„Straight ahead, boomy & effective big room Techno weapons“, one notorious Berlin record shop commented on Fadi Mohem’s Seilscheibenpfeiler debut EP „Reinforced“ back in July 2018. Now the rising Spandau DJ and producer is back for more, simultaneously strengthening and expanding the sound of his previous release with his new „Perception“ EP.
Recently, Mohem not only featured on two tracks off FJAAK’s sophomore album „Havel“ but also built his reputation as a selector - with sets at Berghain, Tresor or ADE and visits to Portugal, Italy, the UK and Vietnam. His new productions are all about the rush of a club night, be it peak time energy, hypnotic build-ups or transcendental moments. Tracks like „CX Sketch“ and „Insight“ show how deeply this young artist has already internalized techno’s evolution from Detroit to Berlin, the first resembling a classy Tresor club era anthem for today’s dancefloors and the latter preaching the minimal gospel of Robert Hood. The title track comes across rough and heavy with an aggressive FM bassline as its core, while closing track „Rinse“ slows things down a bit with deep and atmospheric breakbeat techno. Fadi Mohem is a pro in balancing raw power with well-informed aesthetics, and he only just started. More

Fadi Mohem is a fresh face straight out of the creative hotspot of Berlin Spandau. After a first release on WERK, he’s now taken the time to deliver a powerful Techno EP for his debut on Seilscheibenpfeiler.Raw 909 percussions embellished with housy synths cuts make “Moving On“ an unavoidable allrounder, perfect for peak time rave feelings in every imaginable location. With Reinforced and RS-290 he presents two razor sharp 4/4 weapons that perfectly show his passion for the faster and darker parts of the night. These two are to be used carefully...
Fadi Mohem definitely is a producer of variety and cannot be stripped down to just making peak time killers – as shown with Horus: With its dubbed out breakbeat vibes, this track is an immaculate ending to an EP, that might be his first one on Seilscheibenpfeiler, but surely not the last...

Following and expanding upon the line of thought put forward in her 2013 album Syzygy, Lucrecia Dalt ends in a place familiar, yet noticeably different on her new self-titled EP. Its two tracks, “Esotro” and “Veta”, continually defy expectation — haunting vocal ballads that trickle into clouds of white noise — but for an acquainted listener that won’t surprise. What may are the music's newly raw textures and palpable weight, counterbalancing the carefully wrought beauty that’s always been there. You wouldn't be totally wrong to call Dalt a "bedroom producer," but anyone can grab a laptop, a production software, and begin experimenting in the comfort of their own home. It’s rare to find a “bedroom producer” like Dalt with so sharp an ear, matching intimacy with technical rigor beat for beat. Her music is honest, for sure, but also impeccably engineered. To that point, everything on this EP Dalt crafted herself — no samples, no Ableton Live presets. Her composition process, much like her live set, is an improvisation structured by the tools at hand. Sounds are routed and rerouted, filtered and trimmed, finally emerging as envisioned, or, as often, not. Take the vocal textures on “Veta”: “Ahs and Ohs” made by people throughout the world that she compiled through an open call made on her tumblr. But regardless of method, she always produces crystal-clear, ever surprising,
seemingly inevitable music. At every stage, she's an original.

The unassuming maestro of techno music Donato Dozzy returns to Tresor Records on its 30th year with a new EP entitled 124. The record follows a majestic appearance on the Tresor 30 anniversary compilation and his expert devotion to the Roland TB-303, Filo Loves The Acid. True to form, 124 meddles sharp rhythmic minimalism and diverse textures, each track pushing at the epiphanic threshold as the boss of Spazio Disponibile allows his deeply intuitive productions to take effect.
"messy kafka world" introduces a frenetic and concentrated atmosphere of rhythmic forces, hallucinatory and euphoric in effect. Its dizzying staccato loops are given structure by strengthening beats and bleak synthetic pillars. "synthi chase" emits radical powers, as buzzing rhythms and monotone synths make raw gestures towards altered states. It shares a kindred spirit with "cassiopeia 36", seen in particular through its determined
and primitive pulses, nested within wobbling wood percussion and nervous synth repetitions. "wooden dolls don’t cry" stamps a warm groove, its tempered percussion taking centre stage as shimmering melodic loops threaten spiralling feedback. These dark, hypnotic tracks are flawlessly programmed to cast mesmeric momentums onto club floors and into loosened limbs.
124 represents Donato Dozzy ever-expanding his powers and musical freedom. His innate groove and inventive sound design push minimal and serene techno with a substantial weight and voice that sets him apart from others.

Jorge Ben & Toquinho - Carolina, Carol Bela
2
Joao Donato - A Rã
Repress!
Brazil 45 number 10 - remastered with refreshed artwork.
Jorge Ben is a name that any lover of Brazilian music will be very familiar with. He is widely regarded as the James Brown of Brazilian music and is famed for writing the Brazilian anthem ‘Mas Que Nada'. For the duet ‘Carolina, Carol Bela' he teamed up with the singer and guitarist Toquinho. Toquinho is best known for his collaborations, as composer and performer, with bossa nova poet Vinicius de Moraes.
'Carolina, Carol Bela' featured on the album Toquinho by Toquinho. It was originally released in 1970 on the small independent Brazilian label, RGE. The song was sampled by DJ Marky and XRS for their Drum & Bass track ‘LK’ (V Recordings, 2002). This went on to be a huge chart hit across the world, and a number one hit in the UK.
João Donato is a Brazilian jazz and bossa nova pianist. He has collaborated with many of the greats of Brazilian Music, including Tom Jobim, Astrud Gilberto and Gilberto Gil. He was one of the few Brazilian artists who went over to perform in the States during the bossa nova boom of the late 60’s. The song ‘A Rã’ was originally released on his seminal album Quem é quem, (EMI, 1973), an album that is full of great tracks and was considered as one of the 100 best albums of all time by the Rolling Stone magazine. BIOGRAPHY:
Flying saucers, whooping synths, and antennae-coming across an artist with a name like "Ancient Astronaut," what else would you expect? Yet this is something entirely different. Ancient Astronaut's debut doesn't deal in campy sci-fi tropes, but in mysteries that run deep as their basslines. Whether this record comes as a transmission from the future, or a strange artifact of the past, it's hard to say. Crackling futurist synths coexist with thick, almost tribal grooves.
Ancient Astronaut's productions are at once playful and painstaking, explosive and arranged, kinetic and curious. Blockbuster-worthy sonic pyrotechnics fill each track, and every blast is explored to its last frequency. Like a high-speed camera catches detail, Ancient Astronaut catches the smallest tone, twists and tweaks it into mad, dissonant shapes, and never loses momentum. Hi-hats and handclaps splay out in wacky elastic intervals, and tight synth riffs shred into roars of noise over a kick drum so deep it seems to burrow into the earth. What's old, and what's new? Ancient Astronaut asks the question. What's the difference?

BIOGRAPHY:
Other People is excited to debut the work of 19-year-old Russian producer Gena Volgarev, aka InLensk, with the Obratno EP. Translated as backward, or conversely, Obratno seems obsessed with and frustrated by a sense of nostalgia that can never lock its focus. Finely etched, highly detailed rhythms retain a cerebral cool fluttering over, under, and around melancholic digital melodies that bend and degrade sporadically. Meanwhile, the tactile use of filtering, extreme pans, and hypnotic microprogramming reveals an interest in sound’s ability to shift temporal perception and evoke a purely neural response. Yet there’s an intuitive warmth to a track like “U 1”, where a percolating guitar-line seeps through the austerity of a woody, lo-bit groove. Inspired by the artist’s childhood in the provincial village of Lensk (thus the pseudonym), Obratnoliterally looks backward for its world. The track titles codify
minute, yet impactful aspects of Gena’s past. “V 4”, for example, translating to “in 4”, references his tight quartet of best friends, skipping along with an appropriately jocular bassline, tottering cowbell, and a deep, accentual “Hahaha.” Wherever wistfulness appears there’s also anxiety, manifest acutely in the unpredictable percussion. A snatch of Amen break cuts to a strike of open hi-hat and then a roll of heavy toms, never repeating texturally, even if there is a constant pulse. It’s the contrast of speed and weight, between the drums and the melody, that creates a provocative air of avid melancholia — grasping for something not too far in the past that’s fading faster than it should.
