"This landmark compilation continues the unfoldment of diabolically obscure yet culturally and artistically essential recordings that have been hidden and precariously balanced on the precipice of obsolescence."
For German musicians the mid-70s to mid-80s were an extremely fertile and fruitful time. Though The Peace Chant series is focused mainly on amateur bands, private pressings, and long lost acetates, many of the artists included here nevertheless made their mark upon the German and world music scene and even played with many of the giants of the movement.
As the 60s were coming to a close, many German musicians began experimenting with fusing jazz, rock, pop, electronic, and world music with a harder, more aggressive sound. The resulting movement, originally called "kosmische music" or "cosmic music" would give way to the kaleidoscope of sounds now known as Krautrock.
Many labels and compilations, not to mention reissues have been focused on this moment and in many ways, today, there could be said to be a global revival in the art form by younger, modern bands. But this is where Tramp Records, always peeking behind the curtain, has decided to take "the road less traveled" as we trust them to do. This edition of the Peace Chant series explores the artists that, instead of going full steam ahead in the rock and world music direction, decided to play the role of 'spiritual advisor' to the movement and continue building a legacy of jazz and pop infusions to their more rock-oriented counterparts. Of course, there may not have been much commercial appeal of these recordings and many of them fell into obscurity. But it is thanks to the tireless efforts of Tramp Records that we are able to catch a glimpse of what undoubtedly the Giants of the genre at the time were already well aware of and likely being influenced by. As you will see, many of the artists in this compilation went on to become music teachers and mentors in their own right and surely influenced the course of music history in Germany. Now their stories are finally being told. And though the music is amazing on its own, it is truly astounding when cast in its historical context. This landmark compilation continues the unfoldment of diabolically obscure yet culturally and artistically essential recordings that have been hidden and precariously balanced on the precipice of obsolescence.
For the first time ever, Tramp Records is proud to present an "all German" artists version of the Peace Chant series, including liner notes printed in German exclusively with an English translation downloadable.

** INITIAL 400 LPs CONTAIN A BONUS 7" SINGLE **
MOVEMENTS Vol.12 – A bag full of rare rhythm & blues, mod-jazz, and mid 70s funk. Side A starts with rhythm & blues from the 1960s. Most of the tracks were pulled from hopelessly obscure 7" singles. The only names of which some of you might be familiar with are most likely Mat Mathews and Lu Elliott. However, both original 45 RPM singles are pretty hard to find these days, especially in playable condition. Side B is all about deepfunk this time. "Hipper Snapper " is a prime example of that genre. Some say its groove is reminiscent of Charles Wright's "Express Yourself. Agreed! The Villagers are responsible for the first 'aha' moment. Their (previously unreleased!) version of "Funky Broadway" would have certainly astounded even Dyke & The Blazers. Representing Germany on this volume: The Rippers, also called the "Offenburg Beatles"! Back in the USA, John Fogerty has probably never heard of this heavy school-funk cover of "Proud Mary". Drum breaks galore! Side C begins with another German contribution. Saxophonist Gus Brendel delivers a mod-jazz belter of the highest order as do The Hornets. Definitely sure-shots for any dance floors! High time for 'aha' moment #2. Many bands have tried their hands on a cover version of the Nat Adderley jazz classic, incl. vibraphone player Bret Breitinger! The perfect choice to finish this side is Downtown Trio's smooth and groovy cover of Gershwin's "Summertime ". Side D is reserved for proper 1970s funk. ONYX's "Break It Loose " has become a certified Rare Groove classic. Here you can enjoy it for the first time with the blessing of the band! Glenn Doughty and his Baltimore Colts Shake and Bake Band of the 70's is the first musical group consisting of former NFL All-Pro players that Tramp Records has partnered with in its history! Watch out, "Shake and Bake " will be re-released on a good old 45 RPM single, too! Those of you who have been enjoying the detective work of the people behind the label over the past 21 years know that the Movements series can be easily considered as the flagship compilation series on Tramp. So, after having listened to the entire selection of this brand new volume we sincerely hope that we will have achieved our aim to surprise, delight, and enlighten you once again! More

The Shake and Bake Band - Shake and Bake, Pt. 2
Tramp Records International proudly presents: The 1975 Baltimore Colts Glenn Doughty and his All-Pro Shake & Bake Band! In 1975 Glenn "Shake & Bake" Doughty Wide Receiver for the Baltimore Colts formed the Shake & Bake Band. Glenn Doughty and his Baltimore Colts Shake and Bake Band of the 70's is the first musical group consisting of former NFL All-Pro players that Tramp Records has partnered with in its history! Doughty is a Detroit 'Motown' native and All-American from the University of Michigan, that was recently crowned national champion and the winningest college football program in NCAA History. Doughty and his four world-class athletic teammates formed the heart of the band. The Shake & Bake Band in the mid 70s played live at Baltimore's hottest Clubs with teammates in attendance on Monday nights after Shakin' & Bakin' their opponents on Sunday at Memorial Stadium. Doughty's sports hero was Muhammad Ali. He originated the popular Shake & Bake athletic movement scoring touchdowns. He recited Shake & Bake poetry like Ali to make predictions after games on local and national TV to celebrate Colts victories. His lyrics in his music were used to fire up thousands of his Colts fans and his teammates. Many fans felt the group sounded like WAR the popular funk group from California. Members of the Shake & Bake Band were: Glenn "Dr. Shake" Doughty #7, All-Time Colts leading Wide Receiver, producer, lead singer, congas and lyrics, Ray "RC Cola" Chester, All-Pro Tight End, Super Bowl Champion, Bass, Baltimore, Maryland, David "DT" White, Wide Receiver Lead Guitar, producer, sound technician. Buffalo N.Y., Lloyd "The Bullet" Mumford, Defensive Back Harmonica, Miami Florida, Freddie "Bones" Scott, All-Pro Wide Receiver on percussion, Grady Arkansas, and Bruce "Turn it Loose" Barnett, Drummer and shoe salesman. Randallstown, Maryland. This group of talented stars lead the Colts to its first ever three consecutive Eastern Division Championships. Between 1975 and 1977 they also became the first group of pro athletes to create two records while playing football together for a NFL team. Their debut 7-inch single from 1976 was cut at 33 1/3 RPM due to the length of the songs. "Shake and Bake Pt.1" lasts for 4:30 minutes while Part 2 stretches out to an incredible 7:00 minutes!

MUSIC FOR A SUNDOWNER – Melodic AOR / Yacht Rock from GermanyTramp fans will already be familiar with the band "People", as they were featured on the latest edition of the "Praise Poems" series (Volume 9, TRLP/CD-9109). "Misty Mood" was not only the song we included on Praise Poems 9 but also the title of their debut album from 1981. However, it wasn't their first release on Vinyl. In 1969, two years after the group was founded, a 7-inch single EP with four folk songs was released, by then under the name "The People". With Woodstock and the changes in folk and rock music in the early 1970s, bandleader Bernd Heyder dissolved the band. A few years later he founded "People", whose sound was now based on artists such as Crosby, Stills and Nash and Neil Young. After many frenetically celebrated live performances, the desire to record a full length album arose at the end of the 1970s. In 1981 the time had come and "Misty Mood" was released on a small, local label called "Ohrwurm Records". Just one year later the band released their second album titled "Easy Going". Their third and final album, which exclusively contains songs with German lyrics, was released on CBS Records in 1983. CBS wanted to sign Bernd Heyder as a solo artist, but he politely declined. When the hoped-for success failed to materialize, CBS prematurely terminated the band's contract. In 1984, "People" disbanded. With the stunning LP release "Natures Melody", Tramp Records honors Aschaffenburg's "People" after almost 45 years. The reason why no one has really taken an interest in them so far may be because the original Vinyl records are anything but rare. For the 'people' behind Tramp Records, this is absolutely insignificant, it's simply the music what counts. And the songs are so extraordinary that we are proud to set up a special monument to the band with this album.

Sunbörn - Echoes
Debut album by Sunbörn (formerly The KutiMangoes!) On their first album as Sunbörn, the Danish 6-piece digs into what connects us as human beings: we are all born under the same sun and are connected by the same forces of nature. Meeting the world and connecting through music has been a vital mission for our band from day one, and again and again on our travels we have experienced how music can cross borders, build bridges and connect us with people from different backgrounds and cultures in shared experiences. In times when the world is tearing itself apart it is clear that music has the power to reach across divides and remind us of our common humanity. Sunbörn's self-titled ablum features collaborations with artists from all over the world: Caio Marcio (BR), Ida Nielsen/Bassida (DK), BIGYUKI (JP/US), DJ Opolopo (S), Clap! Clap! (I) & Moderator (G). Quality Gatefold-LP pressed on yellow vinyl!

Placid aka Paul Wise is the chief in command at ‘We’re Going Deep’ – an online community and record label, born out of a lifelong affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm and obsession for collecting records since 1988. On a mission to share and release new music via his We’re Going Deep imprint: you’ll find only the best in Acid, Electro, IDM, Techno and Deep House for the dance floor, front room or even just your headphones.
Bringing the sounds of a true pioneer of Electro and Techno fusion to the next WGD solo series edition, Carl Finlow is renown for seamlessly blending the rhythmic intricacies of Electro with the hypnotic allure of Techno: creating a unique sonic identity that resonates deep down to this day.
As a founding member of the iconic 20/20 Vision label, there is no doubting his pivotal role or pedigree in shaping the sounds of the Electronic music landscape, having released timeless music that has transcended genres over the past decades.
A master of the sonic journey that blends futuristic textures with a timeless essence, he sets out his stall with the creeping drawl of ‘Equi’ on A1, leading with heavyweight bass that’s set to cycle as metronomic snares pop to sci-fi synthesis that can’t help but make your body twitch. It is however the lush shimmer of ‘Aether’ A2 that really captures the heart and soul. A tour de force in emotive Electronics that arise from the depths of Atlantis to sweep you into a whole other moment of existential bliss. A superlatively crafted composition fuelled by the power of the DX-100, awash with melancolic strings and whispy melodies that are combined to perfection – ANTHEM alert!
Over on the reverse, the menacing rumble of ‘Affinity’ takes hold on B1 as Finlow exercises a certain prowess balancing airy textures with the visceral, creeping to the finish line with nothing but gold on his mind. Lastly, the 80s spectrum tinged tones of ‘Septagon’ B2 lead us on to another level as you’re lured in by downright gnarly bottom end, as glassy arps and atmospheric touches complete his vision. More

A.B.T. - Luv 2 Luv U (Honey Dijon & Luke Solomon Edit)
Nu Groove spotlights the artists that made the legendary NYC label a firm favourite of crate diggers then and now with this 12” release of their vital tracks revisited by leading selectors of today. The label, born in 1988 by Frank and Karen Mendez as an outlet for the experimental works of the Burrell Brothers, quickly became a home for up-and-coming genre pioneers. In this fashion, ‘Nu Groove Edits, Vol. 4’ opens with ‘Tonight’s The Night’ by NYC favourites How & Little, AKA The Sound Vandals, re-edited by Italian duo NiCe7. More monikers of Rheji Burrell appear in the collection too, with N.Y. House’n Authority’s seminal classic ‘APT. 2A’ reworked by UK deep tech aficionado Hugo Massien, and The Utopia Project’s ‘File #3’ remixed by Leeds underground duo Mak & Pasteman. Closing out this collection of future classics, GRAMMY award winning production duo Honey Dijon & Luke Solomon return to edit ‘Luv 2 Luv U’ by A.B.T.

Philip Bodden - Castro's Calypso (Bonus Beat)
Produced by George Nowak, a German musician who ended up in the Cayman Island in 1971, aka the Barefoot man. “What a heat” is a dreamy slow paced disco cruise (with obvious reggae influences) highly suggestive of the beautiful nuances that might be part of West Caribbean island life. With the opportunity of more playtime allowed on the 12” format, an attempt at further prolonging this dreamy feeling is made with an extended edit. On the B-side, a Calypso bonus beats style edit by Castro takes a few bars of the original B-side “Phyllip's Calypso” and turns it into a tripped out dubby dacefloor DJ tool. Original artwork with commercial advertisements on the backside. Faithfully restored and remastered for your listening pleasure.

Repress!
A classic downtempo disco track amongst diggers world wide. "Stardance" is a dreamy cosmic delicacy to the ear, originally produced in '78-'79 by Alan Hawkshaw, it features a library style jingle melody one might imagine hearing at the end of a B-movie star trek knockoff series, but the simplicity of the arrangement is beautiful and effortless, clearly the work of someone highly trained and experienced in music theory, Alan Hawkshaw's work has transposed to numerous sample based projects from Sugarhill Gang to Wiz Khalifa, a maestro by all means, whose work will be immortalized in appreciation for as long as humans can hear. This debut EP from the MISSYOU sub-label comes with “Stardance” and “Do You Hear Me” along with an respectfully extended edit of “Stardance” by Castro. Remastered and now on 12” format at 45rpm. More

Theo Kottis embarks on his Space Dust odyssey with a 3 track EP that provides perfect peak-time dancefloor moments. This debut collection of tracks for the label draws on 90s prog house & features 303 acid toplines. 'Solar' & 'Dreamscape' deliver euphoric breakdowns surrounded by stabbing synths, while 'Cosmic Drift' is a slower burn, building through its chuggy baseline. With Theo onboard, we look forward to exploring more of this musical direction through future releases on Space Dust.

Release Info:
Reunion time again. Running Back regular Redshape returns with Release Me. Four tracks and four deeper shades of Techno (or House?). It’s not a secret that the music of the man with the red mask is heavily influenced, inspired and informed by the blueprints and the symbolic language from the twin cities Detroit and Chicago.
The A-side is in debt of the latter. Delivered in two mixes, Release Me builds bridges between the frenzy side of acid house (Base Mix) and the more contemplative and restrained part of it (Windy Mix) – or where Saber meets State Street Records - haunting vocal phrases on top. Forward to Bonuz Me (the name gives it away) as a reminder of his popularity with the DJ guild and a piece of slam-dance. Finally, Second Ten bows to the Mo-Town and its techno soul with precise engineering from Redshape– strings and things included. Arts and craft!

"Strut Records were there first, well before DFA recorded The Rapture's Sub Pop debut. 'Disco Not Disco' preceded the punk funk revolution by two years." Resident Advisor Strut present a new repress of the influential first volume of 'Disco Not Disco' compiled by Joey Negro and Sean P as part of the label's 20th Anniversary. 'Disco Not Disco' was a perfectly timed compilation back in 2000. Released when interest in the myths, history and playlists of original New York clubs like Paradise Garage and The Loft was at its peak, the album drew on the outer limits of leftfield disco championed by Levan and Mancuso, bringing together unlikely dancefloor anthems by rock acts like Yoko Ono and Ian Dury, obscurities from cottage labels like BC and Splash and selected oddities from the unique mind of avant-garde hero, Arthur Russell. It was essentially a celebration of the sonic melting pot in New York during the early '80s, an era when punk had burnt itself out and disco had become commercial and saccharine; in its place, the post-punk movement threw up brilliant oddities which tore up the accepted rulebook. Since its release, the compilation title has become a by-word for a whole genre of music and remains a landmark collection of its time. With original copies now changing hands for €100+, this new pressing is a welcome return for an essential celebration of disco's difficult cousins. The album features full original artwork and Kris Needs' sleeve notes and is remastered and cut by The Carvery.
