This EP kicks off a run of four releases from different artists to mark the 200th outing of Will Saul's influential Aus Music. It is an era-defining label that has platformed some of the scene's brightest stars way before they broke out. Since launching in 2006, the label has remained dedicated to releasing club-ready music with a cultured edge from deep and melodic house to the earliest bass-driven post-dubstep fusions.

Opener 'Tropics' is a fully live disco workout created by some of New York's best session musicians. Marcel Dettmann's 'My Own Shadow' is the latest chapter in the Berlin-based legend's illustrious career. The live project is, in his own words, "a space where all of my artistic expressions meet," blending techno with film, sketches and photography. The shows are less club sets and more immersive experiences, where the audience gets lost in a "full sensory narrative." "My solo work has always been open, evolving across records and remixes," Dettmann added.

My Own Shadow's first official release, Approaching, is a five-track EP landing on !K7 Records in November. Complemented by his own photography on the artwork, the music spans techno and ambient, fizzing with a madcap funk and energy quite unlike any of his previous productions.

We are back with another chapter in our ongoing series of unearthing smooth vibes from all over the world, this time we go back to the FUTURE for you with:
THE SUNSET MANIFESTO Volume 2.
After a five year break mainly concentrating on the late 70s/early 80s Westcoast Soul/Yacht/AOR sound, we finally dive deep into the modern world of our beloved sister-label Too Slow To Disco NEO (for the third time after 2018s TSTD NEO - En France and 2020s The Sunset Manifesto excursions).
But of course it wasn't a real 5 year break since the first Sunset Manifesto compilation, as in the meantime we also released a few digital TSTD Neo singles, and - more importantly - our "Too Slow To Disco NEO - FM" playlist on spotify (handcurated by Dj Supermarkt every week and now hosting more than 1500 tracks of mellow, modern sunshine vibes) was growing steadily and becoming a new, important fixpoint in the TSTD musical universe.
TSTD NEO is the outlet Dj Supermarkt is using to unearth modern laidback, smooth, sunny slow disco vibes with a soulful Westcoast/Balearic touch. For him TSTD always has been about a laidback vibe/feeling, not a certain time period in musical history.
And that sunny Westcoast vibe we dug out on those traditional TSTD compilations has become a huge influence to so many modern artists.
So it makes sense that we present the cream of new slo/mo Nu-Disco/Sunset Disco/Daytime Disco acts in the TSTD format, a luxurious compilation, with artists from all across the globe: Not only from the two homelands of that modern slow disco sound, Los Angeles/California and France, but also from Beijing, Montreal, Mexico, London, New York, Stockholm, Rotterdam… the moon, you name it! This is Chris Clark's tenth studio album released in May 2023, the electronic artist choosing to marry his signature volatile pin-sharp production to the introduction of his own emotive vocals. Challenging himself to fantasise what a record might sound like "if the Beach Boys took MDMA and made a rave record" Clark looked to Thom Yorke to assist in an executive production role, an ideal companion considering Yorke's most recent flights to the world of immersive electronica.

There's also plenty of occasions where the compositions lean towards cinematic soundscapes particularly on the unnerving distortion of 'Forest'. However unlike on his 'Growl Garden' EP where vocals were used in a more chilling and dystopian role, those on the likes of 'Dolgoch Tape' are far more reverential and tender, closer to the spellbound serenity found on a Sufjan Stevens LP. Vocals funnelled into textures rather than dominant leads.

Highlighting the album's contrasts and bonds between human and machine The Guardian described it as "wandering free from structure, deploying sunbursts of synths and metallic percussion, nailing melodies into your primitive brain."

The album received excellent radio support in the UK at BBC R6 with A listing for the tracks 'Town Crank' & 'Clutch Pearlers'; in the US there were plays from KEXP & KCRW.
