BNJMN returns to Bright Sounds with Sensei; following on from the foundations laid by his "Final Network" EP released in the spring of 2018 he again showcases the melodic, yet hypnotic and pulsating side of his sound that he has become renowned for.
Starting with the almost house-like "Soared Above" synths fly over syncopated rhythms which build and then descend into something harsher and earthier.
"Intercellular" goes somewhat harder, yet still retaining the hypnotism and lightness of touch which will suit most hours in the club.
The title track is an exercise in restraint, one for the early hours when everything blurrs and only the space in between the sounds carry you along.
"Walking Into Yourself" showcases the dreamiest side of BNJMN, in slowing down the BPM the producer shows the intricate details of his sound, letting the listener in on a dense forestlike journey.

Since its launch in 2013, Bright Sounds has established itself as a label bridging the gap between the dancefloor and more experimental sounds, releasing EPs by the likes of Shlomo, Tilliander, Burnt Friedman or more recently Conforce. On its eleventh release, the label welcomes Ben Thomas aka BNJMN with 'Final Network EP', the UK producer based in Berlin and releasing on Tresor, Delsin, Counterchange or more recently on his newly founded imprint: Tiercel. The EP opens up with 'Reticuli', an ambient techno journey into a forest of otherworldly sounds. 'Neurocity' comes next with its rattling sounds met by disorienting and spooky melodies. On the B-Side 'Cloaked' starts off with bare kick and congos before waves of
drones add textures producing an eerie atmosphere. The title track closes this EP, slowly building to create an ecstatic floating mood, leaving you longing for more as it gently fades away.

French label Bright Sounds welcomes prolific Dutch artist Boris Bunnik for a new EP under his most celebrated alias, Conforce. The regular Delsin artist saves this project for his more dance floor driven work and that is the case across all four of the atmospheric tracks here. 'Virtue Signalling' is slick techno that mixes up sci-fi sounds with cavernous dub pads. It's cerebral and cinematic as well as being driven by the rubbery drums. 'Black Mesa' is darker, with a meaning synth line coming in spurts over punchy, broken drums. It's grand in architecture but still has plenty of rich sonic details. On the flipside, 'Compulsion' is more watery, with little life forms suspended in a backlit ocean above slippery drums, then 'Alka' is another underwater affair, with beams of light penetrating from above as a dubbed out groove undulates way down deep. Once again then here, Conforce marries form with function in exquisite ways.

Following on from March's Shlømo remix package featuring Donato Dozzy, Bambounou, Shlømo and label boss Kennedy Smith, Bright Sound's second release of 2016 will new a brand new EP from Sweden's Andreas Tilliander. With his releases on his own Repeatle imprint and his TM404 alias's hardware-driven techno featuring on Skudge White and Kontra-Musik, Tilliander is among Sweden's most versatile talents working right now. His arrival on Bright Sounds is of a piece with BSRX 004, last year's reissue of fellow Swede Henrik Johansson's 1997 EP as Smyglyssna. As with Johansson's record, Tilliander's Stettin Libau EP explores slower tempo techno, locating the moments of space and energy in between its rhythmic structures. This search is most keenly observed in 'Knapp Ledsyn', with its ever-shifting sonic landscape melting away at various points to reveal its unusual, skeletal beats and hidden melodic details, while the EP title track and 'Nybliven Lots' apply that approach to what might at first be a traditional dub techno template, yet still offering further small moments of off-beat character. Completing the release is a 'Detox Operation' remix of 'Knapp Ledsyn' from Nonplace Records chief Burnt Friedman, in which the German veteran strips things down to a gentle patter of drums overlaid with suggestive flashes of the original's rich atmospheric elements.
