THIEVELAND JAMS... Thug Records next 12" presents a new 4 track E.P from one of the undergrounds Commanding Lieutenants, Jeff Samuel. Named after his hometown of Cleveland Ohio, the Thieveland Jams E.P hits hard with 4 HAMMER minimal house jackers. Punchy bass, looped up percussion and jazzy chords sit tightly against the back drop of Jeff's signature soundscapes. A seminal house & techno artist, Jeff Samuel has a back catalog of street ready bombs on some of the most respected labels worldwide including Spectral Sound, Logistics, Trapez, Poker Flat and Dan Bell's legendary 7th City. Not much else needs to be said really... hope you dig the tunes as much as we do!

Jeff Samuel is on Minibar!! No need to present Jeff Samuel anymore, he has been an activist on all the major labels of the past decade… from 7th city to Trapez or Pokerflat. We are thrilled about these 2 new tracks he produced especially for Minibar. Sit back, switch the groove receptors on, and enjoy this insane EP.

After his „Blap EP“ (Poker Flat 39), his remix for Guido Schneider‘s „Oh My Buffer“ (Poker Flat 53) and his DJ mix on „Poker Flat Volume Four“ (pfrcd14) we are happy to welcome back Mr. Jeff Samuel with his new EP „Fire“!Jeff has been constantly building his profile as a DJ, producer and remixer over the last few years and has released much appreciated 12“es as well as his debut album „Step“ on Trapez in 2006. Apart from that, Jeff also relocated to Seattle where he works as SFX sound designer for video games. The new 12“ „Fire“ is a great snappy and propellent tune with some squeaking synths and a stomping beat. An excellent starting point for two brilliant remixes. The first remix is done by Claude VonStroke who runs his Tech-Funk label Dirtybird from San Francisco. In this remix Claude adds more dirt to the synthies and as the track goes on, more distortion .The second remix has been done by St. Sebastian (aka Gamal Sebastian Kaba) who has released two 12“es on Dessous Recordings with a third one coming up. St. Sebastian has already created his own signature sound which is apparent in his „Adrenal“ mix of „Fire“, here he focusses on the more squeaky tunes and rebuilds the track in rather reduced outfit, with a great messy break in the middle. An awesome package that will set the dancefloors on fire!

Jeff Samuel, - Founded
When the electronic funk hits the fan, especially in the midwestern US, it is likely that Jeff Samuel is the man at the controls - dj- as well as production-wise. Born and raised in Cleveland/Ohio it weren‘t - as he always points out - the likes of Tangerine Dream or Skinny Puppy that had a big influence on him, but more the mainstream rock music like KISS, which he could sing along to before he even was able to speak properly. Although you can‘t hear definite rock influences in his quirky, dallying minimalistic tracks, which have been released on labels like Daniel Bell‘s 7th City, Trapez, Lo-Fi Stereo, his unique style of playing around with single elements might e.g. relate to the way a sophisticated guitarist handles his instrument in a solo part. For his first 12“ Release on Poker Flat he provides what can be considered as triple-Aside record. Three tracks of perfect minimal funk, located straight on the border between house-orientated groove and technoid drive, always undulating, moving and hypnotizing the crowd. A sure shot for deejays to be stuck in case for years and a pleasant piece of music for all clubbers and homelisteners.

Titonton Duvante’s Residual imprint has long been considered one of the most respected house-leaning labels in the game. Over the course of the past two decades, the Ohio-based label has housed works from some of the scene’s foremost players, with the likes of Boo Williams, John Tejada, Demarkus Lewis and Volcov among those who’ve repped the tight-knit label with distinction. The label’s latest is another high point for all concerned. A V/A featuring the works of Duvante & Andreas Saag as well as Garrett David, Todd Sines (under his .xtrak alias) and Fym, it’s a wonderfully varied and exciting release that speaks volumes of the label’s ability to consistently churn out top drawer house music.

john tejada - Repurposed
Hot on the heels of Refraction Vol. 2, Residual welcomes the return of long time friend John Tejada. The prolific programming master serves up salacious selections that are searing to say the least. The lead track Jaco is a Pepe Bradock influenced piece the twists and turns with breaky beat work. The numbers on the B side are firmly focused on filing the dance floor. Round the Outside shows Tejada in top form. Upfront drums and basslines perfectly paired with flittering melodies. Repurposed is more minimal in form but no less effective. Quirky tweeks along cascading riffs.

Titonton Duvante's Residual imprint operated out of Columbus, Ohio from the late eighties to the mid-nineties as mainly a vehicle for his own works, but also other legends of the US such as John Tejada, Boo Williams and Todd Sines. He's kickstarted the label again and he's doing it in style with a new track on the A side "Concupiscent": a darkly emotive serving of broken beat high tech soul. Hamburg's Smallville affiliated pursuer of modern deepness Christopher Rau gives us the sublime minimal groove of "Russian Cartoons" too. On the flip, another legend of US techno; Seattle's Jeff Samuel makes a comeback, on the uplifting and funky feelgood groove "WT Fader". Finally Chicago's Garrett David, resident at Smart Bar and buyer at Gramaphone Records gives us the Jeff Mill's tribute "Stasis"
