Pittsburgh Track Authority is back. After a five year hiatus from releasing music--during which time PTA maintained focus on expanding the catalog of their labels Pittsburgh Tracks, Love What You Feel, Machine Age Records, and Sleeve -- Preslav and Adam are back with a rejuvenated outlook on music and a renewed sense of purpose. The new album titled PA System is a collection of house and techno written to serve as a document of the past 18 months. As always with PTA, friends near and far, old and new, were a part of the writing process and the album includes collaborations with C. Scott, Santiago Salazar, Stuart Bogie, Nic Offer, Samurai Velvet, John Hall, and Kenny Peagler.

The Tunnel EP features 3 cuts of late night club techno. The A side is dancefloor
tested at Pittsburgh’s Hot Mass, with a driving bassline, a twisted lead that morphs
throughout, and a melodic breakdown that brings some release before the track
descends deeper. The “Dark” version drapes the bassline in distortion and locks in a
percussive groove with sharp chord hits and claps to work the floor. The “Light” mix
ends things with a steady chord groove and lush strings for a bit of brightness. More

The second tribute to one of Pittsburgh’s three rivers, the “Mon Acid” EP is 3 mixes of Acid-infused techno - a followup to 2013’s “Allegheny Acid” EP. The A cut features morphing 303 lines, uplifting pads and leads, and a warm, sustained bassline perfect for unleashing euphoria on the dancefloor. The “Edit for Gusto” version is for Gusto of Detour Pittsburgh, Hot Mass resident and long time Machine Age Studios affiliate, whose CDJ looping antics of the original inspired a tight, driving arrangement around a short, punchy bassline for max impact. The “Deep” mix flips everything underwater with aquatic pads and chord echoes, rounding out the release.

Pittsburgh Track Authority have been making waves the last couple of years following brilliant releases on some of the best underground house labels around such as Uzuri, Argot, Finale Sessions as well as their own Pittsburgh Tracks imprint. Last year saw their debut LP Enter The Machine Age gain them further fans and we invited them to remix Nils Penner’s I Can Be for which they delivered an absolute beast. The Pittsburgh based collective are as comfortable making disco-influenced grooves as they are funk- infused techno so when they offered us Your Situation with a view to doing an EP we jumped at the chance. Lead track Your Situation is one of those subtle, slow burners that comes completely alive on a big system. The minimal drums and simple string stabs combining to create a simple and spacious groove to get locked into. Classic, proper house music with that raw Omar S touch which when it’s done well, creates pure magic. Flipping over we have Rt. 28 which builds around a shuffling, percussive groove, simple repeating rhodes chords and one bar synth riff. Once again, the PTA boys inject that authentic Detroit influenced sound, keeping things refined and focussing on the nuts and bolts and avoiding any clutter. Closing this characterful release we have Gold Trim which as the name suggests has a more loungey vibe to it with plenty of live instrumentation and a loose, jazzy feel.

Wonder what happens when 4 friends occasionally link up and make a few cheeky house tunes in between talking about pizza, footy, and kick drums? Cheek Inc!
Wonder what music 4 people (Nic/Rafael from !!! and Preslav/Adam from PTA) who’ve released music on Warp, Good Looking Records, Freerange, Pittsburgh Tracks, and Dischord would write? Cheek Inc!
Wonder why? Cheek Inc! “Jacqueline” is the debut EP by Cheek Inc: a vocal house 12” with 3 mixes to make you feel like you’ve always known why you have to just keep going. The A side brings flavors of classic piano house, adding a huge sub bassline, soaring synth pads and leads. The B1 “303” mix strips things down with a hypnotic bass groove, rhodes chords that keeps the pace, and an insistent 303 line that runs in and out like you know who. The B2 “Still Life” mix takes it deep by cutting up the vocal, with a sliding, playful lead line, bouncy chords, and a drum groove that shuffles and swings while THAT string line never quite goes away. Artist Statement:
Conduit contains moments from the last two or so years of my life. There have been a lot of trying times and ups and downs in there. These moments are the exhaust of that life. Some more subjective than others. We are simply conduits for whatever flows through our cores. We tap into it. We allow it to flow through us. As it takes shape, we select its forms and hone its output. We are simply conduit for our work. Maintain the Flow State.

The follow up to Shawn's Timespan album for Pittsburgh Tracks is "...The Next Planet Over"--an EP featuring four new tracks from Pittsburgh's synth maestro. The EP opens with "Works on Paper", which is like a cross section of Shawn's acclaimed improvised live techno sets. The collection continues with "Last Light On" and "Switching Rails"--two deep, driving synth numbers that are the product of Shawn's interaction with the beautiful surroundings of Pittsburgh and its Midwestern grit. Finishing the EP is "One More Sometime" a rare downtempo excursion propelled by synth bass and lush atmospherics.

'these tracks are so consistent that it's almost hard to believe you're hearing a career-spanning compilation'
The album is titled Timespan and is by the veteran Pittsburgh artist Shawn Rudiman and will be released on November 24th worldwide on 2xLP and digital. The album is a carefully curated journey through almost 20 years of Shawn's music productions. The tracks collected here--the majority of which have not been heard outside of Shawn's studio--showcase a producer with seldom matched knowledge of studio techniques, while also hinting at his world renowned live performances. Having access to a vault of hundreds of unreleased compositions, we believe this is an important step in documenting Shawn's contribution to Pittsburgh and American dance music.
Artist Statement: "All of these tracks are simply snapshots of my life moments. They go from base-level warehouse to more cerebral sophistication. So, take them as such. Timespan sums it up well. Some songs are almost 2 decades old, some are fresh. It's a paragraph written with words that have years between them. Somehow they still all sort of make sense together." - Shawn Rudiman
