Soulful hip hop instrumentals from Italy on Best Record-affiliated Quattro Bambole! "The "Moderna Sonorizzazioni" series by Quattro Bambole Music continues its investigation of the infinite expressive possibilities of instrumental hip-hop, recognizing it as the most contemporary form of library music. After the first two chapters - signed by Biga and JayBee Vibes - the third volume of the series, "Sport & Calcio", features the Roman producer Delphi for whom there was a lot of anticipation on the part of both Italian and scattered beatmakers everywhere in Europe and the United States. With the subtitle which is already a declaration of intent ''Tales of a boy from Rome....'' etc. etc., "Sport & Calcio" is an instrumental fresco in which football and sport become narrative pretexts to evoke images, memories and suggestions. The twelve tracks that make up the album are real cinematic sketches, in which Delphi (born Valerio Del Prete) combines raw beats, nostalgic loops, sample-delia and a narrative that evokes family Sundays, spent on the street as well as stadium, and the heat of the crowded stands. Therefore a work that is musically declined based on moments and emotions.. ''Sport & Calcio'' is therefore a deliberately introspective and not very ''danceable'' work. A great mixture of jazz, funk, afrobeat and house on new album by Italian outfit Asakaira for Quattro Bambole. "Asakaira is the name of a place that does not exist, an "invisible city" that is the backdrop to the meeting of four musicians. Michele Vassallo (sax and efx), Giuseppe Desiderio (bass), Francesco Fasanaro (percussion) and Giuseppe Limpido (drums) who together have already gone through various experiences to immerse themselves in an imaginary space, of the border! So, they exploit this nature to transcend the limit, throwing caution to the wind with carefree abandon, but not before carefully noting the history and legacy of jazz, hip-hop and afrobeat. Asakaira' s sound is psychedelic, fluid, constantly evolving: afrobeat & jazz punk alternate with funk, electronic music of Mediterranean culture. An absolutely "stateless" sound, while maintaining its own timbre and stylistic coherence to make it recognizable. The choice of not having a harmonic instrument present in the lineup gives ample space to electronic effects and the groove, creating a sort of modern ritual. The eponymous debut album, released by Quattro Bambole Records, consists of seven tracks, in which the ability to reinterpret their native sounds with polysemic rhythms emerges in a work where layered drums and percussions intertwine with effected saxophones and psychedelic bass lines. A path that moves between songs with a more "ethereal" ancestry, such as the opening track "Night Tales", an acoustic groove that rests on the use of the handpan, an idiophone instrument that gives the song a psychedelic vibration and like "Chatting With You" where a soft and extended overlapping of multiple musical meters emerges, between neo soul, jazz and hip-hop."

AZZURRO is the soundtrack of a summer vacation in Italy of the Hungarian dj/producer duo "Pleasure Voyage". The label Quattro Bambole continues on his Adriatic Funk series blessing a new summer with the rightest vibes. Available on vinyl and on all digital stores.
The concept of the record was like a week-long vacation in Italy. It starts with jazzy, slower sessions and progresses to an italo-jazzy-house gem, Summer Voyage. Passionate vocals with smooth Rhodes solo and licks on this track. Following some clubby tunes Electromarea and Dolphine Dance as a nightlife hangout, and a remix by the label founder Francesco FIsotti with cool vocals follows.
Finally, with the last tune, you can feel the bittersweet emotions when you are on your way to the airport to leave this magical country, but you have some souvenirs on your skin that they call “Ambraskin” (tanned skin) and the visual memories of the crystal clear sea they often call Mare Azzurro.

Handpicked by Terrence Parker himself, both remixers offer fresh takes on two of the standout tracks of the original LP.

For the first and last track of the EP Michele Chiavarini reworks 'Just Like Muzik', with a bass lick which dances in and out of shuffling hats, channelling the high energy of the original house patterns and stabs into something different. Soulful pad progressions merge with Merachka's original vocal, before energetic strings and vibraphone solo take over, carrying the listener along.

DJ Steve Crawford's remix of 'The Sabath' sees him transpose the arpeggiated synth rhythm and pads of the original into a fresh grooving 4/4 affair. Congas and punching kicks meet with harmonious string melody and slapped bass, creating a head-nodding reimagining of the master.

Feel safe: like newborn, take your first careful steps on a clean slate while Maayan is your supervisor. Naïve and happy, you leave carbonbon footprints on your way into the positives. Your nonplus motion interferes with environmental geometry. A memory from an analog past flashes like a daydream. Josh Ludlow has been steadily honing his craft over the past 15 years. Starting out releasing Drum & Bass under the ‘Squash!’ moniker in the late 2000’s whilst also playing drums in bands. The former gave way to live touring and it was only in 2020 when Josh resurfaced with some new electronic music.

The impetus for releasing this new material was when Josh Ludlow & Ben Lewis formed there beloved project ‘Make A Dance’ (which then went on to establish the imprint) M.A.D. Records during the pandemic.
Since then M.A.D have made a big impact on the underground scene, become regulars at places such as Fabric, Heidegluhen, Gottwood and gained DJ support of propel such as Laurent Garnier, Optimo, Palms Trax and Peggy Gou and across BBC Radio1 and regularly Cover show’s on NTS for Long Running Host’s Moxie and Apiento.

This is just the beginning.

Still on their six-legged victory lap following the massive success of the Blessed EP, Tiga & The Martinez Brothers look to the outer limits of techno and beyond for the remixes. “Blessed was a baby born of friendship, and you don’t turn your baby over to some dude making ‘dark, atmospheric bangers' on Ableton. You take that baby, you put on her bonnet and you entrust her to some of the most successful men in the world so you can take your wife salsa dancing for once,” says Tiga.

Longtime Turbo target Ricardo Villalobos delivers his personal magic on the remix of “Cleopatra." This is not the kind of everyday magic you’d find in a kind word from a stranger or the childlike wonder of a child. This is the good kind of magic.

Louis Vuitton Creative Director/Off-White mastermind Virgil Abloh, one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, was a big fan of “Blessed,” and turns in a remix that is closer to "future jazz” than Tiga would have accepted from anyone else on that list, except for maybe Hugh Jackman. Abloh also designed the artwork for the release, which depicts the fall of man as seen through the eyes of a jean jacket.

“I speak for everyone at Turbo when I say we are delighted and honoured to bring these two friends and creative forces into the fold,” says Tiga. “Some people well tell you that hatred and divisiveness are the answers to society’s ills, but I respectfully disagree. It’s friendship that’s gonna see us through. If I can convince two of today’s leading cultural figures to roll up their sleeves and figure out my remix pack, imagine what I could do if given control of a small country. I don’t see any other labels making these kinds of claims, and to me that says a lot.”

EVOLV is a visionary window into the mind of Dubfire, the journey of the ‘hybrid’ being and its evolution. Last year in October, an 11-track debut album was released on his long-standing SCI+TEC imprint. And now, just over a year later, Grammy award winning producer Dubfire returns to that sonic discourse, drafting in an impressive array of names to re-interpret the material, and accompanied by Dubfire's new audio-visual EVOLV show which picked up where the critically acclaimed electronic performance experience HYBRID had left off.
The eclectic package will include such notables as Glaskin, Arjun Vagale, Nadia Struiwigh, Mathimidori (dub alias of Mathias Kaden), Maral, Decka, DEAS, Carl Craig, Truncate, Drumcell, Chris Liebing, and Luke Slater as L.B. Dub Corp who have all given the original music in their own unique style.
With a career spanning over 3 decades, Dubfire has achieved global success as an artist with relentless drive, talent, and intuition. Pioneering commercial notoriety came initially as one half of the Grammy Award-winning (2001) duo Deep Dish, before embarking on a truly groundbreaking solo career in 2007. A career filled with timeless tracks include his early works, ‘RibCage’ (2007), ‘Emissions' (2007), ‘Roadkill’ (2007) and the highly acclaimed ‘Grindhouse’ (2009) remix from Radio Slave which led to a host of other notable projects over the years.
Collaborative work highlights include projects with Miss Kitten, Luke Slater, Flug, and Oliver Huntemann, as well as co-producing two songs on Underworld’s Barking album. A true artist, he has always been heavily invested in exploring performance technology, unveiled to wide praise with his HYBRID live show. A two-year world tour commenced in 2015 and was followed by his retrospective album, A Decade Of Dubfire (2017), a celebration of his immense output during the first 10 years of solo artist stardom.
