Luneworks was created during a period of personal upheaval for Colleran, who headed out to a friend's tiny spare room in L.A with just a laptop and a few changes of clothes. What ensued was an intense month of twelve hour night-time writing and recording sessions, where Jack sought to isolate himself in order to keep the songs as pure as possible. The quietness of the city at night was a real inspiration, and the constraints of an alien environment proved something of a liberation.
The ancestral, ethereal spirit of Ireland is also present throughout Luneworks. Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine), one of Dublin's most famous sonic outliers, is a noted influence - another musician who has wrung sweet emotion out of chaotic noise.
The result is Luneworks, a fully immersive head-trip; a record that is at times brutal and at others unbearably beautiful; sometimes in the overlap of a single track. Luneworks is a mirror to the soul - a gorgeous, wordless expression of unedited, unfiltered emotion, heralding the arrival of one of the most important electronic artists of our generation.

After a series of releases on HAKT Recordings, Nicolas Jaar's Other People and a collab with Kasper Bjørke, Abstraxion returns to his own Biologic Records which he co-manages with DC Salas. ?
Not only is this his first solo EP on the label since a few years, it's also the second release to celebrate Biologic's 10th anniversary year.
Resonance comprises of two original cuts and three remixes. Going from a peak time techno track by Matrixxman to a house rework by Fort Romeau and a disco infused version by Massimiliano Pagliara, the EP not only represents the label's diverse sound but also Abstraxion's own productions and ever evolving style. As a next step, Abstraxion will release in 2016 his second LP She Thought She Would Last Forever, mixed by Francis Harris (Scissor & Thread, Adultnapper) and on which he already received support from his inspirations/ mentors Dan Snaith (Caribou) & John Talabot.

Kicking off a new limited series on Circus Company, we return to JAW's solo project Midtown, which was released in 2014. Amongst the 19 collaborative tracks that saw the dOP vocalist sparring with musicians from all over the world, there was a spellbinding song written in conjunction with British
singer-songwriter Piers Faccini. “Traitor Creator” is a haunting track very much led by Faccini’s fragile vocal, with JAW laying down a
subtle undercurrent of harmony. Meanwhile the delicate guitar tone and sparse percussion that shape out the song all lend themselves to a mournful, existential message. Even in the climax of the track, with its fractured guitar distortion, the Eastern lilt of the melody dictates a mystical atmosphere.
To frame the original track in a new light we called upon Nôze to deliver a remix. The pensive mood is maintained through a brooding low-end pulse, but the vocals are mixed to further accent the interplay between the two distinct singers. Using a stripped-back beat and threading in choice slices of the
guitar alongside light touches of synth, Nico and Eze draw on the fundamental spirit of the track and take it to a new, equally captivating place.
Of all the tracks on Midtown, “Traitor Creator” was perhaps not the obvious choice for a club-friendly remix, but in such unlikely situations can some of the most captivating results be found.

"Among Wolves" follows the typical Tim Green formular with this highly musical way of combining surpreme beats and massive basslines with deep melodies. This is music, this is art and this story telling with sounds. "Among Wolves" is one of Greens most dramatic productions so far and it will for sure take you on a trip while getting lost on the floor.
"Over The Water" appears a bit more relaxed however it doesn't leave the emotional and dramatic corner. If you are bored of all those simple and loop-based toolhouse productions you'll definitely find something touching and interesting here. Tim Green prooves again that he is the uncrowned master of electronic music if it comes to deep and emotional productions. Something to feed your brain, your body and your soul. Something to get lost to and something to stand out for sure!

With their second longplayer ?Meanderlust?, Randweg undertake a trip along melodic fields and rhythmic turns. The songs sound self-willed yet catchy: they are feel-good-music with an experimental core. With unusual instrumentation (clarinet, guitar, bass, cajon, computers) and unique style, Randweg treads a previously untrodden path: "A detailed one, sensitive, gentle and scratchy, one that you would like to go more often now." (De: Bug). The duo breaks with any expectations one could have given the instruments collected here, and the clarinet playing "has nothing to do with the usual clichés one may associate with this in itself innocent and lovable instrument. On the contrary, it?s sounds remind us a lot more of our well-loved vintage analog synthesizers. "(Groove)
Andreas Ernst plays the clarinet since he was 12 years old. The way he puts his instrument to use is exceptional: the clarinet serves more as a natural oscillator, whose vibrations are alienated with effects and transferred to a different world of sound. A woodwind instrument as a controller for soundtransducers, filters and delay. Andreas distinctive playing style can also be found in tracks by Ripperton, Ellen Allien and Der Dritte Raum.
David Baurmann forms the musical counterpart on bass and guitar and enriches Randwegs electronic beats with cajon. Firmly anchored in Aachen's electronic music scene as a DJ, here he is a multi-instrumentalist, to whom the duo owes their peculiar band-like sound. It's a stroke of luck the two met 2007 in Berlin. Together they are Randweg.
The reimplementation of the pieces on their debut album Equisetales (2013) aroused Andi and Davids appetite to perform live. With its four instruments, the duo not only revamped the sound of the first album, in this very interaction the duo also laid the foundation from which they would henceforth meander further into musical territory. Soon they played their ever-growing repertoire in clubs and at festivals. Publications on Dock Records and Nachtdigital followed. It was in this period the ten songs for their second album Meanderlust were written. On their actual release, Andi and David succeed seemingly effortless and clearly more accenuated to wander across genre boundaries. Folk-ish melodies, jazzy playfulness and clubby electronics, sometimes even with an open sympathy for epic rock: Randweg break with any expectations one could have given the instruments collected here, and take the listener away to a musically impressive and cineastic landscape.

We here at L A MISSION like to whip out our politics in public. We kinda get off on it. And so we're especially excited to slip you B EANER' s first solo outing on the label . From track titles to sound samples to magazine articles to packaging, this record / magazine / performance package highlights im/migration, the brown experience, and stripped identity. La Mission knows from brown. The collective is run by a crew of devastatingly handsome deviants whose racial identity is, well...it's complicated. We've lived our lives being neither white enough nor brown enough to fit neatly into racial categories. And so we took some time out from our usual exploits (like our "MultiDirectional Playground Tire Swinging" orgies and Elected Candidate/Dead Pig/HungerGames slashfic) to focus on brownness. People started talking about "cultural appropriation" when Miley Cyrus started twerking. We couldn't throw shade fast enough. But cooptation and exotification runs rampant in all genres of music-including dance music. We here at La Mission feel pretty fucking awkward about it. We've seen queerofcolor culture turned into whitedudebro business ventures. And as brown folks with stripped and fragmented identities, we're never sure of what culture is ours to use and abuse, anyway. Can we honor our own roots if they're messy and broken? When we're "inspired" by the music of other cultural groups, is that solidarity or stealing? Nothing we have is whole. We can only work with the fragments we have at hand, well aware that there's unfinished business… BLACKMOUTH is the live version of the classic soul/disco sampling house tune. First up is close friend and rock solid producer "Good Guy Mikesh". Out of Leipzig, Germany, he's the guy with the Perfect pitch, forward thinking ideas, an impressive discography of 12"s to his name, and a huge range of influences from funk and soul, to 80's new wave electro and back again. He's come to the table with four tracks we've been busting to share with you.
'Whim' is the steady builder. Spacious and very much alive with sliding leads and layers of analogue synths that sparkle, it's melancholic bliss, it's a deep breath inducing, dance floor lifting, thought provoking piece of beauty. 'Why Not' is something deeper, the bass slips and slides dancing with the top line, while a palette of plucked strings, tuned percussion and Mikesh's signature synth soundscapes reach into the distance as the track continues to roll.
On the B side, 'Cookie' is joyful, its playful keys and poolside energies toast to warm weather and good times. Bouncing arpeggios lead the charge in the break, rising before giving way to euphoric synthetic strings which lead us back into the elated refrain. 'Corone' hints towards Mikesh's disco history, boasting a burly bass and a funk all of its own, this indie dance shaker's got a solid groove and vibe to spare.
A listening pleasure and a dance floor treat, Mikesh's far reaching and assured musical vision is inescapable on this record. The perfect welcome back for SPIEL.

Our little Dirt Crew sub label Spiel started out in late 2013 with three excellent releases, the first two by "Clancy" featuring remixes by "Urulu" and "Prins Thomas" followed by a stellar EP from "Mercury". After a hiatus SPIEL
is back for 2016. Renewed and inspired we have a bunch of both fresh faced and established artists on board packing quality releases for the year. Bass Culture reach that magnificent milestone of 50 releases with an extra special EP from someone who has become part of label’s inner circle, the infallible Mr G. Set up in 2009 by Paris stalwart D’Julz, Bass Culture Records has maintained a consistently high level of music, crossing from techno into house and back again, always with a focus on quality over quantity. Mr G delivers two special gems from his arsenal of weaponary to mark the 50th Bsss Culture release. The first, ‘Transient’ sees Mr G in contemplative mood, taking a studied approach with this deep, soulful cut. Softened pads are drizzled over a punchy low end, with tough, crisp beats supporting a stirring vocal which urges everybody to get up on their feet. The nineties organ lick gives it an almost sorrowful feel, and those pads continue to takes us up to the skies. A beauty. On the flip, ‘Crumple Zone’ goes straight for the jugular with a driving b-line, alarming stabs and finger-clicking percussion to get that head nodding. Combined with garbled, hypnotic vocal clips, it’s a mesmerising, eyes down cut for the late night heads. Towards the latter part of the track, a naughty riff comes in and adds another layer of sleaze to proceedings. And there you have it, Mr G proves yet again why he’s such a all-round don and Bass Culture celebrates 50 releases with panache.

It is by now no secret that the sounds of the kick drums echoing off the hills of the Tennessee valley have been singlehandedly redefining what we know to be truly Proper for the better part of a decade now. However, the faces of those that make up this new world order have remained largely in the shadows. As such we are beyond excited to bring Tennessee's two most elite producers, Memphis's Will Azada and Knoxville's Alex Falk, back to CGI. 'The Illuminati Traqckx' EP is a split 12" powerful enough to knock the Earth so far off of it's axis that even Jeff Mills's mothership won't be able to swing it back on track. The A side see's the first 2 new cuts from Will Azada (under his given name, at least) to hit wax since his untouchable Cliché EP for CGI in 2013. Two sides of the same coin, both "Flutterbutt" and "The Illuminati Traqckx" anchor a living, breathing, spacious rhythm scape around a deep thudding kick, expertly crafted percussion workouts, and airy chord stabs to create an otherworldly and immersive environment in which to lose your mind and find your body. Consider these cuts a master class in maintaining momentum. Flipping over to the AA side, Alex Falk tones down the atmospherics but not the intensity with two cuts of classic Falk-style techno bombs. "MR1" kicks it off with a massive kick drum anchoring a polyrhythmic monosynth and dancing white noise to create a driving cut that is as beautifully simple as it is gripping. For "Blazeit," the EP's final cut, Falk keeps the rolling monosynth/kick drum dynamic that made "MR1" so irresistible but this time colors it with hi-hats and what sounds like a sample of someone who took too deep of an inhale, expertly arranged so the intensity never stops building. No handclaps required.

A true unsung hero of the underground house community, Matthew Styles is an effortless producer and faultless DJ, making him the perfect regular at the likes of Panorama bar in Berlin, and putting his skills as an engineer in demand for many luminaries. A decade ago he was at the helm of Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels as its first label manager, steering it through some of its most successful releases, and he has since made his footprint as a producer in his own right. On his debut EP on Crosstown the tracks move from the solid, big room sound of ‘Clandestine Emotions’, into the layered beats and bleeps of ‘Wrong Move’, through to the classic break-beat of ‘Avon’ and gentle elegant bass-lines of ‘Sleepless’, Styles proves he can master any style and keep his authentic sound embedded within it. Firmly schooled in the history of dance music as a DJ, Styles’s father was a disc jockey and long time member of DJ culture pioneers DMC, instilling in him the age-old tradition of moving a crowd with music. From a recording career on esteemed imprints such as Running Back, Ostgut, Classic and Rekids, and regular appearances at clubs such as fabric, Munich's Bob Beaman, Concrete in Paris and the aforementioned Panorama Bar, Matthew’s priority has been intrinsically placed with servicing the needs of a dance floor.

Originally released in a limited edition of 500 copies in 1982 Monoton’s second album ‘Monotonprodukt 07’ is now a collector item and also one of the most important album of all-time. It has been voted one of the 100 best records by highly influential UK magazine The Wire. Monoton was founded in 1979 by hypermedia wizard Konrad Becker as an art project that underwent various transformations and collaborations in its exploration of psycho-active sound. A pioneer in experimental electronic music, Becker continued to break new ground in electronic media.‘Monotonprodukt 07’ has been reissued on vinyl by desire (and is still available as a double picture-discs limited to 500 copies. It’s the first time ever that tracks from the album are remixed and desire is proud to had such great artists/producers as US Prositutes, Svengalighost with fellow partner and L.I.E.S. boss and Hospital Productions artist Ron Morelli. The last remix is the work of great Mancunian duo Rainer Veil (Modern Love). An incredible remix package that do justice to this classic album ! Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy.

The Black 80s make a long overdue return to Freerange following their 2014 release Move On (from which the Kollektiv Turmstrasse remix become something of an underground anthem). The duo hailing from Montreal and consisting of Hollis P Monroe and Overnite have been responsible for some seriously influential tracks over the years, not least Hollis' bonafide classic from 1997 - I'm Lonely. For The Rest is a slice of sultry, stripped back house heaven which drips with soul and will melt the hearts of all who hear it. The key to the tracks beauty is in the minimalism of the production keeping everything paired back to the bare bones and placing all the focus on Overnite's vocal which twists and mutates thanks to some clever use of FX. Who better to work their magic on the remix than German producer Show-B who comes fresh off his incredible Jaap Ligthart Remix and Washint EP on his own Lossless label . Here he pushes the original through his sonic mangle, injecting steely atmospherics and layers of synths to forge a driving, muscular version which will sit perfectly amongst the sounds of Dixon, Mano et al and has already been getting early spins from Ame´. A second remix from Carlos Sanchez completes the package (on the digital version) staying truer to the original vibe but adding delicate pads and whispering strings for some late night bliss.

Crowned ‘Best Newcomer’ at the DJ Awards 2015, Cuartero returns to Hot Creations, following his ‘Dioneli EP’ smash release last year. Fresh on the table, the ‘Disarm EP’ ups the stakes and sheds new light on the talented producer. Title track ‘Disarm’ was fully formed after days spent exploring his Minimoog, while ‘Mounted’ shows focus in the bassline and underlying swing, embroiled in dark, distorted vocals. Speaking of the final track, Cuartero explains, ‘’It Stops’ is a completely different style of track that adds old radio broadcasting snippets over Detroit stabs.’ Despite being recently named ‘Best Newcomer’, Spanish bred Cuartero has been producing since the tender age of 15 with his first release dropping in 2009. Releases followed on highly acclaimed labels such as Desolat, VIVa MUSIC, Saved, Moon Harbour and Hot Creations, achieving great national and international success with most tracks reaching the Beatport Top 100. In 2011 he founded his own brand, Sanity, enabling him to start a record label and host parties worldwide with the idea of prioritizing the essence of music over the appearance of top named artists. It was in 2012 things really started to heat up with an abundance of gigs in five continents, numerous top chart positions on, a gig at Amnesia closing and a prized residency at Hyte (Amnesia). The first place the world heard the lead track from this new Love Notes from Brooklyn release, "Where Pathways Meet", was on Deep House legend Mike Huckaby's My Life with the Wave show volume 2. Pascal Viscardi was one of many great artists to take Huckaby's warm tones and turn them into a work of art. "Pathways..." wriggles with deep funk and soul, and is paired with 3 other likeminded tracks for this very well-rounded EP. "Oshakusan" is the dancefloor track, juxtaposing warm chords and an insistent sax sample over the a tough bassline and rhythm combination that's aimed staight at the floor. "Free at Dawn" is the fathoms deep effort, going miles below the surface in a emotional expression of soul, and "And I Showed the Clouds (How to Cover Up a Clear Blue Sky)" provides a perfect outtro, and end to the statement made, making this EP feel truly complete.

We have been following his Fathers & Sons label for quite a while now and so we were super happy as we received a demo from him. Ashworth's Grain LP captured the imagination of many in the music world on it's release last year. After releasing two original EP's from the album we get an excellent remix package from three leading lights in electronic music. What better way to wrap up his debut with Needwant. Radio Slave, Spencer Parker and Mr. Ties return under their B.A.D.S moniker with remixes of last year’s iconic ‘Hous-O-Matik Hom-O-Patik’ release. B.A.D.S. is an acronym of ‘Berlin Amateur Dramatics Society’, the project was established by Edwards, Parker and De Nittis for the original release in tribute to Berlin’s Homopatik party, the monthly event series helmed by Mr. Ties himself. In the House Of Ties Remix a syncopated breakdown erupts into a frenzy of rumbling kicks, infectious vox and Montefiori’s charismatic saxophone. In contrast, Parker’s reinterpretation is more mesmerising in nature with echoing stabs, reverberating vocals and eerie organ chords.

Favorite Recordings presents this new single reissue released by SOL Discos, a new sub-label launched as a partnership between Pascal Rioux and DJ Waxist. Following their recent collaboration on projects like Lamar Thomas’ single and Caribbean Disco Boogie Sounds’ compilation reissues, Favorite Recordings offered the French DJ to become the coordinator and A&R of a new imprint aiming to reissue rare and forgotten music with a Tropical and Disco flavor: “Sunshine Music”… Today, SOL Discos is delighted to introduce its very first release, with this official 7" reissue of Hiram & Direct. Initially recorded and released in Detroit (Michigan), it has been a hard to find record since then, with only a little number of known copies floating around and changing hands within the Soul collectors / DJ scene. Musically speaking, the reissue has been switching tracks sides from the original release, putting the focus on “Love Flight” as the A side. Indeed, “Love Flight” has some strong dancefloor potential for any DJ into underground Disco & Modern Soul. Just listen to those synths! On the B side, you will find a different vibe with “Turn It Around”, an excellent ballad with beautiful vocals & harmonies. In the end, both tracks have nothing to envy to some of the best Soul classics.

After his joining with Ostgut Booking in 2015, his contribution to the Ostgut Ton | Zehn compilation and two 12“es on Ben Klock’s Klockworks label, Ukraine-born, now Berlin-based producer and DJ Etapp Kyle debuts on Unterton. As with his previous releases Etapp Kyle captures his playful, multi-layered Techno endeavours with single-word track titles: Continuum EP starts off with “Opto”, an atmospheric track with fazing bleeps, ensouled synths and subdued claps – a prime example of his great feel for musical detail. “Ahora” builds upon this vibe with more asynchronous drum patterns, well placed drips of melody, distant pulses, mesmerizing pads and hints of rattles amongst other percussion. The EPs title track “Continuum” is distinctive through its use of industrial hammer jabs and reduced, puzzling synth pads that are counteracted by a more dominant, steady and stubborn kick drum. “Limb” contrasts unconventional pulsating, hypnotic synth tones with sharp claps and snare sounds, and rounds off this 12“ of all new, puristic and futurist Techno, catering as much to the darker corners as to the brightest spots of the dance floor.
