Constant Sound's electro arm, Infiltrate, calls upon the considerable talents and technical heft of London Modular Alliance for a bruising EP of body-popping exploration strapped to a tough n' funky beatdown. "Crack Fox" is as nervy and nimble as the title might suggest, while "Regular Customer" takes things in a hyper-detailed direction compatible with the kind of advanced machine funk you expect from Silicon Scally. "Blinky" follows suit with another artfully woven web of twitchy synth hooks and deftly sequenced drums, and then "Other Worlds" switches things up with some seriously hefty bass pressure pivoting around a dubstep attitude towards space and moodiness.

London Modular Alliance - Low Swung
Censor Music welcomes London Modular Alliance with four original tracks from key member Phil Ventre and a remix from Censor Music boss Alex Jann.
The record opens with title track Glass Cannon - a paranoid and spatial electro bleeper. Jann elevates the dystopian feels with some bang in his Corrupt Data Mix, working some wigged-out mechanics up into this kicking dance floor mover.
On the other side Ventre plays with beat constructions having full on fun with his creativity. Lo-slung drums and floating synth stabs open up Mom’s Knife before it builds into a pacey shuffler. Super Hang On launches off tumbling, cut-up amen’s which land on a jumpy kick and dirging bassline. Low Swung shows off Ventre’s beat programming at his most syncopated and frantic, a neat ending for this varied release from a modular synth expert.

Dimensions Recordings is proud to welcome London Modular Alliance back to the fold with their most dynamic and exciting release to date. Following on from 2017’s superb Hands & Brains EP, the group present four new tracks on the ‘Materials EP’.
Across the release, London Modular Alliance demonstrate their depth, technicality and playfulness in an EP that will find favour with dance floor enthusiasts and electro purists in equal measure. The London based crew are now firmly instated as the UK’s prime electro proponents. From their powerful live shows and their small but perfectly sourced modular gear store in East London to their ever growing and impeccable catalogue, LMA are now established as a key artists in a reinvigorated and bristling electro scene worldwide.
Moons Delux’s ‘Know No Better (London Modular Alliance Remix)’ is a crossover masterpiece. LMA’s take on the Irish band’s song sees them use a sprawling, vocal introduction, (with a vocal that might be more reminiscent of the likes of Caribou or even Thom Yorke) which eventually breaks to give way to a devastating barrage of beats that will no doubt see a broad range of DJs find space in their bags for it. ‘No Response’ strips things right back, tight, minimal production which is brimming with elastic funk and character - electro boogie. On the flip, ‘Chrome’ is a purist masterclass, energetic percussion, deep sub bass and detailed arrangement make it a versatile cut. The EP rounds off with ‘Super Jupiter’, and by no means are LMA letting up - the very fact that a track of this stature is final cut on the EP shows the sheer craftsmanship on display.

A1. Brockie Det
A2. Millitant
B1. Advance & Proceed
B2. Tremors
B3. Wolves
Short info:
Having impressed on the “Home Grown” EP, released in March of this year, London Modular
Alliance return to Hypercolour with the 5 track “Wolves” EP.
Once again, a heavy arsenal of modular synths and analogue hardware were deployed in the
production of these tracks, each once packing a punch and aesthetic that will appeal to many.
“Brockie Det” fires out the blocks with on point electro beats and melancholic pads, whilst “Militant”
continues the theme, with dusted drums and thick washes of bass for a real futuristic funk moment.
Elsewhere on the EP, the disassembled arrangement of “Advance & Proceed” gives off a cold and
discordant atmosphere, but remains firmly in groove and sonically tight, there’s a distinct jazz flare in
the mix also! “Tremors” hits hard and heavy, giving the Detroit electro cats a run for their money,
whilst the EP title track, “Wolves” is a busy and inspired slab of British IDM at its very best. More

A1. Civic Society A2. Home Grown B1. Lucid B2. Saunton
Short info:
Hailing from London, London Modular Alliance are a trio of modular enthusiasts, often performing live, completely on the fly using modular synths and live improvisation. Members include Koova , Yes Effect and Pip Williams , but on this new EP for Hypercolour , Pip Williams AKA Phil Venture strikes alone with four
devastating cuts. With previous releases on UK techno label Brokntoys and the Kirk Degiorgio’s Applied Rhythmic Technology (ART) label , LMA continue a fine run of releases with the “Home Grown” EP . The production aesthetics across the four cuts are second to none; “Civic Society” pairs up dark
atmospherics and driving electro beats that furl into rolling breaks, whilst “Home Grown” is a pacey and bustling burner. More forward motion electro vibes are in evidence on “Lucid” , and EP closer, “Saunton” combines dense ambience, broken beats and acidic bass, all with a gloss and shimmer that makes the music
of London Modular Alliance so engaging.
Selected DJ reactions
Elephino - Looking forward to playing this LOUD
A Made Up Sound - I’m digging lucid - thanks
Cosmin trg - h e a t
Ethyl - Decent this!

Swedish producer Ola Obergman has been at the top of his game for over 20 years now, dropping superb electro on the finest labels. Last year he dropped a fantastic full-length album on Pariter, but now steps up to Infiltrate with a direct dance floor offering. 'Norma Cluster' pairs busy drums and bass with more atmospheric leads before 'Invariant Hyperbola' has a perfectly crisp boom-bap that is run through with synth sequences that get your head amongst the stars. 'Sterile Neutrino' is more raw and ragged with another irresistible rhythm and 'Dragonfly44' closes in a thoughtful fashion.

You could say, ahem, that Infiltrate has infiltrated deep into our conscious with its fine run of releases as we are well and truly locked in to the output each and every time. As far as we can tell, both of these artists are new names who are making their first releases here - or they are at least appearing on Juno for the first time. But the music is so impressive we find it hard to believe this is their debut. Cyphon kicks off with the tight, twitchy electro workout that is 'Hegemony' which Gene Harvest mixes into something more full fat and celestial. Konertymi's 'Valtameri' is a rich, colourful world of freeform melodic arps and arching heavenly chords while Astraali Suunnittelu could be a Kraftwerk does modern electro tune.

Sound Synthesis - Outro Back To It
Keith Farrugia aka Sound Synthesis' home base of Malta may not be renowned as electro central, but the consistent stream of superlative releases he's made there under the name Sound Synthesis have certainly put him on the map. In keeping with the floor-aimed functional nature of his tracks, this eight cut selection is a double 12" rather than an album and indeed, wherever you dip into it you'll find iron-cast electro manoeuvres destined to keep feet moving. Check 'DNA Memory' for acid-inflected bounciness with swooping strings, 'Paradox' for Aphex-style moodiness, 'I Guess You Know' for stripped back 80s influences and 'Emotional Response' for wistful heartstring tugging. A valuable addition to any electro DJ's armoury, this set has the right tune for just about every moment you care to mention.

Sound Synthesis - Back In Time
The Maltese machine funk specialist himself Keith Farrugia is back once more with yet more of his impeccable electro business as Sound Synthesis. This time the prolific producer is shoring up on Burnski's Infiltrate label with four cool and deadly cuts which build on his previous drops for 20:20 Vision, Furthur Electronix, Orbital Mechanics and more besides. From the nervy sci-fi flex of 'Motor Space Maps' to the playful fun n' games of 'Back In Time', Farrugia knows exactly what he's doing within the electro blueprint, and his tracks are reliably punchy warm - a true master at work.

In 2018, unknown artist James Infiltrate dropped an album of smart electro tunes that get everyone talking. It turned out to be an alias of James Burnham aka Burnski aka the Constant Sound boss aka Instinct, who is one of the most visible and prolific artists of recent years. Now some of the cuts from that album get choice remixes - AlexJann flips 'Flash' into a caustic electro banger with bright synths and twisted bass. Stojche goes for a lurching, loopy, scintillating and loopy remix of 'Isolate' that takes you to the stars and the flip offers up an acid laced electro cruiser from Sound Synthesis and Relpek mix of 'Reconnect' that is melodic and mysterious.

Sturdy electro thumpery from Konery TMI, served up in five portions across what will surely prove a highly delectable EP for fans of the genre. Opening track 'Nauhuri' and 'Automaa' are both full of grace and gorgeous, effortless glide, while 'Lumivyory' alters the mood somewhat to get down and dirty with some thoroughly filthy acid squelch filth. 'Polaaritahti' takes its cue from the more minimal 80s sounds of Egyptian Lover or Hashim, before we draw to a close with the more serene and soothing 'Mustikka'.

Back in 2018, previously unheard artist James Infiltrate impressed via a punchy EP of club-focused electro numbers. It later emerged that the mysterious producer was none other than Constant Sound founder Burnski. Here he dons the alias once more for a full-length excursion three years in the making. It's a fine album, too, with the long-serving producer delivering a winning combination of punchy, club-ready beats, sci-fi fired synth sounds, moody Michigan bass and the kind of authentically spacey atmosphere that has long been associated with the greatest electro records. There's also enough subtle variety in terms of tempo and style to guarantee that you'll not get bored of it any time soon. Highly impressive, but did we really expect anything less? More

Since launching in 2018, Constant Sound's electro-fired offshoot Inflitrate has put out some superb music from artists including such admired old hands as Borai, London Modular Alliance and Ste Roberts. On the label's first missive of 2021, it welcomes Relpek AKA Constant Sound regular Kepler (both aliases of Leeds-based Matthew Farrow). What we get is a series of well-made and well thought out electro numbers that combine punchy beats and fuzzy analogue basslines with a variety of spacey and ear-catching musical elements (lead lines, chords, riffs etc). Rumbling and far-sighted A-side cuts 'Nova' and 'Binary' are arguably the toughest and most club-ready, while 'Celestial' and 'Delay' are a little deeper and more melancholic in tone. Impressive stuff all told.
