British tour de force Rene Wise is an exciting talent synonymous with hair-raising and hard-nosed Techno. A name that's been confidently claiming its stake in common lexicon with a passion for polyrhythms, forward-looking frequencies and kaleidoscopic beats. It's the mind-expanding potential of his favourite genre that forms the basis of his new vinyl release on Bassiani Records. Drawing on personal experiences of the psychedelic sort, he also cites the role of atmosphere and spatial configuration in the making of his sound, in his own words: 'the space that the music is presented in, is hugely important and there are some very unique and special spaces in the world that capture the true essence of how techno music should be experienced. Bassiani is one of these places.' Well that praise goes both ways, it's hard to imagine a more fitting EP for the club. This four track release is both an homage to the Bassiani floor and a powerful dive into a trippy realm of Techno Wise has spent his years as a musician diligently exploring. MP02 is an immersive batch of mystical dance floor journeys which, in four steps, navigates the realms of gaseous sound design to more subaquatic dynamics, working with a palette of serpentine rhythms that pull us into his distinctive, subtly hypnotic world.
A1 Silo Cybin opens the release with the artists unmistakable kick drum pattern, the heartbeat of his sound. Theres a trippy, swampy energy here, enhanced by robotic vocals and broken claps that weave polyrhythms into the track. The minimalist core pulses with playful energy, while detailed textural elements softly emerge like a waves bubbling foam. Up next we have Complicated, which offers a more minimalist composition, yet injected with rich rhythmic structures. Brighton-based producer Rene Wise is next to land on Setaoc Mass' SK11_X offshoot, coming off the back of a batch of releases on Luke Slater's respected Mote Evolver imprint and a recent collaboration with Rodhad, with his own purist take on groovy yet hypnotic, minimal techno. Wise offers four variations of precision-drilled rolling club-tools, first with the static-charged, tribal calls of "Pleasure Note", to the bouncier, groove-laced "Swamp Dancer". On the flip side, "Hollow" focuses the intensity, whilst "Changa" completes the home-straight with its boundless energy and delirium inducing synth parts.

After his recent remix of Dustin Zahn’s ‘Submit Yourself,’ Rene Wise returns to Enemy Records with his own EP, “Jungle House.” All 5 tracks are perfectly in line with Wise’s signature grooves while delivering different moods suited for each part of the night.

Stockholm repper Patrik Eriksson is a proponent for deep and loopy techno, under his Dold moniker the DJ/producer delivers all manner of introverted compositions, moments designed for home and club that resonate with an evocative and redoubtable simplicity. His catalogue of releases on co-run label Arsenik are an ongoing dialogue with live partner Kuf and a selection of well-known peers, stripped down techno that conveys a cogent message with its straight talking approach.
The Revival Recordings (BAS 014) is another vinyl feather in Dold's cap, a five track release that takes the relay from his developing opus and sprints assuredly on. A1 Work Me pairs mercurial hi-hats with subaquatic squeaks, while its successor keeps tempo and switches its leitmotif for hollow, metallic repetitions. The temperature rises with Solid Solitude, the A3 banger that's likely to make its way into many a closing set towards the end of summer. The B side takes a darker turn with Insight (B1), a slower, more philosophical entry suggestive of breezy Scandinavian nights. B2 points its arrow in another direction still, more urban, more clubfloor, shuffling acid beats that tie the record and Dold's many-faceted influences together in a neat package. There's a bit of everything here, and a hint at both Dold's capacity as a producer and what might be yet to come. A promise of compelling techno from the north that's sure to put his star on the rise.

Tbilisi techno maven Newa packs a potent punch with her brand new Equilibirum EP (BAS013) out on Bassiani Records. Founder of the Shin imprint and a regular face on local decks, Newa's maverick ear is heavily qualified in the selection of other people's tunes, here she proves her talents don't stop there. This four track release kicks off with 'Dtrance Love', her personal spin on the 90s-imbued zeitgeist, whose throbbing basslines and gliding synths set a supernatural tone that plumbs the depths of mind. 'Electro 404' takes a tangential turn that offers squelching beats that lurch and menace, a darker order of solitary introspection. Her B-side opens with skittering rhythms and solid backing from an otherworldly melody that vibrates in and out of existence, while B2 is a second rendition of the last, delivered by none other than hydra-sonic Copenhagener Peachlyfe, dissected and turbo-charged.
The early, long and lonesome days of COVID lockdown provide the backdrop here, during which Newa was given ample room to explore her sound. From that chrysalis comes this latest release, the remnants of a moment of transition and global awakening, a techno record with a strongly contemplative bent. The pondering of an inner equilibrium you could say, and the tuning of a larger one without: human and nature in eternal symbiosis. Fervent and unyielding, this is weird and fearsome circuitry from one of Bassiani's most formidable residents, a thorough exploration of the world within.

Tbilisi techno maven Newa packs a potent punch with her brand new Equilibirum EP (BAS013) out on Bassiani Records. Founder of the Shin imprint and a regular face on local decks, Newa's maverick ear is heavily qualified in the selection of other people's tunes, here she proves her talents don't stop there. This four track release kicks off with 'Dtrance Love', her personal spin on the 90s-imbued zeitgeist, whose throbbing basslines and gliding synths set a supernatural tone that plumbs the depths of mind. 'Electro 404' takes a tangential turn that offers squelching beats that lurch and menace, a darker order of solitary introspection. Her B-side opens with skittering rhythms and solid backing from an otherworldly melody that vibrates in and out of existence, while B2 is a second rendition of the last, delivered by none other than hydra-sonic Copenhagener Peachlyfe, dissected and turbo-charged.
The early, long and lonesome days of COVID lockdown provide the backdrop here, during which Newa was given ample room to explore her sound. From that chrysalis comes this latest release, the remnants of a moment of transition and global awakening, a techno record with a strongly contemplative bent. The pondering of an inner equilibrium you could say, and the tuning of a larger one without: human and nature in eternal symbiosis. Fervent and unyielding, this is weird and fearsome circuitry from one of Bassiani's most formidable residents, a thorough exploration of the world within.

This feels deliciously fated. Musical soulmates, Cromby is the only person Sally C will go record shopping with. The duo minted their friendship back in 2016, not long after both migrated to Berlin. A friendship forged through shared dancefloors, long hours at the pair’s beloved Bikini Waxx and impromptu B2B sessions, they have a common passion for good times and serious digging. On 21st October the albums Music Has The Right To Children (originally released in 1998), Geogaddi (2002) and The Campfire Headphase (2006) will be reissued. These will be followed on 18th November by the mini-album Twoism (1995) and EPs In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country (2000) and Trans Canada Highway (2006). Also, look out for a vinyl reissue of Hi Scores EP (1996) through Skam later this year.
Each Warp reissue comes with a download code and an original BOC sticker design from the era.

Huey Mnemonic (Detroit) and D. Strange (Chicago) are not only interested in the future, but they offer a stark reminder of an ever desolate present.
Their split EP State of Emergency (via Mnemonic’s Subsonic Ebonics label) sonically structures a bleak narrative across 4 electro-laden tracks from the midwest-based producers.
The escapade begins with “Black Manta Corps”, Huey’s classically styled 808 programming accompanying modulated analog synth play up front, while a stirring crescendo of soundtrack-esque chords provides cover from the rear. “Red Alert” offers the juxtaposition of funk-tinged bounce to a searing siren lead. Midway we’re offered a brief moment of repose with Huey demonstrating a masterful computer-funk bridge before the sirens’ sobering tone returns.
D. Strange continues the journey lacing haunting synth interplay that steadily stacks the tension alongside stimulating melodies, chest-pounding bass, and scattered triplets on “Exoframe”. While “Drapetomania” closes things out with zipping percussion, a mutated bass line, and atmospheric droning pads panning like a shadow creeping closer and closer…
