Time for some Double Dutch action with Apollonia’s latest release, which comes courtesy of Makcim & Levi. The twosome have already been picking up steam in their native Holland, playing at many of the country’s best-known clubs over the last few years, establishing themselves as selectors in a class of their own. And their prowess as DJs is equal to their talents as producers, with their very first EP appearing on Raum Musik and finding its way into Apollonia’s sets. Now they’ve got together once again to produce their second EP just for the Apollonia guys…The ‘More Lettuce’ EP fits perfectly into the French label’s sound ethic, emitting a dark groovy energy throughout. For starters we have ‘More Lettuce’, a gritty tech-driven monster on a mission. With its gravely percussion and air-raid siren-esque effects this is a surefire dance floor killer… listen out for the switch of pace, class. This is followed by ‘Tegel’, presumably named after the airport in Berlin. With this we get a kind of dingy Berlin vibe; morose, grey yet ingrained with a bouncing energy that you just can’t help but bop your head to. On the flip side ‘Thaiman’ injects a slightly odd feel to the EP with warped, muted sounds meandering around a subtle bassline. Finally, Makcim & Levi close up the EP with ‘Dope Erwt’ another roller that will enchant the dance floor from the start, building into a bright, airy breakdown before continuing in its somber yet groovy manner.

Following releases from Huerta, Mandar and Makcim & Levi last year, Oscillat kicks off 2019 with an assured, brooding club 12" from long-serving producer Matthew Dekay.
Since surfacing in 2001, Dutch producer Dekay has put out a formidable body of work under a variety of aliases and in collaboration with producers including Lee Burridge and Maher Daniel. His sultry tech house approach has graced labels as highly regarded as Innervisions, Cecille, Aras and Maeve, and now he comes to Oscillat with "Spellbound," a track that finds him diving deeper than ever before into hypnotic, swinging rhythms loaded with atmosphere and longing.
On the B side, Oscillat bosses Mandar (Lazare Hoche, Malin Genie and Samuel Andre Madsen) take Dekay's original and inject it with an infectious peak time energy, creating a straight-up, acid-flecked workout that sits in neat contrast with the immersive shuffle of the original. More

In just a few years Noha has made a sizable impact on the contemporary tech house scene. As well as being at the helm of Nabuco Records and Panick Panick! alongside Alex Tea, he's also released a huge swathe of records on labels such as Nilla, Constant Black, Tartouffe and Point Of View. It's not hard to see why the Oscillat crew invited him to their label - his sleek and instinctive sound is a perfect fit for the subliminal house ops the Parisian imprint is best known for. "Nobody" shimmers with invention, marked out by bold, emotive synth strokes and a nagging, subtly swung groove. Oscillat bosses Mandar then take the original right down into a pristine dubbed-out mantra that gets under your skin effortlessly. It's the kind of classy execution Mandar are known for, and best of all it keeps the essence of the soul-stirring original intact in the process. More

REPRESS ALERT! The Oscillat Music label kicks off the Marabouda EP, featuring a killer set of deep house grooves from Sam. From the opening title tracks, with its breathy chords and jazzy keys, which reference classic Chicago house with a uniquely modern flavour, through the Joey Anderson-like weirdness of "Storm Refuge" and pumping rhythms of "Decoy", the producer demonstrates his killer ear for classic deep house textures. A must-check release from a label to keep tabs on.

Following a recent outing under the Mandar alias alongside studio pals Samuel Andre Masden and Charlie Naffah, Nick Putman presents his first solo single under the Malin Genie guise for two years. Predictably, he explores a range of deep house styles over the course of a four-track EP that's both quietly confident and largely impressive. There's a real bump to "Sense of Swing", despite the presnce of warm, fluid keys, while "Propter" successfully joins the dots between loopy tech-house and shimmering deepness. The techno influence is more obvious on the flip, where "Redskap" and "Ulux" both derive potency from the hypnotic nature of Putman's immaculately produced groove.
