'Hold On' EP features fellow Swedish artist Mapei rapping a Verse on the title track, the genesis of what, like all gods creature, was born from a picture of chance and chemistry. "We had been spending a lot of time working in the studio, mostly on her upcoming album. For the feature on HOLD ON, I wanted someone who could tear down a wall, but sound like a hot Shangri-Las at the same time. Mapei is perfect for this." Arguably much of the songs power comes in the the chorus's backing Vocals, which in true fighting spirit Olsson went hard when choosing the right collaborators for this. "I´ve always been obsessed with gospel choirs since I was a kid, so 'Hold ON' had to have one. Back in 2015 I went to London and just recorded a gospel choir whose members included Vula Malinga (Basement Jaxx, Sam Smith), Adeleye Omotayo (Amy Whinehouse), Sam White (Florence & the Machine) and Eska Mtungwazi. They are a powerful layer on the record." On the B-side you will find 'Thin Love' which was the first song recorded under the Olsson moniker "Thin Love is about feeling numb really. Its about breaking out of something truly destructive. Thin Love is the first song I wrote for Olsson. I was in a very disturbed state. It was the point where I told my demons to fuck-off."
Musically Olsson borrows heavily from Rave Culture, and as a happy consequence sets the tone for many of the collaborators and release ideas. As such you will find the EP on a classic 12" Dance format replete with remixes from House Music prodigy Isaac Tichauer and Drum and Bass legend DJ Marky. "I´m a big fan of both there work. DJ Marky for his 3pm-with-two-cocktails-in-you kind of groove. And Isaac Tichauer for his 3am dancing alone kind of vibe. Its a perfect combination for a all around the clock ep." Even the artwork had to speak the same language, so Olsson turned to Sheffield legends The Designers Republic and asked them to visualise his voice. In doing so Olsson has created an Iconic aesthetic evoking similar work from 90's heroes Aphex Twin, Pulp and Primal Scream; all pioneers of progressive and often twisted design-led visual communication and branding made in collaboration with The Designers Republic.

Timmy P's latest outing on Dessous Recordings continues the long list of illustrious labels that have been home to his house vision. Now based in London, Timmy has a string of emphatic releases under his belt, not least on influential imprints such as Local Talk, Extended Play, Dirt Crew and MadTech.
With Safety First, Timmy's playful approach to the deeper side of house shines though. The title track mixes crisp, crunchy drums with warm, soft pads and a bubbling bass line - a deep rolling cut with plenty of punch for the floor. The fantastically named 'Grim Fandango' is a little tougher, with the snares and claps snapping tightly over a taut, un-resistible vibe. Timmy's balance of dynamics is masterful, each element perfectly complimenting each other to create a tour de force over 8 minutes.
'Bosh' is similarly crafted - the original echoing classic 90s house but feeling completely fresh for 2016, while James Dexter's remix is a robust, deep roller. This is house music made with joy and passion.

Berlin’s cult techno duo Exercise One release their newest 12” featuring 3 tracks. One track reminiscent of

‘timetrap' has always been the dark horse of Exercise One's back catalog, so they decided to go back to the
original idea of the track and see where they could take it. A few sessions later their ears were happy and
‘timetrap 2016’ was born. The staccato groove and eerie hook of the original now live in a much more
powerful and demanding surrounding. Exactly what they where looking for.
To take the idea one step further they asked prolific producer Locked Groove, a fan of the original on Wagon
Repair, to rework the track and they received a gem in return. His lush, trippy remix takes a totally different
path, meandering around a perfect balance of melody and seductive rhythmics that have made him such a
sought-after producer.
'502 last sequence' is the newest creation of Exercise One and nicely rounds out the release. Slightly
rougher and darker, the track perfectly displays where the duo’s heart is at currently. A track built on genuine
machine love, the Handwerk Audio studio has again left its mark on their output…not surprisingly.

The Band:
A french trio called France, using drums, bass and amplified hurdy-gurdy.
They perform only live, in the middle of the audience - turned in to face each other - full on smoke machines and strobes. And they play only one 'song' for the duration of their hour-long set. And it's the most transfixing live experience of intense physical and mental focus.
The distorted hurdy gurdy plugs France's sound into the country's history of folk music and popular festivities, of communal trance and immersive pleasure. The rhythmic basis is pretty much the same throughout the whole live. One doesn't need to actually be tripping balls for the auditory illusions to start coming thick and fast. Those who've stayed for the whole duration of their performances know they've shared something. However disparate the phantom forms each might have discerned in the midst of the howls and groans. Gigs like this you leave feeling you're not quite the same person who went in, even though you'd be hard-pressed to pinpoint precisely what has changed.
One certainty remains at least, that there is still a France we can believe in. David McKenna (The Quietus). The Release:
Initially released as a 50 copies CD-r in 2009, swiss Mental Groove has teamed with french Standard-Infi to reissue this classic live performance onto glorious vinyl edition. The 45 minutes are radically sliced onto the two sides. The recording is raw and the mastering is fat. The first two pressings made in 2014 and 2015 were distributed confidentially and during the numerous live performances of the band. They are long time sold out and sought after. Now everyone has a chance to get a slice of France's trance with this third pressing featuring a brand new artwork.

Pets are proud to welcome long-time friend Mathias Kaden whose making his label
debut with two of the trippiest, sense-shaking, freakiest jams we think he’s ever
conjured.
As teased in his recent Boiler Room show (and most sets he’s played lately), both
‘Polyphonic’ and ‘NoKick’ offer a fresh-yet-heritage-rooted take on techno and have
been tailored to cut through on the biggest of festival and carnival rigs. Perfect timing,
then. Let’s tuck in:
‘Polyphonic’ sits somewhere between Paperclip People and Basement Jaxx. Its
sterling acid house hook lays down the foundations while a dizzying array of FX and
sonic chemtrails swoop, bend and flare above the groove like fireworks. A proper
sonic rocket display of a track that defies conventional arrangement, make no
mistakes: this blows minds.
‘NoKick’ continues this theme with even more derring-do. As the name suggests,
there’s no kick drum at play here, just a swinging break with a classic 2 Bad Mice
style old school bassline and even more laser-blazing FX trickery that rifles the
spectrum with head-turning, twisted dexterity. Complete with crowd cheers and
carnivalian whoops and hollers, this is the ultimate DJ tool that winds the crowds up
like nobody’s business.
Better late than never: After years of releasing on some of the biggest and most
respected labels in techno, Mathias’s appearance on Pets has been long overdue.
But rest assured; these tracks really are a seriously special occasion. Only a fool
would sleep on these…

Pets are proud to welcome long-time friend Mathias Kaden whose making his label
debut with two of the trippiest, sense-shaking, freakiest jams we think he’s ever
conjured.
As teased in his recent Boiler Room show (and most sets he’s played lately), both
‘Polyphonic’ and ‘NoKick’ offer a fresh-yet-heritage-rooted take on techno and have
been tailored to cut through on the biggest of festival and carnival rigs. Perfect timing,
then. Let’s tuck in:
‘Polyphonic’ sits somewhere between Paperclip People and Basement Jaxx. Its
sterling acid house hook lays down the foundations while a dizzying array of FX and
sonic chemtrails swoop, bend and flare above the groove like fireworks. A proper
sonic rocket display of a track that defies conventional arrangement, make no
mistakes: this blows minds.
‘NoKick’ continues this theme with even more derring-do. As the name suggests,
there’s no kick drum at play here, just a swinging break with a classic 2 Bad Mice
style old school bassline and even more laser-blazing FX trickery that rifles the
spectrum with head-turning, twisted dexterity. Complete with crowd cheers and
carnivalian whoops and hollers, this is the ultimate DJ tool that winds the crowds up
like nobody’s business.
Better late than never: After years of releasing on some of the biggest and most
respected labels in techno, Mathias’s appearance on Pets has been long overdue.
But rest assured; these tracks really are a seriously special occasion. Only a fool
would sleep on these…

Poker Flat Recordings offers up another mouthwatering collaboration in the form of this EP by Mennie and Julien Sandre.
Mennie hails from Italy, and had fast been gaining a serious reputation on the underground, both as a resident at Club 999 in his home country and as a talented up and coming producer. Teaming up here with the Frenchman Julien Sandre, this is an international project that will hit home with DJs and house lovers globally.
The Night Riots EP kicks off with 'Partitions', which sees the boys in sparkling form - twisting and teasing a sick groove out of fairly simple sources.
'Darth J' follows a similar path - the devil is in the detail, and Mennie and Sandre get down to some serious beat science, punctuated with some subtle chords and vocal stabs in the process.
'In A Pixel World' reveals the pair's love of classic Chicago vibes distilled though French Touch, bringing in a super funky groove
filtered though various effects and processes, and paying homage to the timeless sounds of early Daft Punk.

Fresh off the heels of the success of their 'Waiting Ground' EP, the boys in black, Frank & Tony, are skating back onto the scene with another four track summer stomper, 'Under the Jaguar Sun'. The A-side starts things off with the titular track, a rollicking deep house number primed for sunset raves. A bouncing and lush bass line is the back bone of the track, as crisp hi-hats, distant, yearning pads, and shimmering bells propel dancers forward into eyes closed euphoria. Things ramp up quickly into peak-time ecstasy on the Breakaway edit of Solo Andata's "A Ballet of Hands." A whirling dervish of delicate music boxes, bowed guitars, delicate music boxes, and distant horns swirl around and weave in and out between a skipping drum pattern, pushing and pulling alongside a gruff and stuttering bass, perfect for those late night rooftop ventures. The B-side takes listeners into early morning after hours territory, starting with the groovy "Difficult Loves." An airy and luscious double bass keeps things bouyed as introspective pads shimmer alongside pillars of aquatic synths. Backed by a classic, shuffling NY House drum groove, this one is best served late into the evening. The boys wrap things up on a high note with the latin vibes of "Sargasso." Swag Classics centeres around some sought after reissue fare from the Croydon´s legendary SWAG Records label. These are 2 expensive double A Side vinyl cuts - almost unaffordable if bough 2nd hand. So this is a very democratioc re release for fans of the label.

INFO TEXT (IF ANY)Think Croydon and a few things come to mind; Kate Moss, punk band The Damned, Crystal Palace football club, Peep Show and of course Dubstep, the now world conquering music genre that will forever be linked to the south London suburb. What you never hear though, is any mention of Tech House, another world conquering music genre. And to be honest we’re a little bit peeved about that. Because if Tech House has a spiritual home it’s Croydon, and that is due mainly to Swag Records and the people that gravitated towards the humble West Croydon record shop and studio.
Swag began in late 1992 and within a year it has positioned itself as the leading store to buy the strange new, stripped down, trippy, driving brand of house music being played at underground parties in and around south east London. On any given day you could walk in and find Terry Francis, Dave Mothersole, Grant Dell or Richard Grey serving behind the counter, Eddie Richards, Colin Dale or Mr C buying records and Matthew B, Gideon Jackson or Affie Yusuf at the helm in the studio upstairs. The building shook night and day with the throbbing, bass heavy grooves and the beat never stopped – or so it seemed. And now all these years later some of those records made in that little room at the top of the old Victorian building that housed the Swag headquarters are finally starting to get the recognition they deserve. Back when those tunes were cut, in the late 90’s and early 00’, pretty much the sole intention was to have something new and exciting to play at parties like Wiggle, Heart & Soul, Whoop Whoop and Kerfuffle. Now they’ve become highly collectable for those who recognise the huge part they had to play in defining the tech house sound. None more so perhaps than Sound Of The Suburbs ‘I Won’t Stop’, which is now fetching up to £100 on Discogs. And that’s why we’ve decided to release that as the lead track on Swag Classics – so people can buy it again, on vinyl, at a fair price.
Produced by Pete Hurst and Paul Stubbs under their Sound Of The Suburbs moniker, it sounds as fresh today as it did back in the day, more so perhaps. Meanwhile on the flip side there’s a previously unreleased track from Pete aka Sloth UK titled Mr Eko

For the 11th release 7777 presents the Ghost Miners Remixes. For these remixes I offered each producer samples from different songs from the 2 Ghost Miners records. Instead of doing straight forward remixes of a single song, I put forth the proposal for each artist to make their own version of a Ghost Miners song from scratch or using any samples they feel like. Contributors include 3 of my favorite producers. 2 in demand artists; FIT Siegel and Andreas Gehm (RIP) and one new comer; Brian Thrash. Andreas Gehm's version is a standard acid Gehm gem. Calling in the chords from the originals mixed with standard Gehm acid brilliance. In FIT Siegel's version you'll find the perfect pure underground dance sound. Featuring Ray-7 on hand drums FIT constructs a remix that combines elements of classic Detroit and Chicago sound while keeping the attitude and acid aesthetic of the original material. On the B side Brian Thrash, controlling his analogue arsenal, takes you on an epic acid journey traversing through the underground and space. Thank you for your time. - Jared Wilson

It is common knowledge Toby Tobias used to rule the coasts of Ibiza with his Balearic Iron Funk! Now back on his home turf of London, Toby has chosen the Cosmic Pint Glass to tell us the story Sun, Sea and Madness! A Room for Babette is a Balearic House Funk bomb filled with sandy frolics and a touch of mayhem. Afterwards we hit the romance button. Touch Meh is a one of the smoothest edits to be given the Toby treatment and on the flip Ptaki take you on an amazingly beautiful 12 minute journey around the islands with their A Room for Babette remix complete with dolphins! When Toby Tobias visited Ibiza he used to stay at an amazing B&B ran by Babette. She was one of the original party people of the island and would hang out with the likes of Grace Jones.

An erratic beat and explosions rattle overhead, until the soothing sounds of a synthesised flute float in. Shortly after a saxophone joins in and the explosions start up again. It's at this point things start to get fun! Tensions are rising and the boogie is starting to happen! Before long you're travelling at full tilt! Toby has been part of the London scene since breaking some shapes in the streets back in the 80's. He has seen genres come and go and all the while been adding to his record collection. In this track you can hear a cross pollination of Styles from Funk, House, Soca and even No Wave making for a DJ friendly track and has a genuinely rare style. After the evening out on the town, it's time to go back to the chalet for a night of romance. Touch Meh is a one of the smoothest, romantic edits. Toby adds his magic to re-edit with the addition of some powerful drums making for a seriously raunchy track! The next day (On the flip of the EP) we meet up with Ptaki, everyone is feeling a little delicate so the boys take you to their favourite cove, or that's what it sounds like. A Room for Babette remix has been tamed beautifully to give a wholly relaxing track with the addition of an amazing string sample that sits perfectly in the groove. The explosions and erratic drums are gone leaving the sound of paradise. After a small visit to some dolphins a rhythm on the horizon can be heard and after a little while, we find ourselves in a trance, fully relaxed to the deep house sound of Ptaki.

Wright & Alinka ‘Face The Truth’, sought after duo Audiojack are back serving up a solid two-track release in the form of ‘Turya’. 'Turya' is built for serious heads down sessions fusing subtle acid pads with soaring synths and sonorous spoken words. The hypnotic quality of the teacher’s words beguiles and entrances the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and its evolving groove. ‘Event Horizon’ is a different beast altogether, with a heavy drum and bass vibe, a four-four format, and a classic "amen" break beat style. In 2015 Audiojack launched their Sunday Social free party at Veto club in their home of Ibiza, which after a strong season will continue this year. Their first Essential Mix recently dropped on Radio 1 and a string of highly successful releases and remixes on labels such as Hot Creations, Tsuba, 20/20 Vision and their own Gruuv has solidified their place in the dance music elite. On the A-side are two fresh compositions recorded in 2015. “Third Skin” kicks things in a metallic EBM funk with a pounding bottom end. “Lipstick Information” takes the listener on a dark, psychedelic and twisted journey through thrillingly intense arpeggiations. They landed a record deal with Satellite Records in Burbank, California, which had been founded by Pete Moore of The Miracles. After pressing 50 promotional copies, the label ran into financial problems, and the record never reached a full release. Taking cues Kraftwerk, Grand Master DST, Grandmaster Flash & Jam Master Jay, Series-A created dark electro beats in an era when sampling appeared to be the future of music. Lyrically the song addresses our species' entry into the technological age. For this EP reissue, the 7” Mix and Dub Mix are included on the A-side. On the flip is a new remix by prolific Ann Arbor producer JTC, an alias of Tadd Mullinix (aka Dabrye, SK-1, & Charles Manier). JTC speeds up and expands the song to seven minutes. Drawing on influences from Ron Hardy to Jeff Mills, he drives around suburban techno landscapes while simultaneously launching the listener into deep space.

Tim Green is back with another brace of high impact club tunes of the sort that have made him one of the most in demand producers of the day. Whether serving up rolling techno treats for Cocoon, essential mixes for the Body Language series on Get Physical or laying down compelling club sets in the DJ booth, Brit Tim Green is unstoppable right now. Here he steps up to the Get Weird imprint with two more tantalising cuts that show just how broad and brilliant an artist he is. Stirring opener ‘For A Memory’ is eleven minutes of wordless and intoxicating female vocals, slick rubbery drums and plunging bass. The overall effect is hypnotic, rolling and perfectly groovy, and it will no doubt have whole dancefloors locked under its spell. Some little melodic explosions, sweeping filters and luscious pads all help add a real air of grace to proceedings that mark it out as another classic from Green. ‘For A Distant Memory’ is a subtle but noteworthy reworking of the same cut. In this one, the drums are less direct and more stripped back, there is a focus on the angelic, glowing pads and on spine tingling slices of synth that are reflective and emotive as they drop in and out. It is a perfectly trance inducing, heart warming cut that the likes of Lee Burridge at his All Day I Dream parties, or various DJs playing on a sun kissed terrace around the globe, will all lap right up.

A multi-instrumentalist, Robert was trained in saxophone starting at age 10, before moving onto a Fender Telecaster after high school. After being exposed to Southern California rave culture in the late 90s, he moved onto DJing and collecting records. By the time he planted his roots in San Francisco in 2005,Robert had built an impressive analog synth-based studio, which also serves as the creative hub for his riveting live performances.

Returning to Houndstooth a year since the release of his One Sound / Layer Lock EP is Second Storey. After spending most of 2015 focussing on his collaboration with Laurence Osbourne - Second Storey & Appleblim present ALSO - over at R&S Records, Alec Storey came back into the fold as part of the Houndstooth 3rd anniversary compilation earlier this year. Now he returns to the label in full with a gleaming new EP, Bismuth. Initialising the release, title track Bismuth takes inspiration from a documentary on the visually impressive metal. Affected by its angular, complex 3D elements and fluid like structures the music itself mirrors the element’s appearance deploying the intricate precision of IDM creating its own multiplex of textures.Melodic poly rhythms and chord structures define the track from the outset which work neatly with Storey’s trademark tight percussion, which sits in that golden spot between bass and electro. Bringing the tempo up a couple of notches, Grand Rapid lives up to its title. Urgent in nature, it reflects the environment it was created in - crafted on a laptop while speeding through the countryside on a train. Propelled by its ever-present bassline groove, percussive elements speed and whir by in this pacey venture.
Finally, Helicat completes the EP, built around the interplay between the main riff and synth percussion elements; from the outset bit-crushed bass drops and pommels out an electro-esque off beat rhythm while the synth line gives its circling answer.

The second of two Zentrum spinoffs is with us! As with the first, it comes loaded with four remixes. Octo Octa, Vito & Druzzi, Cooper Saver and Turbotito, and Lemonade all handed in top-notch reimaginings of tracks off Jacques Renault's debut LP, which came out just under a year ago, and they all somehow manage to be unique unto themselves while also sublimely bleeding into one another. Octo Octa's rendering of “Mi Casa Samba” serves as a propulsive beginning that's as dark and druggy as it is sharp and focused. Vito & Druzzi's take on “Faith” runs in a similar vein, but in a more stripped-back, drawn-out, and patient sort of way; it is nearly ten minutes long, so this is perhaps not a surprise. The B's remixes are brighter, sunnier, though that's not to say they're not bold. Cooper Saver and Turbotito's redo of “Words” has a certain funky swing to it that, paired with spacey synths and Balearic bells and whistles, makes it ideal daytime disco fodder. The Lemonade boys close the EP with their vibey take on “Faith.” Pads for days, a plump bass, and a focus on the original's sax make you wonder if the song itself somehow got stoned from a couple extra giant bong rips. A fitting way to end both the 12” and the summer.

A year after his debut album "Viaggi", Amsterdam based italian Marco Antonio Spaventi is back with another fine full length statement. Entitled "Isola Sommersa" and landing on M>O>S Recordings, it follows up after many great EPs on the label over the last five years. Spaventi has a passion for old school house but always brings it up to date. Using hardware tools like a natural extension of his body, he cooks up rugged grooves, nostalgic moods and smoky atmospheres that cocoon you in sound of its own. As well as releasing on other labels like Slow Motion, Secretsundaze, Pizzico Records and Cos_Mos, he is also an acclaimed production wizard and runs his own professional studio. Long the way here, Spaventi dips his toes into various waters with equal success. There are spaced out and invitingly warm grooves such as the rubbery ‘Tape Noodles’, blissful ambient interludes like ‘Undisclosed’ and serene synth passages filled with retro future beauty such as the closer ‘Titanic Moments.’ Cuts like ‘Simple Mind’ prove this artist can conjure up genuine feelings of internal reflection as well as raw physical drum lines, and ‘Best Regards’ is a tantalisingly go slow bit of cosmic house that erupts into a fluid acid track. Though Chicago and Detroit are obvious reference points, Spaventi always develops his own ideas with a refreshing vibe. It makes for an album that is house at its heart, but also one that is ambitious, absorbing and widescreen in the way it is executed.

The official Mr Bongo reissue. Krishnanda is an album in the truest sense of the word – a spiritual, psychedelic Brazilian masterpiece from start to finish – celebrated by everyone from Seu Jorge and Kassin to Floating Points, Madlib, Quantic, Gilles Peterson and DJ Nuts. These days, originals change hands for thousands of dollars.
Pedro dos Santos, born in Rio in 1919, was a percussionist virtuoso, composer and inventor of instruments that apparently included oddities such as the ‘Tamba’ (electrified bamboo drum) and the mouth berimbau whistle. Nicknamed Perdo ‘Sorongo’ after the rhythm he invented, that features throughout ‘Krishnanda’. A highly spiritual man who was regarded as a philosopher by many.
He worked with greats including Baden Powell, Elis Regina, Maria Bethany, Elza Soares, Sebastião Tapajós, Roberto Ribeiro, Milton Nascimento, Clara Nunes, Paul Simon and Arthur Verocai, playing on his legendary self-titled LP. In the same vein as Verocai and his self-titled LP, ‘Krishnanda’ was Pedro’s chance to shine with his own, and only, solo recording.
Krishnanda was produced by Hélcio Milito, the drummer of Tamba Trio, and arranged by conductor Joppa Lins, and originally released in 1968 on CBS (Brasil). Musically, the album touches folk, samba, afro-brazilian and psychedelia plus added effects, with a lyrical depth and diversity to match; themes including morality, perception, existence and ego.
Despite the genius of the record and the influence that it had on musicians at the time of release, it disappeared into obscurity. We first discovered the record around 2003, through a friend Julio Dui. Around that time Brazilian funk and bossa was the flavour of the day, so didn’t catch our ear immediately, however it continued improve with age and now we consider it to be one of the best albums ever made, regardless of genre or origin.
The Mr Bongo reissue is produced as a replica original LP / audio master by Ricardo Garcier at Magic Master (Rio de Janeiro) / artwork restored by Andrew Edwards, from the original copy borrowed from Julio Dui – thank you, sir!

Pedro dos Santos, born in Rio in 1919, was a percussionist virtuoso, composer and inventor of instruments that apparently included oddities such as the ‘Tamba’ (electrified bamboo drum) and the mouth berimbau whistle. Nicknamed Perdo ‘Sorongo’ after the rhythm he invented, that features throughout ‘Krishnanda’. A highly spiritual man who was regarded as a philosopher by many.
He worked with greats including Baden Powell, Elis Regina, Maria Bethany, Elza Soares, Sebastião Tapajós, Roberto Ribeiro, Milton Nascimento, Clara Nunes, Paul Simon and Arthur Verocai, playing on his legendary self-titled LP. In the same vein as Verocai and his self-titled LP, ‘Krishnanda’ was Pedro’s chance to shine with his own, and only, solo recording.
Krishnanda was produced by Hélcio Milito, the drummer of Tamba Trio, and arranged by conductor Joppa Lins, and originally released in 1968 on CBS (Brasil). Musically, the album touches folk, samba, afro-brazilian and psychedelia plus added effects, with a lyrical depth and diversity to match; themes including morality, perception, existence and ego.
Despite the genius of the record and the influence that it had on musicians at the time of release, it disappeared into obscurity. We first discovered the record around 2003, through a friend Julio Dui. Around that time Brazilian funk and bossa was the flavour of the day, so didn’t catch our ear immediately, however it continued improve with age and now we consider it to be one of the best albums ever made, regardless of genre or origin.
The Mr Bongo reissue is produced as a replica original LP / audio master by Ricardo Garcier at Magic Master (Rio de Janeiro) / artwork restored by Andrew Edwards, from the original copy borrowed from Julio Dui – thank you, sir!

Three killers heralding the next phase of this dazzling expression of a dream Dakar-Berlin nexus. All instrumental — though the opener has snatches of singing — with the vocal versions held back for the new album, out in the Autumn. The music just gets deadlier and deadlier — harder-boiled and deeper; more focussed, confident and dubwise. Evoking the ancient cultural legacy of the griots, 'Walo Walo' is also the name of the sabar rhythm underlying the opener, which features Ibou Mbaye's percussive synth-work, Mangone Ndiaye Dieng's kit-drumming, and Bada Seck's rigorous jolts of lower-pitched Thiol drum. The 'Groove' version is tough as nails; well and truly gnarly. A tribute to the Baye Fall leader, Ndiguel Groove is a sparse, mellow interpretation of the most traditional cut on the album, showcasing Assane Ndoye Cisse’s insinuating guitar lines, Laye Lo’s super-elasticated snare-drumming, and Bada Seck playing the khine drums associated with the Baye Fall. (Short and wide; lightweight but low-pitched.) Pretty awesome.

Release 2 on Red Rack'ems new sample heavy 'from the vaults' vinyl only label Nettles comes from Australian B Boy house-head Jules Inkswel. Nettles is all about releasing the CDR specials that Red Rack'em has been dropping in his club sets over the years and he first heard the tracks on this release in 2012 when staying in Melbourne with Jules while on tour in Australia. Music was shared, drunken fights ensued and donuts were thrown in faces. The tracks lay forgotten for quite a while in a folder called 'Inkswel Stuff' until recently when Rack'em began to play them out and the response was totally off the chain. So in the spirit of getting the good onto the streets again - here's Inxxxwels Sativa Edits Vol. 1! Lipstick N Blushin is the audio encapsulation of Desperately Seeking Susan being trapped in an elevator with Mesopotamia era B52s sound tracked with strictly analogue gear. Proper NYC coked out doe eyed schlocky vibes right here. Bed Sores is some old school Enjoy era disco rap being chopped up for maximum dancefloor potential. Alicia Love James is a big room boogie soul banger which never fails to rock the spot.

Better known as Kemback, Geoff Wright is a Bristol based producer, selector, composer, violinist, teacher, and waiter whose music is rooted in House and Techno but often treads into the weird and wonderful worlds of Jazz, Soul, Folk, and Blues. While his gritty drums and shuffling grooves bear the hallmark of the city he now calls home, the melodic sensibility of his emotive strings and distant glimmering synths harks back to the tree-lined footpaths of the tiny Scottish village from which he takes his name. His debut release in 2014, on Bristol mainstay Futureboogie, received widespread support from DJs as diverse as Skream, Mosca, and Nemone. More recently his effort as part of Alfresco Disco's acclaimed Maximum Joy series, titled 'Awaken', has been likened to the music of artists including Floating Points and Leon Vynehall. Good Night & For You Today, the two tracks on Kemback's Omena debut, showcase a high level of production skill. To complete the package the always excellent Auntie Flo (aka Brian D'Souza) & Omena label boss Tooli take turns in remixing Good Night.

Tuccillo returns to Visionquest this summer with his ‘Full Time’ EP, comprised of three compositions from the Italian producer. Over his 15-year career, Tuccillo has established himself as one of the most recognised, in-demand producers and DJ’s of the underground, combining distinctive analogue and digital sounds to create a blend of deep, stylish and unique house music. With a number of notable releases on his own imprint Unblock and various other releases being snapped up by labels like Holic Trax and Get Physical, Tuccillo’s return to Visionquest with his latest EP is a welcome addition to his already acclaimed discography. Having previously released collaborations with Shaun Reeves and Visionquest for the label, Tuccillo’s solo project for the label, the ‘Full Time’ EP is a worthy soundtrack aimed squarely at the dance floor. The opener ‘Keep It Down’ sets the tone with a crisp, hypnotic bass line, gradually layering percussive grooves and retro chords – creating a stripped-back, infectious rhythm that gradually concludes with resonating rugged drum lines. Next up, ‘Take DB’ takes the EP in a slightly darker direction – employing a rumbling bass line and haunting vocals, building up to sun-soaked soulful synth lines, but quickly returning to grittier, robust sounds, resulting in a 7-minute trip of diverse and intriguing soundscapes. The closing track on the EP is ‘Full Time’ – the heavyweight title track fuelled by an echoing moody bass line and accentuated with distorted glitches and a heady, captivating rhythm to round off the EP with a punch.

Once again the mysterious Hall and Amsterdam/Paris based Oscillate Music boss cook up some hard hitting house that is sonically inventive. Opener 'First Carol' has hulking kicks and hits and a writhing, monstrous sounding synth line that brings real rawness and energy to the four-four beats all around it. Some spooky little beat-less passage of eerie industrial sounds appear before 'Second Carol' again slips into a well swung and purposeful groove. This one is rubbery and rolling, with dubbed out chords riding up and down and airy hats adding a sense of scale. Another EP of contemporary club music of the highest order.
