In Europe, he is best known for his project Kaito, which began in 2001 under the prestigious Kompakt label. It's been three years since KAITO's last proper release AND THAT WAS THE WAY (KOMPAKT 208), a long and meagre period of time for fans of the veteran producer. Having already prepared the eager crowd with primer 12" BEHIND MY LIFE (KOMPAKT 284), Kompakt now proudly presents a new full-length called UNTIL THE END OF TIME that sees Hiroshi Watanabe crafting a deeply personal narrative in line with his earlier works while carving out the timeless qualities of his trademark sound to interlock with today's floor gusto. KAITO's work always had a dreamy quality to it that set the producer apart from his contemporaries, but it certainly would be wrong to assume the new material to be a living room experience only. Since his very first Kompakt release BEAUTIFUL DAY (KOMPAKT 39) from 2001, Hiroshi Watanabe's tectonic trance antics featured a strong beat foundation that keeps those swirling soundscapes firmly floor-bound. The tracks from UNTIL THE END OF TIME are no different, starting with SKY IS THE LIMIT, an enticingly grooving trip to heady heights revealing a ethereal landscape. The doors of perception are further opened with the following I'M LEAVING HOME, WILL TO LIVE and RUN THROUGH THE ROAD IN THE FOG which establish a heartfelt coming-of-age story already by their titles. Private everday life has always been a major source of inspiration for Hiroshi who used to showcase pictures of his son on his record covers, thus creating a deeply personal timeline of human growth. This has changed, however, with the cover of the new album delving into the abstract imagery of meshing clouds, therefore reinforcing the universal, soul-dilating qualities of tracks like BEHIND MY LIFE, INNER SPACE or STAR OF SNOW. The album's closing chapter, an alluringly intimate triplet of pieces featuring DEAR FRIENDS, title track UNTIL THE END OF TIME and SMILE, goes for a more introspective mood by curbing the overall tempo to a meditative jog, wrapping the listener in cosy pads and twinkling fragments of an acoustic guitar. It is a perfectly befitting victory lap for a uniquely wholesome and profoundly life-affirming body of work that leaves you in a state of merry meditation. There's always asking for more, sure, but rarely has an album delivered on so many levels, providing an experience that is highly satisfying both spiritually and physically. KAITO might just have outdone himself this time around.

With his last proper release as KAITO dating back to 2010 ("And That Was The Way"), we're truly happy to announce the return of Hiroshi Watanabe, one of the most endearing producers in our folder. BEHIND MY LIFE sees the veteran dance artist subtly updating his sound to a rapidly changing club landscape while carefully carving out the timeless qualities of his earlier work. RUN THROUGH THE ROAD IN THE FOG gets things off the ground swiftly with a surprisingly stoic bass drum, but it's not long before we find ourselves wrapped in those dreamy pads again that Hiroshi has become known and loved for. It's a classic KAITO experience for sure, albeit a refined one: flowing percussion and breezy arpeggios broadcast an alluringly intimate mood that never quite settles for either introspection or jollity. In fact, it's a merry meditation unlike anything you'll hear this summer. The flipside is owned by title track BEHIND MY LIFE, a 112 bpm dungeon crawler fitted with stonewalling guitars and moanful synths. Notwithstanding, this should be considered a relatively upbeat, very japanese dungeon when compared to his nightmarish siblings from, well, every fantasy racket ever. Also, it's not really a dungeon, if you think about it... as the track opens up, the vista becomes grander and grander, leaving the listener standing on a cliff with feelings of infinitesimal magnitude. And there it was again, that typical KAITO moment, where things seem faraway, but oh so close.

Hiroshi Watanabe, a musician, photographer, and DJ from the Japanese electronic scene, based in Saitama near Tokyo, has been a prolific figure for twenty-five years. He has explored most major genres of electronic music through more than twenty albums. He proudly becomes the very first Japanese artist of InFiné.
After Ryuichi Sakamoto, he is one of the very few Japanese artists who have gained the favor of Western audiences, alongside notable names such as Cornelius, Towa Tei, DJ Krush, Ken Ishii, Susumu Yokota, and more recently Hiroshi Yoshimura. In Europe, he is best known for his project Kaito, which began in 2001 under the prestigious Kompakt label. The name Kaito, in addition to being the name of his son born the same year, carries a double meaning in Japanese, signifying both "universe" and "secret." These references hint at a spirituality visible in his photographic work and contribute to the elements that make Japanese artists masters of the ambient genre.
The collaboration between Kaito and the InFiné label began with his participation in the compilation "Music Activists 2020 (From Home)," which supported artists affected by the Covid crisis, followed by a remix for the single "Motion" by Rone and Vanessa Wagner in 2023. These initial contributions led to a new album featuring nine tracks of ambient music.
Kaito's new album ‘Collection’ comprises nine ambient and melodic tracks composed during the Covid-19 pandemic. These compositions present a majestic minimal and harmonious therapy in response to the world’s adversities, showcasing the producer’s return to the peak of his art. ‘Collection’ was remastered by another genre legend, the German Rashad Becker, and released on vinyl and CD by InFiné in 2024.

This album is just as colourful, with Neysa’s vocalwork sparking similarities to Kim Gordon’s off-kilter vocals, which they both ceremoniously jets through a post-electronica blender mixing stylized indie sleaze productions with 90s breakbeats.
While they might appear as a singular entity to others, UTO wrote large sections of this album apart, converging by the fireside to discuss the day’s work before coming together to hone and finish the songs. 2023 was, by their own admission, a difficult year, and that’s reflected in the Dantean themes expressed in songs such as the lead single ‘Zombie’, which arrived at the end of November as a taster for the new record; the latter’s dark heart is belied by the skittering beats, glitchy electronics and pummeling sequencers that elevate it from the void.

Anyone familiar with the UTO’s lauded 2022 debut Touch The Lock, which Pitchfork praised for its “prismatic synth pop”, will be aware of the variegated nature of what they do. This album is just as colourful, with Neysa’s vocalwork sparking similarities to Kim Gordon’s off-kilter vocals, which they both ceremoniously jets through a post-electronica blender mixing stylized indie sleaze productions with 90s breakbeats.
While they might appear as a singular entity to others, UTO wrote large sections of this album apart, converging by the fireside to discuss the day’s work before coming together to hone and finish the songs. 2023 was, by their own admission, a difficult year, and that’s reflected in the Dantean themes expressed in songs such as the lead single ‘Zombie’, which arrived at the end of November as a taster for the new record; the latter’s dark heart is belied by the skittering beats, glitchy electronics and pummeling sequencers that elevate it from the void.

"D'Argent & De Sang" is the latest creation from French producer Erwan Castex, known as Rone, famous for acclaimed albums such as "Room with a View" and "Tohu Bohu", who won a César for his first soundtrack for Frédéric Farrucci's film "La Nuit Venue" in 2021 and the award for best soundtrack at the Cannes Film Festival for Jacques Audiard's "Les Olympiades".
Initially entitled "Tikkoun", the next CANAL+ original series "D'Argent & De Sang" is produced by Curiosa Films and directed by multi-César winner Xavier Giannoli (with "Lost Ilusions in 2021), with whom the composer worked closely to develop a subtle blend of electronic and classical sounds, a field in which Rone's reputation is well established. "By mixing classical orchestral textures with modern electronic elements, I wanted to symbolise the heterogeneity of the worlds that intersect in this story".
The first part of the series, which features among many others Vincent Lindon will be broadcast in France on Canal + from 16 October 2023.

In 'Eno Piano', the piano, one of the first "synthesizers," becomes a new kind of fantastic resonating box — a supernatural synthesizer. The album is a compelling discovery, a rereading, reinterpretation, "re-production" of Brian Eno's music, from the hands of a visionary virtuoso. Sonically, the record is a combination of Bruce's piano playing, and piano sounds made using new electromagnetic "bows" that vibrate strings inside the piano creating drone notes.
The album represents a leap, into a new genre of post-ambient, post-piano piano music. Here, sound technology heightens artistic sensitivity, and the listener's presence in the moment. An instrument is reimagined, refashioned. The usual boundaries of time and sound loosen allowing the formation of a new 21st-century beauty.

In 'Eno Piano', the piano, one of the first "synthesizers," becomes a new kind of fantastic resonating box — a supernatural synthesizer. The album is a compelling discovery, a rereading, reinterpretation, "re-production" of Brian Eno's music, from the hands of a visionary virtuoso. Sonically, the record is a combination of Bruce's piano playing, and piano sounds made using new electromagnetic "bows" that vibrate strings inside the piano creating drone notes.
The album represents a leap, into a new genre of post-ambient, post-piano piano music. Here, sound technology heightens artistic sensitivity, and the listener's presence in the moment. An instrument is reimagined, refashioned. The usual boundaries of time and sound loosen allowing the formation of a new 21st-century beauty.

At long last, Q Lazzarus says hello to Dark Entries. Q Lazzarus is the moniker of Diane Luckey, born in New Jersey in 1960. While living in the East Village in New York City in the 1980s, Diane met songwriter Bill Garvey at a party and they recorded “Goodbye Horses” in his home studio. As the story goes, Luckey met Hollywood director Jonathan Demme when she picked him up in her taxi during a snowstorm in 1986. Demme was wowed by her demo tape, which was playing in the cab, and they ended up hanging out at a restaurant for hours talking about life and music. “He liked it so much, I gave him the tape I was listening to, he said he would call me for one of his movies, but I didn’t really take it seriously.” said Luckey. Demme would have the song “Goodbye Horses” first appear in his offbeat comedy Married to the Mob, and then again more memorably in Silence of the Lambs when Buffalo Bill changes into women’s clothing while drowning out his intended victim’s pleas with loud music. Despite the exposure, both Luckey and Garvey languished in relative obscurity. “Goodbye Horses” is the definition of a cult classic, an ethereal tearjerker driven by Garvey’s lush synth work and Luckey’s unmistakably powerful voice. Garvey says, “the song is about transcendence over those who see the world as only earthly and finite.”
Over 15 years of effort have gone into the making of this release. All five songs on this record were previously unreleased and are sourced from original master tapes. The extended version of “Goodbye Horses” was newly mixed from the original stems by Alberto Hernandez at Fantasy Studios. Instrumental and acapella versions of the song are included, which are also available for the first time. Side B opens with “Hellfire,” a brooding number about the New York BDSM nightclub of the same name, showcasing the range and force of Luckey’s voice. “Summertime” follows, with a sauntering synth-reggae spin on the 1937 George Gershwin number. Both B-side tracks are also new mixdowns and edits from the original stems. This record is released alongside Eva Aridjis Fuentes’s documentary on Q Lazzarus, Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus, a work chronicling the life of the enigmatic Luckey. It is an opportune moment to reflect on the underrecognized artists we have lost and the undeniable brilliance of both Diane Luckey and William Garvey.

disappoint, each fusing their signature sound with Sven‘s DNA to create a wild, uncompromising
companion piece to the original album.
True to form, the running order is very much rooted on the dance floor, Silvi‘s Dream, revisited by
Damiano von Erckert, explodes like a Balearic sunrise. Dreamy strings with a touch of Detroit create a
lovely atmosphere while the beautiful piano sound goes right into your heart and appears as if you
could feel the warm sun on your skin. Roman Flügel’s acidic rework of What I Used To Play is a
homage to the 80s and the early sound of electronic music which creates nostalgic feelings and offers
a greatly produced retro soundscape à la Kraftwerk. Staying close to the original, but with the perfect
amount of spin, it’s a symbiotic interplay of synthetic bass pads, and a tiny bell melody. Robag
Wruhme’s cranking minimal funk takes us down The Worm-hole. A concise interference sound builds
up sustained tension, tangled but structured, deep and yet driving. Robag took over the deep and dirty
rhythms of the original perfectly and delivers a versatile piece. This opening salvo oozes quality and
sets things up perfectly for the electrified celebration of hi-octane technology come.
Jonathan Kaspar‘s growling interpretation of We Are provides a melancholic atmosphere with
fascinating percussion parts. Zaps shoot through the air like small laser pistols while we let ourselves
be carried away by the bass, the frisky vocal stutter effect is the icing on the cake. Speeding things up,

True to form, the running order is very much rooted on the dance floor, Silvi‘s Dream, revisited by
Damiano von Erckert, explodes like a Balearic sunrise. Dreamy strings with a touch of Detroit create a
lovely atmosphere while the beautiful piano sound goes right into your heart and appears as if you
could feel the warm sun on your skin. Roman Flügel’s acidic rework of What I Used To Play is a
homage to the 80s and the early sound of electronic music which creates nostalgic feelings and offers
a greatly produced retro soundscape à la Kraftwerk. Staying close to the original, but with the perfect
amount of spin, it’s a symbiotic interplay of synthetic bass pads, and a tiny bell melody. Robag
Wruhme’s cranking minimal funk takes us down The Worm-hole. A concise interference sound builds
up sustained tension, tangled but structured, deep and yet driving. Robag took over the deep and dirty
rhythms of the original perfectly and delivers a versatile piece. This opening salvo oozes quality and
sets things up perfectly for the electrified celebration of hi-octane technology come.
Jonathan Kaspar‘s growling interpretation of We Are provides a melancholic atmosphere with
fascinating percussion parts. Zaps shoot through the air like small laser pistols while we let ourselves

Built around Manuel Göttsching’s astral classic E2-E4, Sueño Latino is, with no doubts, one of the most iconic records of the late 80's electronic music. Several remixes have followed the 1989 original release, but above all stands up Derrick May’s “Illusion First Mix” that adds his typical tribal motifs to the euphoric carpet of stars, tropical birds and cowbells. This reissue of Detroit genius’ version of Sueño Latino gives wings to our imagination making us fly on the most joyful nights of Ibiza.
