Berlin-based music software technician by day and producer's producer by night, Iron Curtis (AKA Johannes Paluka), returns to Office Recordings for his third release on the label entitled 'And The Temper' EP.

Following his 'Upstream Color' LP late last year, And The Temper explores introverted tempos and timbres, while traversing a diversity of themes contained within six tracks, portraying a ying/yang of world-class analogue and digital engineering.

From the meticulously programmed acid lines and dissonant chords of '010103', through to the infectiously groovy and damn right funky-and-ridiculous 'Mars (Epoch Mix)', the EP closes out with a weightless cushion entitled 'Strategie '98', highlighting Paluka's on-the-fly jams and passion for purist machine funk!

Trux’ second EP on Berlin based record label Office is a bow to the many outstanding moments in the history of Ambient music. Allusions to Brian Eno are just as recognisable as to the charming concepts of Pop Ambient or Clicks & Cuts. It’s between these poles that the four tracks on the a-side oscillate and manage to capture the listener with vibrant and diverse soundscapes. The flip side sees Trux drop a stunning melodic breakbeat tune besides remixes by Workshop’s premier Techno chef Lowtec as well as a freestyle Electronica version by O$VMV$M. The much loved Super Quiet tops the record artwork off with another remarkable example of his casual and airy black and white photography

Baaz from Berlin gives us further insight into his diverse musical interests with his ‘Two (For You)’ EP on Office. As the title suggests the talented producer splits his musical activity into two genres on this record: One is deep and moody Techno with a knack for strong sub bass and soft pads. And the other one is striking Ambient with a wonderful appreciation of moving melodies and mellow chords combined with touching vocal parts. What is remarkable how well these four carefully building tracks go together and how effortless they further underline Baaz’ artistic vision of reduced and understated electronic music which unfolds slowly but emphatically. A respectable new record which is well worth opening yourself to.

Office 04 circles in memories: The record is about Johannes “Iron Curtis” Paluka’s time at Karl-Marx-Straße Berlin where he used to live next door to label head Baaz and graphic designer Chris Fladung. A1 track “Magnet” is an ecstatic piece of house music holding all elements IC’s production is esteemed and loved for : Heavy, unrelenting kicks, rolling bass lines, shimmering pads, topped with searing hot yet gamelan-like synts and an icing of slightly loose, detuned organ stabs predesting grand emotions on any dance floor. ‘What happened happened’ surely marks up as another proof of Curtis’ fearless takes on house music: distorted field recordings and blurred spoken words, a web of gossamer melodies and subtle clicks and cuts, all cohered by the louche bassline and the reshuffled groove in a true dilla-ish vein. Adapting elements to their own agenda, clandestine groove explorers Berg turn ‘What happened’ into a true midnight roller: razor-sharp hihitas join forces with a steam-maschine like percussion, whipping relentlessly in-between kick drum and kick drum. Berg cools off their take with prancing melody motifs and strung out pads of the original track, though never loosing focus of the ‘reductions’ aim: keep the dancer dancing.

The second part of the “what about talk about” series by baaz starts with “owl’s night”. A deep house tool with a vigorous bassline, some classic 909 elements, weird vocals and a pumpin’ piano chord. “Those Things” the second Track on the A, infects you with positive vibrations and the magic mood. The B side enters with a remix by the highly skilled producer Michel Bauman under his moniker Soulphiction. He turned the track called K.M.S. into an emotional and strong kicking house tune. ?In My Mind? is a subtle, shiny piece of jazzyfied house music with a steady rolling groove and dirty kickdrum. ?Glim? bangs the box with deep dubs and a sexy vigorous groove. The flip starts with two mind-bending downbeat cuts with a stumbling beat. Last but not least a slowburning remix of ?Way Out Citti? by Matthias Reiling (Session Victim, Giegling Recordings) and Björn Astrup who did a brilliant job twisting the original into a soulful homage to the slow side of house

This newly started Voyage Direct series is about all about feel good club music and iscurated by Tom Trago. Hence the name Voyage Direct, which was also the title of his debut double EP. Dexter kicks off this series in a classy style with his Junofest EP. This is easily his best work since his genre breaking electro-funk hit ‘I Don’t Care’ from 2000.

And now its time for ‘Junofest EP’. The title track is a steady, yet smooth club groove with enough swing to make anyone dance to the music. A true party starter. On the AA sidewe find ‘Not The Only One’, an infectious vocoder vocal track that makes you smile. This is one of those rare tracks that has a poppy, commercial feel without losing its underground raw appeal. It could just be his biggest track since ‘I Don't Care’.

2019 marks the year that Music for Freaks has officially been running for over 20 whole years. Two decades of topsy turvy, downright Freakish behaviour. How the hell did that happen?

So, what better time to delve deep into the labels vaults again and uncover more of its hidden treasures. Back in 2015, we approached some of today's most discerning producers, those who truly "get" the label's ethos from old, to let them loose on tracks old and new. It brought to the fore the "Freaks - Let's Do It Again" series of releases and we're super chuffed to bring you the 3rd in the series to kick off the label's 20th anniversary celebrations; a new collaboration with likeminded artists and we think you'll agree it's another testament to the divergent & insouciant house music that has always been the beating heart of this label.

First up, we welcome back the Chilean anti-hero Ricardo Villalobos.

When we sent Ricardo the parts to the Freaks album, "The Man Who Lived Underground" a few years ago, he sent back 5 interpretations which blew our collective minds. This is the 3rd of his journeys. Edited by head Freak, Justin Harris, it delivers a tripped out, discordant tech mix of the Freaks track, 'He's Angry' and is a wonderfully warped and highly hypnotic jam, that drives deep down into the subconscious.

The 20th anniversary wouldn't feel right without some brand spanking new music from Freaks themselves.
This track was properly hidden in the Freaks DAT vaults from the 1990's and Justin & Luke have dusted it off, mixed it down and "Unbeknown To Us" will finally see the light of day. It's safe to say Freaks have always had a timeless feel to their music and this track, despite being 20 years old as an original production, is no exception.

Next up, The Martinez Brothers make their MFF debut and to say we're chuffed to be releasing this one after 3 years of it being in the vault, is a huge understatement. There's nothing but good vibes, cranked to eleven, on this cut and the brothers have cooked up a true rip snorting tech house remix of "Time", that will charm the roof off any self-respecting club or festival tent.

And last but by no means least, fellow previous collaborators on Let's Do It Again, Part 1, Gerd Jansen and Phillip Lauer, aka Tuff City Kids, have graced us with another superb remix of a firm Freaks favourite from back in the day, "Turning Orange". The duo have whipped up an excellent stripped 808, electro-hop mix with low slung electro beats, minor key atmospherics and nostalgic 80s vocal pitch-shifts. Villalobos, Martinez Brothers, Tuff City Kidz and Freaks all on the same record? This is the type of house music madness that dreams are made of.

Fast forward 28 years, and here we are releasing their new acid house monster, the Remote Control EP”Justin Harris Remote Control immediately puts youback in the warehouse or one of those dark, sweaty basement parties which have shaped manymusical educationsover the decades, you know, when things are just starting to get really involved! Beginning with a relentless 90's feel and withmore thana nod to early 90's Belgian Techno, Remote Control steers you through a perfect six and a half minutes of heads down warehouse acid groove, all culminating in a kick-ass gorgeous breakdown. And then there's Dystopia.A deep, dark 909 driven cut of excellence. You can hear in every bar that the purveyors of this track have a deep experience of and are driven to write for the dance floor.
