A1.No Matter (Where You Are) A2. Posse Form B1. Insyde B2. Abaraxas II
Shortinfo:
Myth Music, the label run by Lando and Baron Castle (Boiler Room Berlin) returns for their sophomore release, with another 4 track EP from Lando himself sporting no title other than the catalogue number 'MYTH002'.
The record kicks off with 'No Matter (Where Are You Are)', which embodies the primitive hypnotising rhythms that Lando's releases in the last 18 months have been known for. Listeners are then dropped into the deep end, with the dubbed out, subaquatic groove that is 'Posse Form'.
On the other side of the record (and the galaxy) you can find 'Abaraxas II', the new national anthem of utopian Neptune to close out the EP. Preceding this otherworldly communication however, comes the B1 'Insyde', which is somehow the hidden surprise on the record. To best describe this sweaty bassline workout it might be best to just quote DVS1… 'Lando has the funk!'

Tracklist
A1. I Can See It In You A2. Altered Maze B1. Purple Home B2. Purple Home (Will & Ink Remix)
Shortinfo:
Myth Music is a new label formed by Lando (formerly Lando Kal, real name Antaeus Lando Roy) and Baron Castle (Aaron Castle), who also helps run Boiler Room Berlin and Hotflush Recordings. With previous solo releases on Hotflush, Rush Hour & Icee Hot, it felt like the perfect time for Lando to release on his own label.
The debut Myth release from Lando is his first original release this year, and highlights his shift towards the Detroit side of techno. The lead track 'I Can See It In You' is a freaky & cavernous one, which bounces along to a demanding tension. Whereas A2. 'Altered Maze' seems to contrast that as a rolling, deeper number, but without losing the funk that Lando's sets are famous for.
The B-Side 'Purple Home' features Lando's signature work on the 909, along with a remix from the Dutch duo Will & Ink, who turn it into a big room peak time stomper with off-kilter flair.
Early support from DVS1, Alan Fitzpatrick, Deetron, Maya Jane Coles, Skream, Jimmy Edgar, ItaloJohnson, Blond:ish, John Tejada, Norman Nodge, Locked Groove, Ambivalent, Rivet, Nick Höppner, South London Ordnance, Ewan Pearson & Derek Plaslaiko

(Vinyl part 1/2) While "Mistress 12" features completely new electro techno endeavors including "Technic Electric" from DVS1's Fabric 96 mix, the second 12-inch is a re-release of Rother’s Datapunk classic "Back Home" that comes with new vocal-centered interpretations, a never-ending acapella loop and two club edits by DVS1.

DVS1's Mistress imprint acts as a side label to his main label Hush and is focused just as much on house as it is techno and everything in between. Upon first glance, it's pretty evident that these are some fairly austere techno tools for the second edition in his Mistress Special Release - why else rein in Madrid's master mentalist Oscar Mulero for the bleak, tunnel vision of "Drops". Border One (Form & Function/Invites Choice) appears with the chime-driven hypnotism of "Curve" which just so happened to appear on the label head honcho's recent Fabric mix, and Spaniard Maan (more commonly known as Psyk) serves up some rather Robert Hood sounding bleep minimalism on "Doubt".

Following up from an impressive first edition, DVS1's imprint Mistress is devoted to secret weapons of the house and techno variety - plus all sounds in between. Much like the previous edition, it has its sights set on surefire techno tools for the main room. Rotterdam's Benny Rodrigues impresses as always, but with something different than what we're used to on the stripped back dub techno aesthetic of "Duchi Kaal". Fellow Berghain/Panorama Bar resident Steffi hands in a stellar effort on the loopy, trance inducing sorcery of "IE-4" and the legendary Mark Broom (of Pure Plastic and Rue East fame) has got the right credentials to do old-school - and he sure ticks all the right boxes on the classic Chi-town jack of "Drum Jamz 2".

Predictably, DVS1 has grabbed tracks from some serious techno talents for this third volume in Mistress's Special Release series. As a result, the vibe is loopy, pumping and energy-packed throughout, with standouts coming from Adriana Lopez (whose "Last Path" sounds like Surgeon making creepy EBM) and UK veteran Steve Bicknell, who brilliantly ladens a stomping beat with creepy electronics and all manner of psychedelic bleeps ("Space 13"). Elsewhere, Mike Storm brilliantly builds dancefloor intensity via relentless drum machine handclaps on "From The Human Eye To Earth", while Dustin Zahn delivers a decidedly distorted fusion of lo-fi techno and spacey Detroit futurism.

Following a brief hiatus, DVS1's Mistress Recordings label returns with its' first release of 2016. Something To Show You is an expansive, two-part E.P fron Nick Lapien, the Dutch producer who has previously impressed with solo 12" singles under his surname on Bliq and Finale Sessions, along with work as Metropolis and part of Artefakt. There's much to enjoy on this first part, which sees Lapien deliver trippy, late night workouts that sit somewhere between ultra-deep house and Detroit techno. It's an atmospheric formula that works wonderfully, particularly on "Something To Tell You" - where bluesy vocal samples weave their way around a deep, locked-in groove - and the up-tempo bump of tech-house hustler "No Good".

On the second part of his simultaneously released Something To Show You EP series, Nick Lapien moves further towards late night techno territory. This is evident from the very start, with opener "Searching" delivering the perfect blend of layered, undulating rhythms, spacey riffs, and hypnotic, early morning atmospherics. It's there, too, on the cascading deep house synths and freshly baked grooves of "Moon", and "Wild For The Night", whose bold analogue bassline and yearning vocal samples propel the tracks forwards. Lapien heads for deeper territory on the flipside, with the sinewy pianos and locked-in rhythm of soul-flecked closer "It Ain't The Same" providing the headline
