What can be said about this monstrous Disco Funk extravaganza from 1982? Well, plenty actually... the only entry in the mighty Prelude back catalogue from Michael Wilson, 'Groove It To Your Body' is what this music is all about, a proper dance record, drenched in the funk, a groove that just doesn't stop. The A-side is incredible, but it's really the b-side dub mix that steals the show. Francois Kevorkian, who was Prelude's A&R man at the time, mans the desk on both mixes, but for a truly stellar work-out the dub flips all of the essential ingredients into a stew of rumbling synth and tape feedback and deep space delay and echo. This mix could be seen as the template of what was to come, and is an all-out dancefloor wrecker. Try it! It doesn't get any better than this. The very first legitimate reissue of this stellar 1977 Disco set on the legendary NYC Prelude label. 'Disconnection' is a rare beast, a studio group effort headed up by Robert Lee Holmes Jr., a man who had worked on numerous Soul, Funk & even Jazz titles in his native Nashville and beyond. A true underrated stalwart of Southern R&B, Holmes assembled a still mystery cast of musicians to craft this strange one-off LP. Who were the players? Where were they from? The whole release comes off as an almost 'Library' style LP with tracks short, and to the point. There is not a second or drop of Funk that is wasted throughout, proving that a little can go a long way! The music contained within is masterfully produced and arranged, it's obvious that whoever was drafted in by Holmes to realise his vision was the creme of the crop in terms of musicianship. This be the sound of the dancefloor, or the food for the starving sampler right here. Brilliant. The mystery around this fantastic LP is retained, even now in 2019 where this record is much sought after by collectors and diggers across the world. It's understandable why, this one has it all on paper, but most importantly it has the Funk in spades! Another classic from the West End archives! Forrrce's "Keep On Dancin" from 1982 was a huge record across the board from Bronx block parties to the Paradise Garage in NYC and DJ Harvey's "Moist" nights in London town, it's popularity was bolstered by a fierce Francois K dub mix on the B-side that stripped the record right back to it's most basic elements with a healthy dose of reverb assisted psychedelia thrown in for good measure! This killer cowbell led Boogie jam has always been a big hit with Disco freaks and continues to sound fresh some 30+ years later even making it's way into veteran UK DJ and music historian Sean P's "100 Boogie Essentials 1980-1984" list. High praise indeed! Re-mastered from original tape transfers, re-pressed and made available again for 2015 in conjunction with West End Records, New York City.

Local Talk are proud to present a live recording with Soulphiction & Netzer from 2018, recorded live just a month before the official release of 'Bizzness' the first of several releases Soulphiction and Local Talk released together.

Bizzness is by many considered a classic and had all the trade marks of a Soulphiction tune with its dusty soul and funk-infused house ingredients.
This live version really shows the vision and forward thinking of Michel Baumann using his Soulphiction moniker.

Also included on this release is a - as far as we know it - unreleased track called Dileila Emergency Dub.
A track built around a heady deep house theme that captures the sweaty, back-in-the-day feel we all love to hear in a track.

For over twenty years on the turntables, I.G.N.A has imposed his sound in the best clubs in Europe. Born in Sicily and raised in Emilia, I.G.N.A’s music is appreciated by many important artists with whom he shares the main stages. Massive mix alert! "It's party time tonight!" - NYC Mix maestro Mike Maurro has turned in a storming, 14+ minute version of Patrick Adams' classic "Weekend" by Phreek, a true blue club classic from 1978 (Later covered by Class Action, sampled by Todd Terry etc) "Weekend" was an absolutely huge Paradise Garage staple getting unlimited spins from Larry Levan during the club's lifespan, the definition of a "Garage" record indeed. Maurro's new mix rearranges and deconstructs the original version with so much style, respect and feeling, using unheard synth vamps, string sections, percussions and breakdowns pushing it into a whole new direction while retaining the feel of the original mix. The track is already electric in it's original form but here Mike Maurro pushes the energy levels right through the roof, birthing a fresh new mix of a stone cold classic!
On the B-side we have the low slung funk of The New Birth's killer "Deeper", released in '77 as a single on promo 12" this cut gets the MM mix treatment, with the intro extended and the drums brought fully upfront in the mix Mike has teased out all the best parts of the original arrangement while managing to stamp his always unique style on this new version. This midtempo groover is pure Soul all the way, one for the serious dancers that keeps rolling itself along into one of the most solid, funkiest grooves ever! Simply put, another set of essential mixes from a modern day master!

Rewind to 1995. Kevorkian's 'Wave Music' imprint has come into existence with a handful of releases. No-one could imagine that his self-produced 'FK EP' - the next release on the label - would be a stone cold classic. Easily one of the most consistent, exciting and solid EP's to come out of NYC during this golden era of dance music. Across 4 tracks we are taken on a sound journey through a world that is undoubtedly informed by FK's time as an engineer, DJ and most importantly, a music lover. EP opener 'Hypnodelic' brings us into this world, a deep, driving cut that fuses the dubbed out vocals of Freddie Turner against FK's keyboards and immaculate drum programming, oozing cosmic electronic soul, this track was destined to be a future classic. 'Mindspeak' also boasts some tough drums and with a respectful nod to Chicago is an incredibly mixed and arranged peak-time cut that will drive your dancefloor into deep space again and again. 'Edge Of Time' welcomes us to the flipside of the EP, wild Latin percussions, tablas and old school horn stabs drive this monstrous cut, not to mention cavernous dub FX and that huge bassline that just doesn't let up. Essential. 'Moov' rounds things out on a more subdued, stripped back vibe. Reversed percussions and spaced-out synth chords lace this beautifully understated and warm track, one that builds into a crescendo of melodies and hypnotic rhythms and the perfect way to close what has been a truly special musical journey. This essential reissue of the 'FK EP' has been fully licensed, sanctioned and remastered in conjunction with FK from the original master sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK, repressed onto high quality vinyl and packaged as the 1995 release was. Two all-time George Duke greats, 'I Want You for Myself' & 'Brazilian Love Affair', get the official remastered, reissue treatment.

First up, 'I Want You For Myself' Duke's 1979 jazz funk, R&B tinged gem has got all the ingredients of classic from his illustrious catalogue. A funked up guitar and exuberant percussion, compliment Lynn Davis' fabulously soulful vocals perfectly to make this a love song that's sweeter than most. A Duke classic wouldn't be complete without a killer, keys solo and 'I Want You For Myself' shows off his talents in abundance. The infamous Tom Moulton takes on edit duties splicing it into a 10-minute exploration of this fusion powerhouse, extending and enhancing elements in the mix, alongside adding an epic breakdown in a way that only he knows how.

On the B side, the stone-cold killer 'Brazilian Love Affair' is a Latin American, jazz funk classic. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Duke drafted in a host of greats to guest on the track, each bringing something unique to the table. From Airto Moreira's expert latin drumming, to Byron Miller's heavyweight bass and Roland Bautista's overdriven guitar. Duke supplements this to a tee with his blissful vocals and an otherworldly Rhodes solo. Much sampled, much loved, this is a masterpiece that needs a place in the collection.

Bolina Records, born in Italy and based in Stockholm, is the brainchild of the Cerrado Studio crew, a dynamic team of artists and DJs who have been organizing events and innovative initiatives since 2008.

Veteran DJ-producer Sebra Cruz (formerly of Margot and A&R for Bolina Records), after releasing his debut album with Life And Death by Dj Tennis, has teamed up with his protégé, Giacomo Cancellieri. Over the years, Cancellieri has become one of Sebra's favorite artists, with Sebra often describing him as a truly brilliant mind, consistently impressed by the new tracks he produces. Giacomo has notable releases on Rebellion and Margot Records.

"Rollerball," titled after Norman Jewison's 1975 film, carries a powerful anti-war message. It includes 4 versions plus an acapella, the latter intended to encourage DJ-producers of various genres to incorporate it in their tracks, thereby spreading the anti-war message on dance floors worldwide.

The original mix captures the essence of intimate club settings — intense yet lucid, with a sound texture fitting for an underground label. It continuously and forcefully spreads the anti-war message with deep seriousness.

The Funky Vocal Mix offers an Italo-French vibe, blending the smooth ambiance of 2000s dance music with a raw vocal tone.

Buck's version, hailing from Otranto, a quaint seaside town in the extreme south of Italy and owner of Substrato label, is marked by solid, rolling grooves that complement a deep and refined atmosphere.

Delphi's remix, one half of Tiger And Woods with Marco Passarani, completes the set. Its arrangement skillfully connects Chill and Detroit styles, infusing the project with a sense of robustness and insight.
