With interest in Disco as strong as ever, we continue to mine the SAM Records catalogue for Disco treasures. “Free” by Rhyze is one of the catalogue’s lesser known titles, but with its inspired rolling horn hits sprinkled throughout the song and its funk based organ and keys, it’s got all the elements for a current hit among disco and house afficionados. World renowned and Grammy award winning producer Louie Vega recognized this a few years back even before disco was back in the spotlight and gave it a massive injection of modern dancefloor energy. And now the universally recognized “King Of the Edit” Danny Krivit has put his unique musical touch on this disco funk jam. On the B Side is another disco treasure from legendary Phillie based producer John Davis. “Love Magic” had all the memorable and classic elements of the late 70’s disco era. One of the world’s premier DJ Duo’s, Chus & Ceballos are well known for their uniquely energetic sets that feature hard hitting techno influences but still retain an essential connection to pure American house Music. Their music shines particularly bright in the summer, when their driving percussions impact even bigger during outdoor festivals and in the European summer clubbing markets. For their new release on Nervous, they have found a song initially released by DJ Michael Flume in 2001 called Agolele. While the release had limited exposure in its initial release, Chus & Ceballos were inspired by the authentic tribal flavor and inspired instrumentation, and saw a vision of how they could turn this into a 2019 summer club anthem. Jasper Street Co. has cemented its reputation through the years as one of America's premier medium for quality soulful and gospel-based house music. With the release of the "Rejoicing" double vinyl album on Nervous Records, Jasper Street Co. is now going next level in presenting songs and productions that will be peak hour/hands in the air timeless anthems. Jasper Street Co. consists of vocalists Randy Roberts, Vonita White, Richard Burton and super producers Teddy Douglas and DJ Spen. Teddy is one of the founding and core members of The Basement Boys, a monumental production team behind multiple hits including the 1991 gold single "Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee, La Da Da)" - arguably one of the greatest house music productions of all time. The Basement Boys earned maximum respect from the music industry and fans worldwide as they always remained true to the roots of quality house, but still were able to bring that house feeling to productions with pop artists like Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz and Erykah Badu, while still making hits for core dance artists like Ultra Naté and Martha Wash. DJ Spen also has a storied connection with the Baltimore music world. From his days in the early 80s making mix tapes for local Baltimore radio shows to his experience as a founding member of a group called Numarx that originally recorded "Girl You Know Its True," which eventually was a number one worldwide hit for Milli Vanilli, to his eventual work with The Basement Boys, Spen has solidified his position as a major figure in the American house Music Industry. This double album includes the Number 1 Traxsource Charting single "My Soul Is A Witness," a cover version of the seminal Ultra Naté house music anthem "Rejoicing (I'll Never Forget)" featuring vocals by Dawn Tallman, and the gospel house stomper "Praying For You." Arthur Baker and Murk are two of the most iconic brands in electronic music. Arthur Baker’s career started in Boston, and then hit its stride while he was living in New York City in the 80s and 90s, and he now spends much of his time in Miami. Oscar G and Ralph Falcon aka Murk were born, raised, and lived their entire lives in Miami. This new single is a culmination of the three artists spending time together in Miami, and DJing on the weekly Murk Monday events at renowned Miami location Coyo Taco (delicious tacos up front, Beats in a secret club in the back). Coyo combines the tribal house percussion that Murk is known for with the party-driven synths, vocals and instrumentation that is Arthur Baker’s trademark. More

Chus + Ceballos join New York label Nervous Records with an infectious single titled ‘More I Want U’ featuring remixes from house luminaries DJ Pierre and DJ Vibe. For many years now both Nervous and Chus + Ceballos have been flying the flag for New York’s house music scene. However, aside from collaborating on their ‘Back On Tracks’ mix CDs nearly a decade ago, the two have never teamed up for a release. Having pioneered the Iberican sound, the Spanish DJ/producer duo have indisputably earned themselves legend status as they continue topping the charts whilst headlining the globe’s elite venues, not to mention the perpetual success of Chus’ renowned label Stereo Productions. A long-time platform for illustrious producers, Nervous Records is now set to release the pair’s forthcoming single with remixes from none other than acid house pioneer DJ Pierre and tribal house stalwart DJ Vibe. Featuring Chus + Ceballos’ signature groove-laden percussion, ‘More I Want U’ is rhythmic with high-octane sounds and a catchy vocal element that comes courtesy of ‘Dirty Love’ by Sunshine Jones on King Street Records. Dense & Pika are a British electronic production/artist/DJ duo compromising of producer/DJs Alex Jones (Hypercolour label boss) and Chris Spero better known to many by his Glimpse alias. The duo first came into fruition in mid 2011 with a number of white label releases. It wasn’t long until they were noticed by Scuba and have since had multiple releases under their belt on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, Scuba’s acclaimed Hotflush imprint and have branched out onto the elusive Hypercolour. They first linked with Nervous Records when they played Output Club in Brooklyn in May 2017 at an event that was promoted by Nervous Records founder and label chief Mike Weiss. That meeting lead to discussions about possible remix of one of seminal tunes in Nervous’ legendary house music catalogue. The result matches one of the most prominent names in House Music – Kerri Chandler – with one of the most exciting emerging production teams in techno – Dense + Pika. More

Seminal Mood II Swing production remixed by UK cutting edge Producer Pearson Sound for Nervous Records. One of the most memorable House Music anthems from NYC’s “golden era of house” has been given the 2016 treatment by Pearson Sound. “Learn 2 Luv “ features lead vocals by one of House Music’s greatest voices, Kim English. Originally produced by Mood II Swing in 1997, it quickly became a favourite of legendary producer Francois K, who subsequently added his “Atmospheric Mood” mix to the package. With Nervous Records currently celebrating its 25th year in operation, Pearson Sound went through the catalogue with the idea of putting his distinctive sound to one of these classic NYC house jams. As one third of the team behind the Hessle Audio label, David Kennedy’s Pearson Sound moniker has become synonymous with cutting edge UK dancefloor music. The result of this collaboration between Nervous and Kennedy is his remix of “Learn 2 Luv,” released on 12” vinyl on Dec 9 on Nervous Records. On the flip side is an equally forward thinking remix by Supernova of a classic Nervous release, the Black Moon hip hop anthem “How Many Emcee’s (Must Get Dissed),” re-titiled “Must Get This.” Supernova are an Italian DJ team andproduction duo consisting of “Emijay” Nencioni and Giacomo “G.O.D.I” Godi. They have been a force in house music over the past decade, both through their highly popular remixes and productions and their label Lapsus. Nervous has been unique throughout its 25 lifespan in its ability to release genre – defining music in many different areas of music, including house, hip hop and techno. That openness to new sounds is well represented in this remix, where Supernova has masterfully combined a storming house music track with a vocal from one of NYC’s most famous MC’s, Buckshot of Black Moon. As Mood II Swing, production duo Lem Springsteen and John Ciafone became one of the most in-demand remixers in the late '90s. The duo's production career began modestly, however. After a failed attempt at R&B, the two turned to house music. Early productions such as Sylvano's "Helpless" and Wall of Sound's "Critical" were a step in the right direction, as were releases such as "I Need a Bitch" for Cutting and "Searchin'" for Groove On, but it was the duo's remixes of Ultra Naté's "Free" for Strictly Rhythm that struck gold. The song became a huge hit and soon Mood II Swing was remixing big-name producers like BT ("Remember") and King Britt ("The Reason") as well as the next Ultra Naté single, "Found a Cure," which also became a huge hit record around the world. Then, as a testament to the duo's success, the New York-based Nervous have dug up the remixes Mood II Swing did for the label during their seminal mid 90's period re mastered and re released on wax for 2016. Yet another slept on Wayne Gardiner production from 1992, hand picked from the Nervous Records vaults and fresh for 2015. 2 mixes of "Mellow" take up side A; the "From The Deep" mix is a classy, pacey deep groove, pure heads down NYC business oozing musicality, keys and melodies while the "Ambient Mix" follows with a tougher edged feeling, a taut bass-line and some haunting pads and piano. Both mixes are very different, yet equally engaging and both feature flawless production from Mr.Gardiner. On side B we have 2 mixes of "Love", a subtle vibes led cut punctuated with classic vocal samples peppered throughout telling us we "Got to have it" and that love will "make you stay out all night long", a super deep track indeed with both mixes lending a different feel for the heads and dancers alike! This is the first time "Mellow / Love" has been repressed since it's original 1992 release and this 2015 re-master and re-issue has been done in conjunction with and in full cooperation with Nervous Records, New York City. Strait II DAT aka Ronald Burrell (of Burrell brothers fame) dropped this scorching 4 track EP of Garage House pressure way back in 1993 and here in 2014, it sounds as fresh as ever. "You're In Da House" kicks things off, built from an insistent bass led groove laced with jazzy vibes and horns and a tough edge that just keeps going, a perfect peak time cut! "I Did This 4 Da Shelter" is Ronald's tribute to the long running NYC after hours clubbing institution and is a storming vocal and sax led anthem that keeps it super deep. On side-B "It's 3:00" is the epitome of late night / early morning House music as the title suggests, a bass heavy, melodic track dedicated to the people and the DJ's still going (or just beginning!). "Electric Native" finishes the EP, a darker, tribal vibe permeates the track with percussion and dubbed out vocal chants, this one's a real "heads down" cut, one for the dancers! Kippis, hold on! Cold Blow is proud to announce the 12-inch re-issue of Andy Romano's sought-after Italo disco EP "Every Time Feel Allright"! The EP has been remastered by the legendary Ed DMX, with all-new artwork by Ed Cheverton.

The EP’s titular opening track is a Mike Mareen-esque roller with a playful call-and-response between Andy’s passionate vocals and robotic synthesisers, making it a master class in Italo disco. The instrumental version follows, perfect for those just beginning their personal Italo journey.

On the B-side, we are treated to a slightly more modern twist on the classic style. Starting with L’amour Robotique, a dramatic-romantic instrumental of robotic love, perhaps reminiscent of the classic Spacer Woman by Charlie. The final track Sayonara Robot sweeps us to the Far East with its percussive synth leads, rolling bassline, and vocoder vocals declaring “I am the robot, Sayonara Robot!”

Originally released not in the 80s but in 2010, "Every Time Feel Allright" was part of a wave of releases by the young Andrea Cofrancesco from Rome. After discovering the world of Italo disco, Andrea was instantly mesmerised and became obsessed with emulating the rough, sometimes sloppy, but always unique sound of 80s Italy. Mastering his craft, Andrea went as far as cataloguing specific sounds by year while finding himself most influenced by 1983 and 1985. Through many solo releases, the young producer eventually wrote and produced songs with his idols Fred Ventura and Clay Pedrini, culminating in his success. Today, Andrea works as an illustrator and concept artist, and can be found on Instagram as @andrewcockroach. More

Timmy Regisford’s discography reads like a virtual timeline in the evolution of House. He’s been a central force since the genre first began in shaping the sound and helping it to become the worldwide cultural phenomenon it is today. Recently inspired by the afro-centric musical movements that have become increasing popular, he has gone back into the lab and created a collection of songs that are destined to move the genre once again. Highlights of this essential double pack vinyl collection include “Good Morning,” which is an homage to his legendary Shelter parties that always last deep into the morning hours, “Hamballla” which features an inspired vocal performance from future star Toshi and the memorable “Hotel Cali” amongst many others. John Devecchis AKA The Owl takes flight once again here on his self titled label's 10th outing. Once again it is a head turning mix of disco and funk that carries on where his superb Concrete Funk album from 20121 left off. These are beefy cuts with authentic grooves, starting with the loose limbed playfulness of 'Shake It'. There is a more heavy, purposeful chug to 'Follow Me' which comes alive with lush strings and perfect soul vocals. 'Always Be There' leans into a house groove with noodling guitar riffs a la Chic and 'The Way' is a nice leggy and elastic pumper with expressive diva wails. Super stuff. More

A duo at the heart of Amsterdam’s electronic music scene in more ways than one, Jesse van der Heijden and Oguzhan Guney, aka ANOTR, continue to elevate and evolve as a pairing cultivating and curating new shades of house music.

Having established their own idiosyncratic sound with stand-out productions across a variety of leading labels, the duo’s own imprint, No Art, is their musical home and their primary focus of attention, creating unique live experiences across Europe within extraordinary spaces and venues while delivering a wealth of quality material via their main label and various sub-imprints.

Heading up undeniably one of the most talked about collectives within house music right now, and following on from their sold-out debut festival alongside appearances for Circoloco and Solid Grooves at DC10 and Music On at Pacha in Ibiza, the No Art founders turn their attention to their most significant release to date.

A project which has developed, blossomed, and evolved across two years of meticulous recording, tweaking, and testing, ANOTR now present their debut album and the very first LP on No Art: ‘The Reset’. Created in partnership with the duo’s fanbase, the LP artwork is compiled from images sent in by individuals all over the globe.

The colours represent the spectrum found across No Art ‘Expo’ events and their shared ideas and beliefs with their audience. The project also sees a more organic approach to music creation, with the duo taking trips and immersing themselves within spaces amongst nature and the woodlands outside of Amsterdam while partnering with vocalists and instrumentalists throughout the recording process.

“At the start of the pandemic, with clubs closed and our usual sources of inspiration in the nightlife scene put on hold, we started searching for inspiration closer to our hearts. This exploration led to us creating and curating a mix of the music we normally played in our sets with the music we grew up with and listened to across disco, funk, jazz, and indie. Working together with vocalists, instrumentalists, and musicians, we have shaped a more organic approach to creating music with an emphasis on the interaction between artists, creatives and our fans which formed the foundation of our album.” - ANOTR.

Opening via the sun-drenched ‘Make Art Not €’, the twelve-track LP is a showcase and collage of the duo’s kaleidoscopic sound palette, conveying and constructing early memories and influences into a rich body of work. The classy ‘Your Mind’ is the first of multiple collaborations with close friend, vocalist, and musician Abel Balder found across the project, with the Amsterdam native injecting a slice of funk while lending his captivating vocals to proceedings to set the tone early.

Tracks such as ‘Amplia’ and ‘Canvas’ offer instrumental interludes and absorbing journeys through vibrant disco-tinged spheres, while ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ and ‘Mirror Society’ showcase their deep-lying love and passion for funk, jazz, and soul. ‘Time To Smoke’ is a masterclass in suspense, tension, and melody creation, partnering with fellow Dutchman Sebastian Kamae on keys to offer up a scintillating slice of house music fusing old and new in a typically unique manner, before transporting into the smoky blues vibes of ‘Flying Cars’ - led and carried by an effortless series of thrilling guitar solos.

The now iconic ‘Vertigo’ alongside Abel then makes an impactful appearance as the trio launch towards peak time territories, harnessing the energy found within their live shows and crafting one of the tracks of the summer.

Not slowing down, ‘The Great Reset’ is another example of the duo at their playful yet dynamic best, entering further slick guitar riffs and vibrant melodies into the fray, before closing with the euphoric and moving ‘Relax My Eyes’ - guided by enchanting strings, sumptuous keys, captivating basslines and Balder’s enticing vocals for a closing production set to soundtrack many emotional dancefloor moments.
