Berlin native and Rubisco label head Nick Beringer lays down some serious rolling beat science for Mosaic’s 5th LTDX edition. The EP kicks off in style in the shape of ‘Intercity’: straddling a square 4/4 house rhythm with an ‘Art of Trance’ spirit ? all brought together in contemporary style. Layers of subtly filtered melody pulsate their way throughout, rising and falling as minimal elements collide for maximal sonic impact.Switching to more familiar territory, ‘Time Shift’ reins things back a notch as tight 909 beats swing to well rounded bottom end, carrying the warm layers of evolving synths and chorded elements with precision effect. Nick Beringer debuts on INFUSE to open the label’s 2021 schedule, offering up his stellar ‘Blue Blood’ EP. A rising DJ and producer at the heart of Berlin’s minimal house scene, Rubisco boss Nick Beringer has formed a growing reputation as a ‘go-to’ artist for quality productions across the genre in recent years, with his diverse discography welcoming material via the likes of Raum…Musik, Taverna Tracks, Mulen Records and Berg Audio to name just a few. With a sound fusing classic Detroit house and techno with more modern shades, ranging from electro-tinged elements through to more dubby textures, the German talent kickstarts 2021 with an impressive debut outing on FUSE sister imprint INFUSE as he delivers his four-track ‘Blue Blood’ EP. Lead cut ‘Concave’ is a perfect example of Beringer’s ability to fuse genres and nuances with ease and fluidity as skipping percussion licks guide skittering sci-fi electronics and sweeping atmospherics throughout an up-front EP opener, whilst vinyl only cut ‘Aint Got Nobody’ delves into deeper realms as squelching basslines merge with icy hats and infectious vocal iterations. For this 34th release, we give you the opportunity to grab 6 fantastic trax done by Nick Beringer. Straight from germany, this talented producer delivered some of the best deep house music around. Entitled “The second floor ep” (after the 1st floor ep out on wax classic 4), it starts with “Afterhour cut 1” which is one of those eminently soulful house tracks with a sparse approach to production, all the elements sounding so crisp and distinct in the mix but judged perfectly. whilst "Afterhour cut 2" is a dancefloor anthem in the pure DJ Sneak tradition. A side ends with “Afterhour cut 3” draping
the drums in an all-enveloping atmosphere with its oven-warm pads and ricanalogue bass, punctuated with jazzy chords and vocal murmurings.On the flip side, with "Afterhour cut 4" & “Afterhour cut 5” he eplores the deep side of the new jersey sound. “Afterhour cut 6” showcases he’s excellent knack for crafting Moodymann style textures with the depth to boot, combining a solid rhythmic snap with drawn out vocal landscapes and Detroit-referencing melodies. Nick’s approaching house from various angles and tempos and naturally there's plenty of deft usage of samples; such an EP just demonstrate how on top of their game SKYLAX is right now - big tip! More
