Out of the many artists, both new and established, that Futurepast has welcomed to its family, Spanish producer and DJ Eduardo De La Calle is one that we can definitively call a legend. His vast discography includes many of dance music's most appreciated labels, so we're humbled to present a full EP from him.
His EP "Kardama" emerged as the winter of 2022 bled into 2023, a period where he'd actually been producing more downtempo works, so "Kardama" is his most recent take on techno; a genre he is certainly well-versed in with over 25 years experience.
As a reflective work, De La Calle processes emotions and thoughts with analog methods, reverse delays and pedals on "Kardama". The emotions that he holds close to himself show up in the detail that sits deeper within each track.
"I simply make music with the intention of feeling better" says De La Calle, "it is a therapy for my mind and for my spiritual state. Through a creative process, I feel calm and useful for the world and for myself." More

Eduardo De La Calle - Conforce Remix
Eduardo De La Calle s recent Distortion Theory III EP on Abstract Reasoning was another impressive piece of work from the prolific producer. Now come four diverse remixes of the title track, each with their own unique twist on the warped machinations of the original.
J - Keel kicks off proceedings with a droning, tense interpretation which toughens up the original considerably. Reversed chord stabs pitch up and down as ominous bass bores a steady course through the track s underbelly, with ticking percussive elements ensuring a motorik pulse.
The masterful Roman Fl gel teases out the chime motif of the original and supplements them with muted marimba-esque arpeggios for a soothing, underwater feel. The beats are kept to a succinct minimum, with subtle swathes of strings bringing a majestic, dreamlike tinge to this refined, minimalistic production.
Fellow Spaniard ORBE brings an ambient feel to the hazy, delicate melodics of his mix, with the delayed, warped synth patterns that struggle to be heard and beautiful atmospherics recalling Carl Craig. Moments of distorted pressure seep through and remind us of the buggedout flavour of the original.
Holland s Conforce rounds things off with plump low end throbs and sparse synth pulses reminiscent of Basic Channel, with gently shuffling hi-hats underpinning the murky yet warm textures and broad, heavily reverbed swathes of chord drama.

Eduardo De La Calle has been doing his thing since the early 2000s, but the last couple of years have seen him move into overdrive. Releases on Planet E, Hivern Discs, Nitsa Trax, Turbo Recordings, Gigolo and Darkroom Dubs to name just a few have shown he is both prolific and consistent, and this new four-track collection is just as compelling as his recent output.\\r\\n\\r\\nDistortion Theory III is a whirring hypnotic machine jam that melds shimmering synth snippets to mind-bending FX undulations and throbbing low end. Disorientating and wonky as hell, it\\\'s the sound of a funky computer malfunction somewhere in deep space.\\r\\n\\r\\nLight Tunnel continues the theme, coming across like the dying throes of space station spinning out of control due to excessive amounts of sub bass. It\\\'s a dizzying, disorientating ride.\\r\\n\\r\\nAcid Aaron C (Edit) wastes no time getting down to business with its gurgling, incessant 303 line present from the get-go. Shuffling percussion rubs up against heady female vocal lines and wonky detuned 8-bit synth blips, the undercurrent of the track swelling and calming seemingly at will. \\r\\n\\r\\nThe Dub Math takes things down a notch with hazy sounds and plodding sub bass combining with heavily reverbed vocal incantations which all combine to bring together the vibe referenced in the title.

Eduardo always delivers quality music, but this is a very special record, we can say that "this is a showcase of electronic music". Four tracks with four different styles of electronica: deep and marvelous keys in “Wondrous Punia”, a mastely detroit house lesson in “Knockout Sakshi”, the minimal techno monster in “Great Manojar”, and the psichodelic electronic cult song “Georgeous Shiama”.
Another timeless record for your collection.

A. Phason Jazz
B1. Mr Dewey D
B2. Rhythmic Soundscapes
Key Selling Points
The word 'Icosahedrite' refers to the geometric figure icosahedron, and arises from the idea that the EP is an amalgam of electronic music styles with many other aspects of traditional musical genres, like jazz or blues. Metaphorically, those genres act as the multiple sides of an imaginary icosahedron. Something complex yet solid that sits outside of the conventional emerges as the final result.
A1 "Phason Jazz" - This is a track where conventional jazz structures converge with electronica, and the influences Eduardo gets from Miles Davis and John Coltrane shine themselves. Twisted keyboards patterns mixed with delays and deafening effects form a place to get lost, and eventually repetition becomes hypnotism and turns into an automatic trance.
B1 " Mr Dewey D" - Mr Dewey D is referring again to Miles, and his first and second surnames. This song is much more influenced by Dark Comedy (aka Kenny Larkin) and all the records that he throws out on the french label "Poussez" titled "FunkFaker: Music Saves My Soul" Blues breath tirelessly in this composition where there is not much time for an objective analysis and where everything finally leads to an insane ending.
B2 "Rhythmic Soundscapes " - This track is, I guess, the most conventional part of the EP, Nonetheless, it retains special qualities. Floating pianos with delays are combined with bass sounds that go back and forth, forming a musical piece with techno sensibilities that I hope will give opportunities to the most daring DJs.

“Everything is sound in the material world. You and me, we are vibrations” Sampling, strife and spirituality - three notions that form the basics of Eduardo’s lifestyle. De la Calle is back on Forbidden Colours, again flaunting his connection with El_Txef_A. The release consists of three original cuts. On the A Side at 45 rpm is the energy and freneticism of 'Hobson’s Choice': "Because a person may refuse to accept what is offered, the two options are taking it or taking nothing" On the B side, the sublime 'Paradox of Choice' leads with a strange kick loop and astral synthesizers followed by 'Transportation Forecasting', where a classic 4x4 kick is paired with analog recordings to depict a more colorful setting.

skinnerbox - "Bela Lugosi's Dead
2
skinnerbox - gouge away
Two years we've had to wait for the second in Skinnerbox's Edits series on Silicone Soul's Darkroom Dubs, but as the saying goes... All good things... Having wow'd us with their bravery in taking on Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' on #1 - a track that's still receiving airplay from Gilles Peterson - the German duo turn their attentions from Jazz to Rock, with a brand new brace of respectful reworks. On the A we have Skinnerbox's edit of "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by English post-punk band Bauhaus. The song was the band's first single, released on 6 August 1979 by record label Small Wonder. Often considered the first gothic rock record, many see it as a seminal classic that went on to influence the later Goth scene. The B-side plays host to Skinnerbox's edit of “Gouge Away” by American alternative rock band, Pixies. The original features on their classic album “Doolittle” from ’89, a massive indie success in the UK. The band hugely influenced the grunge scene. Delicate and respectful edits from the duo, that see these two classic tracks expertly tailored for the dancefloor.

After a slew of acclaimed 12" EPs and a string of CD compilations and albums, Darkroom Dubs prepare to cut their first LP to wax, which comes from Portuguese newcomer Pedro Aguiar. Brimful of spectral intensity, Aguiar’s ‘Landscapes and Heartbreaks’ is an uninhibited package of field recordings and otherworldly tones that stay close to the aesthetic Darkroom Dubs fans hold dear and also inaugurate the label’s landmark step into the world of Long Play records. Just as the title suggests, the LP sonically explores the topography of an often- mournful setting and kicks off with the deeply cinematic ‘Western Digital’ before the cold, mechanical character of ‘The Ceremony’ layers bit-crushed textures with metallic, atonal drones. Hypnagogia then sets a rich and busy groove stuttering inside a cloudy cavern before ‘Black Palm’ spreads rich, undulating sweeps over sheets of liquid and delayed percussive knocks that are gently propelled by a low- passed thud. The lucent, minor key tones of ‘Redemption’ are then spread out before the ticking percussion of ‘Sacred Ritual’ patiently ferries the listener toward solace. ‘Helios’ then recalls the work of Keith Kenniff as rubbery, synthetic pops are contrasted against a soft melodic sheet before ‘Fadio Vadio’ rolls out a steady, chugging drum pattern and coarse, granular sweeps. ‘Orizaba’ and ‘Lost In You’ then inject some swooning synth tones, which work to round off a cohesive anthology of emotions that mark the first step for an extremely auspicious talent.

Silicone Soul's Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie have lined up a succession of exciting releases and events to mark ten years since their subterranean parallel project and label, Darkroom Dubs first unleashed its idiosyncratic take on house music. Charged with the purest distillation of the edgy early hours spirit from which house music was originally forged, Darkroom Dubs has become renowned for Silicone Soul's walks on the dark side and for showcasing likeminded producers, drawn to mining the deepest substratas with a freedom to explore in; the ultimate bastion of deep electronic dance music. The culmination is 'A Ten Day Weekend' (A Decade Of Darkroom Dubs) featuring ten exclusive new tracks from Gary Beck, Freska, Jairo Catelo, Of Norway, Ryan Crosson, Jozif, Antonio Olivieri, Simon Garcia, Uner and Silicone Soul. A short video collage of still-startling silent movie surrealism has been produced to mark the tenth anniversary, further underlining their ethos that the deep, the weird and the timelessly cool have been co-existing with organic ferocity over the last decade, now ready to explode into the next ten years, as a higher-profile declaration and direction for Darkroom Dubs.

Busking really is next-level in Berlin, with the acoustic guitar replaced by the laptop, drum machine and Minimoog, all powered by a car battery. It was this thrown together setup that first introduced the world to Skinnerbox as Iftah Gabbai and Olaf Hilgenfeld took their leftfield, jazzy attitude and improvised genre-bridging music to the streets of Berlin for impromptu jam sessions. It wasn't long before Skinnerbox were rocking the floors of Ritter Butzke and Wilde Renate and getting their music pressed to the black gold was surely the next step. Releases on TonKind, Neopren and Bar25 Records followed before the guys were signed to Bpitch Control with their single, Anapol. 2012 saw the release of this follow-up single for the label, God Is Fading and in January of this year the guys lent their remix talents to The Silence Kills by fellow Bpitch artist, Dillon. Today Skinnerbox make their Darkroom Dubs debut with Fertile Invalids. They have described their own music as infusing soul, breaking house, hard-edged techno, jazz and ambient electronica futurism. This three track ep encompasses all of the above and more and proves just what an exciting addition this live act are to the DRD roster.

Darkroom Dubs return after a brief summer hiatus and welcome a debut appearance from a UK based producer who's recent run of releases have seen him become a firm favourite amongst the DJ elite. Renowned for his pulverising, often brutal, but always groove-laden beats, the Bristol based producer's music has become the choice for those who are looking to inject some serious techno funk into their sets. Fresh of the back of his Ten Tigers smash for Oliver Huntemann's Ideal Audio imprint, dubspeeka looks to drop the tempo on his opener for Darkroom Dubs. Even as he delves deeper into his sound bank, our man from the west country still retains the rounded weighty bassline that we've come associate him with. Matched with the poetic echoing vocal and synth pulses Time shows us a different but welcome face of dubspeeka. The other two originals on the package see him plumbing the depths again on Off Switch whilst on The Happy Man his adds some of his trademark beastly bite. Completing the package, label bosses Silicone Soul take on the title track and deliver a rework that befits the label name perfectly.

Silicone Soul's Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie have lined up a succession of exciting releases and events to mark ten years since their subterranean parallel project and label, Darkroom Dubs first unleashed its uniquely idiosyncratic take on house music. The first of the labels celebratory releases comes from Sebo & Madmotormiquel. The duo have been reigning supreme in the deeper download charts over the past few months and their 'Don't Eat' (Katermukke) track was a dancefloor favourite last year. The URSL label bosses recently saw two of their latest productions, 'Everything Will Change' & 'Slow', feature on John Digweed's 'Live In London' 5CD mix on Bedrock. Their 'Don't Wanna Go To' EP features three deep and warmly textured productions. The title track is a creeper with its spoken vocal and popping synth work. 'Take One Step Back' matches smooth rhodes keys with sumptuous acoustic guitar and goosebump-inducing vocal. Final Cut 'Honey Bomb' steps up the tempo and increases the funk. Twisted electric riffs and echoing chimes working brilliantly together to create a dancefloor gem. Feedback: Sasha - "some great tracks thanks!"
