Pentola - Milan In Blue
"Grey Hoodie is the 1st official album of the young producer and DJ Pentola, born in Apulia and based in Milan. Grey Hoodie is a mixture of electronic vibes inspired by the UK sound from 90s and 2000s. Broken-Beat, UK Garage, Jungle, Deep-House are the ingredients of these 8 tracks in which you can also recognize a post-Dilla flavor, all embellished by the presence of jazz musicians like Stefano De Santis, G-Foxxx and Stefano Nardon, and the singer Aljiaa. Anyone could write a good review of this album just by listening to the snippets that compose it and realize the conceptuality of the work that aims to achieve different goals, including that of being the album made with the greatest passion possible and with the greatest spirit of aggregation. Grey Hoodie is Pentola's sonic refuge, the place where the artist feels most at ease, where he manages to bring together the harmonies of jazz with the percussions and grooves of modern electronic music with that "touch" inspired by J Dilla, leader of Detroit's underground hip-hop scene in the mid-1990s."

Gelateria Fisotti (a real gelato spot located in Otranto, Apulia) chose to give life to the "Gelato Italiano" project in 2023, with the idea of creating a soundtrack that would be able to enter the Gelateria spaces as a protagonist. A compilation that presents the contributions of different artists, moving between disco, house, broken-beat, with different nuances within it, almost like the various flavors of an ice cream and which this year reaches its 3rd volume. The sound is unfailingly summery, in balance between "body" and "sweetness"

Adriatic funk from Apulia, artigianal gelato, film photography, dolce vita, landscapes, authentic italo flavour

Soulful hip hop instrumentals from Italy on Best Record-affiliated Quattro Bambole! "The "Moderna Sonorizzazioni" series by Quattro Bambole Music continues its investigation of the infinite expressive possibilities of instrumental hip-hop, recognizing it as the most contemporary form of library music. After the first two chapters - signed by Biga and JayBee Vibes - the third volume of the series, "Sport & Calcio", features the Roman producer Delphi for whom there was a lot of anticipation on the part of both Italian and scattered beatmakers everywhere in Europe and the United States. With the subtitle which is already a declaration of intent ''Tales of a boy from Rome....'' etc. etc., "Sport & Calcio" is an instrumental fresco in which football and sport become narrative pretexts to evoke images, memories and suggestions. The twelve tracks that make up the album are real cinematic sketches, in which Delphi (born Valerio Del Prete) combines raw beats, nostalgic loops, sample-delia and a narrative that evokes family Sundays, spent on the street as well as stadium, and the heat of the crowded stands. Therefore a work that is musically declined based on moments and emotions.. ''Sport & Calcio'' is therefore a deliberately introspective and not very ''danceable'' work. Sound photographs, short descriptions, themes, small fragments associated with television reports on sport... with which the artist touches chords that allow him to express a different compositional depth, a conceptual work, more descriptive and functional to the line of "Moderna Sonorizzazioni" series."

A great mixture of jazz, funk, afrobeat and house on new album by Italian outfit Asakaira for Quattro Bambole. "Asakaira is the name of a place that does not exist, an "invisible city" that is the backdrop to the meeting of four musicians. Michele Vassallo (sax and efx), Giuseppe Desiderio (bass), Francesco Fasanaro (percussion) and Giuseppe Limpido (drums) who together have already gone through various experiences to immerse themselves in an imaginary space, of the border! So, they exploit this nature to transcend the limit, throwing caution to the wind with carefree abandon, but not before carefully noting the history and legacy of jazz, hip-hop and afrobeat. Asakaira' s sound is psychedelic, fluid, constantly evolving: afrobeat & jazz punk alternate with funk, electronic music of Mediterranean culture. An absolutely "stateless" sound, while maintaining its own timbre and stylistic coherence to make it recognizable. The choice of not having a harmonic instrument present in the lineup gives ample space to electronic effects and the groove, creating a sort of modern ritual. The eponymous debut album, released by Quattro Bambole Records, consists of seven tracks, in which the ability to reinterpret their native sounds with polysemic rhythms emerges in a work where layered drums and percussions intertwine with effected saxophones and psychedelic bass lines. A path that moves between songs with a more "ethereal" ancestry, such as the opening track "Night Tales", an acoustic groove that rests on the use of the handpan, an idiophone instrument that gives the song a psychedelic vibration and like "Chatting With You" where a soft and extended overlapping of multiple musical meters emerges, between neo soul, jazz and hip-hop."

''Sugar'' is the first work of the italian disco-funk band Le Dune, a new project led by Francesco Fisotti. The electronic drums and synthesizers blend with groovy bassline, sparkling guitars and pop-oriented vocals. In addition to the radio version, in the "Extended Mix" more space is given to the groove, the instrumental version is more percussive and tribal, in the end "La Notte Mix" is a late 80s proto-house edit co-produced by Issam Dahmani.

AZZURRO is the soundtrack of a summer vacation in Italy of the Hungarian dj/producer duo "Pleasure Voyage". The label Quattro Bambole continues on his Adriatic Funk series blessing a new summer with the rightest vibes. Available on vinyl and on all digital stores.
The concept of the record was like a week-long vacation in Italy. It starts with jazzy, slower sessions and progresses to an italo-jazzy-house gem, Summer Voyage. Passionate vocals with smooth Rhodes solo and licks on this track. Following some clubby tunes Electromarea and Dolphine Dance as a nightlife hangout, and a remix by the label founder Francesco FIsotti with cool vocals follows.
Finally, with the last tune, you can feel the bittersweet emotions when you are on your way to the airport to leave this magical country, but you have some souvenirs on your skin that they call “Ambraskin” (tanned skin) and the visual memories of the crystal clear sea they often call Mare Azzurro.

“Popcorn” looks at the world of contemporary R&B but from inside a club immersed in the glitter of 80s New York. The productions curated by Francesco Fisotti are accompanied by the arrangements made by a group of exceptional musicians, such as Roberto Chiga, Filippo Bubbico and Andrea Rossetti, with the addition of the vocal participation of Vincenzo Destradis. In this ensemble, Done's flow merges with the carpets of 909/808 drum machines and synths such as the Korg M1 and Juno 106, giving birth to an album with a strong swingbeat heart but which also flirts with boogie funk and smooth jazz.
After wearing out Strictly Rhythm records, looking at icons like Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and Teddy Riley, being inspired by the touch of producers like Kaytranada, with "Popcorn" Done not only demonstrates his versatility and his ability to experiment, but takes us on a musical journey that pushes us to reconsider the past to imagine an even brighter future

Butterflies go through a four-staged life cycle: egg, caterpillar, pupa (chrysalis) and then adult as a butterfly. The transformation from caterpillar to butterfly happens in the chrysalis where the caterpillar body dies to give life to a new, beautifully winged body. This album is an ideal soundtrack to this amazing
phenomena, a representation to inner transformation and deep evolution.

Your Grandparents are fascinated with time. It can neither be created nor killed; there’s never enough of it, but it can stretch on forever. Time is a form of currency that can be saved, spent, and gambled away. It can be wasted. Wounds heal, the flocks march from field to fold, and, in the end, it makes fools of us all. “I think time is a circle, infinitely repeating itself,” says producer Cole Thompson. “And there’s a bunch of smaller circles within the larger one. Everything we experience is cyclical in the micro and macro.”
On their drink sum wtr debut, The Dial, the Los Angeles trio — producer Cole Thompson and vocalists DaCosta and Jean Carter — deeply consider these disparate ideas. The record works as a meditation on time, but posits that in order to truly grasp the concept and all of its ambient qualities, one must remain rooted in the present. The group, who met in middle school in Culver City and are now in their mid-late 20s, has been making music for a decade, patiently watching the pieces of their career fall into place. They seemed to snatch their genre-agnostic but hip-hop-rooted songs from the cosmos, seizing on a moment of inspiration — a loop here, a turn of phrase there — and proceeding in a stream of consciousness. “We’d link up in the studio, and whatever anyone experienced in a week is what ended up on the track,” says Thompson.
The Dial took shape more slowly, the result of what DaCosta calls “focused intentionality.” “There was a shift in our mindset,” he explains, “We wanted to be more comfortable going back to the drawing board and refining.” All told, the album took shape over the course of more than two years. After some initial sessions in Joshua Tree, Your Grandparents chipped away at The Dial, careful not to rush any one element into place. The result is stunning: a kaleidoscopic trip through heartaches and joys, moments of frustration and hope. Cole Thompson’s production reaches through time, gathering up influences from divergent eras and meshing them into a singular whole. There’s the house-meets-G-funk slink of “Be Cool,” the smooth Dilla-time boogie of “Down,” and the ESG-informed dance-punk of “BAD NEWS.” DaCosta and Jean Carter are deft performers, effortlessly switching from elastic band rap flows to golden-hued melodies.
Album opener, “The Dial,” establishes the theme. By the time the trio sat down to complete the song, they’d landed on their time motif but needed a way to fully express it. “We wanted to relay that message that things will work out when they’re supposed to,” says DaCosta. “The best way to get the most out of hard situations is to keep your head down and work with integrity.” Jean Carter and DaCosta float over Thompson and Josh Conway’s breezy funk instrumental, singing, “Now when my sun sets, and I look at the dial/ I wanna surely say I wasted no time.” It’s a warm, inviting tune, one that came together over the course of only a couple days and, as Thompson says, “sounds exactly like how it felt to make it.”
Over the dreamy '90s pop sonics of “Ali & Jen,” the vocalists ruminate on life’s harder lessons, understanding that with time comes wisdom, recognizing the necessity of more painful moments. “Conversations,” a late album highlight, is an exercise in vulnerability. “It’s very therapy-inspired,” Jean Carter reveals. “I was trying to take more of an initiative toward bettering my mental health. It was another pocket of purpose we could tap into: People are feeling these things, but not nearly enough people are getting help. We wanted to normalize those emotions and offer something people can jam when they feeling that type of way.”
Your Grandparents’ songs are big-hearted and welcoming, filled with the wide-eyed wonder of youth and the sobering wisdom of aging. They’re writing about the ethereality of it all, the moments that contour your existence, the things you’ll look back on when doing that final assessment. The Dial is a beautiful, empathetic piece of work that understands the contexts from which it came and builds upon them, walking that fine line between contemporary and timeless.

Info
Italian producer and DJ Jacy remains one of the stand-out musical characters from a dazzling ensemble of atmosphere builders who were so prevalent during the late 80s and early 90s. His craftsmanship is simply legendary, his music quite simply some of the finest to exude from this period of time, and of which is still making waves in the collective sands now. His dedication to the creation of emotive sweeps, gorgeous rippling tones and easy going, freeing atmospheres has remained a cornerstone of his sound, from the early days through to his excellent work on his imprint Home of House. Jacy’s sound was broadcast to the world once again via Safe Trip’s ‘Welcome To Paradise’ compilations, where his inclusions were something that lingered long in the memory – an essential component of what is known as the ‘Dream House’ sound. It’s difficult to convey into words exactly how a Jacy record can take the listener, but perhaps it’s different for everyone – one thing can be agreed on though, it’s an experience like no other.

Theo Kottis - Drone

Theo Kottis - Momentum
London-based DJ and producer Theo Kottis steps into a defining new chapter with his debut EP on fabric Originals. Theo is on his best form - following a run of acclaimed EPs on Dekmantel and FUSE London, affirming his place as a versatile & vital force in underground music. This new EP sees him channel his signature sound through the venue’s rich legacy & forward-thinking ethos. The result is a bold and genre-bending body of work, shaped by both personal reflection and creative momentum. Opening track Drone was born out of angst - heard through the powerful synths, weighty bassline & unrelenting energy, capturing the tension of that moment. In contrast, Momentum introduces lush pads & evolving textures, expressing a sense of release and optimism, a reflection of renewed focus and belief in the road ahead. Together, the two tracks form a deeply personal narrative, blending emotional resonance with club-ready impact. With momentum building across 2024, this release signals an exciting evolution for Theo Kottis as he continues to shape dancefloors well into 2025 & beyond.

It was the 90s. Paris had the blues, French rap was beginning its slow rise, and a new musical genre was emerging: Acid Jazz. Imported from England by DJ Gilles Peterson, this groovy style blended 70s funk with a certain idea of jazz tailored for the dancefloor. Its heroes were Galliano, Brand New Heavies, Incognito, and the James Taylor Quartet. Jamiroquai topped the charts, MC Solaar recorded with Urban Species, and suddenly, France was swept up in the swing whirlwind.
Starting in 1993, Parisian clubs embraced this union of jazz and groove, and in 1994, a compilation was released: Paris Groove Up. Around ten groups delivered the French version of this British style: Mellowman, Mad In Paris, Vercoquin, Ready Made... and Dis Bonjour À La Dame. The band wasn’t new—their roots went back to the late 80s, when bassist Marc Israël brought together a brass section and some seasoned musicians. But the real beginning of DBALD came in 1992 with the arrival of singer Sital. "Christophe Denis joined on guitar and songwriting. In 1993, we opened for Jamiroquai and Maceo Parker, and that’s when the major labels interested in the acid jazz market started noticing us," recalls Marc.
Their track Chris’tal, the centerpiece of the compilation, was released as a single, and Dis Bonjour À La Dame's album began production in late 1994 in London, at Roundhouse Studio. “We must’ve been among the last sessions there—it was demolished shortly after. It was a very 70s studio, with old gear, a Fender Rhodes, everything was vintage! We recorded for a month, all playing together live, then added the brass and finally Sital’s vocals. We were lucky to have two exceptional backing singers, Sarah Brown and Mark Anthoni, who worked with Incognito and Urban Species.”
The self-titled album came out in early 1995, and it had all the ingredients of a hidden funky gem from the 90s: Hey Mama with its ironclad groove, the irresistible instrumental Sheherazade Groove opening the record, Soul Body with its R\&B sensuality... The hip-hop touch came courtesy of Lee Rick’s, the MC from Mellowman, who laid down rhymes on Hall Blues. The brass section was on fire, the bass went wild, and Sital added a sensual spark to the whole thing.
In short, a solid album produced by Fred Versailles (producer of NTM’s first album) and mixed by Paul Borg (Urban Species, UFO, -M-, Mory Kanté), a testament to a time when big funky bands made Paris groove—with Dis Bonjour À La Dame leading the charge. Nearly thirty years later, it’s time to (re)discover DBALD.
Ladies & Gentlemen, good times are back again!

25th Anniversary Vinyl Reissue (May 2025)
A sonic time capsule wrapped in summer grooves
When Since Then first arrived in 2000, it felt like opening a window to somewhere sun-drenched and far away—a place where gentle Brazilian rhythms danced effortlessly with the pulse of deep house. Now, a quarter-century later, the album returns to vinyl for the first time, not as a relic, but as a timeless companion.
This reissue spins more than just music—it breathes new life into a moment when sound, place, and feeling merged into something unforgettable. Pooley was ahead of his time, weaving breezy South American textures into club-ready arrangements. Tracks like “900 Degrees” and “Balmes (A Better Life)” still shimmer with warmth and clarity, their melodies floating with an ease that refuses to age.
Tracklist:
A1 Since Then
A2 Bay Of Plenty
A3 Venasque
B1 Coração Tambor
B2 Balmes
C1 Visions
C2 Spicy Snapper
D1 900 Degrees

With Retropolitan, Skyzoo's most recent collaborative project with Pete Rock, he got to live out a dream, as two genera-tions of legendary native New Yorkers aligned to create an album that was both a love letter and a wakeup call to the city they love.
Now, with The Bluest Note, Skyzoo is checking another box on his bucket list. "Since my debut album, I've never re-leased a project that didn't include a moment of jazz influence; with some sort of live instrumentation, something that connected my lyricism with the truest definition of musical lyricism; jazz" Skyzoo commented. "As much as I've incor-porated my favorite genre of music with my other favorite genre of music, this is the first time I've been able to craft an entire project based on jazz production from top to bottom" Skyzoo quipped. "The Bluest Note is a testament to some-thing I'd been longing to do for as far back as I can remember."
In 2017, Sky was touring in Italy and while there attended a show from a local nu-jazz
band, Dumbo Station, and was immediately impressed. Shortly thereafter, those seeds blossomed into conversations and in June 2019 Skyzoo was in Rome writing, composing and recording music with the talented musicians.
"Collaborating with Italy's renowned jazz band Dumbo Station was an absolute honor.
From writing musical arrangements with them and having them bring them to life in the studio in Rome, Italy; it was a perfect union and execution of what I foresaw when I began to sketch out the project. Six songs, as an homage to the classic jazz albums of the genre's heyday (when LPs were around six tracks total). The Bluest Note is the storytelling and inner-city expressions you've come to know and love from me, attached to the jazz orchestration I'm dying to in-troduce to some and re-introduce to others. Ladies and gentlemen, this is, The Bluest Note..."

OVERVIEW:
It’s been over 20 years since Kenny Dixon Jr., better known as Moodymann, released Black Mahogani—an album rich in atmosphere and emotion, offering a quintessential journey through deep house, soul, and jazz. Timeless yet modern, it’s an immersive and emotionally resonant experience that reflects the singular character of Detroit’s deep musical heritage. Originally released in 2004, Black Mahogani is arguably one of Moodymann’s most revered and sought-after works. It completes the puzzle laid out by his rare and elusive KDJ 12” releases from the mid to late '90s. With the help of Detroit legends like the late Amp Fiddler, Roberta Sweed, and Norma Jean Bell, Dixon infused his analog soundscapes and samples with a new organic warmth—expanding the deep house genre while simultaneously paying homage to 1970s soul and cinematic soundtracks. Dixon’s masterful control of tension—knowing exactly when to hold back and when to let go—makes Black Mahogani an enduring masterpiece. It's not just a landmark in electronic music, but a definitive statement in 21st-century Black American music.

Motel d'amour - A Lost Electro-Funk Gem from the NDW Era Resurfaces
When we first collaborated with Collage member Markus Kammann on the EP project "Mit den Puppen tanzen" at the end of last year, we never imagined what would follow: Kammann approached us with a completely unreleased full-length album by his former band. Upon receiving the first three preview tracks, we were floored. One of them was "Nachtcafé" - a track that kicks off with a funky bassline layered over the punchy rhythm of a Roland TR-808. Add shimmering synths and Katrin A. Kunze's sharp, distinctive vocals, and we instantly knew we were hearing something special.
For a label dedicated to rediscovering lost treasures, this was exactly what we'd been searching for. The next two tracks - "Rendezvous" and "Casanova" - were just as compelling. When Kammann sent us the full album, we realized we were holding an electro-funk grail from the late golden days of the German Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW). We were listening to "Motel d'amour".
"Motel d'amour" is a concept album, offering a sharp, vibrant perspective from a confident, intelligent, and radiant young woman eager to experience nightlife, love, and music. Kunze's lyrics paint vivid scenes of flirtation ("Nachtcafé", "Rendezvous"), encounters with men ("Casanova"), the pulse of nightlife ("Die Nacht ist noch jung"), love ("Rotes Licht für rote Liebe"), one-night stands ("Motel d'amour"), and more. Rarely has a German album from that era captured emotional nuance and social dynamics so insightfully. Without veering into the overly personal, Kunze's direct, daring lyrical style was groundbreaking at the time - and remains refreshingly bold today.
While German listeners will fully appreciate the lyrical depth, the music speaks volumes on its own. Kunze's words are masterfully complemented by the production of Markus Kammann and Jürgen Grah. As heard on the in-demand "Mit den Puppen tanzen", their creativity seemed boundless. Each track is tightly composed, catchy, and full of character. While many German bands at the time leaned into rock, Kammann drew from the deep grooves of Earth, Wind & Fire, The Isley Brothers, Brothers Johnson, The Commodores, and the electro-futurism of Afrika Bambaataa's "Planet Rock" and "Looking for the Perfect Beat". The result: tracks with unmistakable electro-funk flair, powered by the classic 808 drum sound.
Though primarily rooted in funk and electro, the album retains flashes of NDW aesthetics - "Wir haben getanzt heut' Nacht" being a prime example. The instrumentation is a dream list for vintage gear lovers: Yamaha keyboards, Roland Juno-60, vocoder, Micromoog, Hohner D6 Clavinet, Fender bass, and a Telecaster guitar all feature prominently.
Recorded in 1985 at the high-profile Delta Studio by Richard Rossbach, the album attracted interest from Polydor. However, the label proposed using the compositions for a solo project with singer Inga Humpe (of Neonbabies), who was already signed to their roster. This would have required replacing Kunze as the vocalist, an idea the group firmly rejected. As a result, "Motel d'amour" was shelved, and Kammann, Grah, and Kunze moved on to form Cold End.
The album cover features a rare archival photo of Katrin A. Kunze - rediscovered by Kammann and now finally seeing the light of day, 40 years later.
We believe Motel d'amour deserves recognition alongside cult German classics like P!OFF?, 1. Futurologischer Congress' "Wer spricht?", Ami Marie's "Verrückt nach Glück", the funkier cuts of Cosa Rosa, or Piet Klocke's groove classic "Heute ist nicht sonst". It's a record that fits into adventurous DJ sets but also rewards a full, start-to-finish listen.
A note on audio quality: Sadly, the original master tapes were lost. The tracks were restored from a vintage TDK cassette. Thanks to modern digital tools, we were able to remaster them to a high standard - but in some songs light distortions remain. We appreciate your understanding and hope you enjoy this lost and undiscovered gem.
- Completely unissued NDW Electro-Funk LP
- Fully Licenced, recorded in 1985

Cody Currie & Kapote together in the studio! Delivering a 4 track EP that connect proto-disco, neo soul, Chicago house beats and jazz funk in a very spontaneous, super catchy way.
Cody, the London multi-talent musician and Kapote, the Berlin based creative head of Toy Tonics have a lot in common. Both come from studying jazz, knowing different instruments, having played in bands and at the same time being DJs with a huge passion and the skill to rock thousands of people every weekend at the Toy Tonics Jams with a wild mix of different music. They have what we call THE VIBE. Soulful, catchy, intense. When they play records at a party and when they work on tracks. Both play keyboards, bass, guitar and drums. Both sing. And both have funny nicknames that journalists gave them: Cody Currie was called "the Tom Misch of House music" and Kapote the "Wes Anderson of electronic music". Makes us laugh, but also fits well. And yes: Both are a bit crazy... like every extremely talented musician.

Founded by Karigan and Organiks (The Roots Makers), The Earliers consists of 5 musicians and two singers. Sebah's voice will not go unnoticed, since he is part of a family of singers for whom soul is no longer a secret: a real pleasure for the ears! He has been singing for more than ten years in the emblematic French ska/reggae group "100Gr de Têtes". Musician from father to son also, Congo Lion is bringing a very rich background from his Congolese origins and a very tribal universe in his musical style. A perfect blend between the soul and early reggae period which makes the show of "The Earliers" a true tribute to the roots of reggae.
