Berlin-based music software technician by day and producer's producer by night, Iron Curtis (AKA Johannes Paluka), returns to Office Recordings for his third release on the label entitled 'And The Temper' EP.

Following his 'Upstream Color' LP late last year, And The Temper explores introverted tempos and timbres, while traversing a diversity of themes contained within six tracks, portraying a ying/yang of world-class analogue and digital engineering.

From the meticulously programmed acid lines and dissonant chords of '010103', through to the infectiously groovy and damn right funky-and-ridiculous 'Mars (Epoch Mix)', the EP closes out with a weightless cushion entitled 'Strategie '98', highlighting Paluka's on-the-fly jams and passion for purist machine funk!

Iron Curtis has felt like a Polytone artist for quite a while now. He recently delivered a breathtaking remix for Matthias Vogt, and shared a split EP with the man himself, Terrence Dixon.
He's also played several label nights, but indeed "Unwind" is his first very own EP on Polytone.
The opening track "Riders" is our floor filler here. A subsonic bass experience of the more intensive kind. It´s a pure groover, with a surprisingly long lasting breakdown that never lacks on intensity.
'Cream' on the A2 is a stellar ambient joint, with rhythmic elements and cosmic pads.
On the flip we have the title track, 'Unwind', with an unconventional basic groove, bleepy touches and trademark 707 drum machine sounds. Pure and stunning deepness. The Final track is a remix from Force/Emerge and leads "Unwind" into techno territory. Polytone stands for diversity, and again demonstrates the labels vision of versatility here.

It's been almost a year since the release of Iron Curtis' magical debut "Soft Wide Waist Band",
and now a luscious remix record comes galopping around the corner, riding one of the most beautiful tracks on the album. "Horses" is taken apart and put back together on this 12" by the wonderful Move D, Edith Piafra & Johannes Albert, and The KDMS. Move D starts the release with his signature grooving beat, holding the billowing bass line together with crystal clarity. Sparkling melody chords propel each other through the fluffy, shuffling structure - springtime bubbles from speakers like milk boiling over on an open fire. Move D is an old hand in decent German club music as DJ and producer, with multiple releases on his own label "Source" as well as countless others such as Liebe *Detail, Smallville, Warp, Philpot, Running Back, Compost, Workshop etc.
Edith Piafra & Johannes Albert beginn by switching off the lights; their house mix spreads over the dance floor with a deep, booming euphoria that goes straight to the legs. Edith Piafra is also known from the musical conglomerate "Achterbahn D`Amour" (Acid Test) - Johannes Albert is a DJ and a producer and runs the promising label "Frank Music". The KDMS generously toss rumbling drums out there, as their remix swings upwards on funking beats and cowbells to a high-spirited hymn that induces uncontrollable grinning. From time to time, it all crashes back down, just stage a further burst of energy and build right back up like drunken horses. The KDMS is the band around disco soul diva Kathy Diamond and Max Skiba. They released their splendid debut album last year on Gomma.

Trux’ second EP on Berlin based record label Office is a bow to the many outstanding moments in the history of Ambient music. Allusions to Brian Eno are just as recognisable as to the charming concepts of Pop Ambient or Clicks & Cuts. It’s between these poles that the four tracks on the a-side oscillate and manage to capture the listener with vibrant and diverse soundscapes. The flip side sees Trux drop a stunning melodic breakbeat tune besides remixes by Workshop’s premier Techno chef Lowtec as well as a freestyle Electronica version by O$VMV$M. Office Recordings continues to surprise us. After Baaz’ Techno-/Ambient-hybrid on Office 011 the label from Berlin comes up with a stunning new and anonymous project called ‘One Day’ featuring four also unnamed tracks. The A-side of the record starts off with a with a superb Deep Techno track which tempts us with very emotional pads and a strong kick and bass fundament – an irresistible combination. A2 goes in the same direction but feels like the slightly mellower and softer brother of its predecessor – a little bit moody but still straightforward at the same time. The flip side is dedicated to two freestyle electronic tracks standing in the tradition of the best Warp offerings from their heyday in the 90s. We’re talking charming melodies and sparse but elaborate rhythmic patterns. The record comes in a hand stamped and with a lovely artwork also hand made by Office art director Super Quiet. All tracks have been mastered and cut by sound engineering proficient Pole at Scape Mastering.

Baaz from Berlin gives us further insight into his diverse musical interests with his ‘Two (For You)’ EP on Office. As the title suggests the talented producer splits his musical activity into two genres on this record: One is deep and moody Techno with a knack for strong sub bass and soft pads. And the other one is striking Ambient with a wonderful appreciation of moving melodies and mellow chords combined with touching vocal parts. What is remarkable how well these four carefully building tracks go together and how effortless they further underline Baaz’ artistic vision of reduced and understated electronic music which unfolds slowly but emphatically. A respectable new record which is well worth opening yourself to.

The second part of the “what about talk about” series by baaz starts with “owl’s night”. A deep house tool with a vigorous bassline, some classic 909 elements, weird vocals and a pumpin’ piano chord. “Those Things” the second Track on the A, infects you with positive vibrations and the magic mood. The B side enters with a remix by the highly skilled producer Michel Bauman under his moniker Soulphiction. He turned the track called K.M.S. into an emotional and strong kicking house tune. A cut for the special moments. The Original is produced by Iron Curtis & Baaz . 90 Bpm, a dippy pipe organ, wooden beats and shaky percussions. The last track ”Whatabouttalkabout” is a lush experimental listening slice, prober for the dark and chilly winterdays.
