cut drowns you in timeless deep techno. Next to the gorgeous original mix is an extended dub for even more drawn-out late-night dance floor pleasures.

The alias of sisters Karen and Maxine Berlinski, Xclusiv emerged inconspicuously from the London borough of Croydon with a sophisticated vision of cosmic disco pop, linking the suburbs with Soho’s neon-tinted nightlife. Decades later, and in close collaboration with the sisters, this highly sought-after record arrives lovingly reissued by Phantasy in its original, sensuous form. Originally self-released on Le Maitre Music, a record label spun-off from their family-run fireworks and pyrotechnics company, ‘Fools Are Friendly’ has the irresistible sense of a radio hit that never was. A brilliant DIY reflection of the disco and soul that dominated the charts of the time, its glossy, primitive electronics echo the synth experiments of Giorgio Moroder or Didier Marouani, pioneers that were transforming pop music. The extended mix provides an overture to the sisters’ twinned vocals, unfolding with delectable disco drama. Chicago house great Lil Louis really nailed it when he wrote 'Cub Lonely' back in 1992 with his group The World. It was taken from their album A Journey With The Lonely and has lead vocals by Joi Cardwell that helped it become an instant club smash. All these years later it always gets a big reaction on the floor which is why it has now been reissued by Epic complete with a series of remixes. The I'm On The Guest List mix is the one with the wonky sax lines and steamy vocals, the instrumental is paired back and more club-ready then DJ Pierre's Afro club mix bringing some big and freewheeling synth energy. The Bellbottoms & Platforms mix is a subtle tweak and then the most raw of the lot is the Radically Lonely mix to close down.

compilation with a new EP named BLACK METROPOLIS.
Within its, at times, rough-hewn textures lies a core
that explores joy and energy within the roots of black
techno. In her words: “I want this release to be black
and beautiful, to be queer, and playful, a nostalgic nod
to the 90s but also reimagining it in the current times.”
The Ghana-born, London-bred, now Berlin-based
producer’s research into afro-futurism, envisaging
a path forward for science, technology and culture
through the black experience, has impressed a deep
vision on this EP. Yazzus sets like a cartographer, using
her tracks to explore a technologically advanced world,
each representing di erent regions and environments.
Human Error Processor introduces an ear-worming
percussion pattern nearly swamped by distorted bass
drums and a vocal sample screwed just beyond
recognition. Perforated leads with a 150bpm four to the
floor stomp, infectious and supercharged. Gluey synth
motions soak in an otherworldliness, where industrious,
mechanical rhythms map out futurist structures in all
directions.
Metro City Bay Area exhibits a ghettotech soul, lean and
bouncy - this part of the galaxy is an infinite source of
fun, with the heart of groove at it’s core. Three Deities
brings adventurers of its region towards higher powers,
its ravey synths and an engulfing bass provoke
a complete NRG release, ascending into a spiritual
trance where dense melodies bubble and fizz.
Digital-only track United By Fate meddles busy vocal
samples with searching melodies, a fitting end to the
kaleidoscopic that is BLACK METROPOLIS.
