dj nature - Siliconada
DJ Nature follows up 2018’s ‘Ultimate Delusion’ EP with another set of pure heaters for Futureboogie. The Bristol born DJ and producer, also known to many as Nature Boy, comes with an exemplary track record, but that’s to be expected from one of the scene’s early pioneers. Releases for Golf Channel Recordings, Jazzy Sport and Ruff Disco Records are considered true classics, and rightly so! Breezy MPC house jams of the highest quality, ‘Flutter’ manages to fuse David Lynch style pads and earthy vocals with a marching rhythm, whilst ‘A Moment’ gets cosmically charged with a spiralling modular lick over a chugging guitar hook and spacey chords. NB’s Mix of Siliconada goes straight for the jugular, with looping disco rhythms and off kilter jazz licks, whilst the Original Version lays heavy and disorientating synth work down for a killer techno injection. As always, DJ Nature delivers a unique and distinctive sound that is often imitated but never bettered!

dj nature - Blood On Your Hands
Cottam's Ruff Draft label reaches release number 9 with a stunning double drop from Milo Johnson AKA DJ Nature. Always one of our favourite artists, we've loved Milo's music for years at Ruff Draft and his tracks on Golf Channel, Sound of Speed and Jazzy Sport never leave the box, so we are blown away to present to you two future classics. 'Alfred' is a masterclass in raw rhythmic production, kicking off with popping old school drums and builds into an uptempo jack track with a melancholy and depth missing from a lot of modern club tracks. 'Blood On Your Hands' is sonic bliss, a stunning polemic using a speech from a 60s episode of The Twilight Zone that still resonates today, about the futile loss of life in wars run by people who don't fight them and monetary interests placed over lives. Brooding sub bass and dub techno sensibilities combine with a lolloping shuffling groove for a darker head nodder with a serious and sadly still pertinent message.

DJ NATURE aka MILO steps uponce again to the indispensable Golf Channel label, with his eagerly awaited debut artist album comprising all original material. A founding member of legendary Bristol sound-system collective The Wild Bunch (which spawned Massive Attack, Tricky and much more), Nature made NYC his home in the early 90's & went on to collaborate with the Major Force crew in Japan, before hooking up with GC boss Phil South, who thankfully persuaded him to don his production cap once again.
There followed a series of acclaimed 12" releases through GC which developed a trademark sound, a sound he's fully realised on 'Return Of The Savage'. Nature's unique take on modern black music is somewhere between the bass heavy sound system cuts on which he cut his teeth and the more nuanced vibe of peers like Theo Parrish
Irresistible, low slung and beautifully structured yet raw club pieces make up this outstanding selection - this is an exclusive mixed CD edition (which also includes download codes for the individual tracks, as well as three additional skits). Serious business !

pontchartrain - Be Free (Just Alexander Remix)
Swat's third release & DETROIT is in the house ! There are times in which you can clearly mark a producer's evolution. When they stop inching towards growth and make a bold statement of change in capability and vision. Such is the case with this EP from Detroit-based disco guru, Pontchartrain. After a few years of steadily pushing out some significant pieces of work that have increasingly straddled the line between originals and edits, and nearly a decade of studio experience, his long overdue official house music debutante has arrived. Featuring Detroit local soul artist, Coko Buttafli laying down some blistering vocals with a clearly positive house music message, on top of live percussion and keys, and bold analog drum rhythms, pontch has created a solid diva-house gem. The sneaky festival-ready banger, 'Loose', performed, mixed, and overdubbed live, provides some fantastic contrast and versatility to the release. A Mr. G-esque remix by DJ phenom Just Alexander and the musical journey of Topher Horn's evolving and deep version on the flipside make this a well rounded record that will undoubtedly stay in your bag for a good long while, and will find its way back in for years to come.
