ZON - PALACE Since more than ten years close friends and metal heads Phillip Tielsch (von Spar) and Mario Katz (Cologne Tape) met for guitar sessions, trying to " nd the essence of their favourite metal records* and digest in their own sound“. Quite ambitious but without any release plans so far... Magazines Jens-Uwe Beyer found out about their project and pushed them to produce an uncompromising condensate of their raw material. Beyer cut here and there, contributed some additional production and also got John Stanier (Battles) in the boat for the drums. So ZON became a band and "Palace" became the most intense and sharp edged instrumental metal set you probably heard in years! Crato's B-side counterpart, a 27min drone ambient interpretation of the ZON material, completes this literally thrilling album and makes it – wrapped up by John Harten's unique artwork series – another MAGAZINE release at its best.

Chris Stussy and Locklead’s collaborative project reveals a new 2x12", delivering a deep creative journey through nature and sound.

After two acclaimed releases on Up The Stuss, 'Sense Of Future' in 2023 and 'Synergy' in 2024, Across Boundaries, the collaborative project of Chris Stussy and Locklead, return with their most expansive and fully realised statement to date. Set for release in September, their 'Sakura' EP brings an eight-track, double vinyl package offering a deep dive into the duo’s evolving partnership, showcasing a sound that is as intricate and emotive as it is dancefloor-focused.

The making of the EP reflects an organic approach, with the pair taking to the Dutch wilderness for a series of weekend-long studio retreats, temporarily transforming remote natural spaces into creative sanctuaries. These escapes, surrounded by forests and wildlife, allowed the pair to step away from traditional studio environments and reconnect with the pure essence of their music. This intentional isolation sparked fresh ideas and textures, infusing the project with an expansive and reflective atmosphere — one that captures the contrast of raw nature and the precise electronic craftsmanship to capture crowds.

Musically, the eight-tracker moves fluidly between moods and rhythms, reflecting the layered creative process behind it. The title track 'Sakura' opens with a hypnotic groove that blooms into a textured soundscape, while 'The Funktion' rides tight, infectious and tunnelling energy. Deeper cuts like 'A Love Letter...' reveal a hazy, introspective side, contrasting with the elevating energy of 'Da Resurrection'. The EP’s range demonstrates Across Boundaries’ growing confidence in exploring diverse facets of house music, blending melody, groove, and atmosphere into a seamless journey.

This release not only marks their largest project under the Across Boundaries moniker, but also signals the maturation of a longtime musical and personal bond between its members.
