Banoffee Pies Records continue their original series via a solo EP from Nikki Nair of Knoxville, Tennessee with "Number One Slugger". A white label 12" showcasing the diversity of Nikkis bass infused productions across a range of tempos, opening with the drum heavy DJ tool "Super" with jungle swing and a vocal hook to partner. The A2 sees the appearance of the "Slug" in a siren blaring bass rhythm strictly for dance floor usage pumped with electro distortions.

The B side introduces a more mellow mood following in similar ilk to his latest Morphism release on Gobstopper Records last year which initially caught our ear. The B1 sees "Salt" drop the tempo to 120bpm for a more intricately arranged array of swirling hi hats and toms and a flowing dub infused vox. The B2 flaunts an array of pulsating basslines and ASMR whispers with "Fidelity" in the more spooky insert of the bunch before the release comes to a close with "Stotch" on the B3. Fracture & Neptune reissue two classics from the Astrophonica catalog on a new 12”. Clissold and The Limit shine a spotlight on the early days of their musical journey in the mid 2000s.

While there are other tracks that could and may get reissued, the pivotal nature of these two and the ongoing demand for represses made them the perfect place to start. Reissuing them not only honours their impact on our careers and Astrophonica's evolution but provides the opportunity to have them remastered on vinyl by Beau Thomas at Ten Eight Seven and on digital by Bob Macciochi at Subvert Central Mastering for a modern take in 2024. Sully returns to Astrophonica for a celestial collaboration with young Manchester based vocalist Salo.

Always one step ahead of the pack, Sully relinquishes the signature crusty Jungle breaks in exchange for crisp and steely, live sounding drums to provide the groove for a stripped back and crushed 808 bassline - a hi-def take on his iconic sound. This minimalist structure gives the foundations and space for Salo’s bittersweet vocals to take the lead with clarity and float off into the glorious twilight. A celestial collaboration that spotlights both artists’ strong points.

Sully totally flips the script with the ‘Not Just a Dub Mix’ by taking Salo’s vocals and giving them the Tubby treatment. The Jungle breaks return and sirens ring out - one for the club Salo, born in Tbilisi, Georgia before moving to Manchester via Glasgow as a child, is a classically trained pianist with all the swagger and charm of Manchester club music. She studied at Glasgow Music Academy and Royal Northern College of Music before working with club legends such as Zed Bias, Chimpo and Bassboy.

0860 is a project by Charlie Fieber aka Fracture inspired by London Pirate Radio. The project includes an album, radio station and interview series that explores the history and legacy of Pirate Radio and its importance in the development of UK underground music.

0860 is presented via an 8-track, DJ-friendly 2 x 12" Vinyl Album, 19-track mixtape cassette and the radio station 0860.fm, which is broadcasting now. There is also a Pirate Radio Art Print from UTILE and T-Shirts. Broadcasting now on 0860.fm is an additional 90-min 'Signal Test' ambient album by Fracture.

Over the coming weeks, 0860.fm will broadcast interviews with Bryan Gee, Eastman, DJ Flight, Scratcha, Dextrous, Uncle Dugs, Mantra, Missing, Eddie Peake, Om Unit & Laurent Fintoni, Naina & Sherelle, Stamina MC and more. It will also broadcast lost recordings of original 90s & 00s London pirate station broadcasts from the likes of Kool, Rinse, Pulse and more.k about it.

Track two is ‘Where Are U’ and encourages us to ask ourselves that question through the exploration of full speed Breakbeat Electro. If we know where we are, we can begin to look into where we are going. Probably the dance floor.

Track three is ‘it's NP-Complicated’ which sets out an uncomplicated blend of bubbling bass and simple sympathetic drums, providing us with a network to feel more empowered and to build a sense of community.
