John Tejada and Arian Leviste are back on Areal after their much celebrated release “Reactance“. These guys are working for 25 years together meeting up weekly in the studio to try new things. They say themselves that it is their longest and most special collaboration. They use mainly hardware with an old school mind set that comes more from the early 80s NYC hip hop culture than anything else. Early pioneers misusing gear and making the best of their limitations. Their newest release “Hysteresis“ comes along strongly functional for the club.

It was a hot summer day, no clouds in the big blue sky, as I suddenly got up to return my friends basketball after not returning it for more then 10 years. I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I had to do it right now. As I walked down the street holding that ball I was flooded with memories. The party at Michael's house. Those crazy Technokids from upper Austria. The drinks, the drugs, the girls, the blurry parts... One memory was especially blurry, the one where I pick up that basketball. I was alone in my friends garage, the repetitive sound of filtered kickdrums coming from inside the house. I remember feeling like I am not really alone. Flashy lights. My memory seemed to be coming back more and more the closer I get now. The garage door was open. I got inside. I try to put the ball back in the cardboard box where I took it from as the garage door closes. Darkness. A voice whispers: "I smell your sound and I eat your colors"

Whatpeopleplay reels in another biggie for their second release: "western starland" is surely one of the signature tunes by tech-funk luminary John Tejada and his long-time collaborateur Ariane Leviste. Originally released in 2001 on his Palette imprint this is one of those tunes that never leave the crates of many DJs and if you have been dancing anywhere in the last 10 years you'll surely instantly recognize those synthetic string chords. Tejada himself gets busy here and revamps the also included original with a brand-new 2011 mix: the original signature elements are right there from the start but fused with a beefy house beat, a new bassline, a hissing soul organ and lifted to the next plateau by thundering staccato chords in a classic detroit style. The flip holds the glorious original plus the not any less brilliant John Tejada VIP mix from 2003.

Palette Recordings celebrates it's 13 year anniversary with a release by the duo that started it all for the label. No giant mix compilation or collection of remixes, just another example of what has built the foundation of Palette over the last 13 years. John Tejada & Arian Leviste have been collaborating for over 18 years now. With this release the duo in a way come full circle, combining some of their oldest production techniques with newer ones. It's been a long road for these 2 seeing styles and trends change, equipment and technology come and go over the years, but what has remained a constant is their vision of electronic music. "Messenger" with it's subtle intro of modular synths and rhythmic pads breaks out of it's sinister drop full force into a multi dimensional crowd pleaser. The stabs continue to build energy while layered drum programming and modulating synth lines escalate the tracks energy. On the flip, "Observer" continues with a fierce pace that harkens back to the days of Palette 4, combining vintage synth stabs and drum machines recreating that classic vibe which is gaining such momentum again these days. The difference here is these guys were around at the time already releasing music that would garner them such high acclaim over the years.

It took a good one and a half years to see these two gentlemen reunite again. Pro's may know why. You can only create so much quality work that it's good to take some time off now and then to get back on it with refreshed senses, new gear and new ideas. This 3 tracker is the start of a string of new 12's and simply "multiplies" everything good in John and Arian's music. The motion, the funk, the accurate timing, the control, the tension, the groove, the deepness, the classic techno-ness, and the oh my goodness" kick assivity! :) Check out the ultra intense, sturdy "Multiplier," a hard rocking deep dark tune layered with modular synth madness. Flip to the B for "Mathemagician," the "Mono On Mono" update you've been waiting for. Closing out the single, another analog scorcher "Synthescheizer" does it's damage with 2 MS-20s side by side. No plug ins on this release, just good old dirty hardware.

BACK FOR BASICS is coming and it doesnt disappoin- it´s a real album! John Tejada and Arian Leviste´s first full lengh Collaboration since their remarkable "Fairfax Sake" on german Playhouse in 2003 and maybe altogether their best production to date. The 10 tracks of the CD (8 brand new plus the Recently Released "Psycho Happiness" and "Ghetto Platipus"/Palette 32) flow together like one piece and come on like a highly needed techno lanndmark in the "consesous" retro electro times of 2005. Just check how the nervous feel of "Patterns" gloriously blends with the warm liquidy electronic bliss of "From Empty Words" and back to the energetic "Triad Jack" - sensible intense and tempting for more! Tejada and Leviste's advanced production technique makes a sound you'll be hard put to name, right in the sweet spot between house and techno, breaks and 808s, plucked strings and patch cables, edits and immediacy. It's sunlight and silicon; it's a breath of fresh air. "I think it's a pretty strong statement and different to all the things going on. It's not glitch techno, it's not 80's synth crap. it doesn't sound so many things do these days. we were sort of trying to go for the feeling of the first time you heard "chime" (Orbital) or something like that. going back to what made us feel that way. a timeless sort of thing in the current age of trends." John Tejada. Sorry, No Exports to Spain

SHORT INFO:
"Berlin E.P." by Marmion was released 28 years ago on 15th of April 1993. Unavailable for more than 20 years the legendary Berlin EP from Marmion is back as original repress, re-mastered and re-cut. The fourth release on Superstition Records and especially the included "Schöneberg" was suddenly heavily championed in the Benelux and UK, e.g. by Tony De Vit (RIP) @ legendary London's Turnmills @ Trade events and soon became a legendary status as one of the biggest House or Tech-House hymns of its time, celebrated in the best clubs by the most renowned DJs worldwide. But this E.P. has much more to offer, Marcos Lopez and Mijk can Dijk managed to capture the very open minded spirit vibes and energy of the early 90s of Berlin in four different and special tracks. "T-Dancer"for example is Berlin's Hi-Nrg answer to the East Coast House and was simply the hymn of the Gay-T-Dance scene worldwide.
About Marmion:
Mijk van Dijk and Marcos Lopez met each other in 1986 when both did their academics at FU Berlin. Marcos Lopez was yet working as a DJ at several Berlin clubs and was also the moderator at the Eastern-Germany based cult-radio station "DT 64" with the legendary programme "Nightflight". Mijk van Dijk worked as a music journalist for magazines like "Frontpage", "CUT", "HYPE!", "Network Press". In 1990 he released his first record on the Berlin based Low Spirit label (LoopZone, Hate/Les enfants du paradies). For the Berlin Bash-records he produced in 1991 solo and together with DJ Tanith different 12"s, before he found a constant base at the also Berlin based MFS label with projects like Microglobe, LoopZone and Mindgear and on Superstition Records with his MIJK?VAN?DIJK?projects.

Format: Vinyl 12” (180 gr., Limited Full Cover)

B1 – Masterplan
B2 – Piano heaven (St. David remix)
Release Info:
Cinthie joins the Heist fam with an EP full of lush, epic house music with 3 originals and a St. David remix.
Cinthie is the kind of artist who seems to be everywhere all at once. In the past years, we’ve seen her compile a lush DJ Kicks compilation, release numerous EP’s on labels such as Aus music, run one of Berlin’s finest record stores (Elevate Records), tour the world fiercely, and create an all-new live show. Her EP for Heist has been in the works for a long, long time and it’s an absolute pleasure to finally present the ‘Music for Discotheques’ EP. Spoiler alert: It’s a no holds-back, ‘all killers, no fillers’ record. Just the way we like it.
In classic Cinthie fashion, this EP has the Berlin-based artist explore various sides of house music, starting with the vocal cut ‘Won’t u take me’. Lush pads, shuffling snares and a dreamy female vocal work together to bring a warm and classy house track with a clear nod to 90’s US house, but with its feet firmly rooted in the present.
Piano heaven takes you on an Italo-meets-deephouse excursion straight into…Drum roll…: Piano heaven. A driving 909 groove and a deceptively simple bass form the foundation of the track, but it’s the keys (and strings) that bring this track to its full peak-time potential. The energy in this track is of the ‘hands-in-the-air / screaming-out-loud’ type and it has already become one of the biggest tracks in Cinthie’s live-show.
On the flip, Cinthie explores the pacier electronic side of the dance spectrum, with the footwork inspired jam ‘Masterplan’. Think classic 808’s, loopy synths and a cheeky spoken word piece that lifts the song to a level where it’s extremely danceable and quite simply put; really fun.
The final track of the EP is the expertly crafted remix by Italian house maestro St. David; an artist Cinthie has always been a big fan of. He’s made a dazzling rework of ‘Piano Heaven’: A deep and driving deephouse version that’s layered in sweeps, fx and bleeps for an altogether mesmerizing effect.
We’re thrilled that we can share Cinthie’s music on the label and have her join the family after having played so many shows together and having spoken about doing something together for such a long time. As always, play it loud and dance, dance, dance!
Yours Sincerely,
Maarten & Lars More

Charlotte de Witte? marks the homecoming to her own imprint ?KNTXT? with her brand new EP ‘?Return to Nowhere?’. The captivating record exists out of four long-awaited tracks called ‘Return to Nowhere, ‘Ensemble’, ‘Sgadi Li Mi’ and ‘What’s In The Past’.
Further exploring her sonic realm, the record features techno sound reminiscent of her ‘Selected’ EP, but switches out the acid stabs for haunting hymns. The result is a gripping dismal soundtrack that feels desolate yet hopeful. With this spellbinding EP which combines her iconic hard-punching techno with mesmerizing chants effortlessly, Charlotte proves once again why she remains at the forefront of the industry.
The release of ‘?Return to Nowhere?’ fits perfectly in these uncertain times. ?Charlotte? says: “I made the EP before the current COVID-19 crisis. After being inspired by recordings of age-old traditional chants. So, I never intended it to be a “Corona record”. However, it did grow on me during this period of isolation.”

rico puestel - Neyst
Tracklist:
(A1) Neyst (B1) Enokid
Info:
Rico Puestel is in charge for our Cocoon Recordings 144th release. Rico is an "producer animal" who released more than 100 tracks & remixes since 2005 under various project names such as Dinamoe, Central Scrutinizer and of course under his main moniker Rico Puestel. The enormous amount of productions shaped Rico's knowledge and taste and his new cocoon release "Neyst" and "Enokid" seems to be the logical result of his long journey through the techno-universe. Puestels style is very unique and merges elements of dark and hypnotic mainfloor techno as well as orchestral sounds and even industrial elements. "Neyst" is the perfect hypnotic and dark techno circle that keeps on progressing and building up into sheer madness. No fast food, no leightweight, this is heavy techno business! "Enokid" comes with a little more of a Chicago house vibe however it is again still deep in Puestels very own style. We especially fancy the crazy break in the middle with the spaced out room effect part and the melody coming in after the break. As stompy and musclepacked this track is, it still seems to be very musical and deep at the same time - what a trip! This one demands a good and proper sound system, well what other Cocoon Release doesn't?

WhoMadeWho & Artbat - Closer feat. WhoMadeWho
Repress WG standard sleeve
Tracklist
A) WhoMadeWho – Montserrat (Artbat Edit)
B) WhoMadeWho – Closer feat. WhoMadeWho
Coming in hot with the first of three EP’s from WhoMadeWho’s Watergate 26 is two of the standout tracks from the mix. Both tracks come from WhoMadeWho and Artbat, yet with a unique twist each one sees the collaborators exchange creative roles.
Kicking things off Artbat’s edit of WhoMadeWho’s ‘Monsterrat’ is as deep and hypnotic as it is soulful and energetic as traces of Rock harmonize with low slung House and shimmers of Disco resulting in an eternal dance floor weapon.
Flipping sides WhoMadeWho features on Artbat’s ‘Closer’ where we witness the two outfits concoct a dramatic, emotional ride into celestial spaces where sweltering vocals balance delicately on massive bursts of low end and dreamy progressions creating an incredibly tense yet captivating outcome. Indulge in these two timeless cuts until we bring you more soon from the stellar WhoMadeWho Watergate 26. Enjoy!

Infotext:
For our next release we welcome back two of Hamburg's finest and most recent international exports: Adana Twins. Last seen on our latest Various Artists compilation, the duo returns with three absolutely stunning tracks of low slung, infectious cuts blurring the lines between House and Techno with an undeniable brush stroke of character the two are quickly becoming synonymous for.
'Flower Of Cane' kicks things off in an almost sinister fashion with massive low end bursts and a fever inducing, single note that never stops rising culminating in a climactic crescendo of dance floor euphoria while 'Ortus' takes a much more 'up-beat' approach with dreamy arpeggios and shimmering atmospherics laid over a pulsing bassline resulting in a gorgeous number ideal for a number of memorable moments.
Wrapping up the originals is the guaranteed summer anthem: 'Relentless fest. Jeppe Kjellberg' where sultry vocals and lush aural artifacts launch sensations to uncharted new heights. Not done yet, we asked none other than the brilliant Andre Lodemann to create his revision of 'Relentless feat. Jeep Kjellberg' and he, as always, delivered big time. With not only one but two solid reworks of the original Lodemann's remixes need no description other than there is a vocal and a dub version to satisfy any DJ's sensibility. We hope you enjoy.

With respect, my name is Minimal Rock! Extrawelt give us a good going over and bravely break new grounds with their "Titelheld" EP. Here, insane minimal sounds merge with Rock flair, Electro and Trance harmonies. The title track with the telling name "Titelheld" brings us an electro hymnus with hints to Anthony Rother or Codec&Flexor, paired with a juicy deal of pain in the heart. A guaranteed hit for next summer!
"Stammgast" is a perfect DJ tool, which has a strong recognition effect, still, and makes the crowd go wild in seconds. Minimal rock par excellence!
For all of you who don't know much about Extrawelt (yet): the human beings behind this project name are Arne Schaffhausen and Wayan Raabe, who have worked primarily under the akas Midimiliz and Spiralallianz. Until now, they have released more than thirty maxi singles and several albums (on Border Community among others!), and will record a new 12" for Traum Schallplatten this summer.

A1. Artispure Feat. The Remedy - Chicago Underground (Andrew Emil Dreamix)
B1. Change Request - Sunday's Best (Andrew Emil Dreamix)
B2. Elbert Phillips, Andre Espeut - Sunlight (Andrew Emil Dreamix)
Release Info:
Chicago house producer Andrew Emil (aka Change Request) joins Andy Vaz's Yore label. House music that comes directly from the source – That is Chicago, IL.
The “Nite Dreams” release features remixes (called here Dreamixes) by Emil of one of his own Change Request productions and two by other artists.
The three lustrous Dreamixes on Emil's Nite Dreams are, put simply, irresistible. Chicago-based music collective Artispure (feat. The Remedy) opens the release with the enticingly swinging “Chicago Underground,” its dynamic house groove sprinkled with claps, chunky synth chords, slick hi-hat accents, and soulful vocal interjections. Made over by Emil, the tune's straight-up fabulous. The snappy Change Request production “Sunday's Best” glides breezily on a tropical wave of claps, a skipping house groove, and gentle melodic figures that give the music a nostalgic, even plaintive quality. The closing cut, Emil's soulful treatment of “Sunlight” by native Chicagoan Elbert Phillips and singer Andre Espeut, shows no drop-off. With a snare-popping groove driving the tune and Espeut laying a beautiful vocal across the percolating backdrop, “Sunlight” rivals the other two tracks for quality and appeal. Vaz keeps bringing them strong.
