general ludd - Making Strange (Locked Groove)
Fragrant Harbour has invited General Ludd's Richard McMaster (Golden Teacher) and Tom Marshallsay (Dam Mantle) to end the year long hiatus since the last FGHB release. The first track What brings dark, African rhythms alongside meticulously structured techno elements, coming together to create an intense and maddening energy. Later Last Night continues forward with interspersed percussion layered on top of inventive sub-frequencies bringing a constant pulse to the track. The fastest track of the record, Making Strange ends with more madness; a hollow mid-low range drives unrelenting throughout, visited unexpectedly by frenzied percussive highs. "

General Ludd sculpt bizarre auditory mazes built within the fracturing constraints of western dance musics. These tremors ripple from the dear green place of Glasgow, Scotland; beguiling a physical cathartic experience for the dancer disillusioned with the horror and folly of our times.

General Ludd are back with Sunset Yellow, their third EP for us in as many years. This one picks up where "Are You Losing My Hearing?" left off with three more doses of heady drum breaks and spacey synth lines that have been psyching out our dance floor in New York for quite some time now with no negative side effects.

Ned Ludd, possibly born Edward Ludlam, is the person from whom, it is popularly claimed, the Luddites took their name. In 1779, Ludd is supposed to have broken two stocking frames in a fit of rage. After this incident, attacks on the frames were jokingly blamed on Ludd. When the "Luddites" emerged in the 1810s, his identity was appropriated to become the folkloric character of Captain Ludd, also known as King Ludd or General Ludd, the Luddites' alleged leader and founder.

General Ludd is Rich McMaster from New Jersey and Tom Marshallsay from Canterbury. The guys met at the Glasgow Art School, where Rich studied environmental art and Tom studied fine art. Their first collaborations were interactive sound installations, but that quickly gave way to all night music making sessions. This is their second EP for us – a more left field turn than their first, but, we can assure you, both tracks will break discerning dancefloors wide open.

Hong Kong based label FGHB. (Short for “Fragrant Harbour”) is continuing their steady outputs of two releases a year with this time an EP from BBRB, a Taiwan based duo composed of Riles Jay Bilgo and Benoit Bouquin (who usually released under “L’Amour Fou” along with Move D and Marco Wollenberg) as a 6th release. Powder (Cocktail D’Amore) and Mr. Ho (Klasse Wrecks) completes the EP with a signature space workout of a remix of ‘Cat Slaves’ and a powerful EBM version of “Two Policemen”.

After several acclaimed EPs on some of Europe's greatest labels, such as Local Talk, FACES, Mile High and his own Rawthenticity, it's now on the Hong Kong's most prominent label "Fragrant Harbour" that Fulbert has decided to land with a truly raw piece of house music. Meticulously sampled and arranged with the help of analog gears, Days Of Being Wild got this very special saturated ow-fi sound, very characteristic of one of the most promising talent to have emerged onto the French electronic scene in recent times.
