Mr Raoul K and Baobab Secret take the next step and put out new remixes of 'Le Karantkatrieme Peul'. Prisme are a Belgian duo (Nicolas Pepinster and Yves Theys) who started to produce their own material in 2010. They liked the title track so much that they remixed it and sent the result to Mr Raoul K who instantly fell in love with the melodic and laid back approach they took on it. This lush piece makes a perfect entry into a long night out, promising that every piece will fall into place. The other production crew featured on this release are the Iklawa Brothers (Mzwandile Nxasana and Sandile Magwaza) who run their own label in Durban, South Africa. They are big fans of Mr Raoul K's work and have been dropping his tunes in their sets on a regular basis. Their remix is a dark, afrobeat driven tune that takes the listener on a long trip into a gloomy world full of surprising musical twists, dramatic changes of mood and impressing string sounds. The last remix is done by Mr Raoul K himself. He shows a new side of his musical skills. Resulting in an epic track that seems to dance on tiptoes around a giant beast. One small step. Hesitate. Check carefully what happens. Do not disturb. Just watch in astonishment how it slowly awakes and stretches out to its full glory. A track that is full of hope, but reminds us to keep our feet to the ground to provide a solid stand.

It has not gone by unnoticed that, over the last five years, the Rhein Main area has become a decisive nucleus for innovative, powerful and modern House music. One who is not entirely innocent of this is Mannheim-based DJ, producer and label head Nick Curly, whose imprints 8 Bit and Cécille Records are guarantees for standard-setting electronic dance music. Since his Cocoon debut "Pujante" (2009) and especially since the Party Animals Cocoon Ibiza Summer Mix 2010, he is a frequent and welcome guest at Cocoon's. The three tracks of his "Sun City" EP are an impressive proof for Curly's maturation process: with a clear orientation towards the needs of the dancefloor, he exploits the sound potential of compressed House textures. The title track captivates the listener with a subsonically perfected bass line and a discoid Hi-NRG modulation, forming a deluxe prime time anthem, whereas the dense and dub-referring deepness of "Green Baize" is enchanting just everybody, and, for the final, "Libero"'s rich percussive rhythms are strongly stressing the pelvic thrust. So, virtually nothing can go wrong with Nick's World Tour between Ibiza, Moscow, Manchester and NYC!

Being Germany's Gateway to the World, the port city Hamburg always had a special affinity to America. So, it's not surprising that Peter M. Kersten aka Lawrence has a deep musical and spiritual relation to the Detroit Techno aesthetics for more than ten years now. His label Dial Rec, which he runs together with Carsten Jost, stands more than almost any other European address for the value-conscious cultivation of high-quality melancholy Techno. After seven albums under his producer aliases Lawrence and Sten, Kersten now continues the perfection of his sound vision also as a DJ in a congenial way. "Timeless" is far away from the dictate of the dogmatic obligation to currentness that DJs have to face nowadays, but celebrates electronic dance music as a timeless sensual component. With instinctive certainty, Kersten covers 16 years of living club history without ever losing the sight of the acoustic 'here and now', or even becoming the slightest bit anachronistically nostalgic. Instead, under his sensitive hands, milestones of minimalized Deep House like "Forever Monna" by Chez Damier, Ron Trent and Stacey Pullen (1995) or the 1999 club hit "Overcome" by Thomas Melchior/Baby Ford come together with contemporary and intensive hommages to Detroit Techno like Smallpeople & Rau's "Life Aquatic", Delano Smith's "My Life" or Pigon's fantastic Dub Tech romance "Beatmatching" from the 10-Years-Anniversary compilation of Dial Rec in a wonderful way. Besides that, the mix features such well-known names like Aril Brikha, Isolée, the Ifach Collective and Robert Hood, before Roman Flügel sets a wistful final chord with "Brian Le Bon", a track based on Duran Duran's masterpiece "Save A Prayer", and Plaid finishes the mix with the crystalline "OI" from their classic album "Not For Threes" (Warp). Lawrence's mix literally breathes the serenity of a light-flooded Sunday morning somewhere between a modernist city and a wood glade, and thus gives his global artistic approach a suitable dimension.

Marc Antona's .Rules Of Madness' album on his own lovingly crafted Dissonant label is in full force, it's works now trickling through in vinyl packages. For the second installment of .Rules Of Madness', leading track “All Against The Law” and his full-acoustic brother “Spring Pack” open the three vinyl release sequence that will bring the entire album to the decks. Like a tremendous and thrilling novel, “All Against The Law” starts the journey by setting the sexy and intriguing atmosphere. From the very beginning until the bitter end the hypnotic and metallic triangle tickles, its gently dissonant and mysterious sound taking the role of the second but essential character. Taking time to grow, the first half of the track lets tension subtlety build, no help of hulking effects needed or used. The core trip then begins; its story triggering with the psychedelic honk of a passing train that builds the exhilarating and huge melody repetition of the track. Voices then emerge, the organic sounds begging insistently as the sloping tension becomes steeper and the obsessing and nonchalant rhythm reachies new levels. Freaky with its subversive voice yet harmonic with its ever-changing pad, the track evolves sharply and switches constantly between melancholia and joy. This fusion of sensations shapes “All Against The Law” as something for the floor as well as for the mind. Picking up full speed and using every sample, glitch, sound bite and beat to culminate; “All Against The Law” becomes a truly original rhythmic journey. Second up is album track “Spring Pack”. Using equal amounts of intriguing and analogue field recordings as the A-side, “Spring Pack” manages to permit another feel all together; a fiery and acoustically groove ridden sensation. Rich but low-leveled piano lays as a bed to the hovering crackles and twitching twists fly above. Strangely though we barely notice it's presence until the hypnotic kick arrives and forces our movement. Rising from below and becoming increasingly dominant as “Spring Pack” evolves; the piano's swamped initial presence breaks free and races to dance impatiently with live, tight drum fills, jazzy percussion sections and a hooky vocal loop. Through his first album on Dissonant, Marc shows his innovative vision of what he wants to be sexy, underground music. Following on from this two track vinyl, .Rules Of Madness' Part 3 & 4 featuring the remaining album tracks are imminently to be released.

Featuring "Crush To Pulp", "Guru" and "Illegal", this third vinyl extract from Marc's album discovers new dimensions within each quirky piece and follows its ever surprising musical direction. "Crush To Pulp" embodies what you would dream of to be happy sexy techno. Led by a heady subtly harmonic gimmick and whipped to hypnotic hysteria by the rolling bass line, the track's tension constantly rises while maintaining its positive mood. Our instinctive human rhythm takes hold and stirs a sexual prowl. "Illegal"-the last of the album tracks to appear on "Rules Of Madness Part 3"-delves into an entirely different musical spectrum. Light hearted, full of sheer euphoria, "Illegal" is the sound of Marc Antona's influential Iberian studio let loose. Hidden singing melodies are on the way, as well as humorous and subversive vocal snippets. Illegal shows the very various faces hypno can take !

The sound of The Late Great Fitzcarraldos is like sand between your toes. Bittersweet love songs paying homage to Otis Redding, Brian Eno, John Cale and Luther Vandross. This is sophisticated melodic luxury music for a generation that has the history of music up their sleeve, but really just want to meditate.
The Late Great Fitzcarraldos is a Danish trio consisting of Tobias Buch-Andersen (vocals and Keyoboards), Jacob Funch (Guitar and vocals) also known from I Got You On Tape, and Jakob Millung (Bass and Vocals) - also in the band Choir of Young Believers.
The Late Great Fitzcarraldos are (...) a volatile gas, which appears to have found temporary peace in a house built by Roy Orbison, Phil Spector and Motown Berry Gordy only to be blown up with love in slow motion by Brian Eno and some of the other colorful producers from the 80s. The trio who records and lives in U.S. and Denmark write elegant luscious songs that make you dream away to a country where there are cocktails coming out of the taps, wall-to-wall carpeting is woven of marijuana, and a Caribbean sun washed in pastel colors 24-7. The most accurate description I can offer is perhaps Hawaii as a naive narcotic illusion.
The eponymous debut album is a headstrong eccentric oasis where edges are turned into curves. But the ideas, whether a harmonica on a long voyage, a comatose saxophone section or the recurring stiff-legged rhythm box, keeps the listener alert. And then Tobias Buch, a brilliant soul singer, in the midst of all this. As shown it can be highly addictive."
So far they released an EP in Denmark and toured with Efterklang. The debut album will be released 26.8.2011 through Fake Diamond / Word & Sound and is accompanied by a live tour.

The topic of „Salome“ fits the two producers Kadebostan and Laolu from Switzerland perfectly. Just listen to their prior releases on Freude Am Tanzen, fenou or Clap Your Hands. The melodies sway back and forth - dreamy and full of peace. The rhythm group plays along and only the most necessary things. And even though the vocal phrases retain their own character, they blend into this musical structure as if they were made for these tracks. The A and the B face show a masterly crafted arrangement. It would be a mistake not to listen to the whole, as one would miss the feeling to let yourself go. As usual, the lovingly designed 10inch record is a limited edition and numbered by hand.

Mo's Ferry release #57 is a vinyl re-release of two true classics from the label catalogue. Dapayk & Padberg “Island” is a special result of a collaboration with the American singer and producer Caro. The original track came out in 2007 on their second album “Black Beauty”. But the choice for this record is the “Swimming Circles Remix” by the Parisian dj and producer duo Noze (of Circus Company and Get Physical fame). Originally released on the B side of “Black Beauty Rmxs Pt.2” the remix developed into a prominent long runner for the artists and the label. In 2005 “Emergency” by Dapayk & Midnight marked the birth of Mo's Ferry's first sublabel fenou. The 10inch record was released as a limited edition of 1.000 copies, each stamped by hand with a consecutive number. This first and only edition is out of stock for years now and if you're lucky you can buy a rare copy on Discogs. Reason enough to bring this track on a new Mo's Ferry vinyl release.

Andy Vaz's Straight Vacationing, his first full-length artist album, since the 2006 release of Repetitive Moments Last Forever..., registers as less a straight-up collection of dance-floor burners and more of a variety pack that mixes club tracks and full-fledged house songs. Listeners hungry for just ordinary 4/4 throw-downs will not entirely get their share of those, but they'll also get a whole lot more on this dynamic and well-rounded set of eight album tracks and that is exploring House Music not just as a simple one way street, but give you a very personal view of the music we call House. Straight Vacationing dives into the genre in all it's rich variety: From deep melodic, early Chicago influenced Acid House, Jacking-Jedi Mind Tricks to Disco-type grooves and last but not least excursions into Bizzaro World, with a vaz typical almost psychedelic experimental-edged Sound, it's all there. The album perks up the moment the first track, "Detroit In Me," appears and when its acidy bass line percolates so determinedly alongside a female vocal motif ("I just need to put a little Detroit in Me), leaving little doubt as to the style in question, but Vaz polishes the track's Detroit surfaces to a mirror-like sheen. A little bit similar to what Maceo Parker might sound like soloing over a funky Detroit-styled base, saxophonist Andreas Pasternack spreads his creamy playing all over "Stubnitz" and in so doing bolsters the album's already soulful character. The album's poppiest moment arrives in "Just Another Round," whose hooks Vaz powers with a lead bass line and sweetens with a chirping female vocal. The funky-as-hell bass playing and the music's cold sweat, not to mention the honk of Pasternack's sax, might remind listeners of a certain age of the J.B.'s, James Brown's '70s band. On the experimental tip there's "Fukuoka Liquid," a bubbly, acid-techno shape-shifter featuring a hammering groove overlaid with synth smears, and "Worlds Collide," an exercise in jacking acid-house - old school all the way. The Album features occasional guest players contributing to the house-driven sun-showers of for example "The Other Place" to a, well, whole other place - So what are you waiting for? Meet us there!
