Barcelona's Pau Roca is back with his 2nd release on LA label Pleasure of Love, EP of cool-hazy balearic house with equal parts sunrise and sunset energy.

Roca is a standout in the Barcelona DJ scene, with his party Libido and labels Escola and Bons Records, he’s established himself as a premiere record collector/DJ and a producer in the scene. You can hear it in "Euphoria", a track that shows Roca’s deep understanding/appreciation of this music’s roots while updating the sound and capturing the mood and essence of the title. "Marble Arch" is another chugging, deep italo/spanish house number - filtering in breakbeats, choir patches, and a resonant lead to hypnotizing effect.

The legend Pal Joey brings a trademark sound to his version of "Euphoria" on the flip, lending vocals and organ to a tripped out and blissful vision of the track. "Hope" rounds out the EP, a downtempo, uplifting piece for lovers of atmospheric retro-house. More

With releases on Public Possession, Lisbon’s Ostra Discos, Centre Neptune, and his own italo influenced Mothball record label, Hysteric delivers an adventurous Pleasure of Love 12 Inch that continues to reward on repeated listens. 'Chrome Plated Broiler' kicks things off and lives up to the name, a bouncy late 80s new beat dance floor heater. Another highlight is 'Automatic Can Opener,' a post-disco tinged, xylophone led groover that highlights a cheeky vocal re-sampling bit to great effect. LA’s Pleasure of Love edit series is back, after a brief hiatus, with an eye towards the sounds of Italodance, New Beat, and late 80s acid.

Dino Soccio takes over editorial duties and delivers a darker, playful take on early rave meets disco edits. “Chimay Groove” is a thumping new beat number reminiscent of Lola’s Wax the Van, while “Acid5 Finale” is a lighthearted, rolling acid workout.

On the B side “Bump Theme” is a peak-time, driving Italodance DJ tool for rooms big and small. Rounding out the release is “Nana’s House,” an uplifting early 90s french-afro revision.

The desert drive opener “Midnight Sun” finds a hypnotic groove with woodwind leads and acoustic guitar on a cosmic journey through daytime disco. The A2, “Canguelo Perro,” struts through a Paraguayan groove with a sweet saturated guitar hook that sticks with you in the best possible way. The B side features an off kilter synth bass and pad heavy 80s Japanese flip in “Shojo Showdown” with crunchy effects and chugging arps leading the way.
