Once again, this 2x12" release is beautifully presented in a raw reverse board sleeve, a tactile nod to Classic's earliest releases. Inside, are deep teal and green GMUND card stock inner sleeves with embossed detailing elevate the package into a collector's item worthy of the music it holds. Record One opens with one of the most revered remixes in house history. Isolee's 'Beau Mot Plage' (Freeform Reform Parts 1 & 2), originally licensed from Germany's Playhouse and lovingly reworked by Freeform Five's Anu Pillai with a live ensemble. It's a sprawling, euphoric journey that helped define Classic's international reach and is still widely regarded as one of the greatest house records ever pressed. Up next is Greenskeepers' off-kilter banger 'Bang in Your Face?', showcasing the quirky, 'G-swing' sound for which James Curd and his crew became known for during their long-standing relationship with the label. On the flip, Pépé Bradock's jaw-dropping rework of Iz & Diz's 'Mouth' takes center stage-a remix composed entirely from human sounds, equal parts sensual and surreal. Universally praised, it's a masterclass in sonic innovation and remains one of the most acclaimed house remixes of all time. The side closes with Markus Nikolai's beloved 'Bushes', The First Re-Creation (Version 1.2) by Classic co founder Derrick Carter-a distinctive and maximalist edit that draws out the Latin horns, strings, and quirky vocals, turning a cult hit into a distinctly 'Classic' anthem. Record Two captures Classic's renewed energy in the 2010s.? Folamour's 'Devoted To U' from his Umami LP is a 10-minute odyssey in groove-warm, progressive, and cinematic, with soaring piano lines and narrative richness. Then comes Crazy P's 'One True Light', shimmering with spacey textures, cosmic energy, and the deep, effortless groove the band has perfected over decades. On Side D, we have Girls of the Internet's lush and emotionally rich 'When U Go', blending soulful vocals with clean, spacious production that balances melancholy with movement. Closing out Volume 2 is Sophie Lloyd's now iconic 'Calling Out', featuring the unstoppable vocal force of Dames Brown. A modern gospel-disco-house anthem, the track glows with raw energy, live instrumentation, and spiritual fire-cementing its place as one of Classic's defining moments of the last decade.

A sublime techno reissue from the vaults of one of London's leading electronic labels of the last 25 years, remastered and re-presented for 2022! Originally released in 1994 on Mr.C's cult UK house and techno label Plink-Plonk and composed and performed by Laggy Panteli and Zeno Messis (aka Megalon) in their London studio, 'Pandora's Box' is a truly unique record. Sleek, futuristic, fathoms deep and wholly original, the music contained on these 2 discs sounds as modern and as vital as it did on it's arrival all of those years ago. Exploring a deeper vein of electronic music, Megalon craft their own sonic landscapes that are undoubtedly inspired by all forms of cerebral electronic music. Ambient, Detroit techno, electro, European electronics and of course the duo's experiences in London's early acid house and rave scene all filter through their lens to bring something brand new to the table. The arrangement, sound design and mix on the album is outstanding, lending a totally visionary and modern feel to the tracks that continues to echo today. 'Pandora's Box' is a record that has existed within the shadows for many years, with a hardcore cult following. The kind of record that one might hear deep into the early hours, at the hands of a seasoned selector or an 'insider' who has the knowledge. It is redolent of a time when innovation, ideas and imagination trumped the run of the mill and the homogenous, which goes a long way in explaining what makes this record so exciting some 25+ years later. A totally essential mid 90's UK techno and electronic classic, as much a treat for the mind as for the body. Lending their exquisite range to a number of modern house essentials, including Sophie Lloyd’s ‘Calling Out’, The Vision featuring Andreya Triana ‘Heaven’ and David Penn’s ‘Nobody’ in recent years, Athena Johnson, Teresa Marbury and LaRae Starr now release ‘What Would You Do?’ on a limited 7” package. Produced by long-time collaborator of the group and fellow Motor City native Amp Fiddler and Mahogani Music regular Andrés, this slick, funk-filled and typically soulful vinyl release features the exceptional original version as well as Lyon house superstar Folamour’s remix, with his signature groove a perfect match for the Dames mesmerising vocal.

"Memphis" were members of the Memphis based group "Home Grown Funk." Home Grown Funk was also known as "Homegrown Syndrome," a controversial name bestowed to them. Before heading to LA they gigged all over Memphis. Some of the members were from an earlier 70s group called "Brothers Unlimited" and had earlier ties during the 60s with the "Memphis Invaders" (a peaceful civil rights activist group). With aspirations of pushing Homegrown further, a few members including Jerry Jones made the move out west. It was LA 1977 when they were introduced to Ike Tuner through a mutual friend "Ricky G". It was a casual meetup. Then one night Ike had his son Ike Jr. go check them out while performing at the Soul Train hangout spot "Maverick Flats". Ike Jr. praised their performance to Ike and he had them come out to his Inglewood studio. The group walked into the studio with a funky track already playing and that's when Jerry Jones improvised this opportunity and started singing. Ike then turned and said… "Who is that singing?" Jerry said, "Thats me." Then Ike replied " YOU BIG MUTHAF***A! You could be my new Tina." From that point the group cut bunch of tracks with Ike over the years up until they're feature on his 1980 album "The Edge." In 1981 Perry Kibble (Keyboardist for Taste Of Honey) was at "Concerts In The Park" and heard Home Grown Funk performing. He linked up with the group and got them a deal with Arista. During this time they recorded their hit track " Confrontation." Perry suggested that the group change their name because he didn't want another group with the work "Funk" in it and hence "Homegrown Syndrome." They also use the Arista studio to cut an unreleased acetate with tracks "Got the love" and "Party Vibes" soon to be reissued on ATON. Around the same time they were introduced to a fella named Roger Green. Green asked the group to come over to his home studio to cut the track "Inside My Love." Upon naming the record Roger Green suggested to go by "Memphis" since they were all from there. This record was eventually pressed in 1982 as small run becoming extremely hard to find.
