Trauma Collective go out all guns blazing with a fierce offering by ascendant Italian producer Sciahriar Tavakoli aka Sciahri (Sublunar Records/Unknot). The Trauma EP is at once an obviously loyal tribute to the imprint platforming him, while being a visceral soundtrack to the gradual setting in of early morning lights. Wasting no time in exercising his sonic assault, opening cut "Hypnotism" will affect you much like its name suggests on this punishing, splintered- beat body basher, before pummelling you into submission on the strobed-out warehouse techno epic "Plastic Rain". Zaratustra is a young French producer strongly inspired by indie dance, italo disco, EBM, new beat, acid and ethnic music. His style matured over the course of this year & we actually received this extraordinary "uprising" demo. This track symbolizes the perfect mix of rock, italo and EBM, for the older ones we will notice the incredible similarity in the voice with Ian Astbury singer of The Cult. A bit as if this fabulous group would have teleported to 2022 accompanied by a very modern production. It is once again STOLT who strikes the blow with one of his finest vocal performances. We called again on the brilliant Lauer for a rereading halfway between Suicide, Alan Vega & The cramps. This record is more than a statement, it's a miracle.

Tony Boninsegna: Notes From The Underground 1986-1994 (Volumes 1 and 2) Cold Blow / Musique Pour La Danse

The story of dance music is littered with hidden heroes and underground activists whose immense contributions have been overlooked, ignored and under-documented. Tony Boninsegna, a producer who made and released countless classic cuts and forgotten gems during the acid house and rave era, is one such example.

Melding elements of all that was popular in underground clubs at the time to create his own dancefloor-friendly sound worlds, Boninsegna amassed a huge catalogue between 1986 and '94, while hiding his involvement via an array of oddball aliases and opaque pseudonyms. Boninsegna's story first came to light four years ago when he appeared in Join The Future: Bleep Techno and the Birth of British Bass Music, Matt Anniss's critically acclaimed alternative history of UK dance music in the rave era. Now Cold Blow has joined forces with Musique Pour La Danse to deliver a much-needed anthology of his greatest productions and
co-productions - many rare or hard-to-find - for the first time.
Featuring 24 restored and remastered tracks stretched across two volumes on vinyl and digital, including a handful of previously unreleased tracks and mixes, and accompanied by detailed sleeve notes by Anniss, Notes From The Underground 1986-1994 is a joyful celebration of one of British dance music's most under-appreciated artists. Fittingly, volume one features two previously unreleased recordings that mark his earliest explorations of the emerging house sound (both as The Rhythm Squad, with Richard Compton), alongside touchstone releases such as Zeco's 'The Witch Trials' (a 1989 production that marked his first outing on vinyl), celebrated workouts recorded with regular collaborator Mykey Tee (Lab Technicians' bleep-inspired 'We Gave U Life', Big Showdown's epic 'They're Here' and AEK's mind-mangling, bleep & breaks number 'Lick It'), and genuinely overlooked gems (the proto-tribal house of Pierrepoint's acid-smothered 'Tonnerre' and saucer-eyed rush of Estudiantes' 'Let The Music Into Your Mind').

It all adds up to the definitive musical retrospective of a genuine underground, rave-era hero whose time in the spotlight may finally have arrived.

In November 2021, right before the second lockdown, Guillaume and Louis were invited by the nacht crew in Leuven to play their first dj-set together since the start of the pandemic.
At the time, the nacht crew had just received the first physical release on their brand new imprint, and the team was eager to get the record out into the world. For the second release, however, everything was possible. Before the show, somewhere between the obligatory nasal swab and the third drink, the idea of an unusual collaboration sprouted.

Since Louis recently moved to Athens and Guillaume lived in Lyon, the duo found less time and opportunities to work on their shared project. However, wouldn’t STELPLAATS be the ideal venue for a temporary studio in which the two of them could create music?
For all the frustration the new lockdown on clubs brought with it, one upside to it was that not that long after the birth of this idea, Louis and Guillaume found their way back to each-other and to Leuven. The duo found their workspace in the dark club that is STELPLAATS’ staple. For the occasion, the room was equipped with studio monitors, a sofa, and instruments lended by Leuven based musicians.

Leuven Works compiles five tracks that flowed out of the sessions in STELPLAATS and is a testament to the week that Louis and Guillaume had under the STELPLAATS roof. During their stay, the blood brothers got looked after with love by the nacht team, who provided homemade pizzas and a well-stocked fridge full of Duvels, allowing The Pilotwings to truly root into the Leuven soil and enrich the local landscape with their colourful presence.

This is the first stop on Sven Wunder’s musical journey. Wunder takes the listener somewhere around the easternmost part
of the Mediterranean Sea, around the Levantine Sea, where he paints a colourful portrait and illustrates the regions flora
through sound.
The fruitage is a vivid bouquet where Wunder fuses colours and pigments by using traditional and modern instruments
merged with arrangements and melodies that stretches from popular to folk music by portraying tulips, red roses, hibiscus,
hyacinths, chamomile, magnolia, daisies etcetera. With both fine and thick brushes are these flowers being pictured in a
both modern and classic idiom.
The outcome is prismatic. It stands between Anatolian rock and European jazz-funk with ponderous drum patterns, groovy
organs, far-out synthesizers, enchanting Saz and impetuous bass lines. Eastern Flowers sweeps through time and space
and points towards the future. It could appeal both psych and prog listeners, folk or jazz aficionados and as well the gourmet
hip hop connoisseurs.
