thompson & lenoir - "Can't Stop The House" (LNR Underground remix)
In terms of "legendary" House records, it doesn't get any better than LNR's "Can't stop the house".
Originally released in the golden year of 1987 the Chicago duo of Larry Thompson and Rick Lenoir (with a helpful production assist from the mighty Adonis and a dope remix from Steve "Silk" Hurley) crafted this anthemic slab of chunky, funked out jacking House. "Can't stop the house" is a straightforward, stripped back club track, no special FX - just straight up party music for sweaty dancefloors. This official 2016 reissue contains 4 mixes of this stone cold classic - The vocal mix, basement mix, house of trix mix and the rapid edit, all culled from the numerous pressings that came out in 1987 - 1989. In a sense, this is "the complete" collection of this cornerstone of Chicago House. The full set. All audio has been lifted from Rick Lenoir's private collection of reel to reel tapes from his basement and remastered accordingly. This reissue has been realised with the full involvement of Thompson & Lenoir and is 100% legit! Don't snooze, this one deserves a spot in any self respecting House heads record bag or DJ set, classic material made available again for 2016 - You can't stop it!

What can be said about LNR's "Work it to the bone"? Another slamming piece of Chicago House history brought to us by the dynamic duo of Larry Thompson and Rick Lenoir (LNR - Larry N' Rick) of the cult House Jam label. This is some straight 1987 HEAT, real House music for the heads, from the very beginning! "Work it to the bone" does exactly that, works every single part of your body into a frenzy, a cacophony of jacking sparse drum programming with that infamous descending bassline and that dude chanting, asking us to join him "C'mon let's work!" This record is a total classic. Period. Featured on this official 2016 reissue we have 4 mixes of this monolithic slab of machine funk that originally came out on various pressing between 1987 - 1989: The vocal mix, the instrumental, LNR clubhouse remix and the LNR underground mix. n a sense, this is "the complete" collection of this cornerstone of Chicago House. The full set. All audio has been lifted from Rick Lenoir's private collection of reel to reel tapes from his basement and remastered accordingly. Tracklist:
A1. My Heart (90s Mix)
A2. Drift
B1. Back To
B2. Fortune
B3. Roadblocks
With Australia‘s dance music scene being more prolific than ever, it‘s only fitting that one of the continent‘s hottest tickets appears in the Running Back universe. Sam Alfred‘s debut on it’s subsidiary Misfit Melodies melts the old with the new, swings the hips with the hits and unites the past with the future. The man with the adorable underground white label mp3 Shine II Dawn under his belt, is not only a DJ to die for, but also a witty, interesting and most of all enchanting studio talent. Aptly titled Roadblocks, this 5-track-EP once more underlines his appeal: his-speed house and sprinkles of retro rave meet the melodies of tomorrow.
While My Heart and Back To sound like Strictly Rhythm tracks played by UK Garage DJs, Drift and Fortune are prime examples of Sam‘s production powers. last, but not least the title track is the result of a trip to Dekmantel and a nod to the proggy bounce of the 90s. Built with love and made to last.

Pete Heller's Big Love - Big Love (Original 12" Mix)
It’s almost hard to believe that a record with anthem status like Pete Heller’s ‘Big Love’ was created out of a happy accident, but that is exactly how it happened. Left to his own devices as his studio partner Terry Farley went to watch a Chelsea game, Pete Heller was playing around with his Akai sampler when he produced what is arguably one of the most recognisable pieces of dance music of the 1990’s. Earlier this summer Urbana Records boss and Spanish powerhouse David Penn took to remixing this enduring classic. Winning over dancefloors in Ibiza and beyond with his signature rolling bassline and infectious groove, the record soaring to both Beatport and Traxsource #1. Now Defected present a special 12” package that features David’s remix, joined on the A-Side by The Dronez Remix, where house masters Erick Morillo, Harry Romero and Jose Nunez lend their classic house capabilities to the track. On the B-Side is Pete Heller’s original, sounding as incredible as ever over twenty years after its original release, once again proving the timelessness of ‘Big Love’.

6th Borough Project - The Other
It’s been exactly a year since the 6th Borough boys emerged from their hiatus to bring us the Rhythm & Truth EP. This killer three tracker picked up where they left off and showed us that fans of deep, dusty, dubbed-out disco were as hungry as ever for new 6BP material and went on to garner praise from the likes of Jamie 3:26, Luke Solomun, Dam Swindle, Young Pulse and the Faith crew to name a few. Here on their follow up we’re treated to more of the good stuff and sees Craig Smith and Graeme ‘Revenge’ Clark whipping up four new cuts spanning speaker- wobbling sub-aquatic grooves and stripped back deep house. One Way sets the tone with a subtle yet infectious percussive workout which is one of those mood setting tools which looks set to become a lot of DJ’s secret weapons this summer. Filtering strings and tweaked synths add that classic Chicago energy which won’t fail to get you locked into it’s groove. Spare Change treads a similar path but goes heavier on the echoing synth stabs and deep string pads proving that when the rhythm is rolling this nicely just let it roll. Flip over for Backlash which takes us deeper still with lush chords and driving square wave bassline taking centre stage supported by an unrelent ing kick drum which helps to keep an intensity throughout the arrangement. Closing out the EP we have The Other, which sees 6BP dropping the BPM’s to create a low-slung slice of deep, underground house perfection.

B3. Beyond2
Highlight:
Space Dimension Controller returns to Aus Music with six tracks of superb cosmic adventure
EP arrives digitally or as a six-track 12" including exclusive vinyl-only cut 'Acid Funk Sequel' on July 26th
Space Dimension Controller is an intergalactic musical explorer. His sci-fi sounds paint technicolour pictures
in widescreen. Whether crafting definitive albums like Love Beyond The Intersect on R&S, club-ready EPs
for Aus and Running Back or dropping collections of unreleased tracks on his own Tiraquon Recordings, his
work sounds futuristic yet nostalgic for the past. It is fueled by funk and crafted on synths, hardware, tape
machines and various other imperfect tools that lend it a loveable character.
His Final Quest EP is a "French-inspired" release, which is an influence that predates the Space Dimension
Controller alias and goes back to Hamill's teenage years. It is also the last EP from his current studio before
it is dismantled and moved to Amsterdam sometime this summer.
From start to finish, this new EP showcases Hamill's ability to craft emotionally evocative melodies and
genuinely absorbing soundtracks. Opener 'Jet Free' is awash with filtered synths that are sugary sweet and
underpinned by funky guitar riffs and laissez-faire grooves. The wonderful 'Cryfaze' has rueful pads spiralling
around sleek drums that bounce along next to supple neon arps, while 'Tiraquon's Final Quest' is a bubbling
and elastic rhythm run through with soft acid squelches and pixelated pads full of cosmic charm. '1 4 U' rides
on heavier drums but is no less joyous thanks to the crystalline melodies and dreamy vocals that swell the
heart. Vinyl exclusive 'Acid Funk Sequel' is another playful moon safari with buoyant bass patterns and
snappy drum funk under ever-evolving melodic refrains and 'Beyond2' closes down with forlorn, introspective
melodies that ripple over heavy-hearted chords.

As one of London’s most exciting selectors, he’s managed to position himself in the sweet spot of being the DJ’s DJ and causing wild scenes wherever he plays, with headline grabbing sets at Defected Croatia, We Out Here, Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide and many more. As a producer, musician and label owner, he continues to excel, armed with a vast knowledge of outernational sounds, from rare African disco, jazz, funk, to house, UKG and seemingly everything in-between. His open-minded approach has led to brilliant releases and remixes for labels as diverse as Soundway, Heavenly Sweetness, Permanent Vacation, Club Bad, Delusions of Grandeur, Atjazz Recordings and his own Vive La Musique imprint. Having played a few gigs together, it was only a matter of time before Jimpster convinced Aroop to get an EP together for Freerange and the resulting Re Bulele EP couldn’t be any more satisfying! Leading the charge, 'Mama Mwana' captivates with entrancing thumb piano loops and a traditional African vocal all propped up by a subtle yet chunky house beat to lock the dancers in. 'Re Bulele' features the hypnotic vocals of Botswana native Fox Meropa. Aroop masterfully combines a deep, techy Afro House groove with glassy synth pads to form a stripped back instrumental with the vocals front and centre. Seemingly disparate elements shine on this wonderful alternative to the deluge of maximal Afro House tracks being released these days. Moroccan producer FNX Omar delivers the goods with a sublime remix of Re Bulele. Creating tension with layers of looping vocals along with a rolling, percussive groove. Like the original, this remix transcends genres and will create special moments on the dancefloor, whether it be in a dark, sweaty basement or daytime festival in the sunshine.

Renowned techno artist Jon Hester returns to Rekids Special Projects with a thundering fourtrack release, aptly entitled ‘Momentum’. Since his previous Rekids appearance, the Berlin-based Minneapolitan has continued delivering a steady stream of club ready cuts on labels like Transmat, LET and Deeply Rooted. Following a busy summer playing at the likes of Rex Club, Tresor and Hï Ibiza, Hester now returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects techno imprint in fine form. ‘Accelerator’ opens with solid, overdriven kicks, deep chords, electrifying synth patterns and saturated claps followed by ‘Beatwave’ which features rhythm-led vocal sampling, upbeat Arp stabs and sparking cymbals. On the flip, ‘Zoned’ thunders with low-end frequencies, emphasised by a flying groove with snappy hats, subtle claves and white noise hits when to finalise ‘Part 4’ bounces with distant congas and tribal percussion, tight hi-hats, floating pads and a punchy kick.
