Repress/Restock.
Canadian-born, London-based producer, songwriter and vocalist Chloé Raunet aka C.A.R. releases her third album, ‘Crossing Prior Street’, on Ransom Note Records. Full of bruised-but-ultimately- hopeful electronic art pop, the album tells Chloe’s story of escaping a broken childhood in Vancouver, and finding her way to the lonely streets of East London, at the tender age of 16.
“The one time in my life I lived alone, it was on a street called Prior. I was halfway through my teens and the place had lasting impact. This was a tiny, creaky flat, high in the eaves of an old wooden townhouse. Damp and cold, run down, sparsely furnished. Bare bulbs dangled from the ceiling, eyeing up the midnight visitors who’d come knowing at my fire escape. I’d let them in and lie limp as they crawled all over me. Thin mattress on the floor, welcoming whatever company I could get.”
An endorsement of the personal journey, ‘Crossing Prior Street’ is the sound of Raunet reconciling different sides of herself emotionally, artistically and sonically. The sparse production of minimal elements gives the album a direct punch. Booming drum machines, dissonant cold wave, skewed post punk and esoteric pop juxtapose but join in strange and interesting ways. Chloé cites this clash as a defining characteristic of the album, which was equally catalysed by her love of raw machine music and the catharsis of song.
Like the sun breaking through clouds, shining onto a grey rainy day, the album glistens. Although
proudly pop, there’s nothing idealistic, fake or saccharine here, as Raunet

C.A.R. - Shyana

C.A.R. - Cecilia Road
C.A.R. (Choosing Acronyms Randomly) is the musical project of Chloé Raunet, a Canadian-born, London-based artist known for her icy synths, warm vocals, and left-field pop sensibility. Drawing from post-punk, electro, and experimental songwriting, she creates music that’s both emotionally charged and sonically adventurous.
Following a five-year hiatus, C.A.R. returns with Shyana, the first single from her long-awaited fourth album, Dance at Oscar’s. Produced by Nathan Ridley, the release marks a creative rebirth: a new label, a new live formation with Joni Green, and a sound pulsing with revitalised energy. After a pandemic-induced break to focus on filmmaking — and a period of burnout and disillusionment — Raunet was ready to walk away from music altogether. But a pair of carried-over festival dates and an impromptu onstage reunion with longtime friend Joni Green unexpectedly reignited the spark. What was meant to be a farewell became the start of something new.
Shyana is a shimmering slice of machine-funk — a warped and groovy tribute to Paul Anka, filtered through C.A.R.’s surreal pop lens. A meditation on teen hysteria, pop manufacture, and the strange alchemy of early fame, the track pulses with wonky elegance and strutting confidence. One of the most playful cuts from Dance at Oscar’s, it showcases Nathan Ridley’s tight, swaggering production while capturing the album’s embrace of movement, humour, and the weirdness of cultural nostalgia.
On the B-side, Cecilia Road offers a more reflective counterpoint — a nostalgic, synth-drenched ballad built around a call-and-response vocal, throbbing melodies, and emotional tension. Intimate yet expansive, it hints at vulnerability without losing the pulse.
Artwork by Chloé Raunet, Craig Richards and Oliver Hupfau.

c.a.r. - Glock'd (The Asphodells Remix)
2
c.a.r. - Angelina (Manfredas Vocal Remix)
Following the huge success of DLM 004 and the massive appeal of Roman Flugel's remix of IDLE EYES (as charted by all from Dixon to Michael Mayer, Dan Avery to Maceo Plex), here's a little surprise from our camp. GLOCK'D is C.A.R's trademark washed out sarcasm, bleached cynicism, the track forages paths through Chloe's dark mind. It was one of the first tracks she wrote on her own, and was recorded down the bunker with Timothy J Fairplay. A favourite of Andrew Weatherall (who nominated MY FRIEND, the C.A.R album, as "one of the best releases of 2014), it’s now coming full-circle, being given a stomping shuffle air guitar dance-floor rework by The Asphodells … if you liked Our Lord Sabre's remix of FUCK BUTTON's this is for you. Electronics looking at the floor & air guitar. Following it is MANFREDAS (the protégé of LES DISQUES DE LA MORT) vocal version of Angelina, a request from many after the instrumental being released earlier this year. The Northern Wulf is biting again. AND HE BITES HARD.

Our new release has been a long time coming and is the first collaboration between those evil twins that are LDDLM and KILL THE DJ, two labels joined at the hips. C.A.R. is Chloe Raunet's project, whose album MY FRIEND will be released on October 25th on KTDJ. This is obviously an important project all round for her and for us and there was so much to do that two labels was a perfect idea. She originally wrote the lyrics for Gesaffelstein, who turned them down in favour of another two tracks they'd done together. A new song was woven from the words. Roman Flugel is not only an old friend of the family but also one of our favourite producer. His album on DIAL and recent remixes has proven that he's on the top of his game. There are bleeps, there are subs, and Chloe's vocal drifting on top of a general electronic monster. Kill the DJ commissioned the Planningtorock remix and we loved it so much that we "stole it' for our vinyl release. Jam has made the song hers, pitching down the vocal, punking up the bass grove and adding, yes, disco strings. Manfredas remix of Angelina has been Ivan's biggest record for the whole of last year, licensed by Rebolledo for his mixed CD and causing stir here and there. The 12" will include the instrumental version but as friends, you are getting both. This is a very hard track to describe, a cross between a panzer and Rondo Veneziano on acid. It's for those who dares. Finally, Robert Johnson and Hinvern new wunderkid, Benedikt Frey (his Blanc 002 was…) delivers a brilliant acid rendering but not a cliché plastic warehouse things. This builds and builds and builds… The EP has already been getting great support from Dixon, Dan Avery, Erol Alkan, Ten Walls, and Ivan Smagghe..

Froid Dub - Terri's Dub
Ransom Note Records welcome illustrious French Electronic duo Froid Dub to the fold for their new 12” vinyl release, Tears Maker Chant. Head honchos of the wonderful Delodio label, Stéphane and François mark the 50th release for R$N Recs, and this is without a shadow of a doubt an incredibly special one. So, sit back and ready yourself for some inimitable Froid Dub cuts; laid back but pounding, graceful yet aggressive but above all, thoroughly danceable.
Opening proceedings is the acid tinged Just One, a masterclass in making people dance at under 80bpm. Achingly gorgeous polysynth chords rain down, hovering like a film overhead the saturated 303 line that wobbles along in the low end. First single On The Nose enters next, with a delightfully soft, round bass that feels like bouncing around a padded room. Inside a Zorb. On MDMA. More echoed, analogue motifs dart from left to right, confirming with strong conviction that our chaps from Paris put the Dub in Indubitably Fantastic.
Digital Pond closes side A of the 12”, a low slung, nonchalant piece of mood music. Idiosyncratically “French” , brittle chords piece the sound stage, evoking past Italo Disco spaces, but remaining conscientiously chug-dubbed out. Second single Control (Special Mix) opens side B... with a capital B. For Banger. Another Space Echo heavy workout in the lower frequencies of the audio spectrum, this is testament to the old adage that less is often, a hell of a lot more (to paraphrase).
The titular Tears Maker glides into view next, with its frantic 808 patterns and spacey melodica, setting the scene for the majesty to follow. This epically proportioned tune is probably going to be a little passe come the end of summer, because it’s going to be played at festivals the world over relentlessly. Be warned! Finally Terri’s Dub brings matters to a close, with its angular, stands and woozy vocals, we’re given the space and tie to contemplate what has just happened to us on two mere sides of vinyl.
Artwork by Sylvia Tournerie, mastered by Krikor Kouchian.

Wave Arising - Golden Black
To be released on Ransom Note Records and marking the debut album of Wave Arising project , "(The) Rooted Sky" is an invitation to an initiatory journey where intuitions are channeled into grooves and otherworldly sonic landscapes . A sound where intense rhythms meet circular expansions .
From various improvisations, the experienced & avant-garde musician Sebastian Vaughan decided to take a fresh look and avoid the use of sampling third parties by crafting compositions. An approach to music as a spiritual path driven all the way long by psychedelic dubby vibes , acidic frequencies & hypnotic repetitions coming from his sound-system culture heritage .
While the tracks "It Comes and Goes" , "Ronde Cinétique" , "Electric Shrine" and "Golden Black" draw contemporary almost cinematic ambiences with vibrant and spacious feelings , "Monin Yiri" , "Sound Loves Dance" & "Grow with the Flow" represent a series of energetic deconstructed leftfields , with the omnipresence of a singular tribalism that emphases the african side of Wave Arising .
On its own "Music without chains" is , as the title underlines , a joyful jam free from any boxes or attempts at confinement .
Finally "Subconscience" arrives like a probe , a dreamlike piece full of endless reverbs from Kynsie's voice ; generating mysterious environments and resonating directly with "Soul Whispers" .
Taking on the challenge of fusion , "(The) Rooted Sky" asks the listener to open up through a collection of progressive tracks reflecting the core of Wave Arising’s spirit : Music & Body as a portal . Through this consciously chosen wide range of dynamics , the producer shows his musical ability to create an unique sonic palette yet staying true to his own personality .
Regarding the cover, the outside is a minimalist yet symbolic photograph of the duo’s hands. As for the interior, Wave Arising is very grateful to welcome primitive artworks by the talented artist Rapoon , one of the founder members of the legendary group Zoviet*France . Continuing with this global vision of intertwined arts, the videos accompanying this record are created by Wave Arising .
Ultimately , the recurrent animistic vibes of "(The) Rooted Sky" give to the album a spiritual ethos directly driven by the book of Nature reminding us that, we are all connected to the Source .
Whatever the "Source" means for each one . . .

From 1989 onwards, Richard was an obsessive collector of house and techno music, frequenting legendary London record shops such as Fat Cat, Silverfish, Trax and Red Records. He took record buying trips to New York to find second-hand disco, house and techno 12"s, which were lying around in bargain bins. The selection for this compilation are his own personal favourites from that era. Back then, electronic dance music was young, innocent and fun; it hadn"t been analysed, theorised and fragmented into the multi-genre industry it is today.

Bawrut - Atchu
Summer's in the air, and with impeccable timing, Bawrut returns with his fourth EP for Ransom Note Records! From ‘Ciquita’ to ‘Rumba’ to ‘Three Sounds’, the Madrid-based producer has been providing DJs with off-kilter dance floor ammunition for years now, amassing a dedicated following in the process. Out 13th September on 12” and digital, the Pronto Arpeggio EP is arguably his biggest and best collection to date. It’s certainly his silliest, kicking things off with a frankly absurd title track. Clocking in at almost 11 minutes, ‘Pronto Arpeggio’ is a prog techno labyrinth of fakeouts, tempo switches, thwacking kickdrums, and huge synths like if Giorgio Moroder did the music for Tomorrow’s World . So yeah, not your average mid-set toilet break tool (although if you want to use it for that, we won’t judge you). ‘Shooreee’ is classic Bawrut with a psychedelic twist, like spiking your own Negroni with mescaline. This sweaty, slow-burn acid weapon bides its time before erupting into a potent payoff. ‘Atchu’ carves its way through laser bleeps and dub FX, built around an unforgettable vocal sample that’ll be lodged in your skull for months whether you like it or not.
When it came to the remixes, we thought it was only right to enlist some of Bawrut’s biggest supporters. KiNK chisels ‘Pronto Arpeggio’ into a vlean slab of high-velocity machine funk, while Ruf Dug teases out the gentler side of ‘Shooreee’, resulting in a melodic track that feels tailor- made made for Mediterranean sunsets.
Bawrut absolutely ruled the festivals in 2018 with ‘More Cowbell’ and we’re expecting more of the same this year as he continues to go from strength to strength. Forza!

Forza!

bawrut - Ghettoscar
We’re proud to kickstart Bawrut’s 2018 with 4x4, a brand new EP of typically leftfield bangers. These four tracks come on like a whirlwind journey through a Bawrut DJ set, with something for every time of the night. 'Ghettoscar' fuses African chants with burbling acid, building the kind of goodtime dancefloor warmth Bawrut is famed for. 'More Cowbell' does exactly what you’d expect, giving DJs a glorious, cowbell-powered disco bomb that fuses the spirit of Incredible Bongo Band with classic NYC house. 'I Hear Voices' is a crazy ride, with an expertly cut up vocal sample repurposed into a weird, descending riff that’s quite unlike anything else out there. Throw in Bawrut’s trademark kitbag of carnival whistles, rattling Latin percussion and a creeping acid line that works itself up into a soul-salving joy and you’ve got a modern classic on your hands.

Mother of Mars is the latest evolution of Vito & Druzzi, two New Yorkers who have provided the 21st century with some of its most innovative dance music. The duo first came to fame as the rhythmic backbone of The Rapture, NYC pioneers who found global fame with their angular post-punk and howling disco. Since then Vito & Druzzi have had a prolific career as remixers and producers, producing leftfield disco killers for a range of labels including Warp and Throne of Blood. Seed 2 Sky - their first release as Mother of Mars - sees the duo fuse live krautrock drums with pulsating synth loops, creating two epics of space and rhythm that owe a debt to ‘70s kosmische pioneers like Tangerine Dream.

Bawrut’s Ciquita was the first 12” we released on Ransom Note Records. It sold out in a month, got hammered by as disparate range of DJs we could have hoped for (everyone from Jackmaster to Optimo to Boys Noize to Alfredo gave it a rinsing) and single-handedly deflected the rampaging forces of 2016 shittiness wherever it went. Opener Rumba is exotic space trance made to soundtrack lysergic orgies on hothouse planets (or, as Boiler Room put it “a piping hot acidic screamer specially crafted for peak times”). Routa is a beefy banger dedicated to Ruta Del Bakalao (aka the greatest Spanish rave doc ever made), with all the gleefully belligerent stomp of Homework era Daft Punk. Tano is an alchemical concoction, transmuting handclaps, chirrups, chants, 303s, and deep state meditation into a starburst explosion of unfettered joy.

Ciquita is the high point of a party distilled into 7 minutes of good-time genius; burbling 303, jittering percussion and hooting Latin House chants spiking the track like someone slung pills in the punch. For the 5th installment of Adultnapper's illustrious Ransom Note, we welcome into the fray Paul Kominek, otherwise known as Pawel (Dial/Orphan Ear) with two sublimely beautiful compositions of modern electronic music. There is not many words to describe the feeling of these pieces. They run deep into the soul of house and techno. Moving, yet intelligent, Pawel's plaintive take on dance music is unique in sound, but profoundly universal in feeling, connecting to emotions that seem rare these days on the dance floor. With powerful peak time remixes by New York's Alexi Delano and Brendon Moeller, Ransom Note Part Five should make some noise in the coming months. From the desk of Adultnapper, as inspired by Lines and Curves... As you well know, parallel paths are foreordained entities of diversity. As they travel further away from their origins, the more attraction tends to set in, not as a spiritual mechanism, but, rather, as a physical replication or limitless mimicry. One trajectory makes reference to the other, leading to a barrier, a zero crossing, some sort of cessation of thought. Lines become curves and act as waking agents for the soul as it approaches its limit. Sometimes this process is disrupted, as is the case this time. I have lost something on the way and I seem to be stuck in the place where I lost it. I feel anchored here and need to find a way to move again. There is not much time.

Fooled only by qualities insomuch as they indicate not only the direction of my movements, but also their magnitude, I can only assume that momentum as it pertains to my own thoughts, is linear, but often the concepts floating around in my head tell me there is an expiration date on reason, as the clarity of vision relating to thought is fading into a remarkable ineptitude. However, as luck will have it, I have shifted into another sign, leading me to believe that thought can sometimes flip. Into what you ask? I can only answer succinctly once I have established that we are together and that I am not alone. I have conserved all that I am allowed brick by brick. Now it‚ is your turn. delusional machinery of everyday life blindly stretches the forces that shape our lives into an asinine periphery, an ultraviolet fantasy for weak minds, nature has only a fleeting sufferance for the reversal of its involuntary movements. Maxwell’s Demon is not just a mathematical proposition, it is alive and kicking in the beige strip malls, sweaty megaplexes, and vertiginous mini golf parks of class optimism. As the ordered penchant for division increases, paranoia proliferates a thousandfold, and in this constant state of implosion the laughably purposeful complexities of human machinery reveal themselves as a collective sublimation from matter organized under the sign of a smoking gun. Adultnapper lays down a fresh original mix and mastermind Alexi Delano cleans and tightens the cut.

CAF? is really happy to welcome a new member in their family. Active in various projects since 1993(!), Héloïse is the latest solo project of Zurich-based singer and musician Sabina Leone. With her second EP “Rubbish Rubbish”, she explores endless musical possibilities with healthy greed. Her music builds on multiple layers, combining loops to merge voices and drums into hypnotic rhythms. Genuine, generous, gritty, Rubbish Rubbish is an adventurous journey through different genres: expect weird dub, Casio pop anthem, droney laments, and drums extravaganzas.

Essential repress of the perennial DJ favorite now available on wax again for the first time since the original press in 2021! The music is compiled from two rare 12" releases dating back to the early 90s produced by Jason Adkins (who we sadly lost in 2024), and co-produced by Tony Boninsegna (whose work the labels covered extensively in the 4xLP anthology Notes From Underground), and finally remastered by Thomas P. Heckmann. The production team shared many musical inspirations, most notably Detroit techno, jacking Chicago house, EBM, the industrial funk of Cabaret Voltaire and the pioneering bleep sounds of Warp Records' earliest releases. As a result, the tracks they made brilliantly blurred the boundaries between contemporaneous electronic music styles while also adding layers of technical polish so often missing from British club tracks of the period. The completed, released version of 'Tone Float' remains an overlooked UK classic – a gorgeous mixture of squelchy acid bass, sharp TB-303 lines, ethereal chords and whispered spoken word snippets – while the accompanying remix, which is also featured on Garden of Eden, brilliantly re-imagines the cut as a funk-fuelled, deep electro beast.

In 2012, Prince Fatty produced a signature dub reworking of tracks from Hollie Cook’s debut 2012 LP, plus a selection of other choice dub-infused covers. Mr Bongo now presents a fresh repress on blue vinyl of this classic album.
In the tradition of vintage reggae albums, renowned producer Prince Fatty took to the controls and dubbed out Hollie Cook's self-titled debut album from 2011. In trademark dub fashion, Prince Fatty strips back Hollie’s classic reggae and tropical pop productions, adding in extra bass alongside delays, tape echoes, and reverbs to Hollie’s captivating vocals. The resulting versions give the songs space to breathe, whilst adding in a weighty, heads-down element to the productions.
As Prince Fatty mentions, “The dub versions showcase real tape echoes, heavy spring reverbs and alternate instrumental elements such as melodica, percussion or horns that were hidden in the vocal versions. All the dubs are mixed live in my studio in the same Rub a Dub style as was made famous in ‘70s Jamaica by King Tubby and others, i.e, not with the use of computers for automation and endless digital nonsense but with fingers, late night vibes and re-arranged with a razor blade!”.
In addition to the tracks featured from the debut album, this dub release features mixes of Hollie Cook and Prince Fatty’s cover version of The Whispers’ disco classic ‘And The Beat Goes On’ and ‘For Me You Are Dub’, a ska cover of an old Andrews Sisters’ classic. Alongside that, there’s a delicious adaptation of the Shangri-Las’ legendary record ‘Walking in the Sand’, and ‘Baby’, a revamp of the heavily requested anthem, in collaboration with French synth-pop outfit, The Shoes.
Thirteen years on, this superb dub album sounds as quintessential and authentic as ever.

Cosmic Voodoo is an immersive musical experience that combines the best of cosmic disco with the pulsating energy of contemporary electronica. Through alternating synthesizers and acoustic instruments, this project presents an irresistible arsenal of sound.
This is the second volume of four that will create a unique graphic work created by the famous Aldo Drudi.
Written and produced by Daniele Baldelli, undisputed master of cosmic-disco, and Mattia “Matta” Dallara, sound explorer and producer of Cosmic Temple, this EP is a journey that evokes dreamy and nostalgic atmospheres, perfectly in line with disco roots.
The tracks unfold between enveloping grooves, spacey synthesizers and rhythms that pay homage to the 1980s, generating a sound that is both classic and innovative. An electronic tribal ritual, a dancing spell that can transport the listener to a parallel universe full of psychedelic sounds and magnetic beats.
Ideal for those who like to lose themselves in the depths of sound and be guided by vibrations that oscillate between past and future.
