We are delighted to offer a very limited hand-stamped repress of Black Loops’ debut EP, 7 Hills on FreerangeThe Italian producer who splits his time between Berlin and his native country has had a solid few years rising through the house music ranks through releases on respected labels such as Shall Not Fade, Pets, Toytonics, Aterral, Gruuv & Neovinyl.His broad-ranging influences taking in funk, soul, disco and 90’s NY house inform a depth, warmth and musicality to his productions which has seen him in demand DJing around the world and makes him an obvious fit for us here on Freerange.This EP, produced almost exclusively during an extended tour in Australia opens with title track 7Hills, the area where he stayed and worked on this release. The trademark Black Loops swinging groove, smooth Rhodes stabs/ keys licks courtesy of Nikos Haropoulos and a deep, rolling bassline all come together to form the perfect warm up track - uplifting, understate and with a subtle sense of anticipation.Next up we have Parisian producer Mad Rey getting stuck into 7Hills for a raw, bumping interpretation which jacks things up a notch taking it into heavier peak-time territory. Mad Rey has been responsible for some brilliant releases on French label D.Ko, Rekids and most recently Mamie’s Records and alongside label mates Flabaire and Paul Cut he has helped reestablish Paris as a hotbed of fresh, musical talent.Flipping over we have two more Black Loops originals. King Paul takes an old soul vocal sample and works it to great effect over crisp 909 beats and sun-soaked keys whilst a vinyl-only bonus track Linda38 treads a similar path but with a punchier groove and warm pads rounding off this EP in fine style. Time to welcome Black Loops back once again for his third release on Freerange. Riccardo continues to impress with a consistent and evolving output on labels such as Shall Not Fade, Atteral, Gallery and Madhouse, his warm, bouncing beats and basslines working their magic in a broad cross-section of DJ’s sets the last decade or so. Here on These Changes he teams up with young London producer and vocalist Cody Currie, known for his releases on Classic, Razor n Tape and Toy Tonics. These Changes is an uptempo, shuffling house track with a deep, rolling mood which doffs the cap to classic NYC sounds but with a distinct contemporary spin. The People treads a similar path with a repeating vocal hook and snipped and chopped jazz fusion sample adding the ear candy whilst punchy beats and echoing synths keep the floor bouncing. Think Charles Webster meets Joshua Iz on Guidance in the late 90’s and you’ll get the idea. Closing out this sublime release we have Driver which puts all the focus on a simple, compelling bassline pushing the groove along and creating a deep, emotive late night mood to move to. More

After a wafting deep house collab with fellow Italian Berlin resident Ruff Stuff, Black Loops (Ricardo Paffetti) brings Shall Not Fade a third EP of rolling, danceable house of the highest calibre. Paffetti has built a reputation as a creative, high-class producer and does not disappoint on "Circulation EP" - the Shall Not Fade regular makes tribute to classic Italian house while adding a futuristic, unique spin.

The 5-tracker opens with "Mike The Dog". It's a crazy electro-garage hybrid that foregrounds frenetic drum loops, while soft lofi chords give way to a disco-like bassline, starting the record off lightheartedly. Title track "Circulation" hits with a syncopated kick and dubbed out vocals that swirl in your head, contrasting a smooth, darker sound design made for sunset dancing.

Paffetti perfects a meticulous sound palette across the B-side. From "Banana 20", a pacey track lead by its squelching bassline, to "Dream2gether" - gliding lead synth, trading spotlights with the echoed vocal - these are love songs for the dancefloor. The EP closes out to "Danse sur L'Hardcore", a pumping beast of a house track studded with sparkling chord stabs and g-funk synth trills. More

Founded in 1992, Kerri Chandler’s Madhouse Records has been flying the flag within electronic music as a one of the industry’s most well respected and quintessential imprints for over 25 years, delivering quality productions from leading names across the complete house sphere. Having welcomed Detroit Swindle, Peggy Gou, Josh Butler and Jimpster to remix Chandler in their first ‘Remixed’ instalment, released in early 2018, here we see the imprint revisit the label founder’s iconic discography once again as four new names rework a fresh selection of both solo and collaborative cuts, with Henrik Schwarz, D’Julz, KETTAMA and Marquis Hawkes combining to deliver Vol. 2 this October.Up first, Henrik Schwarz’s take on Chandler and Jerome Sydenham’s 1999 cut ‘Powder’ builds upon the original production’s slick drum work with rich, jazz-tinged chords to reveal an elegant and stylish slice of house music, whilst D’Julz’s groove-heavy remix of ‘Peace Of Mind’ fuses dubby pads and skipping organic drums packed full of swing as the Parisian turns in yet another must-have effort. Next, KETTAMA’s bustling ‘Garage Remix’ of Kerri and Lafayette’s ‘Better Late Than Ever’ takes cues from its title as the Irish talent hones in on a snaking, driving bassline accented by classic soulful vocal hooks, before rounding out proceedings in style through Marquis Hawkes ‘Classic Club Vocal’ remix of Kerri Chandler and Jiletta Riley’s ‘The Way It Was’, unveiling a sun-soaked and infectious final cut that pays homage to Chandler’s trademark New Jersey palette in ever-impressing fashion. Berlin-based producer and DJ Kevin Over has been on the rise over the past few years with a steady stream of output on the likes of Gerd’s 4Lux, Dj Steaw’s House Puff and of course Madhouse where he returns to here following last years ‘Where To Begin’ EP.
The original mix of ‘Penthouse Boogie’ opens with jangling metallic percussion, thunderous sub tones and dusty drums driving the groove whilst an amalgamation of choppy chords and stabs ebb and flow amongst hypnotic pads, hooky vocals and jazzy marimba tones.
Seven Davis Jr’s remix of 'Penthouse Boogie' follows, taking a more raw and stripped-back approach with a gritty drum groove, skippy hats at the forefront whilst easing in the original’s vocal chant, resonant pad swells, wandering marimba tones and a fresh, bumpy bass line.
Title-track 'Lavender' then rounds out the package on a Garage tip with swinging broken drums, hooky vocal phrases, murky bass tones and organ stabs.

The past few years have seen Berlin’s Frag Maddin release material on Waze & Odyssey’s W&O Street Tracks, Rough Recordings and Egg London’s What Came First as well as offering up a remix on Roog & Dennis Quin’s EP for Madhouse where her returns to here for a full EP featuring remixes from fellow Berlin based acts Black Loops and Kevin Over. Taking the lead on the package is ‘The Zauberflo¨te’ with it’s skippy hi-hats, hooky organ licks, hypnotic Rhodes melodies and vocal cuts all further fuelled by a snaking sub-bass groove to create a slice of authentic house for one of the leading labels of the genre. Black Loops turns in a remix of ‘The Zauberflo¨te’ next, stripping things back to a deeper, more refined feel with spiraling, filtered elements of the original wandering around swinging 909 drums to create a groove-drive counterpart to the original. ‘Focus’ opens the latter half of the package, the second original from Frag Maddin which employs chugging square wave bass tones and dynamically evolving drums alongside tension building strings and choppy stabs before Keving Over closes the package with his gritty take on ‘Focus’, featuring crunchy drums, dusty chords and cleverly arranged string and key samples. Demuja joins the Madhouse roster this March with ‘Come To Me’, a four track EP featuring French/Australian singer Ladybird and a Folamour remix of the title track. After various releases on the likes of Nervous Records, RTCT Records, and his own label MUJA, Austria’s Bernhard Weiss aka Demuja joins Madhouse with some fresh material following last year’s output on House Puff and Freerange. The release opens with title track ‘Come To Me’, a rough and ready Lo-Fi number featuring a soulful sample, and blissful stabs of horns and strings. Following is the Folamour’s ‘Lost In Eden’ remix, twisting the original into a Balearic, sun-drenched vibe, contrasting the original and bringing a more funk-infused, melodious feel to things. Up next is the second original on the release ‘Take’ which employs classic house tropes with a nod to the 90s via catchy horns and a New Jersey Garage/House beat. ‘Free Me feat Ladybird’ then closes the package, taking you on a silky smooth house journey, with Ladybirds dazzling vocals taking center stage. Heist Recordings helming duo Detroit Swindle continue to establish themselves with regular bookings across the world whilst Josh Butler has become a revered name in house music with releases on Defected, Kaoz Theory, and his own imprint Origins Records, Peggy Gou has become a highly in-demand artist with her productions being picked up by Radio Slave’s seminal imprint Rekids and Jimpster’s twenty-year career has seen the release of three LP’s and a plethora of singles on his very own Freerange Records. Madhouse number 2 sees Kerri dropping his 4 track 'Panic EP' on us, released in 1992 the whole record sounds amazing today - As fresh as ever! Driving, funky, stripped back and with that trademark KC drum programming 'Get On Up' kicks things off with an intoxicating mix of all the above and some loopy, dubbed out sax.. this one is pure heads down late night business! 'Insomnia Again' utilises some choice samples the eagle eared among you will no doubt spot, paired with epic piano stabs and a cavernous kick-drum, slamming! Flip the record over for 'Something Wrong', a solid grooving, gospel-esque monster that hits hard, classic! Finishing out the EP is the amazing 'Love Is Over', undoubtedly inspired by the Garage and Zanzibar with it's nod to some classic cult killer Disco jams that form the basis of the track, looping, raw and moving hard, one for the heads! Luigi Giomini and Massimiliano Miele aka Marsupials have come a long way since their debut on Seven Music in late 2014, delivering a string of original content since via the likes of Large Music Scucci Manucci, Dabit, and Black Key Records. Here, the duo push on by joining the roster of Kerri Chandler's Madhouse Records yet another substantial step forward for the rising duo. Grampa’s ‘I Loved You’ opens with its balearic piano lines, bumpy bass stabs and hooky vocals setting the tone perfectly before Bobcat Trades’ ‘Summer Rain’ edges things over to more organic sounds with snaking natural bass licks, shuffled snares and freeform jazz sax across its five minute duration. Krista FA’s ‘Why You Wanna’ takes things soulful next, with emotive vocal stylings, hooky sub hits and a classic rhythmic swing the label has become known for.
