Waage is a firm favourite amongst dub techno fans. The Icelandic producer has long been turning out icy and atmospheric rollers for the heads and here he works alongside a fresh name, Quantal, who is sure to go on to big things. Here they land on Thule Records, a legendary label in its own right with roots going back to 1995. They kick off with the textured dub of 'WQ1' which has glitchy sounds paying over the rolling drums. 'WQ2' is much more smooth and streamlined, with an underwater current that sweeps you off your feet, then 'WQ3' leans into the wind with hypnotic techno drums and vamping chords that melt the mind. Last of all comes 'WQ4', a timeless dub with infinite horizons and the most frictionless drum loops.

Thor - Aliens Don't Boogie (Octal Industries Remix)
The majestic Aliens Don't Boogie was an instant banger when it was released back in 1999 and has been a regular in the bags for some of the largest DJ's in the techno scene for years. Now some of the big names in the Dub techno scene make their homage to this classic and do so with style.
Firstly we have the don of the Russian techno scene Andrey Pushkarev transforming it into a ultra-deep hypnotic voyage. The Icelandic techno youngling Waage brings his hallmark dub influences and creates an after- hours delight from the source material. On the flipside, it starts with a remix from the brothers Mark & Matt Thibideau. The Canadian sensations are on their A-game with this one; creating a delicately structured atmospheric yet groovy take on the original. The release is completed with a deep and trippy remix from the Icelandic dub techno legend Octal Industries.

"The wait is over as we finally have a new release ready by one of the originators of Icelandic techno. It's been a while, but worth the wait - as he delivers a straight-shooter, destined to find place in the record bags of all serious djs for years to come. The EP consists of four dub-influenced techno tracks - each one exploring the depths of sonic and emotional landscapes. Some might even say glacial and atmospheric, yet perfect for a late night spin at the clubs. "W is the much-anticipated debut album of Waage, a young & exciting Reykjavik-based producer. His debut EP offers a spacious, texturally intoxicating and hypnotic minimal techno a journey through rhythmatic musical landscapes.AW1 is a ode to Basic Channel a propulsive, yet delicate, mantra. The repetitive nature of it will take a hold of the listeners and project them into previously unknown state of mind. W6 is reminiscent of some of the finest works of legendary Icelandic techno producer Exos, who happens to be the mentor of this young up and coming artist. The whole EP is driven by curiosity and passion, and despite some obvious influences manages to offer something fresh and exotic for the adventurous music consumer.AThule Records is considered by many to be a pioneers in the field of dub-influenced techno music and was a starting point for many of Iceland's most renowned electronic musicians.

Thule Records camp is hitting it hard these days. This time it‘s a collaboration between two pioneers within the Icelandic techno scene. On the A-side, we have Static, a hypnotic groove with indistinguishable voices and shimmering dub chords, and Útkall, minimalistic dub techno mantra. On the flipside we have the heavily-rhythmic Sedna, where the drums and bass compliment each other in such a way that it might cause involuntary muscle movements, and at last Timelaps, a delicate minimalistic voyage. Ohm is best known for his releases on Force Inc with Exos. Octal Industries, a veteran who has already gained a respectable reputation within the IDM community under his Ruxpin pseudonym, returns to his origins with this collaboration. Thule Records is considered by many to be a pioneer in the field of dub-influenced techno music and was a starting point for many of Iceland‘s most renowned electronic musicians.

Remastered classic release from 1998! Well respected Icelandic label, releasing heavily dub-influenced minimal techno by artists such as Exos, Thor, Octal, Ozy... We have the honour to present you in future some of the best releases re-mastered on vinyl again! The Icelandic electronic musician is a collective animal. He tends to gather in groups. In 1995 with the founding of the label Thule Records the first official herding was confirmed. Icelandic electronic music artists were united under one flag. Though, this particular label was not the first of its kind, they did have a certain agenda of reaching out toward foreign markets – thing rarely been done before in Iceland. The owners of the label bought themselves a cheap and barely functional car outside of London and drove around the city distributing their first release personally – while having to stop the car every 20 minutes to pour water over the engine to prevent it from overheating. That first release became a success and showed that electronic music made in Iceland had much to offer to the European market. Thule Records was a gateway to Europe for many Icelandic artists. A platform of expression for young artists. After almost seven years of activity and about 70 releases the label went on permanent hiatus. It was a starting point for many of Icelands most renowned electronic musicians and is considered to be a pioneer in the field of dub-influenced techno music.

TRACKLIST:

INFO:
After putting out a slew of self-released cuts as LKY, Figure finally gets a hold of the rising techno talent that is Nathan Lockwood. Hailing from the UK, this young talent carries an extensive understanding of Britain’s techno lineage, with over a decade of experience in the game both as promoter and DJ.
Now fully coming into his own as a producer, LKY’s tracks are informed by the loopy nature of his progenitors, while still retaining some of the core dub influences and yet always keeping a propulsive momentum going.
On his EP for Figure, title track Symmetry Zone opens with full force, seamlessly intertwining twisting rhythms and searing percussion into a powerful maelstrom of energy. The A2 Chaser is a more reduced take on the formula, rolling out a muscular groove with only a handful of elements, such as precise low-end and some curious synths doing all the work.
On the flip, LKY shows a deeper side to his work, focusing on the hypnotic element that he has become known for. Tracking strikes a wonderful balance between the dubby synth stabs and driving claps, while Formed has an almost Deep House-feel to it, imbued with gorgeous warm ambiance and teasing vocal snips. The digital format of X38 comes with bonus track Idle Ride, a deeper, more tribal affair, displaying LKY’s versatility as a gifted producer.

DJ SNEAK on Toy Tonics! Yes. It's happening. Another US legend joins the German house label. After Kai Alcé (EP on Toy Tonics in September 2023) and Joe Claussell who did an amazing remix for the label some time ago, now it's DJ Sneak. It makes sense as Toy Tonics stands for that funky mix of three main inflences: original amercian soul based house music, the italo disco heritage and the more London or Paris 1990ies wildstyle house sound. DJ Sneak reached out to the label last year giving his props and showing love for many of Toy Tonics releases and the guys immediately invited him to join the label with an EP as its also his sound that is getting so popular again with the younger dance generation. So here it is: 6 tracks (4 on the vinyl) that remind the classic, bumpin DJ Sneak sound. Full of energy and emotion. Perfect for the dance floors of today and great to introduce the maestro to the kids who love house now but never heard about the grandmasters.

Pev swiftly follows up the Pulse EP with another four tracks of sprightly club gear that continue to shape out his current areas of exploration in the studio. As ever, there are no fixed concepts or approaches - just an instinct for energising, inventive tracks taking in a range of tempos and rhythms.
The first half of Pulse Modulation EP is marked out by linear rhythms which showcase the most techno aspects of Pev's sound. 'Pulse V' is charged with the kind of alien synth lines which could only come from his studio, but also draw a line to the hi-tech soul of foundational Detroit techno. 'Pulse VI' has a starker, bleep-led sound pitched towards tougher dancefloors.
'Pulse VII' strips things back in comparison, leaning in on a blanket of bass and keeping the drums sparse and to the point - a study in soundsystem pressure. Widening the spectrum of the record, 'Pulse VIII' sees Pev make a rare push up into 160+ territory - something normally reserved for his DJ sets. Swerving obvious break edits, his take on jungle is lean and crisp, delivering a fresh slant on the sound while maintaining the sharp focus of his current output.
Livity Sound is a label set up by Peverelist in 2011 as a vehicle for a raw and exploratory strain of UK techno, rooted in the heritage of UK dance music and sound system culture. It has since become one of the UK's foremost protagonists for cutting edge underground electronic music.

DJ Koze - B. Nices Wölkchen (Robag´s Bronky Frumu Rehand)
UPC: 827170138728 Release date : March 24th 2014
Tracklist: A. Amygdala (Roman Flügel remix) B. Nices Wölkchen (Robag´s Bronky Frumu Rehand)
Despite all the collaborations on last year's Amygdala by Pampa cult leader DJ Koze, there was still one recurring comment from the public: The album still had DJ Koze's trademark stamp all over it. That is why have been taking the proper steps to rectify this problem, offering a remix series, to further disassociate DJ Koze from this otherwise respectable assortment of songs. Here is the second installment. First up is Roman Flügel, co-founder of the legendary label powerhouse Ongaku/Klang/Playhouse, not to mention his more recent releases on Clone and Live At Robert Johnson. We have no idea what kind of app he used, but somehow he transformed the title track "Amygdala" from a laid-back, wind-chiming electro-pop number into a clock-working tech-house fairy tale. Roman wisely and tastefully retains the original guest spot from Milosh (of the duo Rhye), offering a grittier backdrop for his lulling vocal delivery. Next comes Robag Whrume, who is no stranger to any Pampa fan, having released an album and a mix CD with us, aside from his countless other works. Here he has taken the pleasant puffiness of DJ Koze's "Nices Wölkchen" and incubated it in a deep house cocoon. The witch-shifted voice of guest singer Apparat is given a new life, hovering amidst a mesmerizing mechanical groove. As always, there's nothing formulaic about Robag's formula as he serves up little moments of magic.
