The Godfather of the Montreal disco Robert Ouimet was a resident DJ at The Limelight between 1973 to 1981.
Basically this man got history!
After a fine release on Basic Fingers last year he now got two funk-disco edits for GAMM.
On the A side Robert takes on a classic, Yellow Sunshine by Yellow Sunshine (translated in French on the release) which was a well established b-boy anthem as well as a classic cut for DJs like Danny Krivit and David Mancuso.
On the B, we find another obscure funk-disco jam packed with soulful vocals, moog synths and big disco breakdowns.

Whether or not they are actual twins, Shiho and Yuhiro do create magic on their Basic Fingers debut.

Both of them have made edits and reworks for quite some time and the idea of combining their crate digging skills with their love for edits is nothing short of brilliance.

On the A side, the Twins goes all in with 'Magic Theme', a driving percussive, exploding latin groove that's relentless in its dance floor and chin stroking pleasures.
It's heavy on rhodes and jazz funk solos, a jazz dance bomb for the peaktime hours, what's not to like?

The Patchouli Brothers first began throwing parties in an Albanian dive bar in Toronto's east end, but have gone on to grace the stage at a spectrum of the city's establishments. They hold down a residency at a rotating disco jam called Beam Me Up which, while held monthly at the Piston, has taken place in a film studio, an artist commune, above a furniture store and inside the Great Hall. Basic Fingers is back and welcomes Philou Louzolo to the label, who delivers two blistering edits and one original track for the label's twenty ninth release. First up is 'Lumumba's Revenge', an original cut, produced and arranged by Philou Louzolo himself, creating an intoxicating mood to start off the release. Next up is 'Tartit's Tribe', an edit of an original desert song from the Tombouctou region of Mali. As if that wasn't enough to set the juices flowing, Philou ends the release on the flip with 'Fadimata's Dibabba', a track built around exotic melodies, chanted vocals and chunky percussion.

Alma Negra is a Swiss collective that consists of four musically driven friends, the Figuiera Brothers Dersu & Diego whose roots are established firmly in their Cape Verdian heritage, Dario with his half and half Portuguese/Italian mix and finally Mario with Spanish roots.
