Dan Shake makes a solid return to his Shake Records imprint with three tunes ready to make an impact. ‘Paper’ and ‘Bounce’ are tinged with records from Dance Mania, hip house and acid house legend Tyree Cooper, and a cheeky trance mix Dan made with Yomanda ‘Synth and Strings’ in mind, one of the last track he played out to a crowd. ‘Paper’ and ‘Bounce’ are the reflection of an artist still feeling the vibe from his last gigs, which saw Dan make a debut at Printworks, and coin one of the last live Mixmag labs before the world went into lockdown. Dan explains - “I made these tracks in April 2020, immediately after the sudden cutoff of nightlife. My last weekend of gigs was incredible and left me with a big room, high energy mentality. I’d been listening to and playing out a lot of ghetto house and Dance Mania style records which no doubt pushed these tracks in that direction. Faster, harder and heavier than the majority of the music, ‘Paper’ and ‘Bounce’ gave me a hit of a sound I was craving and had just been immersed in. Directly inspired by an urge to be back on a dance floor, the thought of playing them out feels slightly surreal, but something that gives me tingles thinking about too.” Did Dan know he’d sit on this music for over a year before releasing it or playing it out? Perhaps not. However, timing is key and clubs and festivals within reach, he’s waited patiently for a time he knows they’ll hit the sweet spot we’ve all been missing. More

Denis Sulta’s Silver Service imprint - an offshoot of Sulta Selects - present SSSS-3, a two-track collaborative package from the inimitable Hammer and Atlus, Denis’ own darker alias.
Taking reign over the A-side, Belfast export Hammer brandishes a weighty dose of low-slung, swollen bass and disorienting vocal stabs on ‘Dance Since’. Using a palette of cathartic 90s house vocals he morphs their energy into something far more twisted.
For the B-side, Atlus forges an equally hefty fusion of raw percussion and swirling vocals, spun round by a dizzying acid bass lead.
Wasting no time in heading straight to the dancefloor, SSSS3 sees two esteemed characters doing what they do best.

Four timeless tracks each with their own mood, Cody’s hard hitting rhythms and rich chords are elevated by Eliza’s seductive vocal hooks. Dan Shake rounds off the package with a broken beat remix of title track ‘Flame’. Cody Currie comes through with another EP that exhibits his deftness in working with Eliza Rose’s signature vocals. The pair immediately turned heads earlier this year with their debut collaborative single ‘Moves’, which came out on Toy Tonics, and received high praise from Rolling Stone, 6 Music, Worldwide FM, and Radio 1. Dan Shake was another head instantly hooked in by ‘Moves’, and having admired Cody and Eliza respectively as individual artists for a long time, he knew it was time to sign them on Shake. “You instantly know a Cody release when you hear it and I just love his jazzy, laid back style” explains Dan. Introduced to Eliza’s music a while back, Dan “instantly fell in love with her voice. I knew I somehow needed to get them both involved with Shake, and I’m hyped to have a collaboration early on in what seems to be set to be a long standing collaborative journey between them” Eliza’s jazz infused tones embody the signature sound that multi-instrumentalist and producer Cody has crafted for himself on labels like Razor n Tape, Classic Music Company, and Toy Tonics. He’s a next generation producer connecting the dots between jazz, soul, house, garage and broken beats. DJ/Producer, vocalist and Rinse FM radio host Eliza Rose has been writing and singing since the age of 15. Paying homage is something at the forefront of Eliza’s artistry, which is apparent in her monthly Vinyl Factory Live series, and the lyrics to title track ‘Flame’ are a nod to Gwen McCrea’s ‘Keep The Fire Burning’. Four tracks each with their own mood, ‘Flame’ is one for the clubs, you’ll hear Cody’s vocal complement Eliza’s on ‘Another Lover’ which also has a stripped back Midnight Dub version, and Dan rounds off the package with a broken beat remix. Produced in Chicago by the well loved and late DJ Chunk-A-Bud aka Adam Malian (RIP) all the way back in the mists of 1994 on Rick Lenoir's coveted House Jam label this 12" undoubtedly takes it's cue from the cities vast, rich and deep heritage of DJ's and predecessors. This record proudly contains the spirit of the Music box, The Warehouse and all the other like-minded spaces that fuel it's Disco thrusting beats, anyone with a passing interest will know the elements that make up 'Son of a beatnik', they are classics in Chicago and beyond! This is one of those records that just doesn't stop, it's still getting caned today by those lucky enough to own a copy. A true blue cult classic, real deal house music from the windy city. A truly rare 12" that doesn't show up very often 'Son of a beatnik' is an essential release from a particularly fertile period in house music, chopped up, sampled, looped and programmed with LOVE! A surefire winner, this record will cause infinite damage on any dance-floor. Truly essential stuff here, this reissue has been realised with the full involvement of Rick Lenoir and is 100% legit! From the vaults of seminal Canadian house label Big Shot we're proud to present a fully legitimate and remastered selection of classics and obscurities from the labels enviable catalogue and the masterful crew of Nick Fiorucci, Komix & co. Leaning on the late 80's and early 90's output of the label and featuring cuts from some of the first releases. Amy Jackson, whose sultry 1989 jam 'Let Me Loose' is a class example of the deepest vocal House done right kicks off proceedings, followed by Jillian Mendez's classic 'Don't Know What You're Missing', another '89 vocal burner punctuated by classic piano's and synth lines. These tracks are the real deal! On the b-side we are treated to In-Dex's classic 'Give Me A Sign', a perfect blend of Freestyle attitude and early House atmosphere that hits the spot just right. Late Of The Pier announce a special 10th anniversary edition of their cult debut album ‘Fantasy Black Channel’, produced by Erol Alkan and released in 2008 to great acclaim. Fittingly, the reissue will be released on a limited lenticular edition of 500, alongside a standard edition both with heavyweight vinyl. Both reissues are accompanied by a digital companion album of unreleased demos and outtakes from the album recording sessions – set for release through Alkan’s Phantasy Sound label, landing in stores on 18th January 2019. LOTP (Sam Eastgate, Andrew Faley, Ross Dawson and Sam Potter) were a band of inter-dimensional musicians who landed in the late noughts, whose wild journey took them from the quiet North West Leicestershire countryside to the stages of Coachella, Tokyo and beyond, touring with the likes of Soulwax and Justice. Their music was a mutant take on pop that described the chaos of being a teenager by looking forwards and backwards over and over again until the present moment started to make sense. Following the release of Fantasy Black Channel they put out singles ‘Blueberry’ and ‘Best In The Class’ in 2010, picking up fans from Mike Skinner to Dave Grohl along the way. Talking in a 2014 interview, Grohl exclaimed, “They blew my fucking mind. They’re called Late of the Pier. They made one record and disappeared. […] They use crazy computers and then they rock and it sounds like dubstep for one minute, then it’s a crazy prog thing, and it’s like, ‘Wow’.” More
