Sofatalk & XL Regular have come up with a wonderful jazzy EP for Outplay. Filled with warm chords and broken
house beats.
Italy’s Piero Paolinelli and Alessandro Giacchi are the newest addition to our Outplay family. They have released
music previously on Omena, ANMA, Cognitiva Records (Sofatalk’s own label), INI Movement, Nómada and
Monologues. Their EP for Outplay is called Afro Quarters EP and contains 4 electronic jazzfunk infused house
tracks and make for a perfect testimony of their musicianship.
Rumble Strip kicks off with broken beats turning into a 4x4 house beat filled with percussion, dreamy keyboard
licks and sultry vocals to underline the floaty vibe.
The title track, Afro Quarters, is up next pushing us further into their signature jazz infused broken beat house
style. With the funky bassline and the stabby keys it’s hard not to move. Throw in tastefully done flute and
Rhodes solos for the mature sound they’re known for.
The third piece is called Easy and contrary to its name it’s not as chilled out as you’d think. It’s incredibly groovy,
with heavy staccato bass and keys, while keeping the dreamed out jazzy chords to balance it out. It makes us
think of the masterful work of Kaidi Tatham.
“On The Run” concludes the EP and continues the vibe displayed throughout the release filled with arpeggiated
and stabby keys and vocal bits.
It’s our absolute pleasure to be able release this and we are excited to share it with you!

After a long hiatus there finally is a new Junktion EP release on Outplay. As "Wide Awake EP" was released way back 2016 it was a long time coming!
The A-side consists of two amped up disco house treatments with "Just A Disco Thing" and "Real To Me": stomping kicks and heavy basses together with disco goodness. While on the other side a more introspective aspect of Junktion comes to light in the form of the understated funkiness of "I Got Somebody" and dreamy melodies in "Tribute".
As Junktion himself says: "We've been playing most of these tracks while touring as Fouk to great effect and it feels so good to get these out there on this release! They're a tribute to the scene and everybody who has supported my music."

We're pleased to introduce you to mysterious Clive From Accounts; number cruncher extraordinaire by day, totally f'ing awesome music producer by night.
No seriously, we're amped that we are able to release this EP by the self proclaimed "regional tiddlywinks champion" and "all-round beige sky thinker" Clive.
Who says office workers are drones? Loitering around the coffee machine surely has had no bad effect on his creative juices!
When we got an email from Clive with a demo called 'Bisou' we were blown away. Production quality was top notch and it really stood out from what came in our inbox.
So over the course of a year we asked him to fill out an EP next to his busy work schedule. The end result is a record with three very strong tracks, each with its own character.
'Keep Movin' is perfect for big dance floors and filthy sweaty clubs and 'The Trouble With Clive' has that beefy garage thing going on.
With a name like 'Bisou' you'd expect something kissy kissy, but it's a floaty warm, stabby breaks affair with nods to the classic deep sound.

Ahhh, we need you to go ahead and buy this stunner on limited edition wax. So um, yeah if you could do that, that'd be great. Oh, and next Friday is Hawaiian shirt day.

The new Outplay release is by young and upcoming dj/producer Cleanfield, or 'Jelle' as his mom calls him.
Hailing from Arnhem, the Netherlands, it's always great to see another talent pop up in the Dutch scene!
He has made three super catchy tracks for us, perfect for the summer season!
First up is the title track 'Haute Cuisine', warm bouncy bass topped with a super infectious lead melody and percussion. If there is a track more suited for the festival season it's this one for sure!
'Hot Wheels' races on with a deep rolling groove, fuelled by wah wah rhythm guitars, warm synth chords and arpeggios.
'Conflict With Clayton' brings another solid groove to the table with scattered vocal samples and multiple synth layers. Scorcher!

After their Butterfunk EP from last year, Fouk are back again with their new offering 'Mating Call EP'.
As the name suggests, this three track EP is made for the hot & heavy moments while dancing away, during those infinite summer days.
The title track 'Mating Call' is a funky beast, driven by a very infectious bassline and live instrumentation, edging the line between disco and house, as has we have come to expect from the duo.
The next track on the flip furthers the fact that this release is all about the groove. Housey vibes with a classic hint, Rhodes floating on a solid rolling funk bass. 'Just Feel Good'? Yup!
Finally we come to 'Down Below'.
You might wonder "what's down below?". Well, there you can find a dreamy thumper, driven by the compact kick, repeating drone and deep bassline, while the synth pads in the middle tie it all together.

For the first release of 2018 we welcome Harry Wolfman to the Outplay family! Having followed his work for the last couple of years we're very happy to have him deliver this varied 4-tracker, which very well might be some of his best work to date. The A side starts off with 'Hitch'. A warm and dusty groover driven by rhodes, a rubbery bassline and a thudding kick. A lovely string piece in the middle of the track slowly builds up to the break for it to return to the head nodding groove soon after. The added percussion gives it a nice lively feel as well. 'Pigs in Blankets' sets the pace a little slower, but the funk goes on. The track incorporates 80's style samples with some excellent synth and chord work. Perfect for a warm up session. Starting on the B side Harry takes it up a notch with 'Nemoto', which will be a definite stomper for the dance floor. It takes you on a 9 minute journey of rolling bumpy basslines, screaming distortion leads and hypnotising synth work.
Finally, to ease things off, STS-136 (Final Call) comes in at a slow 88 bpm pace as a perfect closure to the EP. Dreamy pads, piano licks and a calming marimba melody combined with a beat which feels like a warm blanket will make you wander off for a moment...

The return of master Loz to Outplay! After releasing strong stuff on labels like Razor-n-Tape, Quintessentials and Quartet Series plus some recent remix action on Melbourne's Kyoku, monsieur Goddard has made a new EP for us as a perfect follow up to his 2015 Loose Jams! He presents a wonderful EP of three varied tracks, showcasing his prowess in combining synths and sampled bits. First up is uptempo discofied 'Hazy', which builds well on the sound he's become known for. Hot off the back of "On Top" that featured on our "Deep Love 2017" compilation, Lorenz Rhode returns to the label with his debut full length EP "Risa". A gifted musician, known for his fierce take on funk, performance prowess on German TV show "NEO Magazin Royale" and as part of Detroit Swindle's live outfit, he's sent us a three-tracker packed full of vibe and musicality.

Opening the A-side "And I Said" is an uplifting, funked-up house jam. Exuberant and alive it's built around a Rhodes riff with a romantic twist, swelling stabs and straight forward percussion direct from Lorenz' collection of Roland machines. The following "Risa" is loaded with energy. A gritty analogue snare and raw drums punch as central synth lines and rippling arps ramp up the intensity to bursting.

On the B1 the mysterious Amsterdam based K.98 returns with his second ever remix! After the huge success of the "Thrilogy" remix for WOLF Music in 2015, we are extremely happy to see Lorenz' original turned into a blasting 909 frenzy, 100% guaranteed dance floor action on this one!

Closing we have "Xpandau", a feel-good indie/disco gem reminiscent of Lindstrøm and Röyksopp. The central lead that sounds like something sampled from a dusty African guitar recording, actually came from a vintage Oberheim Lorenz recently fell in love with. Warbling key melodies dance over the top along with tuned percussion, maintaining the light hearted, tropical tinged tone to the end.

Toy Tonics presents a new producer team: Sound Support consists of two enthusiastic synth and house aficionados that everybody knows (in the scene): Lars Dales from Dam Swindle and Lorenz Rhode (keyboard wizard and producer genius).
Together they are doing extremely groovy, jazz infected dance music that connects the good things of 1990ies house with the indie disco of the 2000s.

Lars Dales & Lorenz Rhode connected through their mutual love for all things musically unusual. After years of having worked together on several projects, such as the Dam Swindle live show, they finally got around to making music together. The result has been nothing less than an avalanche of tracks, mostly made in 4 day coffee fueled studio sessions in Lorenz’ studio in Cologne. All reminding the big funk house tracks of the early 2000s. Yes a lot of Daft Punk is here, A lot of NYC disco influences. Larry Levan and Laurent Garnier, DJ Harvey and Masters at Work.. all influences on this record.

After their first two Sound Support EP’s on Prins Thomas’ label, Internasjonal, they’ve ventured out to House of Disco and other labels with a wide array of immensely enjoyable synth heavy tracks. 2023 sees these two venture more into house territory with releases on AUS music and Toy Tonics, two labels that have cemented themselves deeply into the underground scene. In any case, it’s clear that Sound Support have found its signature sound and there is much more of that to look forward to. Toy Tonics is the key label for the wildstyle house scene and Sound Support fit perfectly. Welcome!

This is already our seventh Deep Love compilation and we dare to say our most complete yet in sound and flow. The ten pieces on this sampler blend in perfectly with that laid back “late” summer mood. We are very pleased to welcome yet again some new acts to Dirt Crew with the likes of “Jaxx Madicine”, “Ouer”, “Times are Ruff” and “S3A”. We cross many borders not only in genres but also country wise. From the heavy Disco sampled jam by French producer “S3A” to the Jazz and Funk laden epos of the Italian 3 piece “Jaxx Madicine” over to the Dutch deep house boys “Times Are Ruff” who are well known from their, same named, label and finally to the Berlin duo “Ouer” who also run an own label and released with our good friends at “Heist Recordings”, delivering an ecstatic electronic floating tune here.

This is all completed by some excellence from long time Dirt Crew artists. “25 Places” have been with us for many years now and their two Ep’s have gotten so much love from the deeper deep house community. Here they drop an epic almost IDM techno like tune that closes this great album in the best possible way. Our Icelandic stall wart “Felix Leifur” drops a heavy hitter named “Buster”. After his recent “Bobby Donny” Ep earlier this year we are thrilled to have him back on Dirt Crew! “Harry Wolfman” and “Ponty Mython” need no introduction really, they are adding Electro/ Disco/ Electronica fuelled cuts that form a great middle part to this mix of tunes. Harry going in very smooth and relaxed, something else than his usual House workout which we really loved to present to you. “Ponty Mython” drops an irresistible “good times” indie acid track in his unique “free” style.

Last, we must of course not forget “Dan Only” and key wizzard “Lorenz Rhode”! With another beautifully smooth cut “Dan Only” follows up on his latest debut Ep with us. Again a smart cross over in Techno and House with a distinct relaxed groove and atmosphere to it. Lorenz is back “On Top” here after his super successful first offering to the Deep Love series last year and his “And I Said” EP which stormed many charts. In the middle of touring and working with Detroit Swindle on their “High Life” album we are super happy that he found the time to make another gem with that raw n funky live feel to it... We couldn’t have started this compilation off with a better joint than “Marakuja”.

In 2004 we started our little label and had no idea it would take these proportions. This year we celebrate our 10th anniversary. After many years of changing music styles and hypes we are very happy to be stronger as ever and still up and running with a monthly output. The best thing about all this is that Vinyl is back and we over won the Digital vs Vinyl "crisis". We even started or new sub label "S P I E L" last year that focuses on more Indie and Disco orientated music.
With recent big albums from "Tigerskin" and "Detroit Swindle" we are also stepping into the full artist album game which is another big leap for us. This year will see more fine releases from a lot of up and coming young talent like "Nachtbraker", "Schmutz", "Kito Jempere" and most recently "Brame & Hamo". We don't follow trends and are confident that our fan base will follow us into the new styles of these young producers we are about to launch.
To accompany this great event we will be releasing this special anniversary compilation called "Deep Love 10" on CD and Vinyl 12" that features even more exciting new faces to the Dirt Crew Family. Searching for new ways to express himself, Maarten Smeets (one half of Detroit Swindle) has found a new perspective on music in his alter ego “Wanderist”. Here, he shares his unique view on contemporary electronic music with strong influences from dub, electro, techno and ambient in tempo’s that match the intensity, funk and drive of his sound. As Wanderist, he has been writing some of his more abstract work of recent times. His sound is melancholic yet euphoric, using powerful loops and dreamlike melodies to create a dense flow in his compositions. His debut release is signed to Aus music later in 2020 and he has also launched his own label titled ‘Transient Nature’ where his own work will be released along with the work of like-minded artists. With a large catalog of music ready to release and collaborations with various labels planned for 2021, the future is bright for Wanderist.

Who is Mr Flash? The best kept secret of the French Touch? The beat maker who ran with the TTC crew in the 90's? The passionate collector of rare and bizarre records? The producer that was called in to help Sebastien Tellier build his blue musical cult? Mat Chiavaroli, one of your main artists who is getting stronger and stronger, opens this jubilee release with upbuilding powerful tune, just the tune the get Quintessentials 50 started! Great to see profilic dutch producer Nachtbraker (Heist, Quartet Series) on the label too. We love his style and he will soon be as popular as Ajax Amsterdam! His subtle and dirty "Bronco" fits in perfectly. The definitive club tune that grooves and grooves and grooves comes from Ponty Mython (Dirt Crew). Alexandr is a cool guy and this is defo a cool tune. Last but not least is Soul of Hex (Freerange, Vicario). Our mexican friend is going very raw this time. Yes, why not call it electronic body music (remember?)! As we are gentlemen, we added a Quintessentials sticker in the vinyl edition. Go and get it!

Amsterdam natives Maarten Smeets and Lars Dales, aka Dam Swindle, unveil their third long-player with the release of a new track, the first to be shared from the upcoming album, ‘Open’ - out on 30 May 2025 via Heist Recordings.

The new album sees the acclaimed duo dive far beyond the deep sonic waters they’re most known for, exploring lower tempos, synthwave, hip-house, and ambient across fourteen tracks. With a gestation period that traces back several years, ‘Open’ is their most intimate and personal body of work thus far, birthed during a time of self-reflection away from touring and personal transformation as individuals.

“We felt the need to tell a very personal story through our music as a translation of our personal development in the past years. We also wanted to make music without a specific goal in mind; We simply wanted to create. By taking away the grid of dance music and any expectations of what a Dam Swindle song should sound like, the creativity started to flow naturally with songs in many different styles and tempos. While the trademark Dam Swindle four-to-the-floor beats are still ever-present on tracks like ‘The Present Is Always Perfect’, ‘I Need You’, and ‘Is This Love?’, it’s the gentle waves of synths on opener ‘Home’, the contemplative piano chords of ‘Bloom’ featuring Joep Beving, and the lo-fi ambience of ‘It’s Okay, I Can Wait’ that showcase a melancholic, ethereal sensibility previously uncharted by the duo. Collaborations with vocalists such as NYC’s Haile Supreme on ‘Not Enough’ and Neo-soul singer Faye Meana on ‘Girl’ expertly find room in between the dancefloor and home listening sessions, and a clear standout on the LP is the title cut where message-heavy rapped vocals from UK artist Samson ebb and flow amongst iridescent grooves.

Under the helm of Maarten and Lars’ adept A&R, their Heist imprint has become a beloved home for house heads of both schools old and new, platforming some of dance music’s biggest names from Cinthie to DJ Sneak as well as the musical dawnings of artists such as Kassian and Makèz. The Dam Swindle alias has achieved house music royalty-like status across a storied 15-year career that includes two critically lauded full-lengths, collaborations with the likes of Tom Misch and Kerri Chandler, and a globetrotting touring schedule.
