youANDme is acclaimed collaborative project between Berlin based pair Martin and Daniel. They make raw, emotive underground sounds and Martin recently turned out a well received full length album on Ornaments that explored far and wide. They did official works for artists like Moodymann, Radio Slave, Seth Troxler, Lawrence and many others. They also run Rotary Cocktail and 3 other mysterious labels. "Take Away" was written in summer 2014 with vocalist Black Soda from South Africa. The track is made from various hardware synth, and is filled with feeling. It is built on a bed of pinging drums and coarse claps, but the heaviness lifts with the arrival of Black Soda's breezy, spoken word vocals and some colourful xylophone like melodies. It's a proper underground anthem in the making, frankly. Then comes Loco Dice with his version. It is chunky, with grainy, sheet metal claps, twisted vocals and skewed synths that all make it robust and masculine. Sure to be massive when dropped in the right club, it is a fine bit of work from the boss. Pablo Bolivar then steps up to remix and flips the track into a more uptempo, gliding house cut with starry melodic patterns, punchy drums and filtered vox. It builds and builds to a peak and then implodes under emotive arps that are dotted left, right and centre, no doubt owning floors in the process.

Following the much-acclaimed ‘Bazzerk’ compilation, French DJ duo Jess & Crabbe return to curate a second collection under the Bazzerk banner, exploring a criminally unknown dance scene. ‘Changa Tuki Classics’ takes us on an exhilarating trip to a Venezuelan underground electronic scene.
Defining Changa Tuki as a genre is tricky, the respective meanings of the words themselves is a mystery yet to be elucidated. Changa emerged in the late 80’s as a the word to describe all strands of hard-hitting electronic music, to this day it remains the one popular term applied to all forms of House or Techno. The birth of the word Tuki can’t be pinpointed, but to everyone it seems to be the vocal interpretation of how the typical Changa bass drum sounds to the Venezuelan people. With many styles and subgenres being born regularly in the Venezuelan underground scene, Changa Tuki is most commonly used to encompass all these music styles

the Venezuelan music scene. Movements, dances, nights, TV and
radio show all popped up celebrating hard-hitting electronic music.Due to poverty and the lack of available gear and pirated software,it’s only at the end of the 90’s that Venezuela started boasting its own production and original subculture, introducing the local DJ/producer concept. With the arrival of internet access in slums, music production boomed and several subgenres emerged, such as the slowed down Street House or the syncopated Raptor House

From the early 90’s on, House and Techno had a huge impact on
the Venezuelan music scene. Movements, dances, nights, TV and
radio show all popped up celebrating hard-hitting electronic music.Due to poverty and the lack of available gear and pirated software,it’s only at the end of the 90’s that Venezuela started boasting its own production and original subculture, introducing the local DJ/producer concept. With the arrival of internet access in slums, music production boomed and several subgenres emerged, such as the slowed down Street House or the syncopated Raptor House

A backpack, some vinyl records, a portable turntable and a sampler for self deconstruction / recreation from which resulted this (mainly) instrumental album and which is documented in form of musical videos in the dvd.
The particulary of this project resides in the non-quantized beats over which the enlightening poetry is spoken, rapped and chanted in portuguese, where trial and error take part of the compositions which are enhanced with the use of instruments played by invited musicians and sometimes by Diaphra himself.
Add to this various carefully handcrafted editions – including a silkscreened reproduction of the real Diaphra’s Black Book Of The Beats – and you get the kind of artifact we love to bump into. Available as CD and Limited Vinyl Edition.

BIOGRAPHY:
Other People is excited to debut the work of 19-year-old Russian producer Gena Volgarev, aka InLensk, with the Obratno EP. Translated as backward, or conversely, Obratno seems obsessed with and frustrated by a sense of nostalgia that can never lock its focus. Finely etched, highly detailed rhythms retain a cerebral cool fluttering over, under, and around melancholic digital melodies that bend and degrade sporadically. Meanwhile, the tactile use of filtering, extreme pans, and hypnotic microprogramming reveals an interest in sound’s ability to shift temporal perception and evoke a purely neural response. Yet there’s an intuitive warmth to a track like “U 1”, where a percolating guitar-line seeps through the austerity of a woody, lo-bit groove. Inspired by the artist’s childhood in the provincial village of Lensk (thus the pseudonym), Obratnoliterally looks backward for its world. The track titles codify
minute, yet impactful aspects of Gena’s past. “V 4”, for example, translating to “in 4”, references his tight quartet of best friends, skipping along with an appropriately jocular bassline, tottering cowbell, and a deep, accentual “Hahaha.” Wherever wistfulness appears there’s also anxiety, manifest acutely in the unpredictable percussion. A snatch of Amen break cuts to a strike of open hi-hat and then a roll of heavy toms, never repeating texturally, even if there is a constant pulse. It’s the contrast of speed and weight, between the drums and the melody, that creates a provocative air of avid melancholia — grasping for something not too far in the past that’s fading faster than it should.

Embezzlement Society takes us back to the early days of 80s Hip-Hop with his 'Rough Quarters EP'.
On his record the man from Belfast heavily relies on Funk-based drum loops as were popular in the
glorious days of old school Hip-Hop. The results are two super casual tracks with a cool Hip-House
attitude – just perfect for Hip-House lover Drei Farben House who took the chance to contribute a
remix in his slick and smooth style, merging the raw drums with some tender Rhodes. Tenderpark
regular Roman Rauch finishes off the EP and slows down the tempo in his remix concentrating on the
originals of the samples and displaying his mastery with the MPC once more. As always all tracks
have been mastered and cut by Helmut Erler at Dubplates & Mastering.

Belfast born imprint Computer Controlled Records follow up on their acid rich debut Explorer EP from Mark Forshaw with a five tracker from Chris Moss Acid on a release that also features a jacking collaboration with Breakin' Records owner and all time don DMX Krew. It marks the third in a run of original EP's from Chris Moss Acid who's been enjoying something of a renaissance in his productivity, releasing with a host of top grade labels from to Jerome Hill's revered and uncompromising techno imprint Don't and Dutch electronic hub Shipwrec. Here he delivers his five track Righteous Beats EP which is set off on the A side by Spatial Dimensions where discordant synths and bell powered melodies are ignited by driving percussion atop a pulsating bass line. Second track The Shamen rolls off driving drum fills and 303 acid lines illuminate the track as Moss Acid takes things up into peak time techno sphere until the A side is summated with his collaboration with DMX Krew, Where Is Your Jack, in a rawer toned track, featuring a jittering bassline and off kilter drum patterns which rove between distorted acid lines. The B side carries two dense and dark techno numbers to complete the acid romp; title track Righteous Acid Beat is marched along by yet another driving bass line as a pistol shots of noisy high hats punctuate the track. Ominous chants of 'We're gonna get you' lead us into final track Getchu where dark tension rides a brooding and dense techno horror story.

UK funk connoisseur Duke Slammer takes the driving seat on the 303-fueled 'Bangkok Skytrain', with remixes from Moscow based Simple Symmetry and returning artist Tony G. Inspired by tropical heat, Bangkok Skytrain utilises 303s, analogue drum machines and mixes in field recordings taken from an excursion to Thailand. The result is a heady concoction of warm basslines and humid atmospheres, with a groove reminiscent of early 90's melodic techno and a cheeky drum track that wouldn't be out of place on a Larry Heard record. Simple Symmetry, the Lipski brothers from Moscow, slowly rebuild layers of the track like a locomotive building up momentum, and in typical style Simple Symmetry style finding the perfect vocal sample and pan pipes that help propels you into the foreign lands. Before you know it the track is pumping at full chug! Tony G's take goes a bit further afield than the original. A dub rhythm sets the picture in outer-space. Hihats stutters like cosmic dust rickashading off the nosecone of the space ship while longing strings take us deep into a distant nebular before the 303 bring the thousands of new galaxies into view. Definitely music to listen to in the dark! Look out for the secret dancefloor weapon 'Just Drums', an industrial drum machine workout for the freaks!

Fachwerk celebrate 8 years Fachwerk with a special 2x12" Album Release... Fachwerk, established in Berlin in 2007 By Mike Dehnert, will be celebrating their 8th year this September with an album showcasing the cohesiveness of their sound and artists. In the past years, Sascha Rydell, Roman Lindau and Mike Dehnert himself have called the label home, hosting frequent nights at Berghain among other venues with the whole crew. With the minor exception of a couple releases the label catalog almost uniquely features the German trio. For this special series, the three have come together once more, with the last time being three years ago, to each contribute their perspective on this anniversary piece as they travel through various emotions that capture the uplifting energy of the label. The story is told as a narrative opening with a prologue from an alluring French female which slips gently into a punchy bass and cheerful rifts. The plot continues to unfold with dub-like chords that nurture serene atmospheres, which glide between bouncy beats and darker intriguing synths. The camaraderie is evident as the story progresses through a series of interludes embracing the banter of daily life running a label. The sheer ability for Dehnert, Lindau and Rydell to intermingle and rest so consistent has them fooling any ear into thinking this compilation is a solo album. This is not an easy task for many labels, yet they are able to embody the essence of what the label has achieved in the past 8 years as well as what is still to come.

Having previously lent her quirky voice to the London based cosmic jazz collective Nostalgia 77 and reknowned German beatmaker Dexter, Josa Peit settled into the lab and developed an intriguing musical sphere of her own. On her Debut EP Constellation, Josa Peit has crafted her own brand of soul miniatures, emerging under influences of house, disco, krautrock, psych, and hip hop. Josa Peit mostly defies conventional song expectations yet leaves the listener rewarded all the same. An alchemist in search of the unlikely balance of elements, she embraces analog and digital sound. It's indeed a strange balance created here - elegant minimalistic funk and soul played by Josa on synthesizers, wurlitzer, bass guitar, percussion and more, mixed with dusty samples that she puts together with a certain idiosyncratic bad-ass attitude. The 6 tracks allude to one another, yet are each a statement on their own. After the intro's organ and vocals tease us, Dawn opens up like a mantra for what's to come. Originally written by the acclaimed Los Angeles based Carlos Nino and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson under the moniker of Build An Ark, Josa's adaptation is reduced to its core: a catchy bass hook, handclaps, and her soulful, vigorous vocals. This is the closest it gets to a normal song structure on this record. The title piece Constellation drags us right into Josa Peit collage territory. A gritty organ hook, an obscure choir and single tape-fueled sounds lead into a fanciful rhythm-shifting housey piece, driven by cymbals and bass science. With divaesque ardour, Josa's voice insists 'never mind the constellation'. On Sly we get Josa Peit letting the funk out. Trippy funk definitely, with roaring organ pitches and a driving disco kickdrum. Confession Room keeps up the funk, adding a breakbeat vibe, dazzling with Josa's pitched-down vocals. The title plays with the idea of an imaginary music platform where artists could anonymously release raw material. The closing piece leaves you reminiscing, like a loop leading back to the beginning. Blended memories, perfectly standing for what makes Josa's music special. It's an inviting openness to the moment, allowing itself to slip into the irrational. Yet it magically doesn't fall apart. For the B side, acclaimed beat wizards Max Graef and Glenn Astro teamed up for a remix of Constellation, turning it into outer space dance music. Last not least, aforementioned producer Dexter delivers a smooth hip-hoppy take on the piece, excellent car cruising material indeed.

As one third of the founding trio of revered Cologne imprint Magazine, JENS-UWE BEYER has become an obvious choice for any adept of open-minded electronic music, both through releases such as the one-track-one-hour manifesto "Red Book" (Magazine 008), several contributions to our Pop Ambient compilation series or inspired remixes for Barnt, Dream Weapons and others. Besides this being the same mastermind as the one behind the ongoing Popnoname brand, you wouldn't expect upcoming THE EMISSARY to actually be a debut - but it is, for it's the very first time that we're treated to a full-length offering under the artist's real name. To those who happen to know him personally, JENS-UWE BEYER is already a pretty multi-faceted guy, so it doesn't come as a surprise to them when his new album THE EMISSARY is, too. And what a well-rounded album this turns out to be, delving deep into a highly personal and unique sound cosmos made almost entirely of atmospheric pulses and beautifully textured drones. Layers and layers of minute details float in a cloud of sound, surging and fading in the most organic manner, giving the listener the impression of this actually being a pop album hiding in plain sight. Well... we didn't call it pop ambient for no reason, right? But the connection goes a little bit deeper than just some GAS-infused sample droning with a hint of rhythmic structure - called a "very intimate" album by its creator, this collage of personal sonic impressions doesn't just check the boxes of what normally could be labeled pop ambient. It's a bit like a silent riot, calm on the outside, but seething on the inside, a run against the grain while embracing all the template has to offer. It's "more a question than an answer", says the producer, "and about the freedom to hear your own music in between the recorded sounds". His intention is to "open up spaces" - highly idiosyncratic spaces, pathways into the metaphysical, with "every listener being his own emissary" on this uncharted territory. Time for an adventure!

Danny Moore aka Pvre Matrix is from a generation of young techno producers out of Brooklyn who come at the music without preconcieved notions or boundaries in their approach to production and playing live. He is the epitomy of the slash and burn blitzkrieg attitude of new producers popping up under the JMZ everyday. While very interesting to see the scene develop this way, few have executed in such a fashion as Pvre Matrix has. Impeccabily produced without losing its sense of urgency or brutality and clocking in at breakneck speed, Pvre Matrix is out for blood, and his three track debuts prove as such. While you might not catch Danny Moore in your local big room anytime soon, he is undeniably a force that is present and will crush you regardless.

Recorded dub style live and direct in the studio by Ralph Lawson with authentic 1970s Master Room Spring reverb, Eventide delays and high quality field recordings the track takes you on a trip through the eye of the storm. The beats remain deep, delayed and scattered throughout with a couple of killer drops. The aim is to totally freak people out on the dance floor and it certainly does just that, standing out from rest and sounding huge on big systems. Jacques Renault has traveled the world round many times (we're betting he's clocked a few hundred thousand miles); played the biggest clubs and smallest rave caves alike; worked with and for bigwigs, hotshots, up-and-comers, local friends, and foreign pals met through couch-surfs, house parties, and crate-digs; released original and remix material on a litany of labels that, as a whole, reads as a who's who of 21st century dance music culture; been half of a renowned production duo (Runaway); and helmed a handful of labels, Let's Play House included, since his humble beginnings, as a rookie DJ in his Chicago dorm, circa 1997. And so it's a little tough for us to do our usual thing and break this release?his debut long-player?down, track by track. We've been waiting for it for so many moons that now, in light of its completion and eminent release, we're at a loss for words. We can tell you that it includes 11 tracks, many of which feature guests, all of whom are pals from around the corner or around the globe. We can tell you it comes packaged in a deluxe gatefold sleeve that was designed by our creative director and head graphic designer since day one, Drew Heffron. We can tell you it is the product of hundreds of hours of tinkering and noodling and obsessing. Really, though, that's about all we have.

The 12" features contributions by Bryce Hackford (Prah/DFA), Matt Werth (RVNG Intl.), Afrikan Sciences (DeepBlak/PAN) and Thomas Bullock (Rub-N-Tug), plus two new tracks by Georgia that further develop their informed hypnagogic ambient-pop tendencies. Bryce Hackfod takes Nu-Way Heat into subtle club music territory, conjuring up a distinct, varied and mesmerizing house track that builds and layers into a blissful mini-anthem. Matt Werth puts nu-digidub spin on Abstract High, turning the original into a confrontational and slightly absurdist slab of dancefloor confrontation. Afrikan Sciences deconstructs Mahbunzi Nahgo Pihndi Goes To The Market using his characteristic broken breakbeat approach to create a piece of daft and extremely modern electronic funk. Finally, Thomas Bullock modi-cuddles Haya into an prolonged ambient reverie to bridge and layer between dance floor pulsations.

It's great to watch the path that The Black Madonna has taken lately. Chicago's Smart Bar resident has been tearing up clubs around the world, but few nights compare to her taking over Panorama Bar after Nick Höppner's set in March 2014 – that night was Disco and House mayhem on the dancefloor. Her remix of "Relate" puts more emphasis on the kickdrum, turning Höppner's dreamy original into a sturdy, 4/4-heavy House monster. A proper hit and proof of her singularity! A similar yet different approach comes from Berlin-based duo Liit: Their remix shines some wan and oppressive light on the album's buoyant pop gem "Come Closer", really adding by subtracting. More unusual sounds and additional production are served with Dutch Aardvarck's treatment of "Grind Show" – a deep and mesmerizing piece of dancefloor voodoo and a classy earcatcher. Last but not least Herva jams on the brake, making "Rising Overheads" a slowed-down multi-layered offbeat deep dub with an overall sound & style of its own. With Remixes Nick Höppner follows up on his solo debut album release Folk. Ptaki's tunes soar wide-winged like their translation (bird) infers. With a breakout single under their belts on the Very Polish Cut-Outs 'Krystina' and a swirling vapour of mystique surrounding them, the duo present their first full 12" of original material which is both contemplative and transfixing. The Kalina EP on Young Adults Recordings clocks in around 25 minutes, but the ground it covers cannot be clearly conveyed through conventional cartography - a birdseye view of jagged cliffs, coastal haze, rolling bagpipe hillsides, and smoke signals. Opener 'Warsaw' borders on the sublime with a patience and gentle simplicity that can't be taught or bought. Placidly ethereal, this is cinematic Balearia in the tradition of Quiet Village that won't soon be forgotten. Chimes, toms, horns and strums swell and crash like gentle titans. 'Foxy' builds slow on Celtic tropes and emerges from the bell tower with a jump in its step. Vocal swoons keep the pace atop effective strings and a bouncy bassline. 'Kalina' builds on an effortless guitar and displays the duo's songwriting chops with a stable balance of emotion and punch. The closer 'Skala' explores deeper territories with a thumping low end and acid workout, but still manages to drift into dreamlike states with its meandering flute refrains and guided meditation samples.

PoleGroup number 033 features Reeko. After the successful releases in his own Mental Disorder imprint, he comes back home with this four-tracker. Reeko's sound has evolved over the years and he has become one of the most original producers in the scene. His special approach to sound and texture, coupled with his very particular view of obscurity and mentalism, shines here in all its splendour. The first cut, "Empty Streets", is a journey through sound starting with subtle kicks that grow to find their own place in the mix, plus mechanical sequences and a melancholic string break. "Bad Mood" is an exercise in modern techno: panned alien sequences, high pitched drones and extreme sound processing which result in maximum sonic amplitude. "Dishonest Thoughts" is the ambient slice of the record: pads, atmospheres, sub-bass frequencies and darkness. "Sunday Night" goes dubby and liquid by emphasizing the low end and reverberated passages, and adding a massive stereo work.

Summer 2014 saw the release of Anton Pieete’s ‘The News’, an eight track selection that further cemented his new musical path. Raw, powerful productions that matched the classic sounds of early Detroit and Chicago, with the future leanings of Anton’s own production tastes and techniques. The News was an instant hit with his peers, drawing a tidal wave compliments and club support. It was some of those same supporters that Rejected have looked to when drawing up their wish list for this exciting remix release. UK sensation Mosca was first on board, having been an early fan of the originals. He chose to take on the deep, mysterious and somewhat spooky ’Next Year’, with the Not So Much boss toughening and twisting the original with reversed sweeps in an elongated beatless opening that leaves us feverishly anticipating the drop of the first kick drum, at four and half minutes. Fellow Dutchman Tom Ruijg goes to work on the title track. Relegating the original's dominant synth chords he strips things back, only to rebuild as a tense, minimal and mysterious techno outing. Anton himself joins forces with Awanto 3, layering their wonderful vocal lick over the original to give it a fresh and addictive new face for the summer.

Janis is one hell of a Frankfurter. Born and raised that is. His bold imprint 'House is OK', being run with two friends was started 1 year before 'smile for a while', so there was surely some kind of inspiration coming from that end. The S4AW guys kind of adopted the sound maniac and gave him a cozy little music studio together with all the other smiling madmen. There he sweated blood & tears onto his Prophet 600, the Moogs, the Rolands and all the other vintage music boxes. The outcome is an amazing wall of House sound, crazy in the details, epic in dancefloor quality. 'Never there' was sung by good friend Anshie from Croatia who dropped by for a little one-to-one chamber choir session. To make things short: A real summer bummer! The remix coming from Johannes Albert takes things a little deeper with a sublime sub bass and dry percussions like the Frank Music honcho is known for. 'F FM House' is kind of a homage to FM syntzhesizers, like a 4 a.m. dancefloor killer reprise version of the original. 'Sloan Great Wall' then finishes off at the early morning stomping grounds. Piano chords to the maxxx plus lots of sound FX and devastating beats.

Now on their 6th release, Tuskegee present a new collaborative effort between The Martinez Brothers, Jesse Calosso and Phil Moffa who - operating under their new production alias ‘Soundview’ - piece together a tribute to Rob Fernandez. Beginning his career as a doorman at Tracks, Rob Fernandez went on to become a true stalwart of New York’s scene throughout and beyond the 90’s who - throughout, played a primary role in keeping the spirit and love for dance music alive in the city. Now - in keeping with the 90’s indebted ethos of Tuskegee Music - Soundview present their homage to a legend in the form of the ‘The Method: a 2-track EP brimming with live analogue drum work and hustling acid lines. ‘Nex Legends’ kicks things off with a tight, bubbling groove that glides under wildly pitched percussion and mangled vocal signals. On the heels of last year's "Moon Temple" EP, Throne of Blood co-founders Vito & Druzzi return with the two floor-ready vocal house jams featuring Xavier, a veteran vocalist best known for his brilliant version of "Gimme the Night" by George Benson released on erstwhile NYC disco imprint, A Touch of Class Recordings. Road tested everywhere from Brooklyn clubs to Electric Elephant festival, "It's EZ" and "Deep Into It" deliver the goods, from hands-in-the-air hooks to speaker rattling bass and emotive keys. This is modern dancefloor house music rooted in classic 90s vibes. Longtime friend of the label and Delft Records founder LA-4A strips "It's EZ" down, dropping short loops of Xavier's vocals over a massive acid line. With precious little of the original instrumental in evidence, he delivers some straight-up machine funk for big dance floors. For her remix of "Deep Into It" Mexican upstart Lokier builds upon recent releases for Have A Killer Time and Viall as well as her new collaboration with Morgan Hammer as She Makes Monster. Her version is a dislocating miasma of synths and drums, amping up the psychedelia and drug chug atmosphere.

Here comes the second chapter of our limited Pattern Series. Oscar Mulero delivers three tracks of precise techno, deep and elaborated. "Balance and Acceleration" runs at medium tempos with a scientific sequence as absolute protagonist, spiced with shuffled hi hats, subtle kick drum and a linear but evolving structure. "Pain" has a more liquid approach in the beginning, low-pass filtered bass, bright percussions and a subterranean sequence that grows along white-noise lines in a constantly changing arrangement. "Kinesthetic Science" goes through similar parameters: flanged sequences, filtered drums and an overall electric feeling. Three slices of futuristic techno on a superb package and limited touchable units.
