dimitri veimar - Alps
The Daniel Avery supported Russian DJ Dimitri Veimar preps his debut 17 Steps release, the ‘Planet EP’. Planet opens up with screeching atmospherics, chuggy percussion and a brooding bassline that works it’s way towards a breathless synth line perfectly suited for pre-dawn hours. Dean Grenier’s classy stripped back and sped up flip of the title track retains a crisp four-on-the-floor rhythm tailor made for the Berlin clubs he calls home. On the B side 'Snowfall’ carries on where the A side left off. Electro synths and muffled breaks portray the sounds of a UFO control deck transporting the listener to an other worldly utopia. The closing track ‘Alps’ is a stunning downtempo club tool that ends up forming the emotional centrepiece of the EP.

Dimitri Veimar - Blaze (Florian Kupfer Saturn Return Remix)
A1 Blaze

B2 Blaze (Florian Kupfer Saturn Return Remix)
Released in solidarity with Tiga’s anti-tech house crusade, a silent campaign fought everyday on the streets of your hometown, “Blaze” finds Russian crypto-whiz Dimitri Veimar still dancing with the rawer-than-the-rawest-dog electro that’s brought him to the dizzying heights of the mid-tier crags of Mt. Turbo Mountain.
Throwing his weight behind what some in the media are probably already calling "Tiga’s War" was absolutely necessary following the events of a recent gig in Moscow. Veimar opened the night by playing no fewer than three Tiga tracks, which anyone who’s read Tiga’s Taboos can tell you is definitely a Tiga Taboo. Deeply immersed in the practice of pouring his own mineral water, Tiga ignored the hootin' and hollerin' of the VIPs crowding the DJ booth (including Dennis Miller and Diego Maradona), and proceeded to play a set entirely comprised of recordings of every embarrassing thing Veimar had ever said in his life. Four hours later, an emotionally-shot Veimar collapsed into Tiga’s arms, with the magnanimous label boss whispering, “I forgive you, Dimitri” into his ear.
The release also features a "broken techno" remix from mysterious European producer Florian Kupfer, who made us sign a Non-Disclosure-Agreement dictating that we can only describe him as “mysterious,” “enigmatic,” and/or “European,” so we’ll have to let the music do the talking.

B2 Rise Up
Throughout its nearly 20year heroic label's journey, Turbo Recordings has fulfilled its pledge to "keep on lookin' for the music" no matter where it takes them, working with artists from cultures as diverse as Sweden, Finland, England, Spain, Scotland, Mexico, Australia, France, Argentina, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the United States, Israel, Denmark and Toronto. We realize that certain parts of the world are still underrepresented, and are working hard to correct this. Our Antarctic A&R guy has been asleep at the wheel for far too long, and can expect a sternlyworded e-mail any day now.
All of which brings us to our newest core artist, Russia's Dimitri Veimar. We'd like to tell you we discovered him when he and his friends shot down our Eurasian Outreach Ableton Tutorial Helicopter for being "too condescending," but the truth is actually much simpler. Veimar is merely fluent in the universal language of floor-filling, one that transcends borders and skincrawling descriptions alike. It is a primal tongue describing a future where all communication is elevated to an endless loop of sweatdrenched clubgoers pressed tightly against the front of the stage, smiling at everything you do.

Tracklist

B1 Windor

Seasoned memory athletes will no doubt recall the Turbo's past affiliation with the former Soviet Union (Proxy, Tiga Tigayevich Khristorozhdestvensky), and recent geopolitical developments have prompted the label to once again hedge its bets. Our A&R team spent countless hours sifting through layer after layer of Russian underground music, a shocking amount of which turned out to be fake SoundCloud accounts from producers based in Florida. In fact, our best intelligence suggests that Dimitri Veimar may be the only person making music in Russia today.
For the 30 minutes a day he is not trading in politically moderate Twitter-bot futures, Veimar produces dark, raw-dog electro. He has already released music with Omnidisc and Renate, so it makes little sense to us why we have to communicate with him via a mole in the Canadian embassy in Moscow, which is further complicated by the fact that the mole is also an aspiring DJ/producer whom we have to keep happy at all costs. You have no idea how much has been sacrificed in order to shield you from the realpolitik of international dance music.

A2 Michal Zietara - Mr. Joy (Ian Pooley Remix)
B1 Michal Zietara - Euro Robot
B2 Michal Zietara - Pink Seal
Shortinfo:
Renate Schallplatten's eighth release comes from Michal Zietara with Olympia Europa. The four-track EP, the Polish-born, Bavaria-raised, Berlin-based Renate resident's solo debut features three originals plus a remix from Ian Pooley.
Opener "Mr. Joy" is a late-night uptempo jam with a punchy bassline and warm pads. Chopped vocal samples come to the fore around the breakdown, raising the tension for maximum euphoria upon the beats' return. Ian Pooley's flowing remix on the A2 is in the signature '90s filter house style. The vocals lead the way, adding some warmth to a rather stripped-back affair. It's another peak-time cut that makes you want to close your eyes and move to the music. The punchy beats and upbeat melodies return on "Euro Robot," this time paired with intricate drums, fluttering vocals, and high-pitched keys. Closer "Pink Seal" is more downtempo and pensive, centered around coherent vocals and smooth pads. The beats feature less prominently, even fading away after a brief midsection. It's a cerebral track; a moment of self-reflection in an otherwise upbeat, high-energy EP.
The EP is Renate Schallplatten's second of 2019, following Longhair's label debut. Earlier EPs have landed from Moscoman, Sebastian Voigt, Wareika, and more.

Longhair - Aquamen
Tracklist:
A1 Mangostine
A2 Pans&Pots
B2 Mangostine (Axel Boman Remix)
B2 Aquamen
Shortinfo:
Next on Berlin’s Renate Schallplatten is Longhair, a project formed by Marko Pelaic and Benedikt Bogenberger, two residents of Berlin’s Wilde Renate. Mangostine, a four-tracker, follows last year’s 12” on Dutch label Bordello A Parigi and a track contribution on House Is OK. It lands with an Axel Boman remix.
The EP opens with the title track, its name drawn from the exotic fruit. Over a brooding bassline we hear light, fluttering melodies and uplifting keys, creating a peak-time roller that’ll put smiles on faces across the dancefloor. “Pans & Pots,” the A2, starts as a darker affair with trippy vocal samples and fluttering drum patterns, before warm keys and intricate instrumentation lift the mood to make for a fun-filled jam peak-hours feel-good jam. On the flip, Studio Barnhus head Axel Boman reworks the title track into a more subtle, deeper cut; the melodies remain but in the background, replaced at the forefront by tribal drums and abstract vocals. Closer “Aquamen,” meanwhile, opens as a straight-edged techno cut with a heavy bassline and fluttering snares, before playful keys and intermittent sci-fi samples add some texture. It’s another late-night jam that’ll lift the energy without ever being too forceful.
The release is Renate Schallplatten’s first since 2017’s various artist compilations. Earlier EPs have landed from Moscoman, Sebastian Voigt, Wareika, and more.

We are bringing together the creative might of our residents to bring the sound of Renate on a double release EP. Over the years Renate has grown from a impetuous party to a glorious club.
