Germany's iconic deep funk collective digs into a new soundscape: "A Higher Frequency" was recorded with a nine-piece live to tape at legendary MPS studio in the Black Forest, adding an airy, jazzy flavour to their trademark raw and breaks-heavy funk. Ten tracks full of spiritual grooves, soulful themes, loose funkiness and organic interplay, captured with state-of-the-art 1960s gear in a super-vibey room - but the title A Higher Frequency is not just about the pristine analogue sound quality of the recording, it is also a reference to a trancendant wavelength where minds meet and music connects. Together with long-time friends and collaborators Daniel Kimaz on flute and Guillame Métenier, who worked his magic on the studio's historic Bösendörfer grand piano and Hammond organ, the group spent a week in the Black Forest, with full focus on the mission to capture the live energy and togetherness of the ensemble. The result is an album bursting with positive energy and power, rooted in a universal funk groove with excursions into many colourful branches like outernational, cinematic, soulful jazz, psychedelic & disco.

Back in 2013 we took ourselves on a discographic adventure without really knowing what we were doing! Who would have thought that 10 years later, we'd be releasing our 50th 45 RPM record? As luck would have it, we are happy to announce our new release, in collab with one of the flagship bands from today's funk scene, Germany's own "Mighty Mocambos", who have been delivering their instrumental groove and Caribbean vibes via their alter ego, "Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band" across Europe for more than fifteen years. So, what better way to immortalize the raw and intense live sound that they're famous for than releasing a record on our favourite format? Two sides recorded live on tape during the "Queen 16 B-Girl battle" in Berlin in 2022. Somewhat reminiscent of Can's "Vitamin C", the A side "International Cypher" has an oriental funk feel thanks to the use of the sharp sound of an electric Phin (Thai guitar), while thestraight up percussive funk instrumental "Queen 16 theme" pays tribute to the B-Girls onlyfestival, of which the soundtrackwas designed for the occasion.

While volume one of the series compiled Thomas' dopest library music cuts, this album dives deep into the soulful side of the Peter Thomas Sound Orchester, featuring the mystique house band of Afro-American Munich GI club Tabarin Bar, Donna Summer's first solo recordings, stunning cinematic funk instrumentals and a healthy amount of breaks and beats. Out of the 20 scorching tunes on this compilation, only three were released at the time of their recording and are nearly impossible to find on the 2ndhand market, ten have never been released anywhere before, others celebrate their first outing on vinyl or in stereo. Peter Thomas is widely acknowledged as Germany's most inventive film music composer of the 1960s and 1970s, best known for his iconic soundtracks. Today, his work is cherished not least for its incredible groove factor. The story of this compilation traces the origins of the Peter Thomas Sound Orchester's rhythm section and its soul music background, shines a light on unsung heroes like singer Joe Quick and unearthes nuggets that have been lying dormant on tape for decades. All music was carefully transferred from Peter Thomas' private master tapes and cut in full dynamics, housed in a beautiful fold-out cover with liner notes and private pictures. The compilation is released in cooperation with Peter Thomas' son Philip who represents the Peter Thomas Sound Orchester catalogue since his father's passing in 2020.

Peki Momés is a Turkish artist living in Germany - who only started to record music by accident in 2024. Blessed with style and intuition rather than formal education, her fresh and uncompromisingly authentic approach to music took hearts and ears by storm. Ever since her debut 45 on Mocambo Records, Peki Momés has become a little sensation in and outside the organic groove scene: turntablist DJ Koco played doubles of "Göc Mevsimi" in his set, Iggy Pop announced "Rüya" on his "Iggy Confidential" show on BBC and the second vinyl single surprised everyone with a mesmerizing cover of Marco Valle's much loved "Estrelar" in the turkish language. Both records sold out quickly and are in the bags of tastemakers like Coco Maria. Peki Momés' music is an eclectic mix of sounds from the global underground, tastefully crafted by producer Dustin Braun and a troupe of ridiculously talented jazz musicians. Dirty disco, fuzzy funk, anatolian rare grooves, experimental synth, library music and japanese city pop all blend naturally with her distinct vocals to create a unique ethereal outernational sound that is all her own. Once dubbed as 'turkish discodelic', Peki's songs have a dreamlike, enchanted and psychedelic quality and instantly take the listener on a journey. In a poetic way, she approaches topics like "dreams and a naive fear of losing or not fulfilling them" or expresses "worries about our weary world and call for solidarity from all" - always with an outlook of hope. You do not have to speak turkish to understand - the message is transported by a universal language. With her debut album, Peki Momés is now telling her full story. Displaying a young Peki on the cover, the artwork hints at the freshness and enthusiasm of the project. Featuring Eric Boss (Myron & E, The Pendletons, Lucid Paradise) and Def Stef (Mocambo, Bacao). It's the start of a sound that feels both familiar and fiercely fresh. It all started with a spontaneous trip to the cinema in London. Eric Boss and Def Stef caught the documentary Meet Me In The Bathroom, and walked out buzzing with inspiration—nostalgic for the disco-infused post-punk energy of the late '70s and early '80s. Fueled by their shared love for both eras of sound, they headed straight to Stef's studio in Shepherd's Bush and began crafting something new that echoed that raw, electric vibe. The result is SMACK—the duo's first release under their new collaboration, The Bush.

Right after their celebrated debut single, Sun Atlas recorded material for a potential full length - the 8 gems you find on this 10" EP. A dozen acetates were cut for DJs to test rough mixes in the wild, album concepts were made and then the pandemic changed plans. People relocated, the line-up evolved and the project was shelved in favour of new recordings that became their acclaimed debut album "Return To The Spirit". Unpolished and intuitive, these unreleased "acetate mixes" contain a magical spark. These 8 tunes are full of twangy guitars, otherworldly organs, lo-fi synths, big horns and dope drums, a wild mix of breakin' funk, cinematic soul, outernational jazz, surf and garage. Sun Atlas would later refine their style - here is the chance to experience them as a rough diamond.

Staying true to the spirit of the original, this version draws its energy from the bright stars, dreaming of meeting the stars up in the sky alongside the sun and moon. The production has been meticulously crafted, blending key elements of the original instrumentation with Peki Momés' distinct vocals in Turkish language. Bahar is a psychedelic disco groove about longing for sunny days — both literally and metaphorically. Uberrare and never released before material from 1968-1976, sourced from Peter Thomas' personal reel-to-reel tape archive. Limited edition of 500 pieces. From brassy big band funk, space jazz, krauty synth experiments to proto-hiphop, cosmic schlagers, heavy easy listening, soulful soundtrack moods and absurdly dreamy LSD ballads, this compilation encompasses the composer's most obscure and yet most transcendent work. Peter Thomas is widely acknowledged as Germany's most inventive film music composer of the 1960s and 1970, best known for his iconic soundtrack work. He scored over 600 films and episodes, from the crime blockbusters of Jerry Cotton and Edgar Wallace to indie arthouse films like Playgirl, Bruce Lee's The Big Boss and the extraterrestrial Space Patrol and Chariot of the Gods. dHis recordings for music libraries often provided an even more leftfield approach. Their visionary 'dope beats' appeal provoked a keen interest from vinyl aficionados, beatmakers and rare groove DJs alike. Unavailable for the public, the original "for professional usage only" albums are now sought-after collector's items that fetch astronomic prices on the 2ndhand market. This double 10" album is the definite selection of Thomas' best library cues from the Golden Ring Records, KPM and DeWolfe catalogues, many of them available publicly for the first time - plus four recently unearthed "lost" tracks from Warner Chappell's CPM Archive series that have never been released on vinyl before. All music was carefully transferred from Peter Thomas' private master tapes and cut in full dynamics, housed in a beautiful fold-out cover with liner notes and private pictures. The compilation was realised in cooperation with Peter Thomas' son Philip who takes care of the Peter Thomas Sound Orchester catalogue after his father's death in 2020.

Nothing truly predestined Frédéric Inthavisay, aka 2Fresh, for the musical career he has today. No musician parents, no academic training—his entry into music came through the collective. He picked up the guitar with his first punk band, formed during middle school, viewing it as a tool for political expression. It was the 1980s in Ivry-sur-Seine, a stronghold of social activism at the time.
This social commitment connected him with other Ivry-based artists like Merlot, who composed the track *Hallelujha* on this album. Ivry is a melting pot of cultures that offered suburban kids the richness of exchange—and what better way to learn sharing than through music?
This album is a musical family snapshot from the '80s–'90s, blending all styles (hip hop, reggae, funk…), all backgrounds, and all religions. A time that may feel far away today, but one we still enjoy listening to.
It all began in this southern suburb, where 2Fresh built his musical family—his friends, his “brothers and sisters,” as Sydney, the iconic host of the show *H.I.P. H.O.P.*, would say. Sydney lends his groove to the tracks *2Fresh Familly* and *Walkin’ in the Night*.
Malka Familly, KGB, and singer-bassist Guillaume Farley also crossed paths with 2Fresh and joined him on the tracks *Ta dose de Malka*, *Ghetto Youth*, and *La surface*.
2Fresh’s musical journey coincides with the birth of hip hop and the digital revolution of the '80s–'90s. Musicians were gradually replaced by early samplers, and DJ-producers began to rise. 2Fresh became a DJ alongside Dee Nasty, who features on the track *Ghetto Youth*, dedicated to the label created by his mentor Rud Lion.
With EJM, Abuz, Doc Shadow, and Little P, we get the chance to reconnect with pioneers of French hip hop on tracks like *94 Une couleur, un chiffre* and *Dans mon salon*.
