Four tracks of jacking outsider electro have escaped Lok44's petri dish and make up '44problems', the artist's fourth EP for TRUST. Known for his inventive style ever since his sought-after 2003 debut 'Ghetto Of The Mind', Lok44 continues to defy conventions - from infectiously twitching opener 'Spandex', across acid-tinged electric funk bangers 'Volta' and 'Dexta', to the contemplative bass manoeuvres of 'She's In'

Atom™ & Tobias bookend their Pomelo trilogy in style with "Enne", final instalment of their three-part series that started with "Cuando" and "Zahlenraum" last year. The EPs three tracks span the breadth and depth of Atom™ & Tobias's hardware techno sessions. From the slow-burning and punishingly addictive title track, to the jacking, rattling TR-909 grooves of 'NHMS', and the sprawling widescreen dubs of "Aux II", "Enne" simultaneously celebrates the delicacy, immediacy, and unmitigated power of twirling synth lines, grumbling bass spirals, and pounding techno rhythms.

“Eat My Pussy” is the delightfully nasty debut solo release from Latvian artist Anet K., coming out on Pomelo November 24th. The title track, featuring Anet’s vocals and production, functions as both a demand and endearing request, fusing her encyclopaedic knowledge of electro with a cunning lyrical twist. With such a explicit title, it should come as no surprise that the inspiration for “Eat My Pussy” comes from firsthand experience. Anet K. is no stranger to the scene – as a long-term resident of Berlin she’s contributed vocals to several recent releases, including Barker’s “Like An Animal” on Leisure System. For the remixes, DJ Stingray presents the vocals as an even more aggressive command, while the legendary Egyptian Lover raps some addictive verses and completely revamps the arrangement, presenting his personal ode to cunnilingus in an earworm chorus. On the dance floor or between the sheets: you won’t forget “Eat My Pussy” anytime soon.

Pomelo’s newest outing is delivered by the NYC based producer extraordinaire Brendon Moeller, a real master in the field of techno and dub, also well known for his productions under the monikers ‘Beat Pharmacy’ and ‘Echologist’. Despite his 10 albums and over 50 singles released for some of the best labels out there, it is three of Brendon’s strongest tracks to date that have made it on his ‘Reconcile’ EP. The EP’s title track promises a subtle fusion of house and techno through a loosly swinging techno groove, and duly delivers with echoing chord cascades and spluttering sound effects. ‘Machiavellian impulse’ picks up the intensity with a more direct, pounding beat, to which stuttering, spacious stabs add an element of deepness and dub. ‘Loudness Sustain Decay’ finally has a whole side to itself, starting out as a lofty house mover, with a pulsing wild pitch synths slowly adding tension until the track’s wild finale.

Tin Man has been creating a stir on dance floors worldwide for many years with his unique vision of acid, techno and house. In recent times he has opened his production toolbox to a wider variety of styles, also focusing on songwriting, often adding vocals. The Underdog series, produced last winter in New York, emphasizes on deep killer techno – This new release – the Underdog EP Part 2 – features three floor shaking techno cuts in different shapes. On the A Side the aptly titled “Swarm” features an epic minimal acid tune building over 10 minutes driven by twirling soundscapes resembling a swarm of killerbees on attack. Flipping over there is “Hack”, which bows towards Soundhack with its dirty funked up sample chords and cut up groove. The EP finishes off with “Rocky”, a masterpiece in reduction – hypnotic and deep techno.

After spending 6 months in New York Tin Man returned with 2 records for Pomelo. The first of the pair, the “Underdog EP pt1.”, features two of Tin Man’s most party ready tracks to date. On the A Side Tin Man shows how to rock at peak time. ‘UR’ applies rave stabs over a Tin Man trade mark acid line, achieving maximum dancefloor pressure in an always evolving 13 minutes arrangement. The track title makes it easy to guess where Tin Man drew his inspiration from. ‘Stay Down’ on the flip side goes deeper, delivering a hypnotically grooving minimal house tune, featuring an elevating key line that, like an Escher staircase, perpetually moves up while returning to its starting point.

Pomelo introduces the Motor City?s superbly talented Kemetrix, aka Soulwerkz Detroit. Part of the Mahogani Music family and closely associated to Moodyman as well as Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray, Kemetrix blazes a unique path through soul, funk, ghettotech and sci-fi electro styles. ?Soulbrother #3? brings both KDJ?s deepness and Stingray?s futurism to the table, merging both sides of Detroit?s 20th century musical heritage, Motown and Metroplex, in singular fashion. Kemetrix?s influences range from Curtis Mayfield?s falsetto vocal style and social commentary, to George Clinton?s collage production style, and J Dilla?s raw and unquantized beat programming. Kemetrix?s music comes from the ghetto. It is raw, intense, and authentic, a unique expression of the struggle and hardships of Detroit inner city life ? true soul music for the 21st century.

Elektro Guzzi have been called a lot of things – from “Man-Machine” to “first ever real live techno band” – and most critics have added plenty of superlatives to their descriptions. It’s a hype you can safely believe: The energy and precision of their fabled live shows has to be experienced first hand in order to understand why Elektro Guzzi are regulars on the world’s clubs and festival circuit, having played Berghain and Fabric, SÛnar and Time Warp in 2011. It’s also a hype you can safely ignore: Listening to Elektro Guzzi’s music it becomes completely irrelevant that these tracks are created using guitars, drums and effect pedals. They stand tall for what they are: Spectacularly unique sounding and brilliantly flowing exercises in dark, organic techno.
From hypnotic ‘Fat Pony’ to ‘High Noon’s swirling pads and ‘Jangu’s steel-drum-led Jeff Mills allusions, the trio’s Pomelo debut is an EP that’s firmly made with the dance-floor as its inspiration and goal, refining their style while embracing new influences, such as the wobbly bass lines and bouncy UK-style grooves in ‘Asteroid’. Once again aided by the legendary mixing skills of Patrick Pulsinger at Vienna’s Feedback Studios, Bernhard Hammer, Jakob Schneidewind and Bernhard Breuer are clearly at the peak of their prowess and well on the way of making Elektro Guzzi the most radical dance band of the decade.

15 years have passed since Alex Cortex began to create his own vision of electronic music - timeless and beyond trends, without a buzz or hype, steadily winning the following of DJs and home-listeners, collectors and critics worldwide. His style can be described as unpredictable to a certain point, while maintaining high aesthetic standards; playful with quotes and references, always low-key and focused on psychedelic immersion into sound
that shifts the attention from the artist to the music. 'Kihon' is a very personal effort, as suggested by the self-portrait on the cover that puts ear, eye, and mouth -reception and production- into context. The carefully elaborated design of this gatefold double LP speaks as a whole and in true minimalist fashion about the passing of time, without ever declaring nostalgia to be a means for itself. This also reflects in the music. Alex Cortex evades large gestures and obvious quotes, but is certainly conscious of locating his album within a framework of references to other works of electronic music that are important for his own musical evolution. In 11 nameless tracks, 'Kihon' takes us on a journey through organic worlds of sound that invites us to flow with the music and connect with the feelings contained in it. The title 'Kihon' that relates to Japanese martial arts translates to 'basics' or 'fundamentals', the training of which does not even cease when reaching master grades. Those basics that are passed on beyond time are also the foundation of this album. By concentrating on the bare essentials, the music begins to speak, turning the album into a harmonic whole. 'Kihon' therefore is also a return to
listening, away from a utilitarian perception of music as a background sound. This does not mean it would not work perfectly well in a club context -in the right hands it indeed does- but more notably, 'Kihon' is a work of art worth your attention and destined to stand the test of time.

Tone Def are the original Bournemouth ravers with some absolute classics released in the early 90’s on Moving Shadow. Rog from the band is also the founder of Void Acoustics, the ultimate in club and festival audio equipment, a hobby that became a huge business empire for him.
This EP was written during 1990 to 1991 and had been lost for 30 years until recently, when Rog was checking some of his old ¼” tapes that he took out of storage. These are 4 original UK acid breakbeat rave tracks, encapsulating the raw DIY ethos of the era, of kids messing about in their bedrooms, writing music with no boundaries or templates. Never heard before, never released before… until now.
Acid Boom is a sister label to the Vinyl Fanatiks family. A vehicle to release that early 90’s acid sound that would later morph into rave. High energy 303’s, 808 and 909 drum machines, synced up to rolling breakbeats. Whether music from back in the day or new music that’s been created to emulate that early warehouse sound, Acid Boom is here to take you on a rush. More

Following his debut EP 'En clair-obscur' and a series of singles earlier this year cementing his place as a rising name in the world of cinematic soul & funk, Hamburg's finest cinematic soul artist 'The Offline' announces his debut album 'La couleur de la mer'.
Reminiscent of film scores from the 60s and 70s, The Offline worked with co-producer Tim Liztenberger to channel the influence of film composers such as Francois de Roubaix and Brian Bennet, creating his own soundtrack on 'La couleur de la mer'. Inducing images of manorial, fog-swept villas at the sea's edge, silhouetted sailing boats and cigar-chomping villains attempting to thwart the mission of an imaginary hero, the record is a masterfully composed sonic journey. Experimenting with themes and atypical song structures, the music moves from dramatic cues to fragile romanticism. It incorporates psychedelic spaciness, retro soul and hip-hop sensibilities informed by The Offline's extensive record collection and crate-digger status.
"Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by the soundtracks from the 60s and 70s, and I always wanted to make an album in the film score direction. I wrote about 30 demos, kicked half of it and stuck to the ones that felt right in the dramaturgical structure of the 'movie'. Interestingly the main theme was set early on while writing the album, which made the writing process much easier."
Aptly named, 'Thème de la couleur de la mer' opens proceedings, establishing the core motifs of the record. Haunting flutes and xylophones lead the way into Khruangbin-esque guitar lines, which sit against a hip-hop canvas that returns on boom-bap head boppers like 'Quelque chose reste'. Retro soul revival takes precedence on deep cuts like 'Un bout de chemin', with wah-gated guitars interacting with emotive cello lines and symphonic string & horn sections.
The Offline came to life when composer and photographer Felix Mu?ller travelled the Atlantic coastline in the south of France with his analogue camera, capturing beach life on film. After coming back to Hamburg, he started writing songs as the sonic counterpart to the analogue visuals. His Debut EP 'En Clair-Obscur' includes five tracks that capture the essence of his journey and the feeling of a cool summer soundtrack.

File under house, breakbeat, techno and warehouse rave music. The Mental Groove Classic series returns with a treasure trove of rare and hard to find tracks plucked from the personal collection of label founder Olivier Ducret, a pivotal figure in Switzerland's acid house and rave-era party scene.
On Volumes Two and Three of the series - the first installment hit stores in 2017 - the Mental Groove and Musique Pour La Danse label founder takes us back to the turn of the '90s, a time he spent promoting parties in fields, squats, forests, warehouses and former factories in and around Geneva and behind the counter of a record shopof the same name. While others in Switzerland's emerging dance music scene gravitated towards US house and garage, Olivier and his crew opted for a bass, breaks and techno-focused sound inspired by regular trips to clubs, raves and record shops in the UK.
Drawing directly from his own record box and a memory bank full of snapshots of euphoric dancefloor moments, Mental Groove Classics volumes Two and Three sees Olivier reaching for cuts of near-mythical rarity, genuinely overlooked gems, and undeniably brilliant tracks that have left a long-lasting impression on the local raving landscape. It's an autobiographical audio document, historical archive and personal musical statement all rolled into one, inspired by a moment in time where musical boundaries were being redrawn in a wave of carefree optimism and freedom inspired new rave scenes across Europe and far beyond. - Matt Anniss
Original artwork by Soho's Brain Club co-owner and artist of early British club culture Mark Wigan.

Release Note
Lars Huismann makes a quick return to SHDW & Obscure Shape's newly minted Mutual Rytm imprint as he delivers a medley of classic, groove-driven techno productions via his "Sounds From The Past I" EP.
With recent releases via labels such as Slam's iconic Soma, Berlin-based DJ and producer Lars Huismann is quickly growing to become a familiar name of note within today's modern techno landscape. Having featured as one of the artists on the label's debut V/A release in February, with the German set to feature as a regular across the imprint in coming months, he unveils fresh shades to his sound palette on his return to Mutual Rytm with a combination of six slick techno cuts across his "Sounds From The Past I" EP.
The powerful, rolling dynamics of "Surge" open proceedings as Huismann quickly sets his stall, while "Collison" veers into slick, looping territories as the energy and tension are kept tight and high. Next, "Echo" ups the pace as tough kicks meet zipping melodies, filtered chords and looping vocal interjections amongst a medley of flurrying percussion licks, before "Funk Shed" takes cues from its title and showcases a classy blend of classic Detroit-influenced sonics guided by sweeping synths. Title cut "Sounds From The Past I" brings with it flashes of serenity and peace, before erupting and spiralling effortlessly into infectious and captivating drum grooves, before closing the show via the rich yet muscular tones of final offering and digital bonus track "Jackin".
Lars Huismann "Sounds From The Past I" EP drops via Mutual Rytm in March 2022.

Olsvangèr - Quadi B
Huge, triumphant return for the man they know as Olsvangèr. This might be the most radiant, life-affirming manifestation of his devotion to trippy dancefloor propulsion.
If last year’s EP with fellow Tofistock co-founder MYKI was the pre-induction, ‘Icy Hookups’ signals his full initiation. Solo manoeuvres from the Berlin-based producer and starts as he means to go on with the buoyant flex and ‘90s nostalgia of opening cut ‘Grand Slammin’. Blissed-out vocals vocoded beyond recognition, this is pure dancefloor jubilation but not at the expense of directness or heft.
Clearly, he’s no stranger to a late-nite tech house incursion either. Where ‘Paranoweed’ comes thru with the tuff, full-bodied groove, ‘Bubble Toy’ recalls the oddball, mescaline-strength tribalism of his DJ Headshot alias. Then, just as uplifting as its predecessors, ‘Quadi B’ shuts things down with a heady, levitational dose of fractal fuel. More

2024 Repress!
Rhythm Section International proudly presents it’s 8th offering from local boys Chaos in the CBD. Born in New Zealand, but based in Peckham for the last few years (literally just around the corner from Henry Wu and Bradley Zero), these brothers have made a real mark on the scene here in London town and with their latest set of productions are set to take this message further afield.
Having already released internationally on labels such as ClekClekBoom (Paris), Hot Haus (London) and Amadeus (Montreal), the duo’s approach to production has matured immeasurably in the last year, as is evident in the restrained potency and poetic subtlety on the 4 tracks across this accomplished EP, Midnight in Peckham.
Taking it’s title from the locale the boys have come to know as home, the record channels a delicate late night energy - equally indebted to the hypnotic incantations of Ron Trent as it is to the hazy suburban atmospheres of Burial. These 4 classic cuts pay homage to deep house in it’s truest sense - at once sublime, melancholy and meditative . Chaos in the CBD have clearly taken their cue from the mid-west masters of the genre but have not been afraid to let their own influences and environ creep in, and in doing so have created something that is unmistakablely London and infact, timeless.

Saigon Supersound is delighted to present the 3rd and final volume of its pre-1975 Southern Vietnamese music collection. A curated collection of music from Saigon during the 1960s and early 1970s. The music has been restored and remastered in order to present listeners with audio quality on par with its original quality upon release more than half a century ago.
The first few songs in this Volume are songs Vietnamese people used to call “Stimulus Music” or “Action Music”. These are songs that borrow vibrant melodies, inspired by the west, performed by the best representatives of this genre. In addition, this volume includes songs, famous in clubs both past and present like “N?u Anh V? Bên Em” by Mai Huong and “Hình ?nh Ngu?i Em Không Ð?i” by Thanh Lan.
Many believe that "Southern Golden Music" is just popular music, simply because it "pleases the listener". Volume 3 include melodies most Vietnamese might have considered “unpopular”, but popular with “golden music” lovers. Today, people often call “gold music” bolero music, because this is the most popular style found in this golden era of music. In this volume, Saigon Supersound have selected typical bolero songs like,“Hàn M?c T?” sang by Trúc Mai, as well as, “N?ng Chi?u” by Lê Tr?ng Nguy?n.
In addition to the variety of melodies, Volume 3 also shows the diversity of genres found in old Southern music by introducing songs that praise the homeland such as “Tình Reo Trên Sóng Lúa Vàng” by Thanh Lan, praising peace in “Xin Cho Tôi Gi?c M?ng Bình Yên” by Thanh Tuy?n, witty music in “C?u C? Lên Thành” by Connie Kim.
Volume 3 closes with the song “Xuân Mu?n” (Late Spring), performed by Hoàng Oanh. The song talks about the end of a lunar year - a cycle of heaven and earth, the end of sad stories and opens up new hopes for more positive things to come.
Finally, the face of the movie star Ki?u Chinh is chosen to grace the cover image of Saigon Supersound 3rd Volume. Although she may not have had any direct relations related to music, more than 50 years ago, Ki?u Chinh's image appeared many times on the covers of various music sheets. The image of Ki?u Chinh was chosen for the mix of Eastern and Western cultures present in her life and career that mirrored the music of that era. These songs, with melodies originating from Europe, the Americas and Africa have been an integral part of Vietnamese music since the 1960s.
