Returning to his home base, Rotterdam based electro-techno mainstay Conforce presents a heavy pack of angular, experimental approaches on his latest offering into the Delsin databank. Boris Bunnik's accomplished machine language has traversed deep and dubby soundscapes with punchy, club-focused fare alike, since 2010's Grace EP he has found a regular home on Delsin and it's always exciting to see what he comes up with next. Where Conforce has commonly housed Bunnik's more melancholic, introspective work, the sound palette on Sins Of Synthesis is more tipped towards darker dimensions. The shadow of braindance looms large, guiding the music towards twitchy pattern manipulation, alien textural design and dissonant harmonics. Bunnik's signature sense of melody can still be detected around the edges, from the distant, hazy pads of 'Charlatan' to the lingering chimes of 'Fragile', but this is a pointed new direction for Conforce and it's leading somewhere very interesting... Known for his more elegant and subtle atmospheric techno music though, Conforce is never afraid of deviating from his safe zone. Sometimes a change of environment can bring new musical influences and shine new light on existing musical projects. There is a small narrative about this release. Prolific Dutch artist Conforce is back with another LP on Delsin Records. This one marks something of a subtle evolution in his sound in that it returns to a more organic and immersive aesthetic. Made using various bits of outboard gear, it fuses dub rhythm with ambient detail and propulsive 4/4 kick drums to make for absorbing listening. Once again, then, this album proves no one does deep electronic music as well as Conforce.

Stepping up for the second release on his own Transcendent label, the unstoppable Conforce offers up four more tracks of studiously deep and moving music that is as filmic as it is atmospheric. His Travelogue EP features four cuts that continue ion the Dutchman's fine tradition of fusing moods and grooves in submerged and aqueous ways. Up first is 'Phase7', with little sounds scurrying across dollops of thick bass synth. Eventually a deep and subliminal rhythm emerges to float you through the deep abyss and little rays of light shine though to light the way. 'Informatica' is laced up with nervy, edgy pads and distant siren sounds as well as hunched percussion and ambient soundscaping. It's heady and physical at the same time and really comes from another sound world entirely. On the flip, 'Coast to Coast' has more human charm and melody to it but still wallows in the deepest oceans, with supple and subtle rhythms and tons of detail all fizzing abo ut and firing your every synapse. Finally, Zero Eight Five toys with spangled synth lines, feint percussive impressions and lots of gloopy bass to transfix you in a hypnotic headspace. Once again with this EP, Conforce proves he is a master of the deep.

BNJMN returns to Bright Sounds with Sensei; following on from the foundations laid by his "Final Network" EP released in the spring of 2018 he again showcases the melodic, yet hypnotic and pulsating side of his sound that he has become renowned for.
Starting with the almost house-like "Soared Above" synths fly over syncopated rhythms which build and then descend into something harsher and earthier.
"Intercellular" goes somewhat harder, yet still retaining the hypnotism and lightness of touch which will suit most hours in the club.
The title track is an exercise in restraint, one for the early hours when everything blurrs and only the space in between the sounds carry you along.
"Walking Into Yourself" showcases the dreamiest side of BNJMN, in slowing down the BPM the producer shows the intricate details of his sound, letting the listener in on a dense forestlike journey. More

Since its launch in 2013, Bright Sounds has established itself as a label bridging the gap between the dancefloor and more experimental sounds, releasing EPs by the likes of Shlomo, Tilliander, Burnt Friedman or more recently Conforce. On its eleventh release, the label welcomes Ben Thomas aka BNJMN with 'Final Network EP', the UK producer based in Berlin and releasing on Tresor, Delsin, Counterchange or more recently on his newly founded imprint: Tiercel. The EP opens up with 'Reticuli', an ambient techno journey into a forest of otherworldly sounds. 'Neurocity' comes next with its rattling sounds met by disorienting and spooky melodies. On the B-Side 'Cloaked' starts off with bare kick and congos before waves of
drones add textures producing an eerie atmosphere. The title track closes this EP, slowly building to create an ecstatic floating mood, leaving you longing for more as it gently fades away. More

Following on from March's Shlømo remix package featuring Donato Dozzy, Bambounou, Shlømo and label boss Kennedy Smith, Bright Sound's second release of 2016 will new a brand new EP from Sweden's Andreas Tilliander. With his releases on his own Repeatle imprint and his TM404 alias's hardware-driven techno featuring on Skudge White and Kontra-Musik, Tilliander is among Sweden's most versatile talents working right now. His arrival on Bright Sounds is of a piece with BSRX 004, last year's reissue of fellow Swede Henrik Johansson's 1997 EP as Smyglyssna. As with Johansson's record, Tilliander's Stettin Libau EP explores slower tempo techno, locating the moments of space and energy in between its rhythmic structures. This search is most keenly observed in 'Knapp Ledsyn', with its ever-shifting sonic landscape melting away at various points to reveal its unusual, skeletal beats and hidden melodic details, while the EP title track and 'Nybliven Lots' apply that approach to what might at first be a traditional dub techno template, yet still offering further small moments of off-beat character. Completing the release is a 'Detox Operation' remix of 'Knapp Ledsyn' from Nonplace Records chief Burnt Friedman, in which the German veteran strips things down to a gentle patter of drums overlaid with suggestive flashes of the original's rich atmospheric elements.
