After Dana Ruh highly acclaimed contribution for the SOL10 compilation in 2018, now her 12inch follows with three driving, funky and percussive house tracks! As dj, producer and label owner (Brouquade, Cave Recordings) and co-distribution owner (KMA60), Dana Ruh is one of the driving forces of the Berlin club music scene. Beyond her world-renown dj skills and running a Berlin-based record shop & event space, Dana Ruh has become a prolific producer, who spends every free minute on developing her unique take on electronic music. She releases, not only on her own labels Brouquade and Cave Recordings, but also other imprints like Underground Quality, Ostgut Ton (in collaboration with André Galuzzi) and RDV. Her club music productions are defined by a particular hazy and moody touch. The tracks are well arranged and always contain the right amount of roughness, which lets the music sound alive and organic. With “Still Vase“, Dana Ruh presents three powerful titles from driving and percussive, to funky and stripped down. “My Friendly Fire“ sends us on a hypnotic drive accompanied by warm sub bass frequencies that make your trouser legs flutter. ”Takes Time“ brings you back to reality with its energetic drumming, and the funky, minimal “To Convince“ finalizes this ep with organic percussions and warm sounding strings. Only four releases into it’s blossoming back catalogue, and Molly’s RDV label continues to establish itself as an unmissable outlet for contemporary house and techno with an EP from long-established, always-vital German producer, Dana Ruh.
The twitchy, rhythmic ‘Natural High’ sets the rhythm, ideal for those easily seduced by Ruh’s indelibly tight drum work (or those about to be converted to it nonetheless). ‘Moonday’ then expands the sound with a deeply satisfying bassline that blossoms in myriad evocative directions, incorporating trippy acid fluctuations, haunting vocals and a general sense of strobe-lit urgency.On the flip, and ‘Vattenfall my A’ establishes the energy which which it shares its namesake, trading in a minimal but flexible bassline and eeking out each ounce of tension, in the confident, minimalist style Dana Ruh is beloved for. To close the EP, Molly herself takes ‘Vattenfall my A’ to task, tunneling deeper still with a remix that establishes several shades of fresh, sensual ambiguity, not to mention, an ominous bassline that flirts with the edge.

OCH's release rate has been sturdy since he first emerged in 2010, but he's hitting his stride like never before as he follows up last year's "Love Unconditional" for London's Trelik with a new double 12" EP for his own Autoreply label. As a producer he can never be pigeon-holed serving up his mysterious blends of deep, robotic, space- funk across labels like Traum Schallplatten, Crosstown Rebels and his own Clone-powered Adult Central imprint . "Night Time's The Right Time" finds the Romanian in fine-form laying down punchy drums with pulsating-bass, persistent chords and analog synth-tension. As co-founder of the Pan Records label and collaborator with Mathias Kaden as Mathimidori, DJ PI-GE has been integral to the capital's current wave of house and techno, whilst his high standing as a DJ has seen bookings at respected European haunts Panorama Bar, Womb and Robert Johnson. His track "Down Map" features soft vocals, and catchy drifting synths which build and tease over an 8 minute backdrop of tight, club orientated percussion. Hot on the heels of his critically acclaimed Whalesong EP for Trelik, OCH returns with another equally crucial deep club orientated two tracker. The A Side cut, "Sophisticated Animated", contains a level of funk and energy that is often lost in today's house music. Being constantly inspired by the US pioneers of the genre, OCH presents stripped back Chicago grooves alongside heavy analogue bass and jacking percussion, teasing with a sprinkling of 303 acid and a sparse yet deadly piano solo.
