The now 20 year old Suffolk lad has turned worldwide House phenomenon in an incredibly short amount of time. His raw edged EP's for the RAMP Recordings sublabel Fourth Wave in 2011 were hard to categorise, and even harder to forget. 2012 has been even more rewarding for the young producer, with the peak time disco house throwback track '90?s Prostitution Racket' and the ridiculous 'Demolition Man' collaboration with Kevin McPhee cementing his reputation as a hit machine. Gerry followed this by releasing his rough and tumble 'Yeah Come Dance' EP with Techno institution Delsin, to similar global effect. More

Not only is this EP Gerry Read?s debut association with Delsin, but so too does it mark the launch of a new house-focussed series from the Dutch imprint. Mysterious and 19 year old Read had quite the year in 2011. On Ramp sub-label Fourth Wave he unleashed a trilogy of EPs which toyed with a rough and ready house and techno template, sampling anything and everything and chucking it all together into sketchy yet essential tracks which made you feel, think AND dance. This new four-tracker "Yeh Come Dance" feels like a natural continuation for the auspicious producer. The title track explores dusty and rusty loops of drums, vocals and wooden hits all of which are held together with a knackered jazzy glue. 'Crawlspace' on the other hand is a foggy gaggle of kicks, drums, hi-hats and cowbells coated in plenty of hiss and crackle. 'Bozza' again demonstrates Read's ability to produce something that sounds two decades old yet wholly contemporary at the same time. Chord prods here, raw hits there, jazzy motifs buried within ? it?s house music designed for cosy little basements in the dead of night where 'Crooked' is more in yer face. The loops in this one are more exposed and loud in the mix, but still feel unmistakably elliptical and raw... house music never sounded more fresh. More

His debut release on Shall Not Fade, Amor Fati EP is a perfectly curated four tracker of jazz with a modern twist, as shown on the opening track and first single "Lone Raver" and its bittersweet chords that blend with melancholy vocals and open out into a euphoric dancy beat. The anthemic trance overtones carry through to "Rah That's a Mad Question", which takes classic piano house vibes and more summertime heat with its Balaeric energy.

Following on from the special release of Robert Hood and Femi Kuti's live jazz set "Variations", Robert Hood delivers his latest Techno EP for M-Plant. This is the first new solo music from him since 2022's "Hectic / Amazon Dust" double-header.

Although Robert Hood should need little introduction, with his and his daughter, Lyric's Floorplan moniker riding high with a new album forthcoming on Classic, his Techno legacy should not be forgotten. Throughout the '90s, he helped pave the way for Techno to flourish - giving birth to minimal techno with his seminal album "Minimal Nation". Since then, he has been consistently forwarding electronic music culture with ground-breaking productions, sensational performances and his M-Plant label. His style is characterised by minimalist and experimental tones with an assertive groove.

His "Alpha Key EP" features four driving cuts of characteristically Hood music that prove when it comes to Techno, he's still a high-ranking master. The EP is out on vinyl and digitally 12 April.

When you’re thinking about the early days of disco music, you automatically think of the record that dominated the dance floors and dance charts: “Dancer” by Gino Soccio.

With this record the Canadian producer and synthesizer wizard became an indispensable part of the golden disco years.

Fast-rising Dutch DJ/producer BELLA becomes the first new artist signing to Sally C’s Big Saldo’s Chunkers imprint, with the inspiring ‘Note to Self’ EP – her debut production.

Relationships are key for Sally C. Since the inception of Big Saldo’s Chunkers in 2020, she’s released three carefully chosen EPs, all from her own studio. When she met BELLA while playing a festival in Amsterdam during summer 2022, the click was instantaneous, with the pair going on to play an impromptu b2b that day. Vibing both musically and energetically, they kept in touch, with BELLA sending Sally her maiden productions ‘Note To Self’ and ‘Orchestra Spring’. Sally connected so deeply with the tracks that they’d form the backbone of her debut artist EP on Big Saldo’s Chunkers.

One listen to the final EP and it’s not hard to see why Sally wanted to emboss them as Chunkers. Three fresh originals taking in influence from ‘90s house, acid, electro and prog, all with a unique hard-to-pin-down energy that makes them hit with a special swing.

The title track – also the first production made for the EP - sees BELLA lay down a sonic blueprint – both for her own sound and the full body of work. “This set the vibe and guided me through the creative process. I was really trying to make something that felt my own, that was also unique and not something I’ve heard before,” she shares. ‘Note to Self’ is heavy on attitude and bounce, driven by banging old skool drums, a rapid-fire grime-style vocal and a duo of synth lines – one uplifting, the other mining a slick ‘80s sheen, and the results are memorable. An absolute tune that Sally’s delighted to add to the Chunker catalogue.

‘Orchestra Spring’ is the perky sequel, a wicked one-two punch of kaleidoscopic groovy house with lashings of attitude that loves to scribble outside the lines with lots of retro samples and trippy energy. ‘Odd Symphony’ completes the trio, a blazing late-night cut driven by a gurgling acid underbelly, gritty drums and warm chords, giving the EP a brilliant afterglow.

Olsvangèr – one of Sally’s favourite producers – steps up for remix duties of ‘Odd Symphony’, and delivers a dynamic re-rub that begins in upbeat house territory, before taking an interlude in perkier rave realms.

She has given me tremendous support and guidance over the last two years, always ready to chat or give me some advice.
